OK all.....it's been a hot minute since my family has ordered from Reds. We weren't necessarily sure what would happen after the restaurant changed hands. Welp, last night, I ordered a half sized baby back ribs, a tri tip salad with dressing tossed in already (half sized), 2 tri tip supreme potatoes, 2 chicken supreme potatoes, a lb of salmon and 6 garlic rolls. Let's not forget the watermelon lemonade, the strawberry lemonade and the cherry lemonade. Red's now is fantastic!!! The customer service was on point! Even when my anxiety started to get bad and I was having problems with ordering (but I got it done with the patience of the phone person ). They took the time to repeat the order back to me. The last bit lof foodage I ordered was the chocolate brownie.. (I'm not a huge fan of desserts tbh.....but wow. It was terrific!!! ) annnnnnndddddd we ll I was also able to add a tip on the bill as it was for delivery. Whew!!! The food was delivered on time and the delivery guy was AWESOME. I couldn't answer the door....but got in my ring camera and talked to him. He was very nice . Normally,I would definitely not feel good after eating baby back ribs. But this time, I had no issues! Food quality was mediocre. Had the Bbq chicken salad. Lacking in taste and the chicken was very sus! Had the buffalo cauliflower, was not battered or deep fried and too crunchy and not good. Won't be coming back. They also don't have brisket? Strange for a BBq restaurant. read more

My Simi friends suggested meeting at Red's for lunch. My first time there. Our server was very friendly checked on our table often. My friend's had salads- 1/2 orders of Cobb and TriTip. They were pretty big for a half order. I had the BBQ Pork sandwich with baked beans and coleslaw. The pork was very tender on a soft French roll and the BBQ sauce was very flavorful and not too sweet. It was large as well and zi took have of it home. I had read some reviews when I Yelped the menu. So many ppl raving about the garlic rolls I had to try one. It was delicious! Soft, buttery and the garlic wasn't over done. Here lies the corpse of red's barbecue. Once the city's shining gem of meats and sides. Now it is sadly a funeral home for entrées murdered in their prime. The rice pilaf, which I was looking forward to, tasted of nothing but bell peppers and dried rice grains undercooked and crunchy. The macaroni came pre-congealed cold and looking snotty. The rolls came burned. The rolls came burned. I don't understand how that got let out the door, but it did. And the salmon was undercooked raw in the center and drowned in barbecue sauce and corn mash. The only thing that was mildly edible was the garlic mashed potatoes, which I don't even think I can finish. Go anywhere else for your barbecue needs if you're not getting a freaking salad, you are wasting your money. read more

We came in on a Friday evening, party of 6 - surprisingly the place was dead! I remember the days when we'd have to wait a bit to be seated... it's been over 4 years since we moved away from Simi so it's been many years since we've dined here. Shout out to our server Jessica! She was awesome! Very sweet! Attentive and professional! As far as the food? Definitely not as good as it used to be! My husband's prime rib was overcooked (he ordered it medium rare) my petite tri tip was also well done and a little tough! I ordered it medium well (which is how i always used to order it here) it used to always be buttery tender. This was my "go to" favorite-Red's petite tri tip! The rolls!! What the heck happened to your rolls? They used to be heavenly & irresistible! The first batch they brought out were hard so we sent them back for new ones and even the new ones they brought out weren't soft and yummy like they used to be :o( Everyone was pretty disappointed with them. The others in our group were happy with their food except for the potatoes au'gratin, my friend had to request a new side because they were served cold. Definitely not the old Reds! The service isn't the best and the waiter usually takes a while to even greet us and take our drinks. The place itself isn't nothing special. Great customer service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The place is clean. The food is delicious. The BBQ sauce on the tables is in a container of what syrup is usually in. Easy to pour. Our waitress Madison was great. She took our order, brought over our drinks. Then followed the fresh rolls. Brought over extra napkins and packaged wet wipes without asking. Once our drinks were half way, we received a refill. Our food was cooked perfectly. My wife had tri-tip with a baked potato. I ordered a full rack of BBQ beef ribs with fries and mash potatoes. I know, a lot of potatoes, but it's a dish that I hardly ever finish. We were asked if we wanted more rolls. Overall, we will be coming back. The food was good overall -- the tri-tip and barbecue chicken salads were fresh and flavorful. The pulled pork sandwich had nice flavor but was a bit tough and dry, and the half chicken could've used some extra sauce since the breast meat was on the dry side. Coleslaw was excellent, mac & cheese was decent, and the potatoes were tasty but not hot. Our main complaint was the service. Our waitress was very sweet and polite, but it was clear she was overworked. She seemed to be handling multiple tables and cleaning duties, so we hardly saw her. We placed a takeout order on 6/27/26, and I just wanted to recognize the outstanding teamwork we witnessed. Every employee was hustling, working together, and double- and triple-checking orders to make sure everything was accurate. It was impressive to see how well the team worked together. I especially want to mention one of the male employees who was handling the drive-up orders. He was constantly on the move, going back and forth without missing a beat, all while maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent service. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but he truly deserves recognition for his hard work. He was amazing, and the entire takeout team did a fantastic job. read more

If you are visiting Simi Valley, this is a must stop. Fresh garlic butter rolls and delicious BBQ and sides are just the beginning! The service is wonderful. We've been here twice now and each time the servers took care of us, treating is like we were guests in their home. Recommend trying a homemade dessert. Red's has been a favorite for years. From their show stopping garlic rolls to their delicious entrees, they are just fabulous. I used to love their hot fudge sundae but the last time I ordered it, they subbed canned fudge frosting for real hot fudge and it was inedible. Really gross. Never again. I had not been in awhile, since they were closed down a few years ago for violations, but decided to give them a chance. Big Mistake. I ordered the pound of Tri-Tip medium with rice and mashed potatoes. The tri-tip came out still bleeding and the rice was so under cooked. The rolls were still good, which is the only thing I can say. I sent the Tri-Tip back and they brought out another one, the edges were medium, but the inside was pink. I shook my head, paid the bill and left. I should have known that there was something wrong, 6PM on a Friday and the restaurant was not busy. It used to be on a Friday night you would have to wait outside to get a table. Now they are plentiful and I know why. Too many other good BBQ places to put up with this. read more

After a long hiatus I decided to give Red's BBQ another try. Unfortunately it will be the last time. The chicken salad was decent. I ordered a cheeseburger rare with tomato only on a brioche bun. It came well done with bacon and a sesame seed bun and no tomato. It cannot be made rare I realized because their burgers are not the big juicy ones they use to serve. I spoke to a manager who sent out a replacement. It came with everything, no cheese and a stale bun. I guess I now know why restaurants just dont do the kind of business they once did. We went to Reds expecting a great BBQ experience, however, they did not deliver. My Baby Back Ribs were tough and I could not even get all the meat off the bones. Even drenched with BBQ sauce the ribs were not very good. The baked potato was not white inside but kind of brown. I used a lot of sour cream and the potato tasted kind of okay. I normally eat the skin but it did not look good so I left it. My Son liked the hamburger and his fries. The seating is kind of outdated but comfortable. The seating would work for young ones too. Chris, our server was great. The only thing I was not happy about was being charged for rolls when my son asked for some to go. My bad, I probably should have asked. I would not return. read more

It's been almost a year since our last visit to Red's. Taking the ribeyes off the menu sort of made the choice for us as that was the family favorite item. I was really in the mood for some beef ribs and floated the idea of giving Red's a try again and luckily my idea was welcomed by the crew. Our late lunch was simply wonderful. I had the half order of beef ribs with bbq beans and rice pilaf. Absolutely delicious and I wound up taking two ribs, a roll, plus most of the beans home for a second meal. Oh, and before I forget, our amazing server Braeden, recommended the buffalo cauliflower appetizer and it was incredible. Totally unique with an incredible crunch and not too hot flavor. Outstanding! The iced tea was perfect. Tasted very fresh and was served with a lemon wedge and plenty of ice, in a word, wonderful. It seems that during the time away from Red's, there were some great changes. We've been to Red several times and the food is always really good and comparable to Wood Ranch, and the service has always been great too. My complaint is the place is filthy! I mean, nasty, old stained carpet (who has carpet in a restaurant), trash and food all over the floor, paint chipping or completely gone from around the door. We decided we won't be coming again just because we can't imagine what the kitchen looks like if the dining area is so gross and dirty. Went to lunch here today w/my Husband & Step Son. We've come here many times & everything was very delicious. Today, however, my Baby Back Ribs were a bit over cooked & I had to wait over 10 min's. to receive the Grilled Corn that I had ordered. I mentioned to my Husband that I didn't understand what was taking so long just as the Mgr. walked by & must have overheard me. He then went to our waiter & inquired with him - it was brought to me a few minutes later. Definitely not worth the wait at $4.29. Had 1 small grill mark, no butter, seasonings etc....I would not recommend wasting your money. I don't as a rule return food (this statement should be self explanatory). Maybe the cook(s) were just off their game today. We'll give it another try in the future & hopefully everything will be as good as usual. read more

I guess it's been about 7 years since the last time I've been here, and I won't be back. The tri-tip tastes like they cook it way ahead of time and then put it in a steam tray of some kind to stay warm all day. It was very tough and chewy and had the texture and flavor of a meat that had been boiled. Same with the baked potato. Even the rolls weren't fresh. This place used to be very solid. Okay, last week me and my family visited Red's BBQ, and as usual enjoyed the food. However, towards the end of our meal, we hear a server say the she "HATES MEXICAN PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DON'T TIP. " She then follows up with saying that she wishes ICE would just take them. I was furious to hear this! I contacted the manager the next day. I assumed that the restaurant would not want someone like that providing service to people. We returned to Reds on Wednesday, and GUESS WHO WAS STILL WORKING THERE!? So clearly Reds does not care about the customers, and don't seem to care about racial remarks said in front of CHILDREN! We will not be returning here again. And if Reds is reading this, just think about the fact that your waitress is racist, and you did nothing to prevent that from happening again. read more

I really wanted to like it and took my friend to Red's to give it another chance. My steak was tender, but under seasoned. My friend said the same about her steak. My mixed vegetables were overcooked and bland. The macaroni and cheese were tasteless. Red's steak and their sides use to be superb. On point. And this is the third time where I tried different sides and hoped it was like the good ol' days. Those days are long gone.
