Fresh, fresh fish and seafood to cook at home - the salmon melts in your mouth and crab cakes better than any restaurant. Even their cocktail sauce has a distinct superb flavor. Or order from their cooked menu- have ordered the calamari, fish sandwich and lobster roll and all excellent beyond expectation. Friendly staff and fresh fish. Love how passionate they are about their sourcing of ingredients. Everything displayed and involved in cookery is attached to the business it came from all the way down to the fisherman and ship that caught the fish. My friend got the fish tacos and lobster bisque, I got seaweed and calamari salad with the fresh catch (haddock) salad and then fries to split. The salad was a bit more decked out than expected- with red peppers and onions- which was well appreciated! The fries were great with the buttermilk salad dressing which sounds strange but def would recommend trying out. The seaweed salad was a bit meh to me and the calamari salad was extremely good but totally swimming in olive oil so was a bit off putting. A great stop for a quick eat all in all. read more

This is undoubtedly the best place to grab lunch/dinner in the North End. Fish is fresh and sustainably caught and I love that everything is reasonably priced. $1.50 for a freshly shucked oyster? Yes please! The employees were very friendly and said the most popular items among tourists are, of course, the lobster rolls and clam chowder. Locals tend to like the Po'boy and fish tacos. I opted for the fish taco. It was perfected fried, NOT greasy, and contained a generous amount of a citrus-y slaw. Next time I'm in the area, I'll get the steamed lobster, which is $12-$13/lb. You can take home and cook on your own or ask them to steam it for you! read more

The BEST lobster roll I had in Boston!!! Little seafood spot inside the Boston Public Market where you can buy seafood to bring home and/or order sandwiches-everything is made upon order. The bread was fresh and crunchy, with HUGE chunks of lobster (did not skimp on the meat at all). Very very tasty lobster, didn't need any added ingredients to the roll. Would 110% recommend if you're in the area. read more

Everything you have heard is 100% true!! About this place.Fresh local fish, raw bar, and short order kitchen menu. The seafood is locally caught by YOUR New England fisherman. Prior to my visit here, I was never really in love with lobster rolls. I love lobster but all the places I've tried really missed the mark in my opinion. I was pretty much convinced that I just didn't like lobster rolls in general. Red's Best changed my mind. The lobster rolls here are super fresh and great quality. It was also a fairly decent portion. They definitely did not skimp out on the lobster at all. What really made this place for me was the fact that their lobster rolls were not heavily doused in mayo. It was a light amount of mayo with a lot of fresh aromatics like celery and herbs. The light amount of mayo really complimented the sweet lobster meat without being too overbearing. The bread roll was also really great. It was so buttery but again didn't overpower the lobster. I was also really impressed with their fried oysters. They were super rich and indulgent but again still very tasty. I highly suggest this spot if you're looking for a great lobster roll in Boston. read more

Came in to get some lunch and get my parking ticket validated from some errands I had to run at city hall, I got the $9 fish sandwich and honestly wasn't expecting much. I waited only like 10 mins and then was given this beautiful hot crunchy amazing fish sandwich that tasted light and fresh! Honestly shocked and amazed about the price and quality of this place. On a whim, while strolling downtown, the wife and I happened upon the public market and Reds Best. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and a great selection of very fresh seafood. The haddock we got was only outshined by the house salmon burgers, we're both astonished by how awesome they were. Stopped in for a couple of lobster rolls and Red's does not disappoint. Each roll was stuffed with piles of fresh and delicious lobster! Located in the Boston Public Market, Red's also offers sushi, stuffed clams and other fare. My advice is start with the lobster roll; you will love it and come back for the other menu items too! The best lobster roll!!! This was my very first lobster roll so I did a lot of research! It had always been a dream of mine to go to the Boston Market so I fulfilled two dreams in one day! My boyfriend and I ordered the lobster roll, clam chowder, lobster bisque, and the fries. Everything was perfect. The lobster roll was filled with delicious chunks of lobster and no filler. I think they use a little mayo to bind it together but not very much. Best "chowda" and bisque I had in Boston also. Don't forget the fries- they were epic too! 4.5* I'm quite a big fan of Red's. If I had a sudden craving for quick place to grab fresh/reliable seafood, chances are I'll be heading over to Red's. Red's offers a variety of Boston seafood classics ranging from oysters to chowdah and lobster rolls. The tastiest options in my opinion are the fish tacos, salmon burger, fish and chips and then any of the rolls with fried oysters, lobster or fried scallops. Lobster bisque and clam chowder are also good at Red's, though I am no connoisseur in liquid seafood! Aside from the aforementioned, Red's offers many pre-packaged takeout items ranging from tuna salad to sushi. I've also tried a few items from the 'market' counter of Red's (which I believe is the main purpose of the shop). Some of these items are a bit too pricey, with the scallops currently hovering around $28/lb being almost twice as expensive as the local supermarket. That being said, the fish is fresh and Red's prides itself in being sustainable which is quite important. Finally, the fellas working the stand, and Ryan in particular, are great with the customers and very knowledgeable about what is being sold (again, important when it comes to seafood). The only regret besides the slightly pricey market items is that you have to duke it out with the rest of the market for seats during lunch and this can be tricky during the weekend! Overall, if you are in Boston and want to avoid the lineups to the typical seafood joints, give Red' a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

I came in today and purchased salmon and tuna to use for sashimi at home. The fish were fresh and delicious! The employee behind the counter was helpful in picking a size that would be good for the meal I wanted to make and even removed the salmon skin. Awesome service and products here. The people are really nice and here are my thoughts on the food. $19 lobster roll - good amount of lobster meat but I found it to be dry and lacking taste. Maybe a pour of butter and seasonings would the trick. The bun wasn't really fresh either. I preferred Luke's lobster roll over this version. $14 fried oysters - yummy, small portion but good. $8 bowl of lobster bisque - I was disappointed with this version. Thickened with roux and not much taste to it. I've had better. read more

BRUNCH AT BOSTON PUBLIC MARKET One of my favorite things to do at BPM is to wander around the various vendors nibling things (some free!) for brunch. And a must-stop place is Red's Best Seafood, who always have 1 or 2 varieties of raw East Coast oysters they'll shuck for you to eat in the market (they apparently also do buck-a-shuck, but I'm not sure of the schedule). If you are very lucky, the'll have live local sea urchin, which I've never had anywhere else, and which I gather is in season now. This time we had: Hand-raked Littleneck Clams from Chatam, Live Sea Urchin from Marblehead, and Oysters from Wellfleet and Kingston at Red's Best in Boston Public Market. Was only able to get one of the live uni, since the rest were bad (Red's wouldn't serve them), and so they gave me the clams and a couple of more oysters for free! [For dessert, don't forget to head over to Maria's across the street in the North End for the best cannoli without any annoying tourist lines.] read more

If you visit the BPM on the first Sunday of every month, Red's Best in the market does $1 shuck! I couldn't resist getting a dozen. The Boyfriend doesn't eat seafood so I had a feast of oysters all to myself! The oysters are really great and fresh; however, I do feel it could've been a better shuck or it might've been due to the origin of the oyster but they were a little grittier than I like. Still - great deal, immensely fresh oyster with lots of meat. You can also obtain a variety of fresh seafood. read more

Probably the best, freshest seafood I've had in a while. More on the expensive side (fried oysters -$12, lobster roll - $15, onion rings - $6) buy generous portions. It's inside the public market so be prepared that you may have to stand up to eat but totally worth it! read more

You can tell they know what they're doing here, even the way they shuck it is nice and clean, no shell pieces or anything. Their menu actually has like 10+ kinds of oysters, highly selective and premium. I really wish we had more time (and stomach space) to try more. But we already had like 3 dinners planned that night lol so this was more like a "stop by and eat as much oysters as possible" situation. Honestly I'm pretty sure the other food here is just as good, based on what I saw on other tables. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Boston.

Nice decor at the bar. You can order from the same food menu. I ordered the nana's egg sandwich in a pita - it was essentially an omelette sandwich with boursin, olive tapenade, cucumber, tomato and schug which is a green hot sauce which I got on the side. It was quite interesting- not what I had expected and next time I would ask to omit the olive tapenade. I asked for ketchup to add in. It was a really good portion- probably 2 or 3 eggs. Very hearty and filling. The friend ordered the eggplant quinoa bowl which comes in this sauce and very cheesy. Comes with bread - really tasty! Bartender was friendly and service was great!

If you come here on a regular day, this place is a zoo. Tons of people, but the lines do move…read morequickly. If you want a cannoli, a picture menu is on the walls. I know there is a competition between Mike's and Modern about who has the best pastries, but Mike wins if you want flavored cannolis. Any flavor you can think of is posted on the walls. I tried the butter pecan and the Dubai chocolate, but I was blown over by the Dubai chocolate. My wife also prefers the macaroons and other cookies at Mike's. Cash only, but the prices are good. Mike's goes crazy with the string when they tie up the boxes...I guess that's a Boston thing. We came back on a rainy day and were able to order right away. This place is worth a visit.

It's probably because it's a block from the Freedom Trail near Paul Revere's house and popular Italian restaurants and shops. If you see people walking around with a white (multiple cannolis/desserts) or blue (single cannoli) box tied with string, you know you must be nearby a Mike's Pastry. Though the line gets long, it does move quickly, and there are periods where it's not so crowded inside. It's cash only at this location. I didn't think I'd be here that day and realized I didn't crab enough cash but saw the sign for Uber Eats and GrubHub pick up, so I just placed an order for pick up from my phone on Uber Eats. It took about 5 minutes when I got my cute blue box order. There is a Bank of America down the same street if you need to withdraw cash which I later did. I'm sure there's also ATMs nearby. I think it's easier and quicker to order through Uber Eats or GrubHub and pick up. I've been here once before about 12 years ago. I tried the pistachio cannoli that time and loved it. This time, I wanted to try a different flavor, so I got the hazelnut cannoli. It didn't have the nuts I was expecting from the photo on the wall. It didn't quite taste like hazelnut to me at all. I regretted not trying something else. I eventually did at Hub Hall (another food hall) connected to North Station. This location is a little more expensive by $1-2 for cannolis compared to the one in Hub Hall and sells other desserts like turnovers, donuts, croissants and sticks if you don't want a cannoli (but then why come here for anything else?) There's also nowhere to sit.

Extremely fresh fish with generous portions in a casual, underground space…read more I think this is a reasonably priced establishment for the level of fish (phenomenal) and service (reasonable and attentive, but not like a fancier sit down restaurant) that you get. I am always surprised at how full I am when I leave! I'm stuffed every time. There is complementary miso soup with all of the bowls I've tried, outlined below. I really loved all of the bowls I've tried but my favorites are probably the Sake Aisuru Don and Kuromon Don. I just prefer more salmon to more tuna though, and they're all very good! Food: - Sake Aisuru Don: their classic all-salmon bowl! I loved the larger cuts of salmon, and I was pleasantly surprised that even the more pulverized salmon was flavorful! - Kuromon Don: loved the yellowtail in this! Each fish comes with two pieces (except the mackerel for which there are four), and I liked the sampler style for the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and izumidai. - Maguro Toro Don: so much tuna! And all such high quality. The otoro was so fatty that it practically melted in my mouth without chewing. - Sake Maguro Hamachi Don: a mix of salmon, blue fin tuna, and yellowtail. I liked the yellowtail in this a lot and found that it stood out the most from the other two fish in this particular bowl!

It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!
