These are the items we ordered. -Pali Cali 4/5: delicious flatbread full of flavor. The chicken was very seasoned and perfect. -Habibi's Harvest 5/5: This was a delicious flatbread! Every ingredient complements the others very well, making the perfect bite. This is a must-have. -Falafel Salad 5/5: This was another favorite! The falafel was very flavorful, and the lemon tahini made the salad dry, refreshing, and well-balanced. -Baba Ghanouj 4/5: I personally enjoyed this dip a lot, but it wasn't my friend's favorite. Gorgeous presentation of the mezze plate, accompanied by a basket of steaming pita! Hummus, baba ganoush, muhammara, and labneh, with picked beets and cauliflower, plus a generous portion of olives. Hummus is smooth and creamy, baba ganoush is smokey, muhammara is sweet and chunky, and labneh is light. Minus one star for the pita. I feel like pita is the foundation of a Mediterranean restaurant. This is purely a review for Reem's chocolate tahini cookie. Would love to try the other food options someday, but I mainly come here for the cookie. Saw that their cookie was rated the best cookie in SF by The SF Chronicle, so I had to try it. Liked it a lot the first time, and have gotten the cookie a handful of other times whenever I'm in the Mission or at the Ferry Building. It's pretty good; I love the toasted sesame seeds all over the cookie, the chocolate chips are nice and gooey, and the tahini gives it a nice lil bit of umami. Crispy edges and soft center is my preference for chocolate chip cookie texture, and this cookie has it. Doesn't hold up as well cold, but once I give it a quick toast, it's a solid 7.5-8/10 cookie. read more

Love this place. Everything I've had just makes me so happy. Today I had the lamb wrap with consommé and it was soooo juicy. Lamb was perfectly seasoned, super rich and brightened up with my fav - red pickled onions. The consommé on the side was a sophisticated touch. Looks spicy but is actually mellow, and with a squeeze of lemon it's delightful. Ambience is bright and lively, and staff seem very nice. Simple menu makes ordering easy. Definitely get the refreshing watermelon & feta appetizer. Mezze sampler was also fantastic! Consider getting extra bread for all the hummus, labneh, and harissa-based sauce - we felt like the one piece of bread we got wasn't enough. The pickled cauliflower was especially good. Falafel was fresh (you can ask for it as a side - you get 6 pieces), and the accompanying sauce perfectly flavorful. The MLM flatbread is a delicious pick. Cheese man'oushe was classically salty (a bit too much for my taste & my least favorite of the dishes), and za'atar man'oushe was good but not mindblowing. I wasn't familiar with the names of foods on their menu or what they would taste like. I've had Mediterranean (Palestinian) food many times down the street from there and it was delicious. I was super disappointed with what I ordered. It was the Pali Cali. I asked the lady at the register if it was like chicken Shawarma. That's what she suggested I order. It was wrapped in a pita type bread but it was so soggy I had to gag it down. It's hard to throw food away when it's a $21 wrap. Even their Knafeh was soggy. My stomach is not happy. read more

My daughter chose Arabic food so we went to Reem's and found ourselves in a welcoming, brightly lit, corner restaurant with upbeat music in the Mission. I feel like with this food markup, there should be more staff. I won't be going back here. The food is too expensive for what you get. Went to Reem's on a Thursday evening, and there was a slight wait to be seated indoors, so it's clearly a popular place. The interior is really bright and colorful. The person trying to seat us was really helpful and gracious, and we viewed / ordered off the QR code as soon as we sat down. We got the muhamarra, hummus, and two pitas (one with zaatar and the other with beef). The muhamarra was probably my favorite; it was a little chunkier, and the deep roasted flavor and sweetness kept me going back with my fresh, warm pita. The hummus was also delicious - very light and the olive oil was really high quality (tbh I don't fully know how to tell good and bad olive oil but ... this olive oil felt obviously good). The zaatar pita dish was so flavorful, crunchy, and satisfying - the veggies and hot sauce on top elevated the whole dish. For two people, we both left with a good amount of leftovers: 3 dishes would have been fine but it was nice to taste more of the menu. I really didn't take notice of what took over the late, lamented Mission Pie at the corner of Mission and 25th. I was watching a new episode of "Check, Please! Bay Area" and saw them spotlight this brightly colored Arabic cafe which to my chagrin, has been at this prime location for the past three years. Owner Reem Assil came by way of the female-driven incubator La Cocina. The flatbreads and mezza looked fresh and quite appetizing. When I was taking an early evening stroll on Mission, I had come upon this place by surprise since I had already eaten but was quite curious. I stepped in and decided to have the $3.50 Chocolate Chip Halawa Cookie since it was basically calling my name...in Arabic (photo). I didn't know what halawa was but soon discovered its joy. It's a sesame paste made with tahini, and they mix it with TCHO chocolate chunks and toasted sesame seeds (photo: https://bit.ly/3ktIRSo). Reem's is one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in SF - absolutely delicious spot. It's a small spot in mission, the first time we went we had to wait. We ordered Beet Mutabal, Ful Medammas, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, Falafel and Labneh. Dishes like Mutabal and Ful aren't found in a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants in the city (as far as I have seen) - this place is really authentic. As a vegetarian, I feel like I had many options here. All the food was delicious- the highlight were the potatoes, they were crispy and flavorful. I also enjoyed my drink - the orange blossom spritz. The only con was that we felt rushed towards the end - the restaurant shuts down quite fast even if there are customers past closing time. My coworker said the Chocolate Chip Halawa Cookie was his favorite, so I knew I had to try it. I ordered through their catering menu a week before needed it. They only allow catering orders 3+ days in advance. I ordered one order of Dozen Halawa Chocolate Chip Cookies and an order of Assorted Dozen Desserts, which should've included one dozen assorted desserts (nammoura, baklawa, halawa chocolate chip cookies). I'm rating this first experience of mine a 4 because they didn't include Nammoura in the order of one dozen desserts. It only included baklawa and halawa chocolate chip cookies. See picture for reference. They should've given me the heads up that they couldn't include Nammoura or at least said why it wasn't included? I probably would've ordered something else instead. Baba ghanouj 5/5: Loved it Batata nara (garlic fries) 3/5: Didn't have as much garlic flavor or crisp as I'd hoped Falafel 5/5: Yum! Super crunchy outside and soft and warm inside. Muhammara 5/5: I didn't know muhammara was chunky since I'd only had it a few times smooth before. Great flavor, but I think I prefer it non-chunky. I came by with friends; we ordered the pali cali flatbread, falafel salad, za'atar man'oushe, the mezze sampler, and a chocolate chip halawa cookie. Some brief notes: -The za'atar man'oushe comes understated. Thin crisp (but not crunchy, thank god) flatbread slathered with olive/sumac/salt/herbs; things don't have to be complicated to be good. -The falafel is beautifully crispy and is halved to present extra color in the salad, but that means we miss out on the full crisp. Then, too, I'd love extra mint and more salt on the tomatoes. -The mezze sampler comes by default with one pita. I recommend getting extra. The labneh is wonderful and pairs well with beets (incidentally, there's a NYT cooking recipe involving labneh, honey, and beets that is very good). -The pali cali, what I came for, has good tender chicken. But it ends there. I'm not sure about arugula as a topper, but pickled onions are correct. -The cookie is essentially a salted chocolate chip cookie with sesame seeds sprinkled liberally over the top of the dough and in a ring on the underside. The seeds help with the edge-crunch, but once through the edge, the crunch disappears. The salt makes it unbalanced; I get crystals of salt which don't unlock the chocolate, as the chips aren't particularly large. read more
