While on our annual mother/daughter trip to the Leelanau Peninsula we found Reflect Bistro on Yelp and decided to give it a try. What we didn't know was Reflect has been consistently voted the number one restaurant in Traverse City year after year. I usually take that with a grain of salt because there's so many wonderful farm to table restaurants and unique dining experiences in TC. It takes quite a bit to stand out and to make it to the top but Reflect Bistro is worthy of the hype. We were surprised to find out it's located in inside the Cambria hotel. A top rated restaurant in a hotel? Yes absolutely. Skipping lunch we decided to have an early dinner and arrived during Happy Hour. On Happy Hour drinks are 20% off and they have small plates and select appetizers on special. Our bartender/waitress was excellent. She made great suggestions. My mom and I shared the whitefish pate appetizer (on the HH menu) which came with warm fresh seasoned ciabatta bread. We each ordered our main course off the dinner menu. I went with the seafood pot pie. It came highly recommended by both our waitress and the couple sitting next to us. Lobster, scallops, shrimp, vegetables and redskin potatoes in lobster cream sauce all served in a puff pastry shell. To use a baseball colloquialism: they knocked it out of the park! Last but certainly not least the Pappardelle fruit de mur with a creamy clam sauce was another winner. It had lobster, shrimp, and scallops mixed throughout and then was topped with fried calamari. The portions were generous and we each had enough for a doggy bag. Reflect Bistro is definitely a place we will be revisiting on our next trip!

Our server was friendly, helpful, and knew her way around the menu. The atmosphere was lovely with the big open windows. The food was delightful. We had the beignet for appetizer. Corn beef hash, and short rib benedict. For beverages we did an NA mimosa: soda water and orange juice.

Service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. We stayed at the hotel there for two nights and didn't even dream of eating there until the morning we were leaving. We sat down and had breakfast and I was so angry with myself that we had already checked out and we should have been eating here the whole time. I can totally see why they have won best restaurant 6 years in a row. Portions are not skimpy but not gluttonous. I love the little fruit salad topped with freshly whipped cream, you could totally taste it was freshly whipped cream, with every dish and an option for a tomato basil salad instead of getting potatoes, since I'm not a big potato person. I could cut my filet with the butter knife and it was perfectly cooked I can't say enough good things about this place. I did feel like the prices for dinner we're on the higher end but if their quality of their food was anything like what we had for breakfast it's probably worth the price.

Elegant and delicious! On our way to the Upper peninsula we stopped for oysters during happy hour. Very standard "East Coast Oysters" but always hit the spot! Happy hour is a 20% discount, Oysters not included! Chris was an excellent bartender, she was super relaxed and poised to help! The restaurant itself was pretty dead but the bar rail was pretty populated. All in all a fantastic happy hour spot for nicer drinks and one of the only northern Michigan spots for Oysters!!!

With all the great places to eat in traverse city why would you go to a hotel lobby to eat? Because the food is really good and always great service !!! They are remodeling so it's going to be an updated atmosphere too.

That being picky though, the place feels welcoming and is brightly lit and feels well cared for. I ordered the Pot Roast ($20). It's described as slow roasted with carrots and onions and mashed potatoes. It was fantastic. The meat was tender and delicious. the gravy was perfect without overpowering. The carrots and onions were a great compliment. Plus the real mashed potatoes were made to perfection. Smooth, yet still had the potatoness to the texture. The taste was one of the better mashed potatoes I've had in TC. I don't know what they do th their TC Cherry Coke, but it is spectacular. Lastly for dessert I got their Lava Cake ($7), it was fine, but disappointing after such a great meal. I don't know if it was from frozen or what. However the texture was a little off andvthe taste was only okay. I wouldn't get it again. The service was very friendly and super helpful. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Since I have to round, I'm going to forgive the dessert and give a full 5 stars. Would I return? Absolutely. Especially if I'm craving Pot Roast.

I had a wonderful first visit to Sugar to Salt and will definitely be back…read more I ordered the breakfast risotto with a side of the cast-iron cornbread. The risotto was outstanding--loaded with incredibly fresh vegetables, smoky tasso ham, creamy raclette cheese, and one of the best pestos I've ever tasted. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about risotto for breakfast, but it absolutely worked. The cast-iron cornbread was also excellent, especially the honey butter glaze and the whole kernels of corn throughout. The service was warm and friendly, even during a very busy brunch. This is definitely on the pricier side, but I felt the quality of the ingredients, the creativity of the menu, and the care that went into every dish made it worth it. My only food-related criticism was that my poached egg was just slightly overcooked, but it was a very minor issue in an otherwise exceptional meal. My biggest suggestion for improvement would be the acoustics inside the dining room. When the restaurant is busy, the noise level becomes overwhelming and takes away from what is otherwise a fantastic dining experience. I ended up sitting outside, and the patio was peaceful and relaxing. I hope the owners consider adding some acoustic treatment because the food deserves an atmosphere that matches its quality. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying several other dishes on the menu.

They don't have an espresso machine but they brew a really good espresso blend. For breakfast, we ordered the carrot cake pancakes, the toast, and a side of turkey sausage. Everything is farm to table and made fresh. The food is incredible. I ordered the carrot cake pancakes. The attention to detail with the candied ginger and homemade rosemary simple syrup was noted. My belly was so happy. The side of Turkey sausage was so good. It's not your basic sausage. They are homemade with roasted onions, leeks, and herbs. This changes every season, which is so exciting. My husband's toast was made with brisket. I tried a bite. The combination of fresh veggies, homemade bread, and brisket was so good. Vanessa was our server. She was so great! So friendly and helpful. This is one of my all time favorite breakfast places. Can't wait to come back.

PRO TIP: order online ahead of time to skip the line!…read more This bagel shop is super popular and there was a line out the door when we arrived on a Monday morning. We got to skip the wait and I just grabbed my order from the shelf. I did have to wait at the counter for them to fill my coffee cup, but I appreciated that it was hot and fresh. The space is small, with no dine-in area, but they seem to move through everyone's orders pretty quickly. I got the nosh (Louie's bacon, Tillamook cheddar, egg, and scallion cream cheese) on a black pepper parmesan bagel. You can also choose from a few other sandwich options, including a rotating feature. The bagel and schmear options lean more savory vs. sweet, which is my personal preference. The bagel was chewy and the sandwich held up pretty well, but I do wish it had a bit more shmear so I might add extra next time. The bagel itself wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping in the sandwich combo, but as I got towards the end I was noticing more of the parmesan. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

The Sausage Gravy omelet, with the house-made sausage gravy, rye toast, and the homemade strawberry jam was terrific. The omelet was not only super tasty, but it was enormous! It was extremely filling and the strawberry jam was excellent! The Chimichurri omelet with gluten free toast was equally flavorful with loads of prime rib and chimichurri sauce both inside and on top. It was so big, it could have been 2 breakfasts. The Chimichurri sauce was spot-on, the prime rib was tender and well-seasoned, but had just a bit too much fat on some of the pieces. The GF toast was far better than most places (it was actually the size of a normal piece of toast, not like the dinky gf substitutes you normally get) and accentuated with that same strawberry jam, took it up a notch! The Avocado Toast (also on GF toast) was good, but the avocado mash had just a tad bit too much lemon in the mix that made it a little cheek puckering; however, the tomatoes were fresh, the goat cheese was generously portioned and tasty, and the egg on topped was cooked to perfection. I'd certainly give this one a 2nd chance. The star of the show? The fresh squeezed OJ! Perhaps the best OJ any of us have ever had...seriously. Everyone in our family agreed, and we all went ham on our glasses of juice (LOL). The outside of the building doesn't lead you to expect the amazing level of food that is coming out of the kitchen. Don't get me wrong - the inside is bright, quaint, cozy, and super clean, but the food speaks volumes at a much higher decibel. Our server, Annika, was utterly outstanding! She was funny, personable, engaging, and informative. She made great suggestions, had great stories, and knew how to sell (she sold us on the OJ by sharing how it was made, how much she liked it, and how it was worth all the work they do to make it because of how good it is). Thank you, Annika, for keeping us laughing and making a normal breakfast an unforgettable family outing! We're already making plans for our next visit when we're in TC again.
