This theater normally provides good service, but they were off their game on Friday night. Standing in line to buy some concession products, one staff member was totally overwhelmed, and then to his left was a good 10 to 15 employees all huddled up laughing joking and making a lot of noise, and having no interest in waiting on the customers. It wasn't worth the wait or the aggravation to spend A lot of time in line to buy overpriced stuff. In the theater itself, someone fell asleep at the switch because all of the lights were on even during the previews in the beginning of the movie, until someone went and grabbed a employee and they immediately shut the lights off . read more

My family and I were lucky enough to receive complimentary tickets from Yelp Austin to the movie screening of Spies in Disguise! The staff was friendly and well organized. They did a great job of keeping all cell phones out of the theater for the private event, and entertained the kiddos by passing out secret agent bow ties before the movie started. Super cute! The movie was so good!! It was entertaining for kids and adults-- I LOL'd a few times for sure. If you haven't seen this movie yet, go check it out! The theater is nice-- having a pretty standard layout and food options, with wine and beer on tap. The seating inside of the theater is dated and could use an upgrade. Recliners would be nice! You collect points when you buy tickets or concessions and later you can redeem your points for a free popcorn or a free movie ticket depending on your points collected. Painful experience! 1) Small imax theatre 2) PAINFULLY LOUD!! After several patrons complained we asked the manager Jeff to turn the volume down. He asked to clarify if we wanted it turned up and I it is wayy too loud in the theatre please turn it down, and I also signaled with my hands. Idk why, but instead they turned the volume louder to where even with covering our ears the sound physically hurt. Understand that we go to rock concerts so loud typically isn't a problem. We left the movie and got a refund. 3) The screens do not wrap around like imax 4) The seats are stiff and uncomfortable 5) Chairs are closely squeezed into rows similar to an airplane, so people cannot pass without you standing up and then it's still difficult 6) The theatre seating does not go up steeply the way a normal IMAX theatre is so there isn't a lot of headroom to easily see over the people in front of you. I would definitely think twice before going to see a movie at this theater. My husband went to see Oppenheimer in imax yesterday arrived during daylight and parked under a streetlight in their parking lot. Came out to discover the streetlight was non functional and the back passenger window of his truck was smashed in. The whole truck had been rummaged through. Two other vehicles were also hit. Management said this has become a commonplace occurrence at their theater and despite knowing it's a trend they've done nothing to increase security or raise awareness amongst patrons. read more

It's a little bit of a drive out of our way, but we think it's one of the nicer more upscale ones, not including the Alamo theaters. I saw Marvel Endgame here with my kids. Simply put the theater needs to be upgraded. The movie needless to say was awesome, however it wasn't the best experience as the seats were comfortable and the theater was dingy. The seats are like auditorium seats that fold up. My kids weren't comfortable they're about 50lbs each and depending on how they sat they seats would fold up slightly. I definitely won't be back and there's so much more comfortable movie theaters in Austin. read more

Accidentially bought tickets to the wrong movie. Instantly realized, and emailed movietickets, who told me the theatre would have to refund it. The phone number on here isn't even this establishments number. To even reach this theatre you need to get through the automated menu, then no one answers the phone and there is no voicemail set up. This place is super big! There was a long line of cars coming into the theater. I parked on the far left to get onto the side of the theater. This place can get packed on a weekend. The concession lines were all long!!! They serve beer and wine here. You get a wristband when you purchase beer or wine. Cool! They also serve pizza, corn dog nuggets and chicken nuggets. That's cool! I went with the nachos. They give you a tray with the nacho cheese and a bag of Tostitos. That's different, but cool. My coworker thought it was more sanitary to give me a bag of chips. I agree. Just be sure to sign up for the Regal Crown Club so you can start earning points on your purchases. Be sure to have them scan your card or download the mobile app so they can scan your QR code. You earn points for every dollar you spend. The theater (theater 6) is a good size theater. They have cup holders near the cushion of the chair and you can pull the arm rest down (if it's up) to use the cup holder. That's cool! Plenty of drink holders. The seats don't recline. I think I appreciated the fact that my shoes were not sticking to the floor like other movies theaters. Lol read more

I was awarded complimentary tickets to see The Call of the Wild through Yelp. This was my first Yelp event. I took my 84 year old mother with me that has to use a walker. When we first arrived, there was a HUGE line outside, and it was very cold that night. I remember Yelp saying to not wait in line and to go straight to the table. Plus, there was no way my mom could have waited outside in the cold standing for that long. So, my mom and I walked through another door and headed directly to the table. Everyone was very nice to us. I know they didn't expect my mom to wait. So, we handed over our phones, received an ink stamp on the back of our hands and entered the theater. The theater was already nearly full. I asked a nice couple, who had 1 free seat on each side of them, if they could move down one seat, so my mother and I can sit together. They did, and it was close to the bottom of the stairs, so my mom only had to use one step to get to her seat. People kept coming in. More and more people! Couples had to separate and sit in different areas, etc. It was a bit crazy. My mom decided she wanted popcorn, so I dash to the food line. I was surprised how so very overly priced everything was. $8.99 for a SMALL popcorn! What??? That's just ridiculous! The movie started late, but it was a great movie. This may not be entirely fair to Regal Gateway, however, several times we have gotten passes to attend previews at this theater ( always this theater) and it is"oversold". We drive from the opposite side of town, in traffic, often for an hour to attend, and more often than not lately, have been been turned away. So, how about, using the Regal cinema on the south end of town a little more often? Or, maybe not issuing as many passes, perhaps not twice the capacity of the theater? Free passes to previews are the only reason I have to be traveling across town on the heaviest traffic-time and day of the week when there are two more convenient Regal theaters nearby. read more

I had a gift card which at the time of payment that could not be accessed. At the end of the film the provider of the gift card sent me a new link which worked. I brought the gift card electronically, to the manager and said could you please refund me and deduct the payment for this film and concession from the card? I normally take my family to Alamo Drafthouse, but wanted to see Sound of Freedom. The theater could use some updating, but they seem to be willing to screen great films that don't get picked up by other theaters. Got the Regal Pass but all three movies I've seen at this theater had very low audio. Almost sounds like they turned the bass down. I talked to an employee after the movie about this issue and they said to let the staff know when I have the issue next time. Meaning, I need to interrupt my movie experience to tell them to soundcheck, which should be a standard procedure for them before screenings. In addition to low audio, the rows are so tight that you have to scuttle across seats. It's sad that this is the only Regal theater north of the river. read more

Not too crazy about their IMAX prices. Paid $20 a ticket only to find out their IMAX screen is quite small. I've been to other non-IMAX screens that are bigger (and paid nowhere near $20). Last night I booked two tickets online for the 10:10 showing of Detective Pikachu, which my boyfriend has been wanting to see for a while now. We thought we were going to arrive late and miss some previews, but we walked into an empty auditorium and a gray screen. After double-checking that we were in the right theater, my bf went to ask an employee why the movie wasn't playing. Turns out the projector was broken! The online listings hadn't been updated. After we spoke to an employee, the manager approached us. The way she handled the situation is why I'm giving them 5 stars. She offered me a refund AND either rain check tickets or seeing another movie playing that night. I would have expected one or the other, an even trade. The "IMAX" screen was so small, it should NOT qualify as an IMAX screen. Worse yet was how cramped the theater seats were... the tightest fit we have ever been in and we are not that tall under 6 feet. It was like being on a super cheep discount airline. I came here with my husband to watch war dogs before having a nice dinner at Eddie Vs. The theater was just okay. It doesn't have reserve seating or recliners. The movie theater will need to update soon to match the times. The movie theater location is great because near a lot of things to include Whole Foods, Nordstorm Rack, SAMs club, The container store, etc. The parking lot can be a challenge as it gets filled up quickly. read more

I had a lot of free tickets for movies for this place so I decided to start using them this year. I am a big fan of Alamo, but, this place will do for second choice when you have free passes. It's just your standard multiplex with nothing to brag about, but, something to bitch about for sure. The men's bathrooms are too damn small. Two urinals and two stalls? Come on guys I almost took a whiz in the sink! One time I came here and they didn't have the screen on, so, half way through the previews I went out to find an attendant to alert them but no one was around. I had to go to the guy checking tickets at the main entrance! Other times the theater has been too warm. Most recent time in we caught Jurassic World 3D in IMAX. Their 3D recyclable glasses suck. Way too much glare! A real distraction from the movie. Bring our own glasses if you have them. The theater was packed, and, once again too damned hot! read more

BFF and I have a regular date every week. Oftentimes, when it's rainy or too hot outside, our date of choice is to have a couple of purples and queso at Baby A's, then mosey/stumble across the street for a movie here. BFF, always the bargain hunter, has been a member of their "Crown Club" for awhile and finally got me on board so we can get discounted stuff. I think we've about had it with this spot unfortunately. They should rename the club the Regal CLOWN Club. On our prior visit, BFF had enough points for a free ticket. "Well, we can't use it this visit, you'll have to do it on your next one", they told him. So, yesterday, he positively skipped up to the window to get his free ticket and was informed he needed to bring in the ticket stub from his last visit....from two months ago.....to get the free ticket. Oh, you mean that tiny piece of paper that is most likely stuck to the bottom of some other patron's shoe?? That tiny piece of paper I no doubt washed in my jeans??? Are you telling me that this here phone app, that clearly has a QC reader and says that he has enough points for a free ticket, isn't enough???? Fuming, we bought our tickets and entered. Thankfully we were greeted by an angel of a ticket taker...so young and gorgeous, our spiteful tongues were tied and our anger was immediately quenched. Then, we went to the concession stand. I was due for a free drink. I handed my phone to the cashier with the QC reader ready and he effed it up and somehow exited the program to the log in page....I haven't had to log in to this app in almost a year. I have no idea WHAT my log in is. Being in a hurry for the movie, we just paid for the stuff like all the other suckers there, neither getting the free drink nor the points from the purchase. BFF said we needed to go visit the ticket taker again to keep from going postal. This is a clear reason why Open (or concealed) Carry is a horrible idea..... What is the point of a loyalty program that just pisses off your loyal customers? I don't know what we'll do on rainy days now....we can't quit Baby A's and Serafin, our favorite angelic bartender. I've been to regal on multiple occasions! This last time was the worst, the line for the snack line was ridiculous. The boy at the counter seem to not know anything about the reward system and didn't give the Tuesday discount. Everything was out from ice cream, to smoothie machine broken, to only one icee flavor available. People come to movies to enjoy their time and have some delicious snack options to go along with it. Guys... This theater charges $12.33 for an adult ticket.... Alamo Drafthouse charges like $11. Why would I pay more for a crappy seat and bad service? I came here to watch A Quiet Place with my mom. I regretted it immediately. As soon as we found a seat and sat down, I could barely see!! The seats have almost no elevation... it's ridiculous. I'm 5'3 and the fact that I had to sit up straight to see the full screen made me upset. I will never come back to this theater. The Gateway 16 is one of the few places in Austin that shows Digital 3D movies, and they know it by the prices they charge. Today, as luck would have it, we went to go see Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. I got this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when the ticket girl said, "I think we just sold out", then quickly followed by "No, I got you in". I was about to tell her forget it right there, because I knew the theater had to be packed, but we took a chance anyway because it was hot out and we'd already found the remote parking lot around the side of the theater. Sure enough, the theater was packed. Tons of screaming children, and no two seats together short of the whiplash seats down front. We both refused this unique opportunity to experience 3D. The manager very politely told us to go back to the ticket line and there would be no problem with the refund. To their credit, there was no problem, just a name,signature, and phone number. But, we lucked out after all. An hour later, we saw the same movie at the Galaxy Highland 10 for $1.25 less a ticket and in a mostly empty theater, with wider aisles and more comfortable seats and nearly no children. Regal Gateway is OK, I just wish we hadn't gone through the agony of buying tickets in a packed theater only to have to go back for a refund. But this was opening weekend, so that was to be expected. read more

I most recently went to see Fantastic Beasts 2 with some friends and this location is noticeably outdated. On opening weekend, though, there was still plenty of seating; seating is one thing I've never had an issue with here. Everything is clean(ish), for a theater, and prices are average. Ticket lines aren't long and usually move fairly quickly. I go here because showtimes are convenient, but it would not ever be my first pick. I'm not mad about my experiences but it was thoroughly underwhelming. The seats do not recline (in theatre 8, at least) and were stained and uncomfortable. The floors were quite noticeably tacky. There was a decent selection of snacks but the popcorn tasted like it really needed salt (there was no extra butter flavor either, or if there was it was not easy to find) and everytime I tried to take a sip the Icee just felt like it was made of air. It looked full, but something was very wrong with the consistency. Overall: If you just want to go to a place to watch a movie on the big screen this is a decent place to do it. The overall location and selection of showtimes are convenient. Worst theater I have ever been to. Don't waste your time coming here - seriously. The floors were disgusting!! We had to move around several times to find a place to sit that wasn't filthy. There were ants crawling up one of the chairs and the entire theater reeked of pickle juice. Really upset that I wasted my money.
