Kacie was the best! She guided my partner and I on backpacking pack fits and helped us decide on what pack to buy. Very nice and friendly, definitely felt like we were in good hands since she had a lot of great tips and knowledge to share. Thanks Kacie!

This is a great store for everything outdoors, hiking, walking, etc. In fact my foot doctor even recommended REI since I needed to buy a very specific shoe for a nerve issue. Robert was the head of the shoe department and we went when he was there. This store is located in the Tustin Market Place mall. Robert was really knowledgeable and knew shoes extremely well, even regarding the types for nerve problems. He must have brought out 7 different shoes including oofas...hoka...new balance etc..., and was super patient while I kept trying on pair after pair. I ended up buying the hoka brand, and then we discussed slippers as well. They didn't really have what I needed but he made some suggestions. Super nice and super knowledgeable customer support. I am happy with my Hoka shoes. REI is a great store! Thx for taking the time to help us.

+ Pleasant ambience for some outdoor gear shopping. + Nicely located in the beautiful shopping plaza Tustin Market Place. + Polite, helpful staff. - But unfortunately, the staff are not fully cognizant of their store's deals. See the attached photo mentioning 20% off for any REI Co-op brand item just for subscribing to texts. One associate thought it was for credit card sign-up, another thought it was only for 15% off. + Thankfully they were patient and open-minded to hear me out. - Almost everything here's exorbitant! . Even with all available discounts. + But I bought a really cool, thin, moisture-wicking, stretchy hoodie. Feels very comfortable. Must be good for jogging, hiking, and playing pickleball. So cool!

Gary in the shoe department is the goat. He made some fantastic recommendations and shared his wealth of knowledge on shoelace tying. Quality trail runners like Altra are expensive but worth it, as my last pair survived for 6 years! Will definitely make this my REI of choice.

This review is for Darren in the bicycle department! Actually, all the guys in the bicycle department were amazing and knowledgeable, but Darren was the lucky guy to help us pick out a bicycle. He was honest and open about the different types of bikes, effortlessly brought it down and helped us, and was informative about the perks and benefits. He is a great team player and we got a new bike! Yay!

Are backpacks rented out at this location?

They sure are! Call the store to get the latest update on inventory.

How big is Tustin REI store?

I regard it as a "big" store, but that is, of course, relative. It's about half to three quarters the size of a regular largish big city supermarket. I don't work there and don't know the exact square footage. If you compare it to other outdoor…

    Is this an outlet?

No, it is not. It is a regular REI store. Check REI.com for full details on services.

    Good selection of running shoes?

Yes, absolutely. And in general the people who work here with the shoes, really know their shoes. They'll be able to field a lot of different questions as they all use their own products.

Is the garage sale still happening at 8 a.m. today, 3/13/2020?

    No, it was canceled.

    Is there have Arctery?

Yes, they do have Arc'teryx products.

Whoever was working the guns with the dark hair and the trimmed dark beard working mainly the left side was a jerk. He didn't seem like he wanted to be there nor cared about anything. I asked him about the gen 5 glocks and he cut me off to say all glocks are illegal to sell in CA. Not what I was asking about and also false. I then was trying to inquire about a Ruger mark 4 and he was rude about how they have them but won't sell them but can order them. I still don't understand what he meant other than out of stock maybe? Anyway. Another customer came up behind me and asked this man a question and he scolded the customer and said he was with me, he was not and dragged me into it for some reason. He eventually got rid of the prospect and I proceeded to tell him I didn't want or need his help and to help the man he ignored. Instead he called up the next person in queue. Ironically enough, an employee was going off on a phone or radio about giving the best customer satisfaction possible lol. I almost said something to him but he was so hyped and happy, unlike mr grumps at the gun counter. Aside from that and what drove me away from purchasing a new firearm that day, the guys working Ammo and the fishing department were amazing. They really showed their knowledge and were a pleasure to work with. I will be back because of them, but maybe sticking to rifle supply for gun purchases.

They have multiple rows of snowboards to browse through, at least 5. Along with quite the selection of bindings and boots to choose from on their wall. Each sticker price is a package deal that includes boots and bindings. We chose a board that was $519. We opted to upgrade our gear, which they gave $120 credit towards boots and $100 towards bindings. They have enough variety to fit your budget that includes options from current and past season to choose from. Binding installation was also included in the package. Boots we chose were priced at $310 in store (online price $330) and bindings at $240 (online price $250). So we ended up paying $190 for the boots and $140 for the bindings. Our grand total came out to $928 with tax. Do the math and that comes out to a bang for your buck. We saved about $300 from the set we initially purchased at REI. Competitive prices and great customer service. I highly recommend stopping by :) pro tip: do some research on gear you are interested in before going, call in to check on brands and sizes you may be looking for, and try to come in on less busy hours like weekdays for the full experience.

McMullin Snowboard and Ski Co) is a cute small business ~ literally your one stop shop, specializing in all things ski & snowboard. It's located in Santa Ana in the deserted looking Edinger Business Park. They are definitely known for their discount prices on all winter/snow-related gear, outerwear, and accessories, as well as services like waxing, tuning, and rentals. When you walk in, the store is so neatly arranged and organized, it's super easy to find everything you are looking for. After coming here for so long, I legit just discovered that upstairs houses their "gently used" section, for those looking for an even more affordable option. The workers are super friendly, with a chill vibe. Everyone is knowledgeable & always willing you help you. My lil fam of 4 snowboards every year, so we have come here (year after year) to update our snow outfits, to googles, boots, snow socks, thermals, & beanies. You name it, they have it..AND we've bought it! Even when my kiddies wear younger..babies, we even got sledding/tubing gear here, so they could play in the snow. We really appreciate the affordable prices ~ ranging to discounted ones to more pricey name brands. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We were greeted multiple times stepping into the store and asked if we needed any help. We just came here for a snow jacket to prepare for real cold. The inside has cool decorations, snowboard brands etc kind of like a little wooden fort. Theres even a laddered second floor where they sell 2nd hand items. The store is divided into sections for board care/rentals, they have curtained fitting space and a toilet. They even have helmets and ski shoes. The prices here for snow jackets/gear (have pants too) are definitely cheaper than other name brand outdoor places and good quality (150-200), even cheaper than some outlets (but im not too well versed in brand comparisons so dont quote me if you are seasoned). I I think accessories might be cheaper at outlets?, but its more convenient to get everything in one place. They have toe warmers and google covers. They even have the board conditions for different mountains written on a white board as if you were up there in a resort. It would be great if they had a diagram for beginners of what clothing items/essentials to get including accessories and thermal layers as the store overall is very approachable to a southern californian newbie. The only thing is that it is a bit hole in the wall, parking is a bit confusing as you do look like you're pulling up to an inn. But there is a parking lot and we seemed okay parking there for our time here. Had a good time here, would recommend it to anyone looking to get into winter sports.

A Thank You to Trek Bike…read more I want to share how much I appreciate the care and integrity Trek bike has shown with my Parlee bike. From the moment I brought my bike in, it was clear these folks actually know what they're doing--and more importantly, they respect their customers enough to be straight with them. What stood out most is how transparent they were. No upsells, no unnecessary work pitched just to pad the bill. They took time to understand what my bike needed and gave me honest advice. That kind of straightforwardness is rare and it made a real difference in how much I trust them. But here's what really impressed me: they caught a factory recall on my Shimano crank power meter and offered to replace it without charging me a dime. Most shops would've either missed it or found a way to bill me for the service. Not Trek. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of, no cost to me. That's the kind of thing that tells you a lot about a business. Special thanks to Caleb--he was instrumental in taking care of my bike and making sure everything was handled right. Bryce was equally knowledgeable and friendly throughout the process too. The whole team is genuinely skilled and personable. It makes the whole experience easier--you're not second-guessing whether they understand what they're talking about. You just know they do. I'm grateful to have a shop I can trust with my bike, and people like Caleb and Bryce who actually care about doing the work right.
