I arrived around 6:30 pm and, even though Reichenbach Hall was buzzing, Sarita made sure I was never left waiting. She anticipated my needs and stayed ahead of me at every step -- I never had to flag anyone down. The bar offers excellent food (think hearty German fare) paired with a superb beer selection. The ambiance is lively and fun: communal tables, big screens showing all the major sports, and that energetic beer-hall spirit. My daughter loves soft pretzels so when we first arrived to NYC, we searched for an easy place that had them. Reichenbach Hall was just a short walk from our hotel so we thought we'd give it a try! Very accommodating bartender, Jack, and the decor is a perfect reflection of a welcoming German Biergarten with long wooden tables & benches, wooden high tops & stools and German beer murals & banners. Excellent German beer selections with ABVs on the menu & traditional wurst & pretzel offerings. I started with Spaten Munich lager, then Hacker Pschorr Munchner Dunkel Lager and (post supper) a kinda sweet Spaten Octoberfest. I went with the nuernburger platter with sauerkraut, German potato salad & red cabbage salad. The potatoes were boiled a bit unevenly before being cooled & dressed but tasted very nice. The rest of the plate arrived lukewarm (not hot as I'd prefer) but overall I'd recommend & return. As lovers of German food and German beers, we decided to have dinner here on an early Saturday evening. The place was bustling and we were seated at one of the beer hall tables. The decor was rustic, and we loved the steins and glasses displayed at the bar. For me, there were way too many huge t.v.'s throughout the dining area which really detracted from an authentic beer hall feel. Our waitress came over right away and took our drink orders. I was disappointed there was no Hofbrau, but we settled on Spaten and the Warstiener, both cold and fresh tasting. For food we ordered the Jager schnitzel, requesting spatztle in place of fries, the currywurst, and kaespatzle. Our food was brought out by someone other than our waitress, and the schnitzel dish was missing the Jager sauce and had fries-not the requested spatztle. We waited a few moments trying to find our waitress or another waitstaff, but no luck. So we had to go find someone to correct this order. A gentleman manager came to our table, apologized and corrected the order. As our waitress had not returned, he also got us 2 fresh beers to boot. Fantastic. The currywurst was a large portion, but did not look very appetizing. I am accustomed to having this made with bockwurst or knockwurst and I did not care for the consistency or texture of the bratwurst used in this dish. The actual menu did not specify bratwurst, but I later found online that is what is used. The kaespatzle was pretty good,with firm homemade spatztle, but I wish the cheese had a little more distinctive flavor. Crispy onions were served atop, instead of the traditional caramelized onions. The pork schnitzel cutlet was cooked well, but the seasoned and thicker breading was a different take from the traditional breading. The mushroom sauce did not taste homemade and seemed more of a meatloaf gravy than a hunter sauce. The cucumber salad was excellent. While the portions are generous, the prices are definitely on the high end and not sure the quality mirrors the high prices. Neither our waitress nor anyone else asked how our meal was and we had to flag her down to ask for take home boxes and the check. The place was loud. The bathrooms were relatively clean but out of soap and toilet paper. I might stop in again for a cold beer and some light fare, but would not come to eat a full meal here. read more

It's both annoying and slow. An impossible feat managed by simultaneously asking someone what they want to drink immediately as they sit down and you are handing them them an extensive menu, when they obviously came into this bar for a wide variety of German beers, not some pedestrian choice. Then, you ignore them for 10 minutes and go talk to your coworkers. There is something very fake about the decor. It looks like a Disney attempt at a German Beer Hall. My wife and I ate here back in May. The service was poor, waitress ignored our table. The food was absolutely disgusting, bland and flavorless. It was so overpriced And to top it all off they charge you for using a credit card. So when your bill comes they let you know about the fee. Not before you order, but after. Really cool beer hall with vegan options, not sure I need to say more. All the beers tasted like they came out of a freshly tapped keg and the vegan sausage and sauerkraut were awesome. Good experience at this German Beer Hall...great atmosphere to catch a game. The patrons were very hyped during the football (american soccer) game that was showing while we were there. Very loud. Lots of longer style tables, both lower and bar-stool leveled. Also some smaller round tables toward the front. There is also an outdoor seating (sidewalk) area currently. Beers (1/2 liter) are about $11-13. (Full liters are roughly twice the price). A bit pricey but not much more than other beer-serving places in Manhattan. Beer was a tad flat (2 out of the 3 we ordered). Didn't get any food, but lots of large pretzels going out. Must be a popular item. Sausages too! We saw a sign advising the beer garden on the street and decided to stop in for a beer. The interior was very much like a beer garden with some long benches for communal seating. A great place to spend an afternoon and pretend you're in the middle of Munich and not Manhattan. The location on 37th is spacious and outside dining offeres tables and picnic style seating like you would find in an authentic biergarten. The pretzel with cheese was awesome, and the chicken schnitzel lunch plate was delicious. My mom got the pork schnitzel and it was so dry she had a hard time cutting it, much less eating it. It is located right next door to the 3 Marriott hotels (Vacation Club, Springhill suites, Fairfield Inn) on 37th street in midtown Manhattan. It has a large selection of German beers and wasn't too crowded in the late afternoon on a Thursday.
