We visited Reichenbach Hall just to reminisce about our love of the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. It definitely has a different vibe and wasn't as much of a traditional German beer hall as I was hoping. It really is just more of a bar that serves German food and that's ok. The people who were there were definitely having fun and that's what matters. I had read a few reviews that said service was a little slow, but it was fairly good on the evening I visited. We initially had to wait a bit between receiving our menus and ordering, but after that everything went smoothly. We started out with a pretzel to share, the pretzel was about 10in wide, good enough for the four of us. We ordered a mixed bratwurst plate, two schnitzels, and a vegan wurst (made of soy). The beer is always good, choose what you like, I am a dunkel lover through and through, thanks to the original Hofbrauhaus. All of our entrees were good. The sauerkraut and potato salad were big hits too. I was genuinely surprised by the serving sizes we received, we all left with stomachs very full. (My only gripe was I felt the gravy for the schnitzel needed more salt.) Reichenbach appears to be a fun place to watch a game too, the vibe here is lively and loud - definitely deserves a visit if you love German food and beer. read more

The beer selection is strong and there big TVs to watch sports while you drink. The food is pretty good, I wouldn't say outstanding. My guest had the Kielbasa which was very good. I had the mixed sausage platter which was good but not amazing. I feel like it had only 3 types of sausages and not 4 as promised but perhaps I was unable to distinguish a few of them. The sauerkraut was good and the potato salad just OK. I really like good German food so I'm probably setting a high bar. Come here for a beer, and maybe eat. Get the kielbasa if you do. read more

The atmosphere is really Bavarian, waitresses are helpful. In fact more like a Deutch sports bar though the game played on TVs inside is american football and ice hockey. I regret to say I was disappointed by the food, especially the Goulash. Beef is obviously melted from frozen ones and eats like paper box. I don't know how signature pork shanks are but Goulash is definitely out of my recommendation. Currywurst tastes good, the flavor of ketchup with curry powder is nice, worth a try. read more

The place looks exactly like a good old fashioned beer hall. I've been here many times and have tried many liters of their beers. Never a miss. Finally decided to write a review after trying their food for the first time, which happens to be a alice of their Black Forest cake. It's a weird combo to do cake and beer but it works. Service can be a bit hit or miss. On some days they take your order quick and the beers come out fast but oddly I've been here on a slow Saturday afternoon and the service also seemed slow as well. Overall, this is a fun place to grab a couple of beers and catch a sports game on their multiple TVs. A good and varied selection of beers to cater for all tastes. From light radlers, through pilsner and ales to dark lagers and whit beers. Drinks come in 500ml "pint" glasses or you can order in a 1 litre stein. Service was very prompt and friendly, without being too intrusive. We didn't try the food, but from what we saw other people eating it all looked very good and traditional to what you would find in German beerhall. The one downside to this place was it was almost too painfully loud to stay. Whilst we were there the place was only around half full and even then it was hard to have a conversation with people at the same table. A few sound dampening tiles in the ceiling wouldn't go amiss. read more

Long overdue review of Reichenbach Hall. I wanted to host a birthday party for my boyfriend and was able to book two tables of 10 for the event. The venue was large, with lots of TVs for folks to watch whatever game was on. It was clean and not too loud by the time we arrived. From start to finish, even when it came down to planning, the venue was really accommodating. We initially got two long tables inside, but I asked them after arriving if we can be seated outside since it felt a little stuffy, and one of the employees, possibly a manager, got another worker and moved tables around outside so we'd be more comfortable and can get a section to ourselves. On top of that, the service during the duration of our stay was wonderful. I don't remember her name, but she was so attentive, and the other staff members cleared out our empty dishes quite often. The only thing I'm sad about is the fact that I didn't get to try any of the food! It looked so good, and I anticipate coming back here for group events in the future. read more

Great german food can be so hard to find. I was hopeful that in a city such as New York, where amazing food seems more effortless than other cities, I might be in for a pork schnitzel treat as I headed for a quick two block walk from the Hyatt Centric to give it a try while I was in town. It was late afternoon, and as I walked in, it was lazily quiet in the restaurant. One or two people at the bar and a few seated at tables but not much happening. Not sure if that's typical but it was only 5pm or so. I wanted to sit outside under their sidewalk tent with tables and was thus instructed to order at the bar, and they would bring the food out. The gent at the bar taking my order couldn't have been nicer and I placed my order for Pork Schnitzel, grabbed a beer and sat outside. Within a short time, a plate arrived with fries, german potato salad, and a generous portion of pork schnitzel. As you can see from my picture, it was satisfyingly large and definitely photogenic. However, I wish I could say it was as good as it looked. First off, it wasn't breaded in an authentic way (if that makes sense). Instead of a thin crispy breadcrumb coating, it was more like a slightly orange hued thick batter, like you might get on chicken fried steak. It still tasted fine but it did seem a little odd. Unfortunately though, the cardinal sin was that it was super dry. It's not that it was pounded too thin, it was a thicker pork schnitzel as those things go but clearly overcooked which is a shame as it looked like it would have been delicious otherwise. Nonetheless, certainly edible...it was "okay" but in an area like Midtown and for a visitor like myself, I felt like this meal was a wasted opportunity and I should have gone to a more iconic well reviewed place given my limited time in the city. Oh well, the service was still great and friendly and the food was certainly okay, but I was truly hoping for "wow" and was a bit disappointed. read more

She anticipated my needs and stayed ahead of me at every step -- I never had to flag anyone down. The bar offers excellent food (think hearty German fare) paired with a superb beer selection. The ambiance is lively and fun: communal tables, big screens showing all the major sports, and that energetic beer-hall spirit. As lovers of German food and German beers, we decided to have dinner here on an early Saturday evening. The place was bustling and we were seated at one of the beer hall tables. The decor was rustic, and we loved the steins and glasses displayed at the bar. For me, there were way too many huge t.v.'s throughout the dining area which really detracted from an authentic beer hall feel. Our waitress came over right away and took our drink orders. I was disappointed there was no Hofbrau, but we settled on Spaten and the Warstiener, both cold and fresh tasting. For food we ordered the Jager schnitzel, requesting spatztle in place of fries, the currywurst, and kaespatzle. Our food was brought out by someone other than our waitress, and the schnitzel dish was missing the Jager sauce and had fries-not the requested spatztle. We waited a few moments trying to find our waitress or another waitstaff, but no luck. So we had to go find someone to correct this order. A gentleman manager came to our table, apologized and corrected the order. As our waitress had not returned, he also got us 2 fresh beers to boot. Fantastic. The currywurst was a large portion, but did not look very appetizing. I am accustomed to having this made with bockwurst or knockwurst and I did not care for the consistency or texture of the bratwurst used in this dish. The actual menu did not specify bratwurst, but I later found online that is what is used. The kaespatzle was pretty good,with firm homemade spatztle, but I wish the cheese had a little more distinctive flavor. Crispy onions were served atop, instead of the traditional caramelized onions. The pork schnitzel cutlet was cooked well, but the seasoned and thicker breading was a different take from the traditional breading. The mushroom sauce did not taste homemade and seemed more of a meatloaf gravy than a hunter sauce. The cucumber salad was excellent. While the portions are generous, the prices are definitely on the high end and not sure the quality mirrors the high prices. Neither our waitress nor anyone else asked how our meal was and we had to flag her down to ask for take home boxes and the check. The place was loud. The bathrooms were relatively clean but out of soap and toilet paper. I might stop in again for a cold beer and some light fare, but would not come to eat a full meal here. read more

Excellent German beer selections with ABVs on the menu & traditional wurst & pretzel offerings. I started with Spaten Munich lager, then Hacker Pschorr Munchner Dunkel Lager and (post supper) a kinda sweet Spaten Octoberfest. I went with the nuernburger platter with sauerkraut, German potato salad & red cabbage salad. The potatoes were boiled a bit unevenly before being cooled & dressed but tasted very nice. The rest of the plate arrived lukewarm (not hot as I'd prefer) but overall I'd recommend & return. It's both annoying and slow.
