Amazingly, the place is only lightly occupied. Music so loud you actually can't even hear the staff when they talk to you. While the variety is ok, it is mind-numbingly loud. Our pretzel was over cooked. No spatzle is available and we're still waiting at an hour for food that hasn't even arrived. The food that arrived is wrong. We came here for drinks, and dinner, with friends and had a decent time. Decor: It's pretty standard for a bier hall - lots of long picnic-style wooden tables, a bar, high ceilings. There is plenty of room for any size group you might have. We got a table near the front door and, by the time we left, we were FROZEN. There cold rushes in so fast that anyone within a 20ft radius freezes. I really do not know how the hostess deals with that nightly! They have background music and were playing a '90's mix, which was very fun. Bathroom: It's smaller but gets the job done. Staff: Our waitress was fine. Nothing spectacular but nothing terrible - food and drinks delivered relatively quickly. Food/Drinks: For beer they have what every bier hall has (but they do have das boot size!) and they have some hard liquor as well (although I wouldn't call it "full" bar. The food was pretty standard too but nothing amazing. We had a couple plates of traditional wurst, a pretzel (which is HUGE) and the Kleinfranks (I know it says cocktail wieners but they were just basically microwaved...). First learned of this place at a Yelp event, and we became instant fans. The boy loves the lightness of the Maibock summer, while I cannot get enough of the Pure Cider which is like the lightest, sweetest cider that gets me sloshed after a bottle and a half. Cheap date! The pretzel here is amazing. Baked fresh to order, it arrives to the table piping hot, splendid in its coiled state, served with thick seedy mustard. Splurge a few dollars for a side of their "paprika sauce" which is a light cheesy sauce with peppers, onions and plain goodness. We prefer to dip fistfuls of the pretzel into that before stuffing them into our hungry mouths. Also tried a plate of their spatzle with sauerkraut and kielbasa, and it's the definition of comfort food. Little bits of tart sauerkraut to break up the richness of the spatzle, with the kielbasa to add a bit of smoke and savory. The kielbasa here is my favorite. Flavorful, juicy, amazing. This is (sadly) my go-to German restaurant in midtown. I always need my German fixing and sit-down service is OK, the food will do, but it's nothing amazing. Overpriced, but hey - it's midtown. They're listed on Postmates but they don't actually fulfill, so they'll just cancel after accepting and "preparing" the order (20 mins). Customer service is awful, twice now I've been put on hold for 5 minutes only to be hung up on. 2 stars only for convenience near my work, and average German food fixing. This place is okay. I feel like the platters are a bit overpriced. They have the same regular run of the mill beer hall food, nothing special so the food was just ok. The beer list wasn't as extensive as you would expect at a beer hall. The girls dressed like beer maids, can be nice to ogle at. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, our drinks were never empty nor did I have to ask for anything. She was on top of it. But the busser in attempts to be super busser guy took my napkins every time I placed it down and try to take my beer before I was done. Thus I started guarding my glass and plate so I could keep my leftovers. The place is nice on the inside, I'm thinking new so let's see how far does the newest last. Weinerschnitzel was good but quite overpriced. Beer selection was limited - maybe 12 beers? For a beer hall, that's pretty small. All in all, we got an appetizer pretzel, two entrees, and two small size beers and the total (once you added tax and tip) was over $80. That's pretty steep for what we got. Cool spot in Midtown! It has the vibe and feel of an actual German beer hall. We went late night, and there were still plenty of patrons. We loved the beer choices on the menu, and that the beers were actually described in good detail, so we knew exactly what we were ordering. The food was good! I love the atmosphere in the sense that it's very unique. All the waiters and waitresses are dressed in traditional German outfits. This was right by my old job so I was able to come by a few times with co-workers. Definitely order the giant pretzel. The cheese that came with it was more of a hard cheese spread than what you would normally imagine a giant pretzel like that would come with. I wouldn't recommend the cheese. Kinda wish they had the normal gooey cheese. That would have been great. Other than that, I had the sausages a few times. Try their platter that comes with beets and radish. It was pretty good. I had my birthday party here in May of 2022 and I cannot say enough good things about how it went. The process of making a reservation was streamlined and they answered all my questions in a timely manner. We had our own area at the back of the restaurant. The food and drinks were great, (especially the beer and German sausages!) and they personalized the cake for me. It was very clear the staff were going out of their way to make it a special and fun environment for my friends and I, and for days afterwards guests were telling me how much fun they had. Very Fun Atmosphere. Very loud with a lot going on. We came here for dinner and drinks after work one evening. We didn't have reservations but we were lucky to find a spot for two. This would be a very fun place to come if you were with a big group of people. Our waitress was very nice. She answered all the questions we had about the different types of biers and all the food. I had the Chicken Schnitzel which was delicious and very fulfilling. Your portions were very large and the prices were not bad at all. The biers come in 1/2 liter, full liter, and two liter boots. There are many choices to choose from but we were both very satisfied with our choices. I do not like dark or heavier biers but the waitress was able to help me find a lighter one that I enjoyed very much. The only thing I didn't like was that a lot of the seating was benches so there was no support on your back. I understand this is typical of German Hall's like this. I am so disappointed!!! There is no German food here! !! The reviews looked ok. So I thought perhaps it might be good. I ordered a Schweinhaxe, hoping for something good. This is the worst I have ever had. A total lie. They cut two pieces of port cutlet and put a piece of in-eatable bone on top and call it a Schweinehaxe. My children had the schnitzel and couldn't eat it. Not even a imitation. This place rods the trappings of German culture and tries to se it. The only thing it has is beer. I have just only 1 issue with this bar. I'll start with the positives: I like how good this bar is for large groups. It has a good variety of beer (naturally, it is a German Beer Hall) and the food isn't too bad. The giant pretzel is a great choice for big groups. Everyone just dipping and diving in the various sauces. It's a fun time. What I did not like is the service. Some of the girls are rude, and rudeness is not a fun time. I was joining a group of 24 people and when I arrived, I went to the bar to buy a beer and joined my group. I was the TOLD (not asked), very rudely to go and close out my tab. Why? I don't know, I was never given a reason. If I don't want to be a part of a 24-person tab, I won't be. It's a rowdy place equally comfortable with blasting polka and European techno. Prices are reasonable and the service is solid. When I learned that Reichenbach Hall was the largest beer hall in NYC, I decided to make a trek, on St Patrick's Day no less, for a stein. I've been to beer halls from Munich to Milwaukee and wanted to see how a Reichenbach compares. The place has all of the elements you expect is a good hall: large liter steins, friendly servers, and great German beers. You can also order a round of shots by the 'ski' where you get 4 shots to share for a little over $10. My only disappointment was the food -- particularly the large German pretzel that EVERY German beer hall needs to take pride in. The pretzels here were huge, but hugely bland. They weren't soft. They weren't warm. They weren't chewy. They were served with a cheese spread, smothered in onions, that didn't satisfy. The price of a pretzel is also more than $10. They cost more than a half-liter of beer. I'll come back to Reichenbach Hall for the atmosphere and the beer -- but I'll find for other places to eat. The hall is a short walk to the Empire State Building where you can find Papaya Dog... a great post beer hall, culinary adventure. Prost! read more

I came here for the first time after work on a Thursday, around 5:15pm. I managed to find a seat at the already crowded bar, that got even more crowded about an hour later when I left. Suits everywhere. I heard the bartender say the shift was slower than usual, but I guess that's midtown happy hour for you. The space is unexpectedly massive- the outside looks like a normal bar. But once you come in there are high ceilings and tons of picnic tables. Music was typical, they played sports on the TV. All the beers are served in giant glasses which is fun. Fries are solid, though the portion is small. The beers are delicious. I loved the bartenders recommendation, the Benediktiner Weissbier. I followed it up with the Schofferhofer Grapefruit. It's got a VERY low ABV, but it's so nicely done it's hard to get mad about it. It's a nice first beer for summer day drinking. The bartenders and waitstaff were all extremely nice, and still managed to give lots of personal attention to everyone and make small talk, despite how busy it was. I like that. If I find myself in midtown again (don't judge, things happen) I know I have a solid place of refuge. read more

This might be the only place left in NYC where you can get currywurst. We were struck but a sudden currywurst craving, and two favorite currywurst vendors appear to have closed their doors! Enter Reichenbach Hall. Sure it's in a weird, officey corner of the city. The lighting is dim, and the tables have long benches that tremble whenever someone gets up or down. But the currywurst did not disappoint! It was just spicy enough, with a mountain of perfectly crispy fries. The Kasewurst (bratwurst with cheese) was delicious, although the rosemary bun it came on was a bit stale. Paired with a very large Schofferhofer (grapefruit beer - I couldn't believe it was their smallest size), our wurst dreams came true. Heh. The Nürnberger were not Nürnberger (too long, too pink -- clearly not from Schaller & Weber) and had no flavor (they are supposed to be grilled) and the potato salad was too acid. Käsespätzle were presented as "Mac and Cheese" by the server (which perhaps they in fact were) and were ok, but bland. A schnitzel was without much flavor. We did not finish any of these dishes.
