We have 6 cars (family and business) we take to Reliable Automotive. Brad, Shane and the Gang always take good care of us. Our most recent issue was my son's car had a sensor that kept coming on. Turns out the electronics system was shorting out the censor. The car was still under warranty, but had could only be serviced by the Dealer. We were dealing with a death in the family so Shane, made sure our car was taken to the Dealer and handled everything. They provide you with comprehensive information so that you can be well informed and make your decision accordingly on what to repair in line with your priority and safety. They will inform you of the things that should be done versus the maintenance that can be done and then help with getting the job done. Their prices are reasonable and you will know for the most part up front what you'll pay. We love reliable automotive! We have an Xterra that needed a mountain of work done but had a third party warranty giving us the run around. Brian and his team worked with the warranty company and pushed things up the chain to get the repairs done. Their customer service is off the charts, and while sitting in the lobby I've heard some really rude customers talk to them in person and on the phone, and they handle it calmly and professionally. I really feel like they're being honest about what's going on and they make every effort to make sure I understand what they're doing. Car stuff is WAY over my head but they break it down so I can understand it. This is a locally owned business who really cares about their clients and wants to do things right. Car mechanics can be hard to trust but not these guys. I won't go anywhere else and their prices are 1/2 what you'd find in Austin- very fair. Highly recommend!!! read more

Check engine light came on and when I called to see if they could run a quick diagnostic, the gentleman on the line said that it would be over $80 just to run the diagnostic. Long story short I went to Autozone down the road and they ran the diagnostic for free (which took less than five minutes) and all I needed to do was make sure I tightened the gas cap tighter. Brad, the owner, was working the register when I came in, and he seems like just another employee, all of whom seem happy to help. What a gem for Buda! I needed to get my annual inspection done and thought I'd give Reliable Automotive a try. I was greeted promptly and courteously as I walked in. The waiting room was spotless with comfortable chairs and coffee available. I was told the inspection would be less than 30 minutes, but it actually took about 10 minutes. I'm overwhelmingly displeased with the service I received here today. I came by the day before to schedule an appointment and let them know I was going to get my oil changed in the morning. I arrived 3 minutes after they opened at 7:30 AM and didn't leave until 10:05 AM. They didn't even start on my car until 1 1/2 hours after I arrived. I was one of the first people there and the last to leave, and multiple customers were serviced before me. One of the mechanics talked to me one (1) time to let me know my car was almost done and give a reason (which he should have been prepared for since I came in the day before requesting an oil change first thing in the morning) on why it took so long, but it took another 30 minutes until I could leave. I received no discount for my wait although I had been waiting quietly for the last 2.5 hours JUST TO CHANGE MY OIL. I've changed my oil myself many times before and it has never taken me over half an hour to get the whole thing done. I'm extremely livid and will be calling to speak to the manager (which I have never done in ANY situation before) to voice my complaints after I have time to cool down and am able to speak with a more neutral viewpoint. It hurts me to write this review because I do not usually take things like this seriously, but this morning was absolutely ridiculous. Will not be returning. Should have listened to my friend who was also treated very poorly by these guys, but decided to give the close-to-home place a chance. So, to conclude, these guys need to manage their time differently at work instead of treating customers like the back burner of the stove. Also, customer service sucked. I do not respect guilt trips with watered down coffee and apologetic eyes. I respect good customer service and honesty. Do not go here if you want to see daylight by the time you get out. read more

Stand up guys just make sure you work with the same guy or you will see surprise added costs. First I was told if spark plug wires didn't pass test they would change wires, included in cost, by Mark. Then I was told by Brian that these things kicked up price by $80+. Next Mark quoted me differential fluid flush at $89+/- next thing I know there was another $70+ charge. I showed up with no brake noise and was told back brakes need to be changed. I passed but when I drove off and used brakes there was a really bad grinding noise. I had only had these rear brakes shoes a year. So bottom line I showed up intending to pay $500+/- and left paying close to $700 and need to have my rear brakes done now. My advice is to not have them touch anything you don't want to service. read more

Just picked up my Ford Explorer. Charles helped me, and he was great. He quoted me a price for my repairs and it ended up costing less! Also they saved me a lot of money by referring me to another place, where I can have my muffler soldered, rather than replacing the whole thing. Talk about honest! I was a customer also at their San Marcos location, happy they opened up a location in Buda, closer to me. These guys are honest, and prices are reasonable, no price gouging here.
