Dropped off our 2015 Fusion to have the shifter cable bushing replaced and Reliable called to let us know that part was under recall from Ford and to take it there for a free repair. Reliable could have very easily done the repair without telling me about the recall but they value their customers and we were able to get the Fusion fixed at no cost. First time coming here. I called ahead and talked to a very helpful polite man, my 2000 Jeep Wrangler needed to have an O2 sensor replaced. He quoted me a great deal (other repair shops quoted me ridiculously over priced) and said it would take about 2 hours. When I got there, they got my car in ASAP. When I returned for my car, it was less than the quoted price (which was amazing). The entire staff was very helpful. My family has take several cars there for work, but this last time I took it for a check up, since it was "new to me" car and I wanted to find out what the noises were. Shane did a complete check on it and found out the car dealership sold me a very unsafe car. He handled it from start to finish (the tow truck coming from Covert to pick it up). Reliable automotive is only fair and reasonable for oil changes. I took my 2015 Honda Civic in for a rear brake job and was quoted a price $50 more than the dealer. After pointing this out to them they agreed to price match the dealer. My wife took in a Chevy truck for them to fix the latch on the tailgate and was charged $450 for a job the dealer quoted at "$202 or less". When given the quote from the dealer they agreed to lower the price by a little more than $100 by waiving the "diagnostic fee" and a discretionary discount. Still cost about $130 MORE THAN THE DEALER! They can change my oil, but I will not take my vehicles here for anything else. read more

Also, since I live in Travis County I was unable to get my Jeep inspected at this place due to the need for an emissions test so they recommended that I go elsewhere and explained why. I was told at AutoZone that I needed a new alternator and that mine had "failed". 279.00 later, I went to Reliable Automotive to have it installed for a little over 500.00. The guys checked the alternator again and told me it was fine and that I didn't need a new one installed. They basically worked themselves out of 500.00 worth of work. They also said the owner's manual called for a brake fluid and transmission flush, but both "looked good and clean", so I didn't need those services either. That was another 400.00+ worth of unnecessary work they saved me. In short, these guys are ethical and won't rip you off. They have won me over as a lifetime customer... read more

I saw an ad for Reliable Automotive in Buda for $24.95 for an oil change with free tire rotation. Since my car takes full synthetic oil, I was expecting to pay an up charge for the oil. When they told me it would cost $76.00 I was shocked. I was told that the difference in the cost of the oil was the reason, but I researched the cost difference and found the the synthetic costs between(retail) $17.00-$25.00 for a 5 qt jug, vs around $12.00-$15.00 for regular oil. By my calculations there should have only been a $10-$20 up charge. Needless to say this left a bad taste. I left and won't be using them for anything else. read more

This service station is clean and has a nice bright waiting area. Their prices are very reasonable and they fixed my car the day I brought it in, with no appointment. They offered me a financing program that offers no interest for 6 months, which helped me keep my car safe on the road. I really appreciate them taking care of me when I had an unexpected repair need. It is always scary when a car problem crops up, especially when your car is essential for your work. This rating is long overdue; a few weeks ago my AC went out on South Congress. The shop I usually go to was packed I just recently moved to Buda so I figured what the heck I'll take it to a place over there surely they can't be busy. So found these guys and dropped my car off at 2: 30 and they had it fixed that day around 6 the time they closed and waited for me to pick it up after. Excellent Experience! From the initial phone call, Bryan and the team at Reliable we're prompt and professional with the repair process I needed to get my truck back on the road. I've delt with other mechanic shops around this area over the past 10 years, but won't go back to anyone but these guys. A while back I took my truck due to a cranshaft vibration. They diagnosed a bad carrier bearing and changed it for close to $300 Right away I knew something was wrong because there was a bad vibration. I had to take it to a specialist in suspensions who told me that me automotive had installed it backwards. Me automotive said that I did not have an original shaft and that was the reason it was not working properly. They wrre not able to fix it because they are incompetent. However, the other shop was able to install it perfectly fine, but charged me over $200 to fix it. The owner of Me automotive refused to return my money claiming that I should had taken it back to them again. I lost $500. Stay away from this shop. They are not honest. read more

These guys at Reliable were our trip heroes this Christmas. We traveled from Colorado to visit family, and our transmission went out a few days ago. We called a lot of other shops and they all said they could look at our van, but it could not be worked on until after Christmas. We had to leave to head back to Colorado on the 26th and were worried about being stuck and no able to go home when we needed to. Reliable auto heard our story, and after checking if they could get the parts, Shane let us know that they could prioritize and fix our transmission in time for Christmas. Reliable followed through and our van was ready on time. This shop could't have been nicer. In addition, on one visit I saw them building a new bicycle for a kid. When I asked if they were also a bike shop, Shane responded that they were doing Christmas Miracles of all types even for kids who needs a bike for Christmas. Previous mechanic at another location (Dave's Automotive) indicated that my skid plate was damaged and that my vehicle was leaking oil from an unknown source (without full diagnostic) which they said needed to be repaired. Reliable Automotive assessed my vehicle and determined that my skid plate was still in workable condition, the "oil leak" was simply residual oil, few bolts needed to be tightened, and skid plate zip tied. They provided this service at no cost to me. Their staff were incredibly kind people and extremely friendly and personable. Would highly recommend their services. Finding a good mechanic is like going on a lot of really expensive blind dates... I'm so glad to have found Reliable and end my search for my local mechanic! From oil changes to major repairs, I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of here. They do great work for reasonable prices and their service is top-notch. Bryan at the front desk is always friendly and thorough in explaining the work needed on my car, and he maintains communication on their progress while my car is at the shop. I have used their after-hours key drop box a couple times, which is convenient for fitting car repairs into my busy schedule. The desk and waiting area is spacious and clean with a kids table and a generous selection of toys to play with while you wait for an oil change - a HUGE plus because a bored toddler is trouble for everyone! They are only open until noon on Saturdays to give their team time with their families. This is a testament to what a good company they are, as I am sure Saturdays are the busiest day for auto repair shops, yet they value their team members and family above all. read more

RUN, don't walk, from these people! Took my truck in with what appeared to be a engine issue, and was told my engine would need to be replaced. As this work was being done the shop called repeatedly about other issues needing work, each adding to what was already a hefty bill, to say the least. Ultimately decided to stop the bleeding and take the truck as is, but still needed to take it to another repair shop just to clear the engine codes. Was told at this shop the original issue did NOT require an engine replacement and that the necessary repairs could have been done at a fraction of the cost I had incurred at Reliable Automotive. Replaced engine still needs work. Hard lesson for me... hope it helps others by passing it on to anyone who checks these posts. Also, after voicing my frustration and displeasure about this experience with the folks running this shop, I was assured I would get a call from the regional /area manager. Never happened. read more

I took my Honda here for an oil change because of all the 5 star reviews and also because it's convenient to my job. When my car was ready, they called and told me I needed about $600 bucks worth of other things done. One of them was flushing my brake fluid. Well, I had that done less than a year ago. Another thing was changing my air filter. I also had that done about a year ago. I don't think I've ever taken my car to an auto repair shop and not been told this very same thing. Filters and flushing must be real money makers! My car has been to the dealership twice in 6 months and they of all people didn't even tell me I needed all these things done and if anyone is going to rip you off, it's the dealership. Next time I need an oil change, I will take it to an oil change only joint, no more auto repair shops for me. read more

I have never been treated with such respect and kindness in such a stressful time in my life. Brad squeezed me into the schedule, and understood I had to leave by a certain time to get my child from school. He looked at my car for well over an hour but couldn't find a problem and sent me on my way. As I was leaving the business my car acted up again and I immediately called them to let then know it happened again. Brad and his coworker ran out to push my car back to the shop and found the problem right away. After being quoted by 2 other mechanics for a $300 part, Brad confidently told me it was a simple $30 main relay that went bad, had it swapped out in 10 minutes and saved me and my kids from being stranded on the side of the road again. They are now the only place I will take my vehicle, and future vehicles. read more

I was here from South Carolina visiting my sister. After the drive here I was pretty sure I needed a new battery. Asked around with the locals and was told Reliable was honest and trustworthy so I went to the Buda location. I definitely needed a new battery and also got an oil change and tire rotation since I was here. They found 2 other things that needed to be repaired. I did not take the recommended service at the time. But I did research and found that they were right, without repair it could have been a rough 19 hour drive home. I ended up dropping my car off later at night with my key in the overnight box. Without an appointment they got me in without question and repaired both before close. Everyone was great but I dealt with Kevin the most. He went way out of his way, even driving to get a part himself to be sure I could leave on time, since the wrong part showed up originally. I may be from waaay out of town but they definitely made my sister into a repeat customer. Thank you to everyone from Kevin to whoever put in the work to get it done for me.
