Typically when you sit down at the yard house bar, the bartenders usually clean off the bar with a wet towel and remove the sticky beer/food from the previous patrons and then put down the place settings and black napkin settings. None of that happened. They also always card everyone in the party, I didn't see them card anyone in the bar this night. While there were plenty of staff (in different color shirts - white, black and grey) behind the bar not one person said hello, welcomed anyone on our side of the bar or made eye contact. They were more focused on cleaning the glasses than taking our order. It was just odd. Getting past that, I enjoyed the local cider selection (kiwi strawberry) and my husband enjoyed the Belgium golden ale house beer). Food was great as well we enjoyed the boneless wings Korean style, Miguel's queso and ahi sashimi. Delicious. I also enjoyed the music videos playing on one of the tvs that was so fun. Bathrooms were clean but both needed work. In the women's, I noticed the vacant/occupied switches were not in working order as some of the signs said occupied but they were not; and the ones that said vacant were occupied. My husband noticed that there was no soap or towels in the men's bathroom. It's the little things. Even if you are crowded you should be staffed well enough to take care of these things.

The 1800s Western decor creates a fun atmosphere both outside and inside. I came solo at lunchtime on a weekday and was immediately seated at a wooden high-top table near the bar. The friendly woman who was bartending took care of me during my meal, providing excellent service...and extra napkins, which I defintely would need. I ordered the Bonham Brisket Grilled Cheese, a sandwich consisting of slow-cooked brisket and mutiple slices of melted cheese between locally made sourdough bread. (side note: Bonham refers to James Butler Bonham, a brave officer and courier who gave his life at the battle of the Alamo) The sandwich was stuffed with super-tender brisket. The brisket wasn't smoked and had mild flavor, overpowered by the cheese. I used a provided side of fantastic barbecue sauce to kick it up (and also to dip my fries in). The bread of the sandwich was nicely grilled and delicious, definitely greasy (as expected!). I enjoyed it and it filled me up. It's a great place to get some food, especially when visiting the Alamo.

THE BEST DAMN COLD COFFEE I'VE EVER HAD…read more Let me set the scene... I was staying at the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio for the Keller Williams Mega Agent Camp convention, and I quickly discovered something VERY important: Alamo Biscuit Company was the only place anywhere nearby willing to DoorDash coffee at 5:00 AM. So, naturally, I DoorDashed their coffee every single morning. Because real estate education starts early... but so does the need for caffeine. And let me tell you--the coffee was AMAZING. But one morning, I overslept. Not 15 minutes. Not 30 minutes. A WHOLE HOUR. ‍ My Alamo Biscuit Company coffee had been sitting downstairs waiting for me for an entire hour. It was supposed to be HOT. It was now COLD. And somehow... THAT WAS THE BEST DAMN COLD COFFEE I EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF DRINKING. How in the world can coffee that was intended to be hot, sit downstairs for an hour, turn completely cold--and STILL taste THAT fabulous?! It was smooth. Mild. Flavorful. Not bitter. Not harsh. Just genuinely GOOD coffee. Exactly the way a great cup of coffee should be. So, Alamo Biscuit Company, you've officially earned my five stars--not just because you delivered coffee to a half-asleep convention-goer at 5 AM, but because even an accidental hour-old cold cup was THAT good. If you can make me love your coffee hot AND cold, you've got a customer for life. 10/10. Would oversleep again.
