I was referred to this place by a friend and I will absolutely be making a routined visit. Upon arrival, I was greeted immediately by a friendly staff member. I checked in for my 6:30 appointment, and was asked my preference of male or female masseuse (to which I had no preference). At 6:30 exactly, I was led by Peter to a small room in the back. I ordered a 45 minute massage for $40 (WHAT A STEAL!) and he provided one of the best full body massages I've ever had, and I'm a regular at a few local spots. We started with the foot rub and then 30 min later went to a separate room for the full body. Wife commented the masseuse was a bit inconsistent (as others commented), where she told him he could go harder...did so for a little while and then went back to a lighter touch than desired. Whereas my foot rub was ok, the body seemed better since my guy put much of his weight on my back -- which I liked. So next time, I'll be checking out a full hour of body massage instead. I can only assume these 5 star reviews are fake. I got the 90 minute full body massage and feel like there was no way my masseuse was licensed. She used the her knuckles to repeatedly grind directly on my spine for 5 minutes, the back of my pelvis is bruised because she seemed to be trying to work out a knot that was actually my bone. I asked 3 times for her to go gentler and was laughed at. I was clearly pulling away and she used her elbow and leverage to dig in deeper. She pulled down my underwear without consent even though i had purposely left them on. She stuck her fingers in my ears seemingly to plunge the wax out? I woke up multiple times in the night because my body was in so much pain, it hurts to sit up or lay down. The workers here are very hardworking and I'm not sure if it's the manager or the owner (both male) have always treated me and my partner really well. My partner was polite and didn't feed into her extreme rudeness. I was appalled by how she spoke to him and I couldn't leave without saying something. So after he agreed to leave I walked over to her and I said "do you have 2 massages available one male and one female"? At this point i'm not being picky about who's rubbing my feet. I just want to see if she can help us even if that means I have to let a man massage my feet ( no biggie) She replied to me in the same EXACT tone " we donot have anything available we're booked!!! After this I said oh ok I just wanted to tell you a word of advice, when you speak you should watch how you talk to people because you sound really rude and maybe you should work on that !! Had a great 1-hour foot reflexology session here this afternoon. I called at 11:15 and was able to be seen right at 11:30. When I arrived I was the only client there, which was nice! The place is relatively small but has a calm atmosphere with relaxing with spa music playing. It's definitely no frills, but every other reflexology place I've been to is similar. I was seated right away and given a fantastic full hour massage by a wonderful man (whose name I unfortunately didn't get) who was very thorough, massaging my feet, calves and shins. The pressure was strong but left me feeling refreshed. The total came to $29 (if you pay in cash) and I left an $11 tip, so $40 total. Not bad at all! I saw other reviews say there was an issue with noise here so I brought my headphones and put them in for the duration of my massage, which prevented the problem. The place is small so you'll definitely hear the staff talking to each other and moving around which might not be the most relaxing if you're hoping for silence. So I pull out a $5 and the manager, very rudely says "... uh, it's a $45 bill and you need to leave 20%. Have you never been to a massage before?" Then I thought about it, and 20% of $45 is $9 ...which means for $4 he was rude and lost a customer that would have returned. He could have just thanked me and said next time it would be appreciated if the masseuse was given 20% and that they look forward to seeing me again. (Or something like that, that wouldn't have ruined a relationship with a customer.) The lady who did the massage was fantastic and I hope she gets the $10 tip. I rarely give reviews, but the experience today was really bad. The pressure was simply unbearable despite the fact that I asked multiple times to reduce it, but the therapist did not speak any English. I feel that he might have gotten what I was trying to say at some point, but after a minute or two he would go back to the old pressure and it was really uncomfortable. Then I would ask again to reduce the pressure, and then the same story over and over again. During the feet massage, I even moved my legs when it hurt too much but he would just continue pressing. I do massages quite often, and the technique was simply a new experience for me. A lot of strong pressure focusing on one point, and not even following my body reactions which were there since it really hurt! I am aware that this is one of affordable massage places in the city, but today's experience was such that I am not sure that the therapist knew what he was doing. I have been a regular client for the past 9 years, and it saddens me to have to write this review today. I tried to see if there was an email to voice my concerns but there was none in the website. I please ask the management to verify that your massage therapists are properly draping your clients. The actions of the therapist may have been unintentional, but coming from a therapist position myself, the situation would have made many women extremely uncomfortable. I had 2 hours today, 1 hour foot and 1 hour full body massage. The foot massage went great, however when I got to the full body, I had a very small towel to drape myself, no sheet. I was very fortunate to be wearing underwear, or I would have been completely exposed at certain moments. At one point my therapist completely removed the towel (during transition from upper to lower body), re-draping me, then tucked the small towel under my underwear from below which exposed my crotch, and spread my legs apart to start lower body work. Had I been nude, this action would have had me completely exposed. I considered that my therapist knew I had undergarments, however, regardless of how the client chooses to dress, they should never be exposed on this manner. The massage itself was quite rough, and very fast paced, not allowing my muscles to adjust to the deep work (which I generally love). At one point he did directly hit my privates, I hope accidently, but had I not worn any protection he would have made direct contact. There were other times during the massage I felt very uncomfortable (which is never the case for me), which included the massage techniques themselves, along with other events not mentioned in this review. Even if all these actions were unintentional, I please ask to verify your therapists practice proper draping protocols. It is never appropriate to expose your clients. Thank you read more

There are some negative reviews from folks who aren't familiar with traditional reflexology. I stopped in for a one-hour massage for my birthday today. A male massage therapist (I didn't get his name) gave me an absolutely fabulous massage. Renew offers massages that are deep-tissue and therapeutic, rather than necessarily feeling pleasant and relaxing in the moment but I always leave feeling like a new person. Today's was particularly exceptional. For the last few years, I have had a knot on the left side of my lower back that is big enough that I can physically palpate it through the skin. Doctors have told me I have a pinched nerve or slipped disk causing it, and a course of physical therapy failed to help. In just an hour at Renew, it's totally gone--I'm sure it will come back, but even temporary relief from that chronic aching pain is amazing. The prices are beyond reasonable. the environment may not be spa-like, but I've never had a problem with noise (on this weekday afternoon there was no sound pollution at all), and if I'm choosing between an upscale, spa-style massage that leaves me with deep knots still in my back and costs hundreds, or a less fancy venue and a massage that really relieves my pain, I'd pick Renew every time. read more

Thought it was weird as people walking back and forward who can see me getting rubbed down. Initially asked if I wanted a chair or table for the body portion, but still got a chair in a hallway. He has incredibly strong hands and he only had time to do a 30 minute session split between foot and chair massage but holy moly both were mind blowing. The actual chair for the chair massage was wierd for me - there is a bar that my face kept mushing into. Was glad I was wearing a mask. I think the seat should be raised for shorter guests. However, 3 stars because the last few months it's not as peaceful and tranquil as it used to be. There was a guy who running the place & scheduling and he ran a tight and QUIET ship.
