This place is amazing if you're in need of a relaxing foot massage! After running around all day in heels, I was relieved to be heading back to my hotel to shower and relax. But then it dawned on me that I remembered seeing a foot massage spot just a few doors down and decided that might be the perfect way to end my day! I walked in around 8pm without and appointment and luckily they were able to take me immediately. The seating for a foot massage is in an open area with soft, plush leather seats that are so easy to sink into. Once seated, they'll wash your feet and then begin the massage. I booked a foot reflexology massage for 60 mins. It was $45 and was absolutely amazing! Considering how expensive things are these days, I thought that was overall a great deal! Immediately 2 staffs welcomed me very warmly, great sign of natural accommodation. I felt very comfortable right away. I have been to uncountable massage parlors for over the 30 years but this was the most homey trust feeling I got. They are very down to the Earth, helped me for charging 2 phones before the massage. They sent me Mia. Actually we never spoke any words. Her hands and elbows goes straight to the acupressure points, literally head to toes with exact right amount of pressure. She is very hard working. I didn't have to request anything. I realized her way is real treatment. It's my favorite style, next day I had slight soreness in the morning and later on the day I felt amazing whole body. She gave me most effective techniques and got rid of all of my problems. Unbelievable talent. After massage, staffs told me there is grand master teacher taught all workers in their all (4?) branches. I am always a bit cautious about going to these kind of massage parlors because you never know the quality of what you're going to get. Our masseuses were Kevin and Peter and they did a wonderful job. They're very thorough and attentive and you can let them know how much pressure you like. Updated review: I've been coming here pretty regularly over the last year and have for the most part had good massages, but it really does depend on the masseuse you get. A recent experience with Anna was sloppy (I still have oil on my body) and I also left feeling like my privacy was violated. I noticed the curtain to my room was not drawn completely closed and the idea that complete strangers walking by could see my naked body left me feeling extremely unsafe. I once visited Chinese massage parlor for similar price, and the masseuse asked how she's supposed to feed a family if I don't tip her $20 Hmmmmm 50% tip? Don't think so. Anyway, renewing spa accepts appointments and walk ins. There is a friendly receptionist in the front who manages the walk-ins. People tend to call in and ask about the line and she does a great job facilitating. I waited roughly half an hour which was fine since my appointment was a walk in. I would hear her call customers back-and-forth explaining that she would hate to have them wait here for an hour when they could be touring the city and to stop by at a later and she will hold their spot in line. She's also sensitive to gender preferences, assuring that a same gender masseuse will be assigned it to you upon request. Unfortunately your private section is covered by a thick curtain, meaning you'll hear conversations from the front. I really enjoyed the service as it felt like the masseuse was working through the knots rather than simply rubbing oil all over me. Awesome service for $40 an hour. All my knots in the shoulder and neck were loosened and I had the best night I have had in over a year. I only wish I lived closer (I'm on the west coast) so a bit too far to go regularly but next time I am in NYC this will be one of my regular spots. It's no frills in terms of spa feeling but I'd rather have a great massage. My eyes are closed the whole time so ambiance can suck it. I was looking forward to this experience and though it didn't disappoint I am not rushing back. Everyone was pleasant and warm but very robotic deft movements. No straying from the routine. My body work lady was very good the first 20 minutes when they cover you with towel and apply deep pressure. Then she applied oil and I lost her for about 10 minutes when she drifted off to sleep. I think her hands were moving but she had to have been asleep because it felt like a toddler was playing on my back or she was resting after all it was after 8p. The hour-long massage I had today with Tom was one of the best I've ever experienced (my first at this spa, which is in my neighborhood). I like an intense approach and this was INTENSE (naturally you have to communicate your level of comfort). I was surprised that it even included hot stones, which I wasn't expecting. I would not recommend renewing spa. the hygiene is questionable and it is very noisy. Tables are separated by curtains, so you can hear the doorbell, the phone ring, and other conversations. The experience is not relaxing unless you bring earplugs. The massage itself was not good, requested more pressure 3 times, but just felt like a lotion rub down. It does not offer a lot of privacy or security. The massage was an hour long, but I came close to requesting it to finish early and leave. It use to be better before the ownership changed. read more

This place used to be a solid 4 or 5 star, depending on who you got and whether they honored the 10 minute additional massage. However, in recent months, the quality of the 'massages' have gotten to below mediocre. I say 'massages' loosely because this most recent time (today at 6:30 pm), I essentially got a lotioned rub down with some sporadic elbowing and aggressive patting. I went in with a stiff neck and tight back-- those are still there. Don't get me wrong, the massage is $39, I'm not expecting the best deep tissue here. I just want to at least feel a bit more loose. Not sure if there's been a change of management or what, but I hope things turnaround. Until then, I'm once again looking for another massage spot. read more

Had a wonderful experience here! Pricing was great, booking an appointment was quick and easy, and the massage felt amazing. The woman who gave me a massage dug in on my back, so if you're worried about getting a light massage, this is won't be a concern here. In fact, there were times when I thought I would have to ask her to apply a little less pressure, but I knew that's REALLY not what I wanted. The massage starts off with a towel over your body (you take off your clothes down to your underwear). They go over and massage your entire body with the towel still on. Then, they move the towel, so that it's covering only your lower half while they apply lotion and start massaging at the upper half of your back, shoulders, neck, etc. This process switches and they move down to your legs. Hot rocks are used at some point throughout this session (and it feels great!). Eventually, they flip you over and massage your head/temples, as well as the front side of your arms/shoulders/neck. I was personally not stretched out, but my boyfriend was. He also mentioned the use of oils, which I don't believe was used on me, but I might just have looped the oil and lotion together in my own head. This was my first massage experience and I would recommend anybody go here! read more

I was visiting from the west coast and over there, reflexology is super affordable. After walking around the city all week, I knew that I need a good massage. I looked up Yelp and was surprised how expensive it was in NY. It makes sense since I'm sure rent is super high. All the more affordable places I walked by, looked sketchy and it was underground. What reeled me in was that there was a photo saying "Legitimate Service, No Hanky Panky." THANK GOODNESS! I've seen news where cops close down businesses for prostitution. I do not want to lay on a massage bed where someone had a happy ending...gross! Anyway, Renewing Spa. It was affordable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. My masseuse would ask if the pressure was fine and offered me to extend the time if I'd like, which I did because I needed it! Afterwards she gave me water and allowed me to hang out a bit until the rain lit up. They also give stamp cards, but I was only visiting. Will stop by if I'm ever in the city again. read more
