I'd say the back area with the small couch is more of a first-come, first-served spot. The couch could comfortably fit a group of 4-5 people you came with, or maybe just one couple. Otherwise, it might feel a little awkward sharing such a small space with people you don't know unless you're not socially awkward. They have a good variety of drinks on the menu, though they don't sell any food. My sister didn't like the drink she initially ordered because she had requested foam and salt, but the staff was kind enough to remake it to her liking, which we really appreciated. Good customer service makes such a difference, and they handled it very kindly. My drink came out great... good size, good flavor, and fairly priced. Today at about noon, I went in and ordered at the register. I ordered my husband's large drink, and order my REGULAR drink, paid for an ADDED shot, and asked if it could be placed in a large cup instead of regular cup, with extra ice. No issues ordering and paying. Even left a tip in their jars. I move over to wait for my drink and the girl making the drinks (short curly hair) finds an issue with me asking for a large cup and tells me that is an upcharge because it's more plastic and it's an inventory issue, and I'd have to pay for a large drink. Really? At first I think that perhaps she's under the impression that I want more of the drink or extra ice on the side perhaps? so I proceed to explain to her that I want the same amount that comes with my regular drink, but just want extra ice and space for my added shot that was paid for, hence the larger cup. She refused to budge and tells me it doesn't matter, that I have to pay for a large, even though I had already paid and the girl taking my order has no issue with this. Her attitude towards the situation was so bizarre and I wonder if her inability to process what I was explaining is what caused her to be so "firm" on this, but I left feeling so disappointed and frankly, not sure if I want to return. Possibly losing a customer over what you think is a 50cent "thievery" seems like bad business. UPDATE: within minutes of the review posting, Isaiah, the CEO personally called me to apologize for the poor experience and promised to look into this to make sure it doesn't happen again. Paying almost 8 dollars for a specialty tea wasn't a great feeling, but they had an atmosphere and quality that offset it for the most part. Now, they expect you to pay 10 dollars for some of those exact same drinks. The most recent menu price update for august brought some items up to 9.85 pre-tax. That doesn't even include the dollar extra for their specialty tapiochi. You can't even modify the sweetness or dairy on some! Seriously? How in the world can little more than a single year of being open warrant that kind of price increase? You can't even pull the quality card at that point because you can get high quality ceremonial matcha with specialty housemade syrups, toppings, or foam/cream caps at plenty of other places these days and that's typically in the 7 dollar range, which is, again, not a fun number to pay for a drink. For these prices, I ought to see the receipts on some kind of hyper-local sourced fruits and dairy, specialty fair+ free trade small batch organic tea where we know the farmer's name and when it was harvested. (These aren't even unreasonable asks, you can purchase imported matcha and tea in the US with this level of transparency). It feels more like a hype traffic price increase rooted in greed than anything else. That kind of anti-consumer move doesn't win loyalty, it wins you one trip and an instagram photo and an "it was good, but not worth what I paid." Which is how I felt the last time I ordered the matcha einspanner, which was more bitter than I'd expect and not even smoothly whisked to eliminate graininess. Congrats on your profit margins though, I guess. Your workers make minimum wage and the website says the owner is (was?) a medical doctor. That says something, doesn't it.
