I'm so torn writing this. While I do truly like the coffee and food selection here (whenever I'm craving chilaquiles I come here), the environment is very unenjoyable on almost every visit. Firstly, there's so many customers and not enough staff, so you'll often times find the basic amenities like the ice water or bathroom toiletries out of stock. Secondly, not only are there a ton of people but they seem to all be oblivious and annoying. On my most recent visit, I saw a woman who tried to change her coffee order WHILE the barista was making it, and there were two groups with dogs occupying the entire sidewalk, with their dogs nearly on top of me as I tried to eat my breakfast in peace. I'll try to remind myself to only come during weekdays and avoid the extra stupid people who seem to come out on the weekends. read more

Found this gem while in the area of Pasadena, and would definitely recommend it. We went here close to 1pm, and we were greeted friendly. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Service was fairly quick for as busy as they were. There was also live music at this time of our visit. We wanted the short rib Benedict, but they ran out of it, so we ordered the breakfast burrito instead (we'd rate that 3/5), it was bland but still good. It just didn't make that much of an impression. Could use some spice as the salsa it came with lacked flavor and spice. The breakfast croissant was presented well and was delicious, 5/5. Cute coffee shop! There's apparently free parking here I didn't know about, so I have to keep it in mind for next time. It was a rainy day, luckily we found some seating inside. I ordered the lavender chai latte which was really fragrant and lovely. I haven't been consuming as much caffeine so I'm glad I had this drink to enjoy. There's a few other options I'd like to try next time! The toasts were also really yummy like the fruit and ricotta toast and the mushroom and avocado toast (which I had no idea would be such a delicious combo). Amazing cafe! I ordered the Tuna Melt and the ratio was absolutely perfect. The bread was amazing, tuna salad had the perfect mix-ins and gooey cheese. I also ordered the Vietnamese coffee with a cream top. Not too sweet or strong - it was the perfect creamy pick me up. There is tons of seating inside and outside. I visited Republik coffee with my daughter. It's a cute coffee spot in Pasadena. It has an ample street parking right in the front of the shop. We sat outside since the weather was nice. The owner is very friendly and he came outside to talk to us and we spoke a few words in Arabic because he is middle eastern. We ordered charcoal coffee, cafe mocha and avocado toast. Everything was delicious but a bit pricey. I would like to go back and try the different items on the menu. read more

Great breakfast/brunch spot in Pasadena! There's plenty of street parking and ordering is quick and easy -- order at the front and grab a seat with your number. You can sit inside or take advantage of their outdoor seating on Green Street that's really cute. I ordered the avocado toast and drip coffee and both were delicious! The avocado toast was tasty and I loved the seasoning on it. It's a hearty piece of toast and definitely filled me up. Their drip coffee was yummy and rich. Came here with a friend to do work on my "coffee shop Fridays." I've passed by this place often when I'm in Pasadena but never went in. Lots of people there working on laptops which is nice. I ordered the hummus avocado toast and the cardamom oat milk latte. I was surprised at how good both of them were. The latte was just the right amount of sweet. I liked how the avocado toast had lots of avocado and other veggies. They do happy hour pastries around 3 or so where all the pastries are half off. Was in the area for the rose bowl flea market and needed a caffeine pick-me-up before heading there. Got there right at opening and staff was friendly so early in the morning. I haven't wrote a 2-star review in quite some time. Parking in the surrounding is difficult even on a weekday. They do have a designated parking lot, in which they validate. Although, we found street parking. This place seems cool and the atmosphere is chill; however, it's next to a busy street and all of the banks / financial area. It's only good for convenience. We arrived around 11am and the place was packed with individuals on their laptops (free WiFi) and in meetings. The coffee was subpar: Oat flat white and regular latte. There were a few open spaces; the small couches & fake plants are normal in Pasadena. Not sure if the food is decent, but I won't be coming back. read more

In terms of their drinks, I appreciate that they have unique flavors and options (ie. Black Vanilla latte). 1. Black Vanilla Latte (4/5): It's black due to the charcoal, but otherwise, the flavor is similar to a regular vanilla latte. I got it with 2% milk and the sweetness was on point. 2. Sea Salted Hazelnut Cappuccino (5/5): I loved this drink. You have strong espresso with a dollop of hazelnut flavor that's subtle, but not overpowering. The milk foam was also perfectly frothed. The combo was just heart-warming!! 3. Salted Cold Brew (4/5) Love the strong coffee and the cloud-like foam on top. Minus 1 star because it was a bit too sweet. If they put less vanilla syrup or give the option to opt out of the syrup, this would've been perfect 5/5. read more

I'm completely disgusted after biting into a dark, hard woody spot in the avocado on the avocado toast. After looking this up it seems this sort of thing is caused by "chilling damage or advanced spoilage" and not safe to eat. Praying I don't get food poisoning. And never eating here again. read more

Really, nice and cozy coffee spot. Let's start with first things first: location. It's on Green Street so you already know parking is going to be a pain. While everyone tries to get a spot right in front of the cafe, I prefer to park around the corner or a street up. If you don't mind being slightly inconvenienced, please do that! While taking the orders, the cashier was supper chatty with her coworkers about non work related. There were only 3 people in line but it took her over 10 min to get our orders. My parents and I love getting our morning coffee and breakfast at Republik!! It's gotten so popular over the years, but the quality and service have stayed high. Our usual order: * Latte (either their specialty or just a normal latte): delicious, foamy, the best! * Croissant (almond, regular): my ONE grip with their pastries is that they leave it out in the open, and about a year and a half ago, they had flies landing on the pastries and they were just waving them off. This most recent visit, I didn't see any flies. * French Toast: so yummy and fluffy! The fruit paired with the French Toast is also fresh and sweet. Service/Ambiance: * The wait staff is quick to help and to find tables for you if it's too full. They were all also friendly and kind (my parents unknowingly blocked the doorway and the waiter was so sweet to them even though he was super busy bussing tables/serving) * Try to come at an off-peak hour to secure a table. We went on a Saturday at 10AM and there was a mix of people: some working alone on their laptops or others catching up. This place is always busy. Great place to sit read a book, or as others-laptop work. Had a London fog and a hummus avocado toast, vegan choice. I wish the hummus and avocado was more balance on the toast. Too much mash to hummus ratio. Also, it was noticeable that they used a premade mash for avocados which you can taste the difference. Finally had an opportunity to check out Republik for a quick coffee and bfast with a friend. Ample street parking on Green. I decided on the breakfast burrito and a Vietnamese cold brew. The drinks came out fairly quickly and waited a little bit for the food. The cold brew was tasty and condensed milk foam. It added a nice sweetness to the coffee like you'd find with your traditional ca fe sua da. The bfast burrito was decent but I think I prefer the ones at Lucky Boy or at Green Street Cafe. Very popular coffee shop in Pasadena. The line can get quite long depending on the time of day you go; I went on a Sunday morning and it was busy. They have some seating indoors and some outdoors. They sell pastries and lots of brunch food items that look delicious. I wanted to try one of their specialty coffee drinks and the barista recommended the sea salt hazelnut cappuccino. I ordered that w almond milk. Pretty steep price at $7.25. When it came out, I thought it was extremely sweet. I could barely drink it because it was so sweet. I felt bad because they were busy but I asked if it would be possible for them to remake it half sweet. They seemed a little stressed at the request but still remade me one, which I really appreciated. It was much better at half sweet, but I probably would order something else next time. However, the tables inside the shop get full fairly quickly as I went in around 9:40 AM and all the tables inside were full and there was a long line though, I went on a holiday. There are lots of tables outside to choose from and the service was great. Plus there's free WiFi (not the best WiFi when lots of people are on it though). Food and Drinks I got the seasonal orange polenta cake it's a 8/10 for me. Fresh everyday and not too sweet and you get just a hint of orange in every bite. The crushed cardamom oat latte is a 7/10. I tried their black vanilla latte and rose matcha latte. The black vanilla has activated charcoal and tastes like a vanilla latte and was way too sweet for me. The rose matcha had bits of rose petals on top but I didn't taste any rose flavor at all, the matcha flavor was very light and tasted mainly of almond milk that costs $7. Honestly had high expectations for the drinks here, but seems just okay to me. The drinks are quite pricey at $7 but they do include dairy free milk in most of the lattes. Overall a pricey, but aesthetically pleasing coffee shop.
