I stopped by Republic Coffee House and had such a lovely experience. I ordered a cortado, and honestly--it was perfect. Smooth, balanced, just the right strength. While I was enjoying my coffee, a musician was playing and singing, and that little touch completely changed the atmosphere. It added soul and warmth to the whole place. Service was good too. I didn't try anything else from the menu yet, but I'm pretty sure it's as good as the coffee. I'll definitely come back to explore more. This spot has something special. read more

We came here after lunch and wanted some coffee for the day and were really impressed with this place. On the weekends they have live music (at least on the Saturday we went), and the place felt really nice and fancy compared to most coffee shops. It's a great place for a date or even just to hang with a few friends or even work/study! We ordered the sea salt hazelnut as a latte - normally a cappuccino but service was friendly and accommodating enough to just make a latte! We also had the black vanilla latte! And both were really good. One of the better coffee spots we've visited in the Pasadena area for drinks and lattes like this! Street parking required, we walked some ways to get here. Came here today with my daughter. We walked in and there was a line and the placer was pretty full. We got in line to order , I ordered a lavender latte and some chilaquiles and my daughter ordered an iced matcha and the breakfast sandwich. We were lucky to find a table to sit inside . They bring you the food to your table and the drinks you have to go and get when they call your name. My chilaquiles were good , I wished they were a little more spicy but overall they were not bad. The sauce was pretty good and the eggs were cooked well. My lavender oat latte was very good too, I would get that next time again. My daughter didn't like her iced matcha, she could tell by the color of it that it was not going to be good. She did though enjoy her breakfast sandwich. It comes with a side of fruit. $10 coffee with tip isn't for everyone, but it might be for you. Two stars. One for outdoor seating, and two because I was feeling generous. Republik Coffee was overpriced, unfriendly, overhyped and not worth it. The saying, "you get what you pay for", and "if you want good service you pay for it" was not the case here. I ordered an iced cafe latte with oat milk, and received an iced cafe latte with almond milk which totaled over $8. That's wild, and to top it off my order was incorrect. I've worked as a barista at large corporations as well as smaller boutique shops. I know service, and this was terrible. It was my first cup of the day and I was looking forward to it. I always tip so my coffee turned into a $10 nightmare. Adding on, the WiFi was off so I used my personal hotspot. My first impression and lasting impression of Republik Coffee is regret. No WiFi service, no actual service, no parking, no greeting, overpriced, incorrect order due to lack of awareness and not repeating orders, and my coffee just sat as I waited outside. Although the staff offered to re-do it considering they poured almond milk versus the oat milk; I was already late. Will I be back and recommend this place to businesses nearby? Unlikely. read more

Really love this place for long study days as they're one of the few coffee shops open till later (6pm) on weekends. I had a matcha and breakfast burrito which were both delicious. Despite it being pretty busy, service was quick. Ambiance is nice with ample seating indoor/outdoor. There is supposed to be Wi-Fi but there was no network with the name they suggested? No one seemed to know. Kinda annoying as everyone had to use their hotspot. Will be difficult to study if they don't have Wi-Fi at all. read more

A good spot to grab coffee, some food, and get work done! I came here on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. There were a good amount of people doing work or just quietly chatting. I ordered the Black Vanilla Latte and it was good! Very unique with the coconut charcoal. I also ordered the Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, which was filling and delicious. My only thing was there weren't a lot of outlets, making it difficult if you're planning on staying for a while. Overall, great work cafe! read more

This coffee shop is almost always busy, so we stopped in today to give it a shot. It's pretty loud for a coffee shop, but it seems intentional as it's more of a chat and converse vibe than study and relax vibe given that they serve food and alcohol as well. The line moved pretty quickly, and after ordering a cold brew we left and then tried the drink. I've had my fair share of cold brews over time, but this cold brew was undrinkable. It tasted bitter, burnt and disgusting. I usually will power through but didn't want to waste $6.50 on a coffee especially given how rude the barista was when we ordered. Despite there being no preparation and simply a pour into the cup, Matty acted like I insulted his family when I returned it to ask for a refund. He processed the refund and surprisingly didn't even offer to make something else or find something else we might like. To wrap it all up, I kindly asked him if he wanted me to leave the drink so he could toss it out or if I should throw it away and he rudely responded, "you can do whatever you want." Everything about this place is great - went several times because it's in my neighborhood and each time, things were great. The only reason I'm reluctantly giving it 3 stars is because of an experience I had recently with one of the guys at the register who took our order. It was the one time we weren't getting drinks and just got pastries. We first asked about one of the cakes and what it was and we got an irritated "what?" Like we were interrupting something critical. And then once we chose and paid for the pastries, as we were saying thank you he just TOSSED them to us while turned talking to another worker. I'm sorry, but give me a break. How is that customer service remotely acceptable. I went to Republik on a Saturday around 10 am and it was surprisingly empty. There was a group of two people in front of me. However it did get busier as I was ordering. I got the purple caramel latte and it was delicious! They had put out fresh croissants that were super buttery and good. The area where you pick up your drinks was a bit small for all the customers they had. We were all trying to figure out how to get lids and pick up our drinks at the same time. came here on a Thursday afternoon and it was surprisingly really pack. parking was very limited. there's only street parking which is hard to find. I ended parking in a nearby parking lot which was about a 10 minute walk from the café. if u r coming to study be sure to come as early as possible. I came around 1 or 2 pm and the tables were already filled. there are both outside and inside seating. tables inside are kind of small but enough space for a laptop and a coffee. outside seating was nice, it was a hot day but the trees provided shade. my friend and I got a pesto sandwhcih, breakfast plate, & a black vanilla latte. the black vanilla latte was a pretty standard coffee. It had a hint of cinnamon which was nice, nothing mind blowing though. the food was pretty good. loved the presentation. the sandwhcih was very tasty and very filling. to be honest the sandwhcih can definitely be a 2 person meal. the salad was also pretty decent, I loved the lemony dressing. read more

I had a frustrating experience picking up an order here. When I arrived, the staff were only paying attention to customers in line and completely ignored drivers waiting for pickups. I stood there for a while without any acknowledgment. When I finally asked about my order, I was told to wait by the wall next to the restroom, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. There was no communication about how long the wait would be, and no effort to assist or prioritize pickup orders. I understand that it can get busy, but pickup drivers are also part of your business and should be treated with basic respect and efficiency. This is a local spot for me, so I have been here multiple times, but my last visit really solidified my opinion of this coffee shop. First I will say, the food and drinks here can range from good to great! However when it comes to pricing, how much you get for said price can be very hit or miss. You can definitely tell high quality ingredients are used for the food, however the portions for certain plates can be small and not worth the price. I would expect to be blown away by the food since the price to portion ratio isn't there, but again, most plates are simply good, nothing amazing. So far I have tried 5 different breakfast plates, and so far the breakfast sandwich seems to be the best deal for what you pay, as the sandwich itself is really great and actually portioned well. However it is still expensive. Second , the service here is really good! I've never had a problem with any of the staff being rude or anything. They are all very friendly and I recognize how stressful it can be to work at such a busy place, so no complaints here. The food can take a while to come out, even for pickup orders, but again it's very busy here most of the time so I can't exactly fault them for that. My last visit they actually messed up my order by mistake and fixed it immediately and gave me a complimentary sandwich for the troubles, so that was nice of them. Expect no trouble here when it comes to the staff, they're great! And finally, the shop itself is very nice inside and outside, it can be a little difficult to find a spot to sit since the place is pretty packed but the place has a great lively vibe. Ultimately, the higher prices of this place is what keeps me from coming back more often. In my eyes the food isn't amazing enough to justify said prices. This place is a great to go to every once in a while if you want something a tad bit elevated for breakfast/lunch but I've definitely had better in Pasadena for a cheaper price. read more

I used to think that flavor must be caused by the beans. But, I learned that under-extraction can cause it and the ground size can contribute to the under-extraction. So the technique seems to have a significant impact. But, cool place and maybe the food or espresso drinks are better. read more

I frequent Republik coffee more than I would like to admit, but this is because they are superior to pretty much all the competition in all aspects of perfect coffee shop-ness. Not only do they have a beautiful, comfortable environment to relax and work in, but their food and beverages are top quality and consistently delicious. I get my nails done regularly next door but only a month or so ago decided to finally check Republik out. I've now been there several times and I have to say this is some of the best coffee I've had. I'm not big on coffee drinks which I always consider quite unnecessary/frou-frou but here, their Signature Drinks HIT. I've had several 'as is' (no modifications) and they are just so...balanced. I am scarred by sweetness of some other cafe renditions but nothing here I have found overwhelmed by the sweetener. Black Vanilla Latte, Lavender & Oat, Cardamom Oat Latte, Sea Salted Hazelnut Cappuccino, Purple Caramel Latte...you honestly can't go wrong. My 1st order was actually their Vietnamese Cold Brew ("dark roast cold brew, condensed milk, coconut water, rich cold foam" and I was SO SURPRISED how good it was. I remember audibly mouthing "wow." So safe to say I'm now a big fan after experiencing this + other choices beyond it. Food: I haven't had a full meal here but a good selection of brunch dishes I see others around me partaking in + a few brunch cocktails. In the meantime, I have however, gotten hooked on their pastries i.e. their ham & cheese croissant (warmed up) eats like a meal as it's the right amount of decadent. P.S. I came to Pasadena and wanted to try it after seeing it on social media. To begin with, the staff and service were very unwelcoming. The pastries did not look fresh at all, and the cleanliness and upkeep was a bit questionable. Sat down at a table outside, and we had to remove the previous customers coffee glass off the table. Still being hopeful, sat down to enjoy the coffee, and there was a strong sewage smell in the area. How are people sitting comfortably with that stench in the air? I had to watch which item to get because there were flies inside the display where they grabbed the small sandwiches. They also had a fridge that kept all the cold items and desserts. Their patio is pet friendly and is nice and small. A cute little coffee shop. They also sell alcohol there.
