Whether you're passing through or making a pilgrimage, this place delivers on value, selection, and old-school craftsmanship you don't see often anymore. The selection here is huge. Literally stacked floor to ceiling. It's not laid out like a perfect boutique, but more like a working shop overflowing with options. You may have to search a bit and dig through to find your size because things do get a little jumbled and occasionally a size finds its way into the wrong spot, but honestly, that's part of the charm. You walk in and immediately feel like you're in the real deal: a workshop, not a gimmick. The pricing alone makes this a must-stop. Very fair, extremely competitive, and in many cases significantly better than what you'll find online or in western stores. Not to mention, you're getting hats straight from the source. What really set the experience apart, though, was the service. My wife and I were taken care of by Alfredo, and he was phenomenal. There was a slight language barrier between him and me, but they handled it gracefully, never rushed, always attentive, and they made sure communication was smooth by assisting with translation as needed. You could tell he took pride in what he does and wanted to get it right. The shaping, fit, and attention to detail here were outstanding. You're not just buying a hat; you're getting craftsmanship done right in front of you. Watching them steam, shape, and customize is its own experience. Hours are good, staff hustles, and the vibe is classic Texas hospitality. In short: huge selection, great prices, real people doing real craftsmanship. This is a great option if you have time to really walk around the store to check out all of their hat options. It appears they have quite a selection of some types of hats and others are dependent on where they have overstock or irregulars. One of the highlights is their hat shapers that can help you clean up and/or reshape a hat to your liking. They are quite knowledgeable and very engaging when you work for them. Their fee is rather reasonable if it isn't a hat bought from their store. read more

Man, there are a lot of hats here, and good prices too. We didn't end up getting anything when we went, because we were in explorer mode. I found a belt there that I should have gotten...next time. Be careful when you are in there because it's a wee bit tight in spots. read more

The staff took care to show us various options, to figure out sizing, and explain the whole process. There were so many options in terms of material used (rabbit or beaver fur), colors, and shapes. This place has all the hats. If you are looking for a new hat, this is your place. They have 1st and 2nds. The hats with imperfections are discounted and then usually discounted again. But you can also find 1st run quantity hats too. They have a steam and shape table on sight and will shape your hat for free or you can tip. They have belts, buckles, hats, cologne and other items in the front of the store too. Staff are friendly and have great knowledge of the store and hats. read more

I visited recently wanting a hat that was good for summer travel. I was pretty open to any number of styles of hat. After looking around for an hour and a half, I really couldn't find anything that fit the bill. There were a couple of "maybe" hats, but each had some flaw that made the hat not wearable (for example, a deformation that rubbed against my forehead that would have been very uncomfortable after wearing for a few minutes or longer). There were some that might have been great, but were only available in one or two sizes. Bottom line, there are a LOT of hats here, but the variety was lacking. read more

I'm an avid hat guy, love/prefer dress hats, felt and straw fedoras although can't resist the open road (#StetsonOnly). I generally buy in NY (JJ Hat Center), although can sometimes find what I'm looking for at The Adolphus (Dallas Downtown) but continue to struggled with quality local Dallas area shops. Love the selection and service here at the Resistol Outlet. Highly recommend it if you're looking for quality, value good old Texas/Southern service/hospitality!! I'll warn you, don't go for a hat cleaning on Saturday, cuz the wait is generally over an hour. read more

Good selection of cowboy hats in many price ranges make this a good place to buy a hat. The Saturday in August 2021 that we visited was busy, and although due to the line of other buyers in front of us it took about 30 minutes to get the hat steamed and the band finalized, we were very happy with our purchase and the service when it was our turn. read more

We waited outside in the rain while it was 43 degrees outside for at least half an hour waiting to get in. We get inside the associates aren't nice. The hats are not clean and the sizes aren't in the right place. After seeing the line to get hats shaped we knew it wasn't worth staying. I did take a look at the women's hats. They were ok, but seemed oddly shaped or the brims had weird crinkles. It seemed like this store had hats that were the real brand, but weren't good enough to be sold to major retailers. I wouldn't spend a dollar in this store or another second waiting in their lines. Go to a regular store and save yourself the hassle. read more

I found this place when we first moved to Texas about six years ago. My wife had bought me a new Stetson hat and it was a bit too small. I brought it here to see if they could stretch it out a bit. No problem. They have some very old hat making tools and well trained people who shape hats to fit your needs. Almost every hat in the place needs a little customization and these folks are pros. Now this is a place I bring folks visiting from out of town and newcomers to the area. There is something here for everyone who is looking for some genuine Texas gear. The store is one of true hidden treasures of Texas. I have been buying hats from the Resistol Outlet Store for a little over two years now. Whether you are looking for a western hat, a fedora, a straw summer hat or a variety of Stetson and Resistol branded clothing and accessories this is your place. On the Site of the Resistol/Stetson Factory, the outlet store sells factory seconds at surprising discounts. Hats in stock can range from extremely high quality all beaver Stetsons and Resistol Cowboy hats to mid-range felt hats to lower cost wool hats. The selection is very wide, but it is also constantly changing. The hats available one week may be completely different from the ones available a few weeks later. But don't fret. If you are looking for a specific style, color, and size of hat you can add your name and the hat you are looking for to a list kept at the check out and they will call you when your hat is available. Additionally, there is a hat cleaning station in the back of the store where the staff will clean and spruce up your hats for that special occasion. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I have bought 6 or 7 beautiful Stetson Fedoras and a couple nice straw hats over the last two years. Recently, I was given a nice gift card to the Outlet store for Christmas. I had a plan to by a very special hat that I wouldn't normally buy for myself. When I went shopping, unfortunately, the hat I was looking for wasn't available, but keeping an open mind I started shopping. When I was finished I walked out of the store with not 1 but 3 new hats. When I got home I checked the retail prices of the hats on line. I scored a big haul. The three hat I bought were selling for over $725 retail. I got them for $242! And considering a large chunk of that was in the form of a Christmas gift card I made out like a bandit. Next time you need a hat, take a drive out to Garland first. :) read more

I've been coming here for years and Aubrey the owner and the staff have always been courteous and patient in helping me and many others that I've brought into the store. Unfortunately, the gentleman (who I believe was the manager), was extremely rude and very unprofessional. Over a hat box, which I requested and was rudely denied. As a frequent out of town customer, I always make it a point to visit the store when I'm in town visiting family. The gentleman's condescending attitude towards Hispanics is a reminder of why I left the great State of Texas over 20 years ago. Very sad! HORRIBLE, I drove all the way here over an hour for them to be closed. Even when their hours say open. You never know if they're gonna be open or not please do not come here go somewhere else. When I called to check they were so rude and acted like I was bothering them. Definitely going out of my way to take my business elsewhere from now on. read more
