It's a cute Mexican diner. Look small but it can easily fitted 50 pplx in here if the needs comes to it. There are many tasty oil painting hangs on its wall. When you walk your way to the bano you can walk past the kitchen. Two sweet women Mexicans was working behind it. They are friendly ones. I loved they cooked all the dishes freshly. Muy delicioso!! Just a block off of Malecon, but still not very touristy. Mostly locals eating here, with very authentic and inexpensive meals. I had the Chile relleno which was served with a side of beans and rice, and tortillas. I'm glad I didn't order something to go with it, as it was a large portion, and very delicious. read more

Good cheap authentic Mexican food. Family owned. Nice folks. Not fancy, if you're a fussy gringo you may not be comfortable with the basic level of furnishings and cleanliness. The toilets do not have seats on them. And locals still subscribe to the notion that toilet paper clogs the plumbing, so they dump their used sheets of it in the open trash can at your left leg. My posole was heaping with meats & cabbage. Delicious! $6 for the big bowl. Alert: pay in pesos. I didn't have any. I paid in dollars. They charged me a 30% tariff for the privilege. read more

Showed up for breakfast on a Jan 2, mid morning and I stood outside thinking I should wait to get seated. 2-3 gals walked by until one asked if I needed help. She sat me and brought a menu. She took my order and soon after two other people came by to take my order. A family who sat near me waited a good 10-15 minutes before they were ever given a menu. I ordered the hot cakes and tacos (2 requesón and 2 picadillo). The soupy sauce on the tacos is bomb. Fresh squeezed oj was yum too. I stopped by this little restaurant for some quick lunch on my way back from Old town headed north. This restaurant is a little hole in the wall right off the main road with a simple little sign hanging up that says "Restaurant Lolita". This place is open for breakfast in the morning as well as lunch in the afternoon. When walking by this place at night, it always seemed to be closed up. This struck me as a small little family business as they had their kids bringing food out to people. There is a sink in the back to wash your hands if needed and the dining area overall appeared to be quite clean. They handed me a menu in Spanish, I don't think they have a English one. The servers didn't speak any English, but I made do with my broken Spanish. The prices for the food here are amazingly on the cheap side. They serve up lots of different authentic Mexican food you'd find in this area. Tacos, quesadillas, bisteak plates, soups, etc. There was also a lot of breakfast options on the menu as well, but they stopped serving it by the time I got there. All I ordered was three small carne asada tacos and two small quesadillas both in corn tortillas. My friends and I stumbled upon this place and ended up eating here at least once or twice daily for an entire week. The price point was just SO good given how delicious and high quality the food was. Breakfast and the fresh squeezed juices were the highlight. 90% of patrons are locals, which is what we loved about it, and though service is spotty (they've got everyone from the slowpoke grandfather to the temperamental teenage daughter providing service) at times, it's spotty in a charming way. When we were dining the teenage daughter got into some sort of disagreement with her father and she shouted at him in Spanish. It was cute seeing the family dynamics...and apparently this place has been family owned since the 1960's. You'll fine just a lot of traditional hearty dishes but always with fresh ingredients. If you want a taste of authentic, Mexico but in a place that's clean, frill-free, and affordable, this is your spot. Don't come here for resort Tex-Mex or you'll be sorely disappointed. read more

I was so excited to see that Yelpers are doing their duty in little Puerto Vallarta right before my vacation. However, upon arrival, my 'smart' phone was not cooperating and finding a reliable internet connection proved to be almost impossible. Thus, I was unable to Yelp about where to eat! After many misses (surprisingly, much of the food in PV is Americanized!) our little group was delighted to find Restaurant Lolita. We had been looking for a place that sold posole to no avail! So, when we spotted the little sign on the outside of tiny little Restaurant Lolita advertising the delicious soup, we decided to check it out! The posole was delicious! Very flavorful and with just the right amount of hominy to meat ratio. The Platillo Mexicano that my husband ordered was also very good! It had a chile relleno, an enchilada, a quesadilla, a tamal and a sope! Needless to say, he couldn't finish it. They also have freshly squeezed orange juice, and freshly blended milk shakes. We returned on the following day for breakfast and I tried the green chilaquiles, which were delicious! Be sure to add an egg over-easy, which will enhance the flavor. I also recommend the pancakes, which were delicious! I could tell they used real butter and real vanilla in their batter.
