This bike shop was the only one open today. I had plans to go to Ciclavia and lo and behold my bike had a flat. I was so upset as I made plans with friends to do this and I thought I wasn't going to make it since most of the bike shops were closed. I brought my brand new bike here out of the box because I was having trouble putting it together. The guys there were nice and they were able to build it for me. I dropped it off on a Sunday evening and picked it up Monday morning. The price was ok but I had to take off my front mudguard because it kept hitting my tire when I rode it, so I was expecting it to also get fixed, thats the only small problem. 1,000 stars for MELVIN. I came in this shop with two flat tires, bent rims, bad brakes, the most rusted chain you can imagine. I walked in and met with Melvin , who was completely professional. Went above and beyond what I asked and installed all parts I purchased (which were at a good price). There is another guy who works there that I really do NOT like OR CARE FOR .. at all. I am so glad, I came at the right time to meet MELVIN. I don't even know the other guys name, but he is not professional and is all over the place, he might be the owner. This post is basically about MELVIN, because with out him there , I would not go. I trust my money and bike here, he is honest and professional ........ Yikes. I read all of the great reviews on here and made the drive out to Van Nuys to see if I can find a beach cruiser here. I should've known by the outside that I wasn't going to find anything but I figure we go in and give it a show anyway. Double Yikes.... I walk in and this place was frankly scary. I have no idea how everyone says it's so awesome. Maybe it's more of a repair shop than a retail outlet. I was in search of a new bike.... everything I saw looked like it was pulled out of a junkyard. I would never pay for any of it. Furthermore, not one person acknowledged us when we walked in. The store is the size of a closet. I mean, I was seriously stunned after reading all of these fabulous reviews on here to find what I found. Total disappointed. I ended up going to Burbank Bike Shop and found what I wanted. And there's also a place called Peddlers up the street that is far nicer and has a much better selection!! Found this place on Yelp, came in to get the brakes replaced. Was greeted & helped immediately! They gave us an option on the brakes, $10 or $15 brands. We were able to pick up our bike in less than one hour. After testing, one of the brakes was rubbing against the tire, but Melvin adjusted it right on the spot. Great prices and service! Will definitely be back next time our bike needs maintenance. read more

These guys are great! Nester helped us and was very friendly and helpful. He fixed my boyfriend's bike (inflated tires, greased the chain and adjusted the brakes) for a straight 5 bucks. They have a very convenient location on the corner of Victory and Van Nuys and have a good selection of parts. We might even go back for an ebike he has on sale- best price we can find anywhere. Took my road bicycle for a regular routine service. They asked me if I wanted the regular service or the "high" end service. I really didn't know which one to choose but he recommended the regular service. I really like the fact that they didn't try to force to get the "high" end service. Convenient sidewalk location, and friendly employees. Took bike in for a seat adjustment and it was done without charge. Turned out I needed a new clamp, as seen still bent when I tried to ride away. I don't know about everyone else's experience, but so far mine is not good. I stopped in on Friday to get my road bike tuned, get new tires and a new seat. Nestor told me the bike would be ready Monday afternoon. Monday afternoon I call him and he tells me that it wasn't supposed to be until Tuesday, he tells me that he wrote it on the invoice. I immediately sent him a copy of the invoice, noting that there is no day or time on the invoice itself, and remind him that he gave me his spoken word that it would be ready on Monday. He then tells me that he made a mistake and that my bike should be ready by Tuesday afternoon. On Tuesday afternoon I show up at the shop and my bike is still on the rack one of the employees tells me that it's not ready and he calls a mechanic over and tells him "this fool is here for his bike" The mechanic with the nonchalant attitude tells me what do you want me to do about it I can't do anything. I'm angry at this point and tell him that they should not have told me that it was going to be ready if it was not going to be ready when they said it was! I spoke to Nestor on the phone and he tried to apologize and try to tell me he would discount it, but I explained to him that my time is very valuable and that it was not a money issue. I still haven't got my bike. I will not be doing business with them again! read more

He had the problem fixed inside five minutes, refused any pay, and was more appreciative that I thought to bring it to them in the first place.
