Mini traditional cheesecake for kids with peanut allergies

No gimmicks, no weirdness just classic cheesecake with that delicious dense, slightly-funky flavor and crunchy graham cracker crust. I've been having bad luck with cheesecakes lately that have strayed too far from what a cheesecake is and happy Reuschelle's broke that streak. My French friends who are super picky and critical about food once told me "Cheesecake is America's greatest culinary creation", their fondness for it was engrained in my memory. For their birthday event Reuschelle's made us a custom peanut butter cheesecake and a mini traditional cheese cake or the kids with peanut allergies. We loved both cheesecakes and I thought the peanut butter one was especially nice, with the cheesecake and peanut butter flavor coming through nicely. Both were too sweet for our tastes and for our next order I would request if it could be 30% less sweet than default. You order online or via phone and pickup from their location in Hayward, we've tried driving by before but its ghost kitchen style and not a traditional store.

We had a birthday to celebrate in September and had been looking for cakes that were not too sweet. We recently saw several great reviews of this place (shoutout to Vincent L) so we wanted to give it a try! Ordering online and picking up in Hayward were both pretty easy. As a tip, you can order additional flavors from the seasonal menus or island menus in the 3" taster size if you want some more variety than just the flavors listed in the 4 pack sampler of the cheesecake menu! The pickup location is tucked away in a parking lot and a bit harder to find since there are no signs. We ordered 4 small 3" cheesecakes (key lime, passion fruit, mocha, lemon mezcal with blackberry molasses topping) which came out to $30. The mocha one seemed to have an Oreo-like crust which we enjoyed, and we did think that the fruity flavors could have had a more prominent crust. That being said, the flavors were all spot-on and not too sweet, and the citrusy ones were wonderfully tart. We loved the sampler size because it's perfect for trying new flavors with other people. We're definitely suckers for citrusy flavors but saw that Reuschelle's just released a fall menu, so we're definitely looking forwards to trying some new ones!

The best dang cheesecake we've had. I'm sad that it took us awhile to try this place out, given I don't really crave cheesecake and my fiance is the only one from both our families who crave it. Also the price may seem steep but for the quality and portions, it's actually a steal once you taste how good it is! Such good quality cheesecake with the best flavors from ube to mocha to fruity ones. Both our families raved about the cheesecake after trying, and I wanted more, it's that good! I can eat at least two slices a day if health was not a thing. The 9" size was a good size to provide us plenty of slices, and for both our immediate families to try. It's not too sweet, had tons of fresh strawberries on top, and it was so smooth. So I got a 9" strawberry shortcake one for my fiance's birthday, about $55 after using the $5 promotion for shelter in place. I placed the order a couple weeks in advance. Keep in mind you need to give at least a few days lead time. We picked it up in downtown Hayward Friday morning. There's a small parking lot outside so we had no issues finding the parking. We had to circle at least once since we didn't see a large sign, but there's a standing board outside with the store name. The owner, Victor, greeted me and was friendly, exerting good vibes. My fiance called the shop a few weeks earlier and claimed he felt the positives vibe from him; great customer service! He also responds pretty quickly to emails. The cheesecake was so good, I ordered a couple more for Christmas for our families. Also we told our family and friends about it and they all will try! Going to try to order as many cheesecakes as I can before this place blows up way beyond it can scale. LOL jk that'll be a great day when that happens. This is definitely a gem in Hayward!

White Chocolate Raspberry Chocolate Chip 9"

Wow! I use this word to describe two things. First, it has been months since my last review because I haven't been anywhere other than Safeway since March. Second... Reuschelle's Cheesecakes! WOW! I learned about Reuschelle's when I received info from Yelp about black owned businesses. I started looking in Hayward, since that's where we live and there it was. How did I not know this place existed? I immediately visited their website and started salivating over the pictures. I knew I had to try one. It took a few weeks, but I finally got myself to the Castro Valley Farmers Market, because Reuschelle's is pretty much there every Saturday. Having not ordered ahead of time, I planned to pick up two 3" cheesecakes. I came home with a Key Lime and a Maple Peach Bourbon (MPB). The Key Lime was wonderfully tart. The MPB was out of this world! It was time to order one and so I did that very day. And on the following Saturday I picked up a 9" White Chocolate Raspberry Chocolate Chip cheesecake. Oh my! The taste of raspberry is so fresh. The chocolate chips are subtle. The chocolate crust enhances the flavor perfectly. And the texture! So rich, thick and moist. Every bite was heavenly. Now that I've fallen in love with Reuschelle's Cheesecakes, they will be my go to for special occasions.

Love it! It's creamy, dense and packed with cheesy flavor and the best part - it's not too sweet! It feels like eating ice cream - creamy and delicious! I ordered a cake for my parent's bday a couple days prior bc I think somewhere on the website it says it is better to order ahead so I did that in case and I went to pick it up at the end of the week @ the designated spot. Prior to picking up the cake, I emailed The owner. He respond quickly and ensured that I am able to pick up the cake. My overall experience was really good! Always a winner in my book! I have made it a point to go to the Castro Valley Farmer's Market regularly on Saturdays to get Reuschelle's. You can't miss their stall that has a list of weekly revolving cheesecake flavors--most of them crossed out (or sold out) before 12pm. Order: This past weekend, I got the sampler (pack of 4, which included my choice of flavors: original, blueberry, and 2 peach bourbon maple) and an individual Peach Cobbler. I made an order online 3-4 days in advance, and set the pick up for the Castro Valley Farmers Market. I received my confirmation through email. Pick-up: Seamless interaction Customer service: Pleasant demeanor and ready to give you info. Quality: These morsels of goodness never fails. I usually get the original and/or blueberry, but this time... I WAS NO MATCH FOR THE PEACH COBBLER!! I never ate one of the cheesecakes so quick! (FYI: It was a wonderful and glorious 2 minutes.) Overall, You gotta try it and spread the word!!! My friends had posted and recommended Reuschelle's since 2019 and I am pretty darn shamed of myself for not trying it sooner. These mini cheesecakes have been an indulgence since Summer 2020 and I can't give enough credit to Victor. Reuschelle's has become one of my favorite small businesses in the Bay Area. Please try for yourself (and for your friends and family too)! NOTE: You will find yourself coming back for more :)

So we have things that we look for when we size up a place. We are total suckers for small business run by locals. It goes without saying that we also love a great story. Personable owner? Yep its on the list. In the case of Reuschelle's Cheesecakes, and its owner Victor, we easily hit all three! It goes without saying, we are talking about APEX cheesecakes here. They are literally the best on the planet. Cheesecakes which seems simple on the surface, requites a nuanced touch to make properly and like a good building they require a proper foundation. When confronted with a new cheesecake place we (much like ordering a margarita pizza) we always go for the basic model. Cream cheese, eggs, sugar, and crust are at the core of a good cheesecake. It is simply impossible to hide sub standard ingredients behind bold flavors. The quality of the ingredients, the freshness of the cake itself, and the skill of the baker all play a part. In the case of Reuschelle's Cheesecakes, Victor the owner/baker, is simply a master of this art. The Original: Its really hard to wrap your head around how good this "basic" cheesecake is. It is the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The texture is silky smooth throughout and the gram cracker crunch add a nice contrast to the silky texture. On the palate the hints of lemon and vanilla help balance off the decadent richness of the cheese. (it actually reminded me of those addictive animal crackers of my youth) It is perfection in a slice. Paired with a 2001 Chateau d'Yquem, Itself an apex Sauternes, it was heaven The Mocha: after the original, the mocha is our favorite. Chocolate and coffee with the original's foundation. The crust unlike the original is made of chocolate cookies. The acidic bite of the coffee plays off of the chocolate to balance out the subtle flavors. The crust adds a texture element to the whole affair along with an additional layer of chocolate. This provide a nice contrast to the silky smooth mouthfeel of the base. Again every element is in perfect balance with each other. Given that this one was more bold that the previous cheesecake we paired it with a 2007 Dolce Late Harvest (Far Niente). It always cracks me up to see people wax poetically about the Cheesecake Factories pies, they clearly have never tasted Reuschelle's. So what are the downsides? Well for now unless you live in the SF Bay Area you are out of luck. Also There is no storefront for you to drop buy. However he does offer deliver for a reasonable rate. You can sign up for emails telling you where you can find the cheesecakes (local markets etc). Also there is a 3-4 day lead time when ordering so keep that in mind. If you cannot decide he does offer mini sampler packs so you can get a taste of several flavors.

I believe the greatest compliment is usually in a form of a review. I found Victor on yelp and trusted the 5 star reviews. Initially there was a meeting hiccup, so I didn't get to meet him as he dropped off my order to my door. I thought he was running late but Victor was on time as planned as I was driving through a tunnel back home. When I got to my door, I was so pleasantly surprised by a Valentine's Day card. It really brightened my night! Super nice touch for Valentine's Day! I decided to order a sampler of 4 mini cheesecakes (strawberry shortcake, ube, caramel apple and original) for $30 and another 7" strawberry shortcake cheesecake $45. He doesn't have his own shop to pickup from, but he delivers locally for $5 (depends where you are). He also sells at Castro Valley Farmer's market too. There are gluten free and vegan friendly options too. Order at least 4 days before you want it. Payment is through his website with Paypal. The cheesecakes are on the higher side versus the standard cheesecake elsewhere. But boy, oh boy... you can taste the difference. It's a nice splurge for me. For 2 people, the 4 mini cheesecake sampler was devoured in less than 24 hours. You can taste the craft and gourmet artistry in every savorable bite. I can't wait for the next order! I used to think" "A cheesecake is a cheesecake. Ho Hum" and then if one is trying to imitate on of my favorite pies, Key Lime Pie, THAT is going to be especially tough to do. Just finding great Key Lime Pie is all over the place; many are too sweet, some taste like chemicals, others are just sour. So a cheesecake that matches a good Key Lime Pie is really rare for me to find--especially when I'm not confident that most cheesecakes are up to being just good ones to begin with. But then at a picnic today, one of Reuschelle's superb Key Lime cheesecakes show up. With apologies to Bogey: Of all the picnic joints in all the towns in all the world, this cheesecake walks into mine. And boy am I glad. A terrific cheesecake that made EVERYONE at the picnic pop their eyes out (and put them back in) when they had a slice. Words like "Excellent." "Terrific" "Wowee Zowee" (OK not the last one) but this is one seriously delicious cheesecake. Reuschelle's makes one mean Key Lime cheesecake. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this spot. I ordered a few cheesecakes a few years ago for my mom's birthday. My mom and I loved them. They are the best size, and there are plenty of flavors to choose from. The owner is hella nice, and delivers on time! The prices are fair to me. I just saw their stand at the Castro Valley farmers market yesterday, and I picked up a few cheesecakes to take home. If you haven't tried these cheesecakes please give them a try. "It's Like Heaven on a Fork" ... that's their slogan. Indeed ... yes it is. We tried the banana rum cheesecake at Yelp Sip-Nic 2013. Ahh-mmma-zing. We could have eaten the whole tray. The. Whole. Tray. Dude, if your other flavors are half this good, I will hire you for the next 50 parties we throw, whatever the occasion (how are you with kids birthdays?). I'm totally gonna steal that banana rum idea and try it in my own cheesecakes (haha ... as if ... but no, really ;-) .) The only cheesecake shop my family orders from! We have tried the original, caramel apple, Ube, and chocolate marble. The Ube is so unique and DELICIOUS. I haven't seen an Ube cheesecake anywhere else. The caramel apple is my family's favorite, but you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Victor is the cheesecake MASTER. Period. I had my first sample of his cheesecake at a party and I swear, if I hadn't been conscious of all the other people the samples were there for, I may have run off with the whole tray. I recently changed jobs and, because I actually really liked the people I used to work with, I ordered two cakes from Reuschellle's. Needless to say they were sad to see me go but wished I would leave over and over again because the cakes were THAT good. I have always liked cheesecake but have not had better in my 33 years on this planet than Reuschelle's. These cakes have ruined all other cheesecakes for me. I can never be fully satisfied unless it is Reuschelle's. Do yourself the best/worst favor and ruin all other cheesecakes for yourself by ordering one. You will not be disappointed. read more

So happy I found Reuschelle's Cheesecakes on Yelp! My husband's favorite dessert is cheesecake so I wanted to surprise him with a really good one for his birthday. Reuschelle's came up on my Yelp search and after reading all the awesome reviews I decided to order. Ordering process couldn't have been easier, only hard part was picking a flavor! I decided to go with the White Chocolate Raspberry Chocolate Chip (gluten free) and I'm so glad I did. My husband and everyone else that had a piece loved it. It tasted so fresh and delicious! A neighbor gave me and my family the cheesecake sampler as a gift for the holidays. The sampler included - plain, chocolate chip and raspberry, marble, and banana rum. Hands down this has to be some of the best cheesecakes I have ever eaten! Some how made to be light, yet creamy, with perfect firmness. I must admit I do have some pretty high cheesecake standards and delivery from New York is not an option for me, but this is pretty close to the top my my cheesecake favorite list. I'm a now a big fan. The chocolate chip and banana rum had to be my favorite of the mix but you can never go wrong with the original. read more

This was my first time ordering from Victor and I would definitely order again. The classic cheesecake I ordered was amazing. Not only did Victor accommodate a late request with some changes to the delivery, he also kindly surprised us by decorating the 7" cheesecake I ordered for my husband's 40th birthday! For weeks, I walked by "Reuschelle's Cheesecakes" stand at the Saturday farmers market in the parking lot at the Castro Valley BART station. There was always a table, a blackboard advertising 4 different kinds of cheesecake, and a friendly looking guy sitting patiently behind the table. That seemed to be it. I kept thinking, "What, does he take orders and then deliver them or something? I don't get it." I kept meaning to stop by on my standard route from the "coffee lady" to the " pastry people" to the "fish folks," the "nice produce family," and the fruit stand. But I never did . . . until I did. Oh my. It turns out there's also a cooler packed with that week's cheesecakes behind the table. They are individual serving size. The first time I bought two to try for my husband and me. I think it was a caramel apple one and a strawberry shortcake one. Or it could have been blueberry, or the to-die-for mocha one, or the key lime...I don't remember now, but OMG, there isn't a single one we haven't liked. And I understand there are lots and lots more that haven't even been on offer since I wised up and asked the "cheesecake guy" what the deal was with the empty table. From two just to try, to four as a weekly standard, to seriously considering buying a few extras as there is a rumor they freeze well. And if there is ever a time again when I can throw a party, I'm pretty sure there will be Reuschelle's Cheesecakes for all. read more

After YEARS of being bookmarked, I finally tried out Reuschelle's Cheesecakes. For my first order, I had the sampler and choose original, blueberry, caramel apple, and mocha. I tried the original first to gauge the standard first, and was blown away, it was super indulgent! As I tried the other flavors, it just got better. Of the four cheesecakes, I liked the purity of the original, you can taste the true essence of what a real cheesecake is supposed to taste like! Not to say I wouldn't order their other flavors, I intended to! Also, cheesecake delivery?!? Can it get any better? Victor was super quick to respond to my emails and was delighted to meet him as he delivered my order, not to mention his ETA was right on time! I intend to order from Reuschelle's to fix my cheesecake cravings, and I crave it quite frequently! #BayAreasBestCheesecake read more

On a recent trip to the East Coast our daughter fell in love with Cheesecake so low and behold it was her birthday wish to have a cheesecake cake. Not only did Reuschelle's create a beautiful and incredibly delicious cheesecake, they were kind enough to deliver it... on a Saturday ...in the pouring rain. My husband and I agree, this is literally the BEST cheesecake we have ever had!! We discovered this gem at the Castro Valley Farmer's Market over the weekend and tried their ube flavor. It was so amazing we will now make it a point to be back every Saturday! Reuschelle's is exactly what our farmer's market needed and if you haven't gotten out already please do! I have been ordering cheesecakes from Victor for years now. I know, this is a very late post! I'm so happy I discovered Reuschelle's Cheesecakes. Let me tell you...they taste amazing! They are so fresh and creamy. I usually can't eat more than a slice, but not with this cheesecake! I always want more. My favorites are original, strawberry, and white chocolate raspberry. This is what a cheesecake should taste like. I have celiac disease and I have not had a slice of cheesecake in years. We just moved up to the area and bought two cheesecakes as a post-moving-in treat. We ordered a strawberry and a caramel apple cheesecake, and... dear Lord. I don't want to admit how much I've had in the last two days. They're everything you want in a cheesecake. I'm just planning on working my way through all the flavors they make. And hitting the gym some more. Because I'm not sure how much the appropriate amount of cheesecake is, but... ah, it's cheesecake. The appropriate amount is always "more." read more

Incredible! Four perfect mini cheesecakes DELIVERED ON CHRISTMAS EVE (!!!) were the perfect capper for a small holiday birthday celebration I was lucky to attend. We sampled the original, strawberry, blueberry, and mocha, each more delicious than the last. (Okay, the mocha was my fave.) Extremely high quality and service for such a low price. Don't hesitate. We live in Los Angeles. Reuschelle's is in Oakland. There's a lot of good cheesecake in L.A., but we order from Reuschelle's. You will not believe how good this MF cheesecake is. With so many flavors to choose from, I ended up getting the four 3" samplers - two regular flavors and two holiday flavors. They did not disappoint! I ordered only a couple days before I needed them and he was able to accommodate! He's great at responding to email and keeping you up to date on delivery time. And he delivers it to your door! Truly the best cheesecakes I've ever had! My mom normally doesn't like cheesecake and she ate some of every flavor I got- they are that good! I bought 10 of the mini Blueberry flavor to bring to my dog's vet in honor of my senior dog's (named Blueberry) one year adoption day. They were a huge hit in the office. I'm really happy I was able to order here! I had about a week before I needed it, so I was within the 4 day order timeframe. Ordering online was super easy and you can choose your drop off time. I called the day before to confirm and he already knew which order I was talking about and that everything was on track. He delivered it right on time to my house. The cheesecake travelled well on my way to work. Finally, we got to eat and it was delicious! Topped with tons of strawberries and clear evidence of strawberries in the cheesecake. Heard a story featuring Reuschelle's Cheesecakes on NPR and was intrigued. I needed to deliver a surprise sweet treat to a friend in the East Bay so I placed an order for a strawberry cheesecake online. It has been a couple of times now that I have ordered cheesecakes from Victor, all I have to say is that these are one of the best cheesecakes I have had! I have had a great experience with Victor, he is responsive and works with your requests. As far as flavor, all of them are amazing! Victors cheesecakes are amazing! I got a small 3" one for 7 dollars plus delivery so it was 10 dollars. WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY! If you love or want to try cheesecake get one from him! I got the raspberry white chocolate chip with Oreo crust! BOMB.COM. AND he brought it to me at 9 in the morning! I couldn't go it any later so I'm glad he accommodates :). Victor is the man. That's pretty much it, but I'm going to go on for my own sake. Victor is now my family's go to guy for cheesecake. And guess what? He DELIVERS! When I need to celebrate (pretty much everyday), I call up Victor and ask for a cheesecake for any occasion and he whips up something special. I've had so many different flavors from Victor's Reuchelle's and none of them disappoint. The cake is always thick and solid, the crust is crumbly delicious. Totally worth every penny. Tried their cheesecakes and I am not a big fan of cheesecake to begin with but my wife was very persistent about trying this place out. The cheesecakes are really moist and the flavor is like no other I've had. We tried a sampler pack which included the apple caramel, strawberry shortcake, original and, raspberry while chocolate. It does take a couple of days to get your order so order with lead time and just email the shop on what and when you want it to be delivered. Great experience! read more

Loved the Frosted Flakes on top of the drink. The flan on top was good as well. I didn't care too much about the boba inside as it was super chewy and took awhile to chew. Overall, not a bad drink. While I was dining in, another customer came in and waited several minutes for someone to help them. No employee was at the counter. The customer literally had to try to get someone's attention in the kitchen. As an improvement, I think it would be helpful for one of the employees to be at the counter or at least keep checking now and then for customers. The place didn't close for another hour, so I can't see why they would need to start cleaning so early.

For our entrees, we ordered the Argentinian Skirt Steak accompanied with Frites, Sautéed Greens, Fries and Chimichurri Sauce -- and the Mezcal Glazed King Salmon with Cashew Relish, Purple Potato Puree (so interesting!), Shaved Brussels Sprouts, and Chipotle Butter Sauce. Food was fantastic -- straight to the point and with boldness from the Latin influence. The ambiance aims for a higher end dining experience, and there is a full bar with additional seating. Must be a local favorite for Happy Hour and dinner. Jonathan was our server -- shout out to him for his efficiency, attentiveness, and professionalism. The short ribs were my favorite though, seasoned well and the cilantro mashed potatoes it came with were EVERYTHING. I'd come back for a side of those alone. The pasta was a little dry and could have used more sauce, which is why I knocked them down a star. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes!

I got 2 plain and 2 filled churros and was quoted $20. When I checked my card statement, they charged me more without telling me about taxes or card fees. The churros themselves were oily and not crunchy. They also had extremely light cinnamon sugar coating so they didn't taste great. The filling also wasn't anything special, it was fairly plain and artificial. Very unfortunate for the high price.

When I went in, there was a graduation cake I wanted, but I was told they couldn't sell it because they were out of cake boxes. A huge shoutout to Erin, Ankit, and the rest of the team for going above and beyond to make it happen. The cake was still $79.99, but when you have no other options and people genuinely care to help, it is completely worth it. They wrote a graduation congratulatory message on the cake, secured it carefully with tape, found a large box to safely transport it, and even helped carry it out to my car. Most importantly, the cake was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you so much to Erin, Ankit, and the entire team for taking the extra time and effort to make this happen. I truly appreciated your kindness and willingness to help, even without the proper cake box available.

We also tried the pistachio ice cream and were not a fan, we couldn't taste the pistachio and it tasted artificial. The mango was the clear winner. Would like to come back and try their boba and the Dubai ice cream.

They're usually very quick with online orders. We usually get either the lychee on lychee, peach oolong or the guava sunset. As mentioned, their drinks lean on the sweeter side even at 50% so if you want something more light definitely opt for 25% sweetness and less ice. For fruitier drinks I usually opt for crystal boba but honey boba works too if you want a chewier texture. Overall can't wait to be back and highly recommend.

Wow. Insanely good cheesecake. I ordered the 9" ube cheesecake for my sister's birthday, and it was a hit! The cheesecake itself is rich. I honestly do not understand how this cheesecake could be this rich. it's got a thin crumbly crust (graham crackers?) on the bottom which balances out the richness with just the smallest amount of crunch. Every bite was amazing. Cake aside, Victor is also a standup person; had some last minute delivery changes and he was more than flexible to make sure that delivery could go through.
