Hello: This review represents two dining sessions at Revel and Rye Bar and Restaurant in New York City. First, I would like to mention that Adrian and Kerry were wonderful host and hostesses. Very personable and actually "read' our reservation notes! One of the two times we dined, we ordered a Margherita pizza for $25 "to go". See photo. The pizza was large enough to serve two people. The crust was nice.....actually surprising due to the humidity in the City that day, but as you can see from the photo, the pizza's cheese and basil were very sparse. The menu indicates it is "fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil". I did not detect "fresh mozzarella" on the pizza and there was not any "tomato" on the pizza. Tomato sauce, yes, but not "tomato". Typically when you order a Margherita pizza there are slices of mozzarella on the pizza, not small bits. Because of this, the pizza tasted more crust with tomato sauce on it rather than the "key" ingredients. Because we got it "to go" there was no way to ask for a re-do of the pizza from staff. I would give this pizza a 3.0 rating out of five. The second time we dined, I had the chicken orzo soup and my husband had the rock shrimp tacos. The rock shrimp tacos were a good value for the money. They are $26, but you get three of them, loaded with ingredients, but they were very messy to eat!! My husband rated them a 3.5 rating out of five for flavor. One expects to be able to pick up a taco and enjoy it, but the ingredients in these precluded him from being able to do that. When he picked up the taco everything fell out onto the plate. They had to be eaten with a fork and knife. The chicken orzo soup I would give a 2.5 rating. The bowl was mostly all broth, two small pieces of chicken and very little orzo. Although it was served with crackers and the overall flavor of the broth was good, the soup ingredients were lacking. The photo shows you it was all broth as well. For $15 for a bowl of soup, I expected more. Summary: the food averaged a 3.0 out of five overall, but due to Adrian and Kerry's friendly attitude and kindness, I am giving the experience a 4.0 rating. read more

Don't be charging me $18 for a hot fudge sundae with chocolate sauce. The waiter corrected me when I said hot fudge, which was good. However it is listed on the menu as such. Breakfast buffet here is above average and of similar quality of other $50 breakfasts in an upscale hotel. Beautiful venue but off somehow. The tables surrounding us seemed to not be finishing their plates. Always a bad sign. read more

This was the first time we decided to join in on their daily brunch. Our family of four arrived at around 10AM. My daughter ordered off the menu and the rest of us ordered the buffet. The price is $47 per person. Which we figured for the location that we're in. We were not impressed with the choices. The eggs were overcooked and some hard. The sausages were not good. As for the toasters both of them hardly worked. We and others had to toast more then once and still not good. Very old. As for the service I had to flag someone down to remove our old plates. Tables were too full. Not enough room with square plates and water cups, coffee cups etc. Just not impressed and won't be eating here again. read more

Excellent cocktails and a great little escape from Times Square madness. It's on the 8th floor of the Marriott Marquis but open to the public, which is very useful if you're waiting for people after a Broadway show and don't want to stand around with Spider-Man and Elmo. There was plenty of room at and around the bar, and the service was fantastic. I had a pisco specialty cocktail that was fruity but balanced, refreshing, and strong. My brother had a Paper Plane, and they asked what bourbon he wanted. It's a great spot for a real drink, a comfortable wait, or a quick break from chaos. read more

Revel and Rye bar is located inside of the New York Marriott Marquis hotel. We ate dinner here once after a long day of walking and just wanting to not have to walk anymore. Then we had breakfast here every morning at their buffet. Don't be like us and eat dinner in your hotel because you're tired. There are many other places that are way better. Don't get me wrong. It's a decent place to grab a bite to eat, but if you're in New York, you wanna eat at the amazing places. The breakfast buffet is another story. For $47 it's a decent choice. They had all of the usual suspects like sausage, bacon, eggs, waffles, but they also had some exciting choices as well. There was quiche there were a couple kinds of egg bites for our protein forward diabetic friends. They were also some Brazilian looking breakfast dishes that I apologize. I did not get the name of, but they also looked protein forward with vegetables. They also had a pretty large variety of bagels, breads, croissants, and a couple of pastries. Make sure to get there early or you'll be standing in line a while because it's pretty popular. read more

Visited while staying at the Marriott Marquis two separate times. The first time was during lunch when I order food to go. I approached the counter and ordered a few items from the host. She was polite and answered any questions that I had. We ordered spicy tenders, which were more sweet than spicy, and a turkey club sandwich with fries. Both were good but not great. Bread was a bit tough but was a nice serving size. The second visit was in the evening for the bar and the outdoor terrace. We enjoyed a few beers and cocktails which were all very good. However the service was rather slow. When the bartenders did provide service they were polite but I did spend a significant amount of time waiting for drinks. Overall the experience was ok and would visit out of convenience while staying at the hotel. But to come just out of the blue which various options in the city? We'd likely pass. read more

Overall (A-) It's a restaurant inside the Marriot Time Square. Dined there a few times since we had a $40 daily food credits and had a terrible experience on the 3rd night which was saved by the manager. Value (B) Times Square Marriot restaurant- it's not super crazy expensive but it's not close to being a reasonable value either. You're paying for the location. Food (B+) It is actually not bad. Had a burger the first night, kids got pasta the second night and pizza the third night. They also got dessert. I was not expecting much and the food exceed my expectations. The food we got was all between B to A- quality. You won't send anything back but you won't crave anything and want to order it again Service (B+) This is a tough one since I received B+ service during my first two lights and terrible service the 3rd. During the first night it was super confusing with the hand offs. Had one person check me in, another direct me to the hostesses, another walk me to my table, another get me water, another take my order, another bring me my food. The manager was super nice and gave me some recommendations and I guess my waiter was nice also. Food didn't take to long to get out Second night - was down with my family and the whole seating process was confusing. The waiter was a bit slow and inattentive but nothing I would complain about. Third night started out as a mess. We got seated but our waiter took forever to get to us. He actually made eye contact a few times and still didn't come over. He actually waited on a few tables that were seated after us. I finally waived another waiter down to get our waiters attention. After he was done making small talk with the other waiters he made his way over. I was pretty upset at this point and let him know. Of course he did not apologize and had an attitude. Was a completely rude and disrespectful and that is when I asked to speak to the manager. I was visibly upset with the terrible service received and she did her best to not escalate things. At first I thought she was giving me lip service to pacify me. But she ended up comping the meal and proving the family free deserts. She was super apologetic and attempted to her best to appease the situation. Which she did. Other staff members came by or looked over smiling in a positive way. The impression I got was that this waiter was bad news and they didn't like him and were grateful a customer finally complained about him. The Marriot also comped our destination fees for that remainder of the stay. Note - although the Manager said she would comp the rest of the meals for our stay we did not go there again. The waiter was brown so if you are brown, black or yellow who have been warned. Expect slow service. This is not due to the management team but the waitstaff. read more

Came here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was very well done. The buffet was huge and very well presented and spaced out. The employees were very friendly. Santa Claus was fantastic, and really went out of his way to take pictures with all the kids. The turkey and stuffing in particular was quite delicious. The DJ was playing great remixes of songs from the 80s and 90s. She knew her audience. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with our experience at this restaurant while trying to celebrate my 54th birthday. Unfortunately, what should have been a special afternoon turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. The restaurant seated a group of unattended children directly next to our table, while their parents were seated across the restaurant nowhere nearby supervising them. The children were loud, climbing and jumping on the seats, and disruptive throughout our meal. Even more disappointing, the parents seemed completely unconcerned, and the restaurant staff did little to address the situation. We understand children will be children, but there is an expectation of basic consideration and proper seating arrangements -- especially when guests are clearly trying to enjoy a celebratory lunch. The lack of attention from both the parents and management significantly impacted our evening. Sadly, this experience left a very negative impression and took away from what was supposed to be a memorable birthday celebration. Also as we were seated a fake nail fell from above and landed on my guest's lap. This was rather unexpected and repulsive. read more

Our stay at the Marriott Marquis required a resort fee that included a daily $40 food and beverage credit so we used it up here before we checked out. Can't really buy much for $40 so we opted to try the mussels with fries. Somewhat of a strange combination but the total comes out to just under $40 after tax and gratuity. It wasn't very busy so we were seated immediately. The mussels and fries came out pretty quickly and our server refilled our water several times. Overall fries were nice and crispy. I enjoyed it with the ketchup that I actually needed them to bring more of. The mussels were tiny but there was a decent sized plate of them...although mostly shell. I don't think the flavor of the broth was rich enough, and I wished there was some crusty bread to go with it...but it was good enough that I finished everything. read more

Not a five star restaurant but better than a three. The food is not bad and I wasn't expecting outstanding cuisine. This is more for a convenient location to dine while staying at the Marriot in between visits exploring the city. Prices are to be expected. Not a bad selection to choose from. We came for a late lunch so it wasn't too busy. That made service fairly quick. As it got later the tables were filling up and getting the check took some scanning of the restaurant for our server and finally eye contact. Lol. read more

We had the most amazing steak and fries but the hotel shoves everyone into a tiny square for lunch with Zero view of Times Square. So I had to self serve myself in order to enjoy a slight view of Times Square. We recommend the steak MR and it was so good we were about to order a second one for lunch. It is a shame this property with an outstanding view has guest sitting in the back for lunch looking at walls. I wonder how much service charge will apply since I have to carry my own food and drinks and walk over to pay? read more

We popped in for a nightcap after having dinner in town. We were seated in an area that was being cared for by Kervin. The service was outstanding and Kervin took time to give us some information with some of the questions we had. There was a delay with our order, he paid attention to detail, and came back to check in on us, knowing that we were waiting for the snack to arrive before drinking our wine. The attention to detail was impeccable, it's been a while. I've seen good service with someone pay attention to their clients table. Great customer support and the manager came by to apologize for the delay although we're on vacation so we didn't really hold it on them given how busy the hotel is. I would definitely come back here again, I'll actually stop by tomorrow for another drink. Give the Customer Services on and the ambience is nice. Great job Kervin! read more

Let me tell you my server Habib was on it. We had to call the supervisor over to let him know how great the service was. The food was fresh and the drinks were spot on. I had avery special birthday. The ambiance was beautiful and well lit. 10/10 will do again. read more

We're staying at the hotel (Marriott Marquis) so we decided to stop here after being out a short time and what a disappointment. We only ordered the cheese platter and the spinach and artichoke dip, both were extremely disappointing. I will say the service provided by Ruth was good to start but after sensing we were not pleased, she walked away and didn't return. We had to request her through another server. The 2 simple items we ordered were overly salty and two of the three cheeses on the platter were extremely hard. The jam on the platter was flavorful but the overall platter was lacking A LOT which is quite disappointing because that's one of our things on vacay, we share a charcuterie board at the end of the night. I think my sisters are willing to come back to try other items but ehhh, I don't have to rerun but will let you know if I do. read more

Was planning to go to Juniors for Lunch before attending Broadway show. It was going to be a 25-30 minute wait and with a long line, we did not want to be late to the show. We opted for a Revel and Rye restaurant at the New York Marriott Marquis. As we walked in the security guard said there was a restaurant located on the 8th floor. We took the elevator up. We just followed a group of flight attendants into elevator and it stopped on the 8th floor. There were no buttons on the elevator. Staff at hotel said must use touch screen pad and click which floor. Was clueless thought you had to have a hotel keycard to get to any of the floors. We walked around the 8th floor. Lots of activity on the floor. We found Revel and Rye and decided to have lunch there prior to the matinee show. Hostess sat us down. It took a while for waiter to come by. He was cordial and we gave him our orders. He really did not go into depth about the specials or the dishes. We ordered two Pan Seared Salmon. The salmon was not fully cooked- more like medium and rare in the middle. We ate it and it was good. Had Brussel sprouts with some puree. Thought it was tad costly for $34 dollars felt it was missing something. Dining at the hotel is going to cost you. Had to flag down servers for water refills. Took a while to get the check and the place was not busy. Would I come back again. Maybe for the ambiance and a drink but dining here I have had better. read more

It's a shame the hotel basically makes you dine here because of the $40 a day destination fee. The restaurant didn't let us order at the host table for take out because the kitchen is understaffed and can't accommodate a not even full crowd of people. They made us get seated in the restaurant just to order take out at the table... the food wasn't even great either, not at all worth the 40 minute wait. Avoid at all costs! read more

I will admit I had a chicken on a stick from a street vendor before I came to eat here. This place was nice clearly somewhere you go for the ambiance and not necessarily the food. It is expensive. The waiter was kind but not very attentive not in a rude way but simply because she didn't need to be she took our order someone else brought the drinks and different person brought the food. The pizza was good and large enough to share but we both had already eaten. I was a little disappointed they advertised as a roof top bar. There is no roof top here. They also were supposed to have themed drinks for the show and that didn't really happen either. The aesthetic was nice very New York but I wouldn't need to experience this again. read more

This was the only restaurant open in our hotel, as the others were closed for renovations. The restaurant is nice, the ambiance is good and the service was always wonderful. The food is okay. Nothing great, especially for the prices. We went once for dinner and once for appetizers and drinks. They are on the upper scale in price point, and overall, I think we both agreed the food just wasn't worth it. If you're staying here, it's a nice place to sit and have a drink (beware a cocktail is $22 and a beer is $10) but overall we had wished the other restaurants were open. read more

As the weather is starting to get chilly again, I figured I should post some of the things that I've never had a chance to post previously... I still have the pictures and still have the memories - why not? Revel and Rye was swanky! We started off a bit Rocky - with the host but the server turned the situation around and was stellar!! The view was beautiful looking out over Times Square... We enjoyed Great food, great drinks and great service! We had the Fig salad for appetizer which was sweet and earthy. According to babe the steak and fries were tender and juicy ! Babe's mom and I both had scallops and cauliflower! The scallops were fresh and tender and the sauce they drizzled over the dish set it off! The cauliflower had a nice little char on it which brought the dish together! Lastly the drinks were smooth and classy! Initially we were headed to The View, but passed this on the way, and decided to try it out.. So glad we did ! First officially day in NY, and either rain, we didn't want to venture out to much until we ate something at the hotel. We missed the breakfast, so we ended up eating lunch. We were sat right away, lots of seating, and although busy, greeted promptly. We ordered the kids cheese pizza, hummus, grilled cheese and cheeseburger. My son enjoyed his cheese pizza, it comes with a side order, he chose the fruit and it was overall worth it, for a kids meal. Hummus lacked flavor, served and various vegetables. Shared a grilled cheese with my daughter. It is served with tomato soup. Super flavorful, the tomato soup was just what the grilled cheese needed. The burger was so bland and expensive, served with fries, nothing special. Husband also a Bloody Mary, he wasn't impressed. Server never checked on us, after food arrived. Definitely convenient to have a restaurant in the hotel, specially on a rainy day. But not worth the price. read more

Very disappointing experience for the price of the food. Literally almost walked a ticket for the first time in my life because the waiter totally ignored us and we went for a whole meal without even water. I'd go out to the hotdog stand outside to avoid the frustration of this experience. Table mates literally left to go find a drink fro The lobby because we couldn't get served. It was maddening.
