I am a customer, and this review is based on my personal experience. I brought my vehicle in for service, and the technician who worked on it was Charles Beall. After the repair, I experienced a serious safety failure. When I later took the car to another shop, they inspected the work and informed me that the brake lines were improperly assembled and had too many fittings, making them unsafe. Those fittings failed, and the brake lines came apart. At the time this happened, my son was in the car with me, and we were extremely lucky that the situation did not result in serious injury or worse. This was not a minor issue -- it was a life-threatening safety failure. This review is not about personal attacks or fake reviews. It is about accountability. Place is a rip off... Got quoted to replace a wheel hub assembly (1). knew by looking online how much it SHOULD cost which ranged from $375-$550. I was Ok with that... Brought the car to be diagnosed, which I didn't really need to be since I knew the problem. They quoted me $980. A $400 part that goes for $150-200 online and 3 HOURS OF LABOR!! Revell Service Center was a huge disappointment and a RIPOFF for many reasons. They did not provide pre-service quotes, they performed unauthorized services, and were extremely overpriced on labor and parts on our 2013 Mini Cooper (Repair Order 124425 on 10/30/2023) Examples: Replaced 4 Spark Plugs. $394.96. Labor $255, Parts $139.96. This is $98.74 per installed spark plug for a 15 minute job. I can buy 4 spark plugs for $54 at Advanced Auto. Valve Cover Gasket - Charged $92.56 for Fel-Pro Gasket Part# VS507763R I can buy at Advanced Auto for $32.00. Timing Chain Guide - Charged $87.99 for Part# 11317577631 that I can buy just about anywhere for $12-14. Check Drivability (test drive): $170. Shop Supplies $39.99. Unauthorized Services - They did this without authorization: Cleaned and Adjusted Brakes and Calipers $255. Replaced Valve Cover Gasket and Timing Chain Guide $435.55 Total Unauthorized Services $690.55. Todd never gave any quotes prior to doing the work. Todd refused to remove the charges for the unauthorized services and hung up the phone on me. I have no problem paying a fair price for services and parts, but this was such a rip off, that I had to go out of my way to let others know to be extremely careful when dealing with this company, or to avoid them altogether. Looking at previous reviews, it appears that what I experienced was their standard operating procedures. read more

I'm not super knowledgeable about cars or how to do things on my own, so I would be an easy mark to be taken advantage of at an auto shop. That said, I haven't ever felt that way when I've taken my Toyota here. Aaron and his team consistently provide clear and concise information on what exactly is the root of the problem and actively try to not hurt my wallet while also providing the best service possible. It might not be the cheapest option in the area, but I've never felt cheated -- this team is communicative, reliable, and sets very realistic expectations as far as timetables and cost. As an owner of a car that uses synthetic oil, I am constantly getting overcharged to get a simple oil change. Not to mention other places like Jiffy Lube will be intrusive and do things to my car I did not ask them to. Thankfully Revell gets the job done, they're knowledgeable about the automotive industry, they won't upsell you anything and are extremely friendly! Each time I've gone I was in and out without any issue! They're right behind the Wawa so it can be easily missed but this little gem is one of the best local auto shops I've ever had the pleasure to do business with!! As convenient as the location was for me, they did poor work both times I went and charged ridiculous prices. The first was an AC recharge. $250 just for them to not replace my valve caps and lose all the freon in three months (I know there is no leak anywhere else in the system because I checked with UV dye). The second repair was a muffler/end of the exhaust system. $800 and I had to return four times because the muffler was rattling when I drove. To this day, still rattles because I wasn't going to go back a fifth time for them to not fix it. read more

I brought my wife's Chevy Sonic in for overheating problem because my usual mechanic was booked up for weeks. The radiator fan was not coming on. When Revell called they quoted a litany of problems/parts that needed to be changed out -- amounting to a $1,800 estimate, with indications it could go higher. Since it was our only mode of transportation at the moment and I was too busy at work to diagnose/repair myself, I reluctantly (and stupidly) agreed. A few hours later, I had second thoughts and called back to see if they'd started the work. The answer was yes and I was patched through to the mechanic who claimed he had the coolant system completely disassembled. When I quizzed him as about the cost of specific parts he was changing, he told me I was looking at the wrong parts (I wasn't) and would only concede that his parts included a 30% mark up because they were guaranteed by the shop for 2 years. Even with such a markup and the cost of top-dollar labor, there was no way this repair could come close to the quoted price. My tone was firm, but the conversation was civil (no swear words). Still, the mechanic announced that he was going to put it back and charge me $500 and that I could take it where I wanted. He then hung up. LONG STORY SHORT: The whole problem was a melted end of the fan wiring harness, which I replaced myself for -- wait for it -- $14. Lesson learned: stick with the mechanic you know, even if it means waiting. The wait probably means they are good. read more

My wife and I both work long hours and depend on our cars. It's important that the right maintenance be done in a timely and reliable manner. So when I picked up our car after an oil change and tire rotation - both of which were sorely needed - I was disappointed to discover that the tires hadn't been rotated (I had chalk marked them, and one is different anyway than the other three). Perhaps he just forgot? When I asked, the enormous guy behind the counter assured me that they had been, like a character from some ridiculous movie. What to do, but drive away angry? If he can't be depended upon to do so simple and straightforward a task honestly, on what can one depend here? Did he use the correct motor oil, or whatever he had on hand? The correct filter, or one he had laying around that happened to fit? I can't trust somebody who doesn't address himself to the details, especially when the safety of my family and property are at risk. read more

After about 12 visits IMO This place is to be avoided. As a former auto shop owner I have a good idea when a place is trying to push unneeded repairs, and based on this I've avoided this place for the past two years even though I live nearby. Today I called to see if they could get my locking lug nuts off (lost the key) and was told it was really hard to remove, $150, and since its such a big job it would take hours. So I Youtubed it and it takes 2 minutes per wheel - IF you know what you're doing : ) So $150 for 10 minutes work, I will continue to avoid Revell service center and of course pass along the good word to everyone I can. To the owner or manager who has tried to respond to reviews on here by claiming the mechanic "couldn't see" the brakes that he assumed were metal to metal - Shame on you, the mechanic, and the owner for all of the ( it's either dishonesty or ineptitude) that you are dishing out to the public. As a former shop owner I have seen the effects of this, it makes people distrust ALL mechanics and makes car repair a very unpleasant experience. BEWARE! Revell Service Center at 313 Buschs Frontage Rd is a price gouging dishonest ripoff that preys on motorists with car problems on Route 50 near Annapolis. Go anywhere else if your car can make it safely to a car service place... NOT HERE! EVER!! I blew a tire yards from them..at first felt lucky to be so close ..then realized I wasn't. Manager tried to sell me two tires..when I asked why I would want that.."because they are bald". Try again idiot..new car, only 10k miles on it. Tires are barely dirty, definitely not BALD! Took an hour to get replacement tire..because it had to come from Annapolis. You are located in Annapolis! When I asked why so long..said traffic. OK....When I asked why a tire would cost me $179..$190 with tax..he said very few places had this tire. Really? Every time I look, the road is blanketed with Priuses..hardly a rarity! Then they accused me of trying to run out on the bill when I put my dog in my car (before paying) and rolled up the windows so she wouldn't jump out. No chumps, I am honorable..but I can see how that is your view of the world. when I did pay, and told him i thought $190 was ridiculous for a single tire..he suggested that maybe he shouldn't have helped me or provided the service. Went in for a tire patch on my rear tire. Without permission, they went under the hood, replaced a simple part on my battery tie-down and charged an extra $92 ($117 total) without a written estimate or any kind of pre-approval. Then they wouldn't release the vehicle until it was paid for. That's fraud and I'm going to Maryland Consumer Protection and the BBB. They are LIFESAVERS! My boyfriend were on our way back home to Boston when our car broke down at the gas station and by pure luck they were right there behind the store. The gentleman came over and said the battery & alternator were dead. Luckily, they were able to get the parts the next day and install them first thing in the morning. I wrote on the information sheet for work to be done, please check my control arm. The alignment is off and the truck is shifting back n forth while driving. Sterring is not stable. I was told they could not look at it until I get a front end alignment n 2 tires. I was already aware of needing an alignment as i stated in writing on the work order n i told them my front tires were bad. They still charged me the whole charge of $70.00 without checking nothing on my truck. They even said they couldnt check the control arm until i replace the tires n alignment. The owner said he would deduct the $70.00 from an alignment which he wanted to charge me $200.00 for an alignment. I feel violated and taken advantage of. I will never go there again. They have overcharged me in the past and I will be reporting this to the better business bureau. They are arrogant and dishonest. read more

Because it's close to my house, I've been going to Revell since 2014 or so for oil changes, which truly are a good deal and are completed quickly. However I'm suspicious of the number of times they've told me I needed extra work after the oil change and that it would very dangerous to drive off without getting it done. I realize that as a young woman who comes in alone I come across as a particularly easy target. I'm hoping other reviewers can verify or reject my hypothesis that Revell tells car owners extra work needs to be done, often to the tune of $400+. I strongly believe they ripped me off on changing my brake pads. I believed them when they said the pads had worn thin because I could feel it a little when I was braking. But they changed the pads on both axels and I'm not sure that was necessary. Another time they told me I needed the timing belt replaced. From what I understand, the mechanic must open up a cover to see the timing belt. That was done without my permission (if it was done at all - they have just told me that assuming I wouldn't know how to check). Don't let them hard sell you. Get a second opinion if you can. read more

I went to Revell Service yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how new head guy Erin handled me and other customers that were there. I had a simple job of changing tires to new rims. Edit - 10/10/2014: After checking my credit card for the refund that was promised, I realized that the representative didn't provide the refund as promised. Basically, I was charged $62.50 for a brake inspection (which they've provided other customer's for free). After declining the up-sell for tires, battery replacement, and removal of a piece of plastic (which they said they'd do for only a small additional fee...) they didn't follow through on the promise to refund the charge that their own overnight drop envelope says they won't issue, until first contacting the car owner. Guess I'll just take it up with the credit card company at this point. Edit - 10/9/2014: After discussing the brake check issue with the manager, we reached a good resolution. ________________ Thought I found a great mechanic and service center (see review directly below). Dropped off the car in the evening for an oil change and brake check. The drop off form indicated that no work would be performed until I was called with a quote for the work requested. Received the call this morning and was told that the oil change cost $23.50 and that the brake check was a WHOPPING $62.50. The service center has historically performed brake checks for free for other customers (I've heard them do it when I was in the waiting room). This will be the last time I go to Revell. read more

I've always had a good experience getting my oil changed here. Any other recommendations have made me very nervous due to an inherent distrust of car mechanics. This admitted bias may be unfair, but there it is. I'll be getting a second opinion on my check engine light, but will continue to happily go to Revell for quick, inexpensive oil changes. read more

Revell Service Center - Great place ! - Auto Repair Near Me - Annapolis, Maryland

¸¸I'm a normal business guy trying to make it jus like everyone else out here. I was at a job in Annapolis on my way home from working when my truck all the sudden came grinding to a stop. I noticed that since it happened at Wawa right next to Revell Service Center that I would take it over to get a diagnosis at least to know what was going on. When I pulled up the service guys seemed cool and said pull on in and we will take a look to see whats going on. Well most diagnosis's are free or free estimates to see whats needed to do the work before getting into charging someone money for anything. After taking off 5 lug nuts and using a flashlight to examine my wheel finally the boss chimes in you cannot be in the garage you have to come into the lobby which is normal so I agreed. After about 10 min the owner knew I was a bit younger and pretty much stranded across the bridge and most people don't wanna pay to get their vehicle towed all the way across the bay to delaware. He proceeds to tell me to fix my wheel its gunna cost my 800$ to 1000$ and also says my caliber broke my router is worn and I need ball joints which will run me another 700$ to 800$ so now where looking at 1700$ to 1800$ for me to fix my 2007 chevy 1500 with one tire issue and a grinding sound lol. The boss who I'm assuming owes the place was a complete Asshole to me, not polite very demanding and just a nasty attitude. He acted like he was better then every other place that fixes vehicles. So.......... I decide to call my uncle who's a master mechanic and A.E.C. certified tech and he told me immediately call revell and have them get my damn truck out of the bay and that they are trying to screw me royally he said I could damn near get a new truck for what hes charging me to fix such a small issue so I told them do not touch my truck put the wheel back on and get it out of their garage and he still proceeded to charge me 150$ brake check fee which is ridiculous again. Come to find out all my truck needed was a 5$ master bolt for the caliper bracket which had broken off causing the initial grinding noise there was nothing wrong with the rotor the caliper none if that stuff he said initially and it was checked by a certified tech and it was literally just a bolt. This place is total bullshit he tried to take advantage of me and worst of all during a Pandemic and a time of slow work because of all the virus precautions we are all taking. You would think he would try to help instead of screw me. I dont recommend this place to no one ever unless you wanna be screwed or pay 150% markup on regular parts. Not to mention the boss is the biggest asswhole Ive ever had to deal with in a car shop. My experience was terrible and I dont care if my car explodes I would never take it there Id rather the engine blow up and i have to dive out of the drivers door then deal with that asswhole and his attitude. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! NEVER! My wife went in for an oil change and tire rotation. She called while there and said she was told the rear brakes were "metal to metal" and should be repaired. At a cost of around $470. The car has 30K miles on it and we had never heard any brake sounds so I said "no". I took the car to another mechanic for a second opinion. He called me back and said he could not in all honesty, change out my rotors and pads because they still had half their life left. NOTICE THE KEY WORD HERE IS HONESTY! This mechanic said I was about the third person that had come to him after going to Revell for a second opinion and each time they had been give dishonest information from Revell Service Center. This shop emphasizes the old phrase "I'd just like to find an honest mechanic". NEVER USE THEM! read more

My experience started when I had broken down a bit off of the bay bridge with a flat tire. So I called the closest towing place which had been Revell, and asked if they had tires for my vehicle. When the guy responded that they did, I asked if they could tow me to their shop and replace my tire so I could make my way home. The guy immediently told me I should get both front ones done, which I agreed to. It would turn out that when they were putting the first tire on and drove around to test it that according to them the other tire blew in there parking lot. Wether or not that actually happened I do not know nor do I particularly care. That is because my inspection was due in a couple months anyway and I would have failed on that tire regardless. I ended up chatting with the guy mentioning that I lived in PA and was just visiting for the summer. He then mentioned how I should get all four tires replaced and if I wanted he could do the other two another time. I told him that since I wanted to go home and aren't usually around this area I'd pass but thanked him for the advice. After around an hour I was ready to go and left the shop thinking at the very least that they were good people. That had happened a month and a half ago. Taking the advice of the mechanic who had done my car. I took my car to a mechanic in PA to get my two other tires replaced. That was when I found out that Revell had put on the wrong size tires on my car. They had exceeded what was allowed for my brand of car and while they are fairly common tires to have, they would insure I failed inspection as well as mess with my alignment going forward. He recommended I call the place I got the tires from and see what could be done because in his words 'it's obviously a mistake on their part and nobody would give me a hard time about wanting what I paid for'. So I figured I'd call Revell and inform them of the issue, get my tires switched out for correctly sized tires when I could on the following Friday when I'd head back. Unfortunate when I called I ended up talking to the guy who did my car, which I recognized from the sound of his voice. After explaining the situation he told me 'since it was an emergency we needed to get you out so it's okay to put those tires on.' I responded with something along the lines of 'um no, it is not okay for you to put the incorrect sized tires on my car. I had called and specifically asked if you had tires for my car and you had also not even informed me that you were putting the incorrect size tires on my car. Emergency or not, I would have said no and figured out what to do from there.' He ended up telling me to take it in and he would 'see what he could do'. When I responded that I'm actually in PA he quickly said 'oh I remember you, yeah you were talking about how you were visiting the area for the summer'. After realizing who I was he quickly changed his tune from 'let's see what I could do' to 'sorry it was an emergency so it's allowed' leaving me to the conclusion that he didn't view me as a future contributor to his pocket and therefore my service being wrong didn't matter. I called back Monday and upon being transferred to another person then after explaining the issue he mentioned that they do that all the time to get people out of the shop. When I said how that was unacceptable and I want the correct sized tires for my car which I had paid for. He then told me how it would still pass Maryland state inspection, to which my response was that I didn't care about Maryland inspection since I live in PA. He would then tell me 'just ask anybody that does inspection, you'll definitely pass a Maryland inspection. Completely ignoring my response of 'I live in PA and am much more concerned about that inspection, plus I want the correct size tires on my vehicle.' He would them tell me that there's nothing he could do since he's not the owner. Then after I asked to speak with the owner I have been getting flighty responses. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I cannot speak to the skill of mechanics or quality of work overall because I had to leave simply based on the attitude of the girl at the desk. Too many others shops out there to give your money to. I was hoping to have my vehicle safety inspection done on a Saturday so I stopped at a few places near my house with no luck. I pulled the map on my phone and called the closest garage to my location at that time and got Revell on the line. Call 1: The girl on the phone seemed very polite and told me that they do inspections on weekends so I decided to drive to their location. Arrival: Wrong location. The address on Google maps is wrong and the new location is about 9 miles south of this site. Eh...no issues at this point. Call 2: Called back, spoke to the same girl. I asked where they were located and some specific questions about the inspection and she put me on with one of the mechanics. We figured out what I needed and I received directions. During this conversation, I also asked how long the inspection would be (answer: 1hour) and how many people were waiting / how long would I be there overall (answer: no one and about an hour all together). Based on no line and about an hour wait time, I drove to the shop. Arrival: I get to the shop and speak to the girl at the front (~330 lb white female). I am only including this for recognition reasons and not to mistakenly draw negative attention to other white females who may be at the desk. This is the gist of the conversation: Me: Hi, I called about the state inspection. Her: Yes, please fill this out. It'll be about three hours. Me: O, the guy on the phone told me about an hour. Her: It's an hour for the inspection but about three hours wait. Me: Hm, I specifically asked if there was a wait and was told there wasn't. Her: I don't know why they would tell you that ::she heads back to the shop area and I finish the paperwork and she comes back in:: Her: Can I have you keys? ::To this point, I have zero issues and every intention of paying Revell to do my inspection. There is a Wawa next door and I have a book, life is good for a three hour wait so I get up to give her my keys:: Her: *Something along the lines of "no one told you it was an hour" Me: No, the guy on the phone did because I specifically asked the question. ::still no issues for me, I was a happy camper:: Her: No, I was standing right there, he never said that This is where the deal ended and I retrieved my paperwork and left. The girl at the counter was sooo bad, annoying, condescending, cocky and disgusting I had to walk out. I recommend not taking your business here; it's not worth the frustration. read more

Poor customer communication from Revell Service Center when they aren't meeting the delivery expectations they set with the customer. I've used Revell Service Center before and had a good experience, I've even referred people to them. So when I needed work again I decided to give them a shot. I got there and noticed the guy that has helped me in the past was gone. I think there may have been an ownership change but am not sure. They were quick to get my car in and then told me I needed tires. They said it would be an hour to an hour and a half before the tires arrived. Asked if I lived close by and offered me a ride home. Great I accepted the ride and headed home to await their call. Joe was really nice as were the other mechanics that I spoke to. After more than two hours I hadn't heard from them so I gave them a call to see what was going on. The guy who originally helped me said they still didn't have my tires and they should be there any minute and they would get right on it. Something about the delivery truck getting stuck. I said okay a call would have been nice so I could have know what was going on. "Sorry I didn't call you" was the response So an hour more went by and no word from them, I called back and learned my tires still weren't in. I was less then polite with one word choice which was wrong on my end. The person who answered my call just said sorry, I mentioned that a call would have been nice after what I had said the first time. So I went and got my truck back without the work being completed. When I arrived about fifteen minutes later my tires had finally showed up by then it was too late. I understand things happen that may be out of their control but the customer communication is certainly within their control. They did no communicating with me and I ended up making all of the calls to them. The best I got was an "I'm sorry" no other solutions to make it right. Maybe a reduced price or something. A simple call would have been all it took to make the situation right. Revell had set my expectations for the time frame and then did nothing to communicate when their commitment wasn't being met by them. Been happy with their service so far on my two cars. Haven't needed anything major, just oil changes, coolant flush, etc. But they were efficient and quick, and I think they did a good job. read more

After I bought my Traverse I found out it needs the expensive oil during my first oil change. Bummer. Well, second oil change I go to Revell. They put the regular oil in, saying I didn't need the expensive kind. WRONG! After reading the other reviews and with my experience, will not be returning. read more

My Equinox needed a tire patch. Revell Service Center is not my regular trusted shop, but they are near my home. I had them patch the tire and change the oil and lube the chasis. Upon checkout, the receipt showed recommendations to compression check the cooling system for leaks, fix an oil pan that was leaking badly, and needed front pads. The large male manager pointed out these recommended repairs and asked me to authorize them. I suspected fraud for many reasons and took my Equinox to my regular shop, who is honest. He reviewed the recommended repairs and reported "NPF- No Problem Found" for all three Revell Service Station recommended repairs. I will never go back to these liars and thieves. read more

Well, Fool me once.... My wife went there to simply get an oil change....you would think. About a day or so later my wife said she thought something was wrong ,and she smelled exhaust while sitting still in the car. I dismissed it and thought she was being paranoid. Unfortunately a whole week went by and I noticed oil stains on my driveway....!!! I freaked ,popped the hood and found the oil cap had not been put back on last week and the whole engine was covered with oil. I checked the oil and there was none on the dip stick. We took it back and they apologized and said they would "fix it"..... We picked it up later that day , my wife took the car shopping for a few hours and when she got back I had a feeling I should check the oil to make sure they re-filled it....THEY DID NOT.......so far it does not seem like there is damage to the engine from running it virtually without oil.... I can understand if you forget something once in awhile....but if I was a mechanic there,,,,I would not tell anyone.....you guys are getting a BAD rep... read more
