red beans, and rice, and collard greens with what looks like ham, hock, or pigs ear
    Angela J.

I wanted this place to be amazing and maybe that is why the food was not amazing. I ordered a brisket meal with red beans and rice, and collard greens. I tried the red beans and rice first and was so shocked. The beans taste like a can of chili and I am not happy. The greens tasted alright but they have a very odd flavor. I love greens and make them at least 1 time a month ( it's just me so they last). The brisket is good but tougher than most brisket. I don't eat out much anymore but sometimes I splurge. The customer service was very good!! I may give them a try in the future to see if it got better

The smoke pouring out of the giant smoker out front is intoxicating, even if you are driving by in a car. Having lived in the neighborhood for many years, I've been to Reo's a few times. When the ribs are moist and juicy, they are some of the best in Portland. But when they are over cooked and dry, they are like leather. It's this inconsistency that saddens me and makes me hesitant to go back. During these Covid times, I understand that restaurants have difficulty gauging demand and that could impact the quality. But customers who are supporting businesses, have to decide where to spend their limited funds. I feel especially bad for Reo's after having experienced a fire that destroyed their business, only to rebuild then be hit with the pandemic and the senseless violence and destruction in Portland. Their once beautiful building is now covered in graffiti and is surrounded by a fence in an attempt to protect the business and allow them to continue cooking for customers. I'll give them another chance, but when I have time to go in person and make sure my beef ribs are fresh off the smoker.

Ordered delivery from here. Hadn't had Reo's since they were in John's Landing. I like the charcoal smoky barbecue taste of their ribs. I loved their ribs at that time. Decided to order a half rack of baby back's with mashed potatoes and baked beans. I asked for sauce on the side. Delivery took about 20 minutes. To make things short into the point... When I open my order there was already sauce on the ribs and normally when you order a half rack or full rack the ribs are intact and not cut up. So I got six cut up ribs That definitely did not come from the same rack. To top it off three of of the ribs were burnt to a crisp and tough as leather. The other three ribs were falling off the bone yummy good and tender. So apparently they cut up the ribs so that you get three yummy good ones and three leather burnt ones.... and then cover them all with sauce so that maybe you won't notice. Hmmmmm....not cool!! Don't express the mashed potatoes to come with gravy because they don't. In the bag beans or dry with barely any sauce. Reo I'm on to you! There are lots of other places that I can spend my $25 and get decent ribs.

Ordered food from Reo's and it was delicious. They were out of ribs so we ordered catfish and fried chicken. I got half catfish half chicken by accident? But it was still delicious. The Mac and cheese was some of the best I have ever had and the collard greens were great too. Order the banana pudding! You won't regret it.

Just went back here last Friday night and I think the food was much better than the last time I was here. Albeit the prices went up but the good and the portions were way better than before. Brisket was so good and the red beans and rice were tasty. Not a huge fan of their collard greens but I thought I should update my review and rating.

Pulled pork sandwich. Good smoke on the pork. Not much else on the buns. Kinda plain. If you just want meat this is your sandwich.

The building is a very casual place, as you walk in the friendly staff greet you and ask you to take a seat wherever you like. We decided to sit in the backside of the building it is a very peaceful section by the kitchen, you can smell the amazing smokey scent of the bbq from there. The walls are covered black and white cowboy pictures. As someone mention in their review, parking is a little challenging but we found parking in the neighborhood within 5 min. The Menu is simple and to the point, one page is drinks the other page is the BBQ, We shared the Pit Boss Platter, you will find that it feeds 2-3, you get a 1/4 pound of brisket and pulled pork, 2 pork ribs, 1 link (very good size) cornbread and your choice of 2 sides, we choose the collard greens and the the green chile mac and cheese. Everything was amazing. It was plenty for the two of us that shared it, we actually took some of it home, I also tied in the pickles, the are served with pickled onions and jalapeños (yummy). The BBQ flavor was amazing, nice and smoky , great smoke rings, they table drop in three different sauces, a vinegar oil, a surprisingly tasty mustard sauce and their house bbq sauce, they are all great tasting. My son ordered the 2 meat plate, he loved the Brisket and Ribs, he also tried the Pinto beans with Brisket, they were very tasty. Overall Podnah's lived up to the hype. If you are in the area its worth a try.

We ended up cutting things out of our order to compensate for that. Honestly, I'm totally fine with restaurants making the food pricier to make up for costs, but adding a huge mandatory tip is a iffy. There are plenty of really good bbq places in the area that will give you comparable food without that. Neither myself or anyone in my party will be going back while this is still present, sadly.

Pictured is a "half pound of brisket" for $23.00 and 60%-70% of it is just inedible fat! What was edible (3.4 ounces), was honestly disgusting and looks nothing like the photos they show online, as you can see for yourself. $11.00 for a cup of sour smelling banana pudding that was immediately tossed in the trash. $4.00 for a "chicken breast" that was literally 2 bites... This is the second and last time we will ever order from them again. I have never been more disappointed in an order of food in my entire life. We spent over $70 for the brisket as shown, a small salad with 2 bites of chicken, soggy coleslaw and sour banana pudding. Beyond unacceptable! Never again and truly hope this saves someone else from the disappointment that Reverend's BBQ truly is. Complete waste of money! Edit: It has been about 45 minutes since I ate what little of the brisket that was actually meat and not just fat, and I am extremely nauseous. Not worth the money, disappointment or naseau. Just looking at the photo alone, I wonder why I even tried eating it. Absolutely disgusting.

Flavor was great on this, and it had a crisp, crunchy batter - Wok fried yu choy: great wok char - Smoked pork krapao: crispy pork belly pieces, a fried poached egg (literally deep fried). Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. They were packed on a Wednesday for lunch, so I'm glad we got here before noon to snag a table.
