    Fresh Swordfish dinner.
    Mario T.

My wife and I love the Harborside and gave been going there for years. The blackened salmon dinner with lemon butter caper sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans is excellent and last night we had the fresh swordfish which was fantastic! The service is always great, the ambiance being right on the water is first class and the prices are very good. I highly recommend it.

Blast from the Past! Harborside has done a fantastic job keeping this Landmark building relevant for today's visitors and residents alike. Happy Hour on a Sunday afternoon was my perfect throwback experience! We were warmly greeted and escorted to a window table at the downstairs dining room and bar. As a child, our family were frequent-flyers on the Auto Ferry going over to Balboa Island to visit my aunt & uncle. I have fond memories of the arcade and enjoying a frozen banana on the ferry as we made our way across the channel where I'd look back and admire the architecture of the Pavilion. Many decades later, I was delighted to share my memories with my husband. He suggested having a glass of wine at the Harborside and honestly, that fulfilled a dream of mine. We stepped inside and explored the ballroom at the top of the stairs where a private party was enjoying a live band, surrounded by light-filled windows framing views of the channel. OMG- just as beautiful as I had imagined. Downstairs, the Harborside Restaurant is a long dining room and bar that features the same beautiful channel views. It is authentically reminiscent of its original design theme with lots of wood on the walls and nautical elements. For food, we ordered off the Happy Hour menu and found the portions to be very generous. To start, I had a Cadillac Margarita and hubby had a glass of Chardonnay. For food, we ordered a cup of clam chowder and the fried zucchini. We were so happy that we ordered another round of drinks, another order of fried zucchini to take home, a shrimp cocktail and a wedge salad. Everything was so fresh and prepared well. Our server was so friendly and efficient and she topped off the 5 star review. The zucchini was my favorite because the zucchini was not overcooked and the outer coating was light & crispy without being greasy. We didn't look at the other menus but I would recommend the Harborside if you're in the Balboa area and want a good meal with a fantastic view.

We had royalty treatment from marcos. We were super spoiled. He packed up our left overs!! Thank you Marcos for our pre Valentine dinner being so special.

The Harborside Happy Hour is theeeee best kept secret for dining in Newport. Our server Allison was helpful and friendly. We swapped stories of coming here with our mothers and how we keep memories and traditions here. Today we had coconut shrimp, shrimp quesadillas, and Chilean mussels (and fries) in a creamy garlic sauce (order a side of sourdough bread to sop up the sauce. MmmMmmMmm yummy! That's how Mama loved it and we honored her by finishing the garlic sauce her way.) The only reason we didn't order more is that it was a small party today, but this place is excellent for a larger gathering of the extended family when they come to town. Looking out the window, sometimes we've gotten a view of fishing boats boarding or debarking. But we always get a nice view of Newport Harbor, the Balboa ferry, and all the goings on.

Lettuce wraps for the WIN! It came on a plate with two big pieces of iceburg lettuce filed with yummieness (chicken with fried wonton) The red sweet chili sauce was the perfect additive. Only $9 was from the all day happy hour menu. Pinot Grigio $9 was a nice pairing. Sat in the bar area could see the dock outside the windows.

We went to visit Harborside for the happy hour and we got very surprised of all the good and plenty options that they have for that menu, the restaurant itself it's a classic vibe, the food takes it's time it's not a fast food restaurant, our cocktails and wine were really good, our server was so nice hi explained everything we need to know with clarity and courtesy.

We went for our wedding anniversary. Reservations were for 6 PM but they seated us early. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay which was promptly brought. Pot stickers were nice and hot. We ordered cioppino and fish tacos for our main dishes. Tacos were great, cioppino could have been more spicy. They also brought us chocolate-coconut slice of cake on the house. We were seated by the window overlooking the bay. Had a great time.

Beautiful seafood, American restaurant on the water in Newport Beach. Great service and fuse. I highly recommend any of the seafood dishes.

Amazing good and awesome service! Allison was such a great server and very friendly. I had the barramundi - catch of the day and it was delicious! Awesome view of the bay during sunset.

Bar area, relaxing and quiet on a weekday.

We stopped in for a bite and a drink. Ordered from the daily happy hour menu. Loved the view, my calamari, and cadillac margarita. It was so relaxing watching the boats go by on a cloudy day.

What a pretty view on the water and after all these years I finally made it there. I was even lucky enough to get 1 of their 4 parking spots they have, lol. Otherwise you'll need to drive around to find a parking spot. Right next to Davey's Locker. Came for OC restaurant week and it's an amazing deal! We got the oysters & poki nachos. Nachos are made with fried wontons which was a little greasy but it was tasty. Not a lot of ahi but what was there was good. The star of the meal was the cioppino and it had tons of seafood! What a variety & tast seafood in there! They did not scimp and it came with 2 pieces of garlic toast. I had to take quite a bit of it home but I do wish the Togo container was bigger. Couldn't get all the sauce in. They ran out do the crème brûlée but substituted with key lime cheesecake and that was simply delicious! Tart & sweet- soo glad I got to try this! They have a good happy hour so knowing that, I will be back too!

Is there easy parking nearby? Street parking can be chaotic in this area

Parking in the area sucks and worst on the weekend

Is there a private dining room with a TV for projecting a powerpoint? How quiet is the room for doing a dinner seminar on a Tuesday or Thursday night?

Hi Sherri, Yes, we do have a TV in the room. As long as you can hook-up to an HDMI cord you should be good. The room does have some curtains for privacy.

Will the full menu be available for Easter?

We will be offering a limited menu with most of our favorites that day along with some brunch specials, serving from 10-6.

Parking that will accommodate a pickup truck?

Hi, We do have valet parking on the weekends or their are many large municipal parking lots around the area that would work.

Is there valet service available here now?

Yes but it's not a big lot. It fills up quickly especially during the boat parade.

Is there outside seating and ocean views?

Currently, we have some outside seating on the weekends. We are back open inside where we have beautiful harbor views!

Do you have to be 21 to be seated in the "saloon" area? I would like to bring my 20yr old son with during happy hour:)

The roll is pretty expensive but honestly worth it in my opinion because of how much lobster they pack into it. The brioche bread was perfectly toasted. I would like to thank the staff for letting us rent out the place and providing excellent service for all 50 of us. My uncle spent almost 15k that night! Shout out to him for hosting! The beautiful interior strikes a nice balance of upscale and coastal vibe, with a modern design that feels welcoming. We were seated by the harbor with views of the ocean and yachts. It was stunning and love the natural light coming down on us as the sun was setting. It definitely felt like a movie scene. Lowkey tip: Parking is limited so get valet next door for $6. On the preselected menu, there were appetizers and then three types of entrees to choose from. My gf got the Chilean Sea-bass, I got the Filet Mignon with risotto, and my sister got the Crispy chicken dish. Everything was a 5/5, but my meat was a bit charred on the surface. It was still medium rare just how I like it, so it's still juicy. The Sea bass was soft and tender. The meat just melts on your mouth like butter. So good.As for the drinks I got a whiskey sour and it was tasty. My gf got the sunset cocktail, which tasted like a refreshing grapefruit. We also got a couple Caymus bottles from Napa that we brought over and it was bold, a bit tarty, and very smooth to drink. I forgot how much corkage fee was though. The whole night was fun and filled with good talks and laughter. Birthday girl had fun! It was splendid, indeed. The nice woman who served our side of the table was so fast and efficient. Im just amazed by how remembers all that stuff we wanted to order without asking twice. Brain capacity is at large, lol. Service was excellent. You guys gotta come and try if you haven't yet!

Starting with parking, this is Newport so you need to be aware. There's an underground parking structure right to the left of the entrance (if your car is pointed towards the marina). Shorebird validates at the hostess stand, valid 2 hours. Atmosphere is great. It's clearly a more upscale (but casual enough) brunch spot on the marina. The decor is beautiful and high quality but not overly done nor overly extravagant. Can imagine the vibe leaning more formal in the evening because it does give "ocean club with the lights on" during the day. Menu items all sound and look delicious but the execution is slightly off. An example was with the lemon ricotta hot cakes - gorgeous in photos and such a great idea on flavors but they had a horrible bitter aftertaste that made them really hard to eat (about 1/4 way in I couldn't do it). Similarly the meatballs looked delicious but the meatball itself was not nearly as flavorful as it looked and sounded on the menu. Passion fruit margarita (zero proof) tasted like passion fruit flavored sparkling water. Was definitely a miss for us. Will try again and order different items, but honestly not sure another visit could make up for the disappointment and get this in my top 5. If it wasn't for the location, they would get my business once and I'd never look back...

The steak would have been better if cut into medallions. It was a very messy chop on the steak, and two of the piece looked as if being held by a string. Each time they brought it back out it had a light steam coming off the top, but as soon as we took a spoon on to eat it was barely warm. The fourth bowl came out where the bowl itself was warm and the soup was a bit more on the warm side. I like soup that is it perfectly warm to almost a bit hot you need to blow on it. I questioned if it was exactly safe to eat at the temperature it was being served. 3- The hot chicken sliders and fries. The chicken was warmish. My son felt it was safe enough to eat, but with hesitation. The fries were cold to touch. He ate it all because he was hungry and didn't want to wait for it to be redone. 4- The French onion soup. The flavor was very tasty, but again like the clam chowder was not very warm. The food needs help. I feel like all this food was precooked and just sitting under a warmer. It did not taste like it was freshly prepared and served immediately. It was not busy so not sure why all food was cold to barely warm. Total bill was around $100, and I left there upset at paying that amount for food that was not worth it. I don't like leaving a restaurant and regretting eating out. Such a horrible feeling.

Really fishy, and the meat (despite a really generous portion!) was super oily and rubbery. Initially I was thinking of getting a boil or a bowl, and wish I'd gotten that since other tables seemed pleased. However, if Lobster is in your name, all the lobster dishes should be quality, and this just missed the mark.
