Oh man, how disappointing! I walked over from the brewery next door to place my order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. I told the person who took my order that it would take me longer than 10 minutes to finish my beer but assured him I would return soon. When I returned at 8:15 they were closed, but someone was nice enough to open the door and give me a bag of food I had already paid for while acting inconvenienced. So, I guess when I indicated I wouldn't be back in 10 minutes I should have been reminded of their closing time. When I got home, my order was NOT what I ordered at all! I assume someone else received my order of a Cuban sandwich with rice, beans, and empanadas, instead of a huge portion of yellow rice with a little bit of chicken, and a side of plantains and yucca. My friend heated up some beans and sautéed the yellow rice and added veggies. What my friend made with what we were given was delicious. read more

I don't know how this place has 4.5 stars but whatever ever, mofongo was a dump, jibarito bistec sandwich was garbage and I ordered tostones and chicken breast for my kids and the meat was over cooked. It looked like the tostones were from the previous night, brown and cold. Overall this place was a disappointment the first time. There's now plexiglass in front of the food station but none of the workers are wearing masks or gloves. There's no posted sign that customers need to wear masks, people crowd in way over reduced capacities, and there's no markers for physical distancing. Someone else posted about no gloves and the owner commented that he took care of that. Well that was short-lived! C'mon, this is a global pandemic!! Best Cuban food in town. Place is off the hook. Picadillio, pulled pork, chicken, ribs. All of it good, empanadas are juicy on the inside, potato balls properly seasoned and stuffed. Writing this I think I know what I am doing for lunch. Establishment is clean and staff are friendly, don't be put off if they are busy. Staff and kitchen are lighting fast. Worth the short wait. I went to this place hoping for some true Hispanic food. I'm half Puerto Rican on my mothers side. I learned to cook from my Abuelita. I have fairly high standards when it comes to Hispanic food. I found the food here to be very lacking in flavor. Not bad. Just very flat. I've eaten here many times and have tried most of their dishes. There are many things they do right. Their rice's are decent. Maduros are perfect. The empanadas have the perfect crust. Light, crisp, airy. The beef are good but the chicken are lacking in flavor. Now the roast pork. What good Hispanic doesn't love some solid roast pork? We Puerto Ricans do a roast pork very similar. There isn't a Christmas in my family without roast pork (and especially with Pasteles). My Abuelita would make a thick mojo of extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, lots of fresh garlic, oregano, and a few other spices that I'm sure she's still keeping secret. That puppy would marinate over night AT LEAST. Slow roasted, moist, fall apart, tons of flavor, perfection. That's what I think of as the BEST roast pork. Rice and Beans knows how to roast the meat for sure. It's tender, moist, perfectly cooked. But lacking in the flavor department. It's not bad by any means. None of their food is bad. But it's merely "ok". I've no doubt it's "authentic" Cuban food. But think of a burger The "American" food. I'm sure in your mind there is an "ok" burger joint and "great" burger joint. My first time there and it won't be my last! Telling all my family and friends about this little hole in the wall! Finally we can get some good food in spring hill! Authentic food at that! I got the pork stew..... It's absolutely amazing!!!!! So moist... Love the juices that it's in. Definitely a must try!!! I'm going to try the chicken next.... I am really impressed with this little cafeteria style Cuban cafe. Just got a cafe Cubano, my friend referred to it as a cortadito, not to be confused with a cafe con leche. Then, I eyed a casserole with yellow rice, chicken, mayo and cheese. Yes, it was decadent, but sooo good. Plantains on the side. Not a green vegetable in sight. Once in a while that's okay, correct?
