Wanted an alternative to my usual places to get Chinese style dishes and saw this in the area. It has plenty of choices and the sushi looks promising but I didn't order that this time. I had the moo shu pork and pork fried rice. Unfortunately the flavor was lacking and some of the food tasted "off" like old product was used. Very disappointed with this place. My sister wanted to take me here tonight for the first time so we decided to stop in. We were seated right away and began looking at the menu and wanted to leave right away looking at the prices. Outrageous sushi prices ..... $9-$15 a roll for rolls that are normally $7-10 anywhere else I've ever been. To start I ordered edamame and clear onion soup. The edamame was COVERED in salt.. the soup was very sweet tasting. It was very weird to me. My sister tasted it as well and agreed it tasted very bad. The food is good. Prices are decent for the portions although parking can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare. My first visit here was disappointing. I came with my ex and we at inside. The server was friendly and the food was good. We took home our leftovers and I found a huge piece of plastic (from a lid) in my food. I stayed away for a while and then I decided to give them another chance. The staff are clearly unorganized, lack cohesion and are all very young. I placed an order for take out and the boy at the front said it should only take 10 min. 30 minutes later and I still hadn't gotten my food. I asked him if he knew when it would be ready and he responded with, " Oh well they're really swamped back there. I just went back there to yell at them and tell em to hurry up." (mind you he lied, I had been watching him help a server cleanups spill at a table). I told him, " I understand but that doesn't answer my question." He just gave this sort of dumbfounded look and said no. Didn't offer to go back and check and you know, ask for a time frame so I told him I just wanted a refund and, he literally started to ARGUE with me. "Oh well, I guess I can go ask? I don't know if I can give it back to you.", " I don't know if I can I do that. I don't know if I can give you your money back", etc. What do you mean you can't refund my money for food that I have not yet received?! He continued to try and give me the run around, pretending to look through credit receipts so I told him I paid him in cash so idk why he's looking through credit card receipts. He feigned surprise and continued to shuffle around random pieces of paper. " Oh well, I have to figure out how much you paid." I told him it was $21 even that I paid in cash and handed directly to you. You don't remember that? I'm assuming she was the manager but she finally walked up and offered no acknowledgement, apology, explanation, just nothing... but she did give a nod when he asked about refunding my money. As I'm leaving the boy at the front shouts at me "Have a nice day!" with blatant sarcasm. So completely, unnecessary and unprofessional. How are you going to catch and attitude when you LIED about the wait time, LIED about checking on my food, didn't offer any type of apology and you were so, so rude... Wanted to order in and overall just disappointing. We ordered around $100 worth a food about 30 minutes before they close so maybe it was just rushed, I don't know. Cashew chicken was inedible and no where near what cashew chicken should/does taste like. It was bland, chewy and very thick. Honey chicken was very meh and a bit of raw batter throughout the order and the Gyoza was cold :| .Best thing we got was chicken fried rice and even that was just okay. Saturday night 6/8/19 we went to Rice N Roll and were seated. Once we were seated and our menus were given to us...no one came back to even ask us if we wanted water for fifteen minutes. There were (4) servers including one person specifically cleaning tables. We never got a second look. The manager stood at the front cashier making sure "To Go" was being handled. Never looked around. All the other servers just walked around us to the tables directly next to us and never acknowledged us. One Sushi Chef and they were somewhat busy but not slammed. GOT UP and told the management we are going to Umami's and we did which was great. I do not recommend Rice N Roll. No management and the servers are oblivious to what is going on in their zone. I have been here for about a year and I still couldn't find a good Chinese restaurant. The two that are near us are horrible! So looking on Yelp I found this one. So I decided to try it as I felt that it couldn't be any worse than those two places. Easy to get to, easy parking and convenient. We called ahead of time, ordered, and easy pick up. Didn't even have to check the order. So as I am driving home, I could smell the food. OMG! It smelled soooooo GOOD!! I get home and the food was flavorful, tasty, not salty or greasy, and worth it! Thank you for the fantastic food and my compliments to the chef! Your staff was friendly, knowledgeable and got our order correct. Now when can you say that about a Chinese restaurant??? We do take out from there about one a month ever since Golden Inn closed. It's been hit or miss the few times we have ordered take out. One time the spice in the Tso's chicken was so hot, our taste buds burned so bad, we could not enjoy any of our meal. We gave it another chance as mistakes happen. This last time the chicken was so tough it didn't even feel like it was chicken trying to chew it. The next day both my husband and I got headaches. We usually love leftover Chinese food but we threw it out. Not happy about throwing out expensive food. We are sad to say we tried but we are done. read more

Came home to lunch portion size meals (smaller than some other places' lunch portion actually) My bourbon chicken was dry ..covered in a liquid sauce so thin it was like water's consistency but darker..that sauce just kinda went all over my white rice..the pepper steak was ok..only thing decent was the general chicken cuz it was larger chunks of chicken that didn't have breading overkill...the white rice and fried rice were both too dry..and somehow I ended up with beef stir fry in a massive liquid concoction ..what happened to my beef chow mien noodles??! I ordered Hunan Chicken with brown rice. The food cane out luke warm and then the rice was hard as a rock. I could not believe my eyes. I used the spoon to try and separate the rice, it was as if the rice was baked together. When the manager came iver, she starred me in the eyes and said "oh I no charge you for rice." I did not eat my meal, she still turned around and charged me for the entire meal. I suspect that they are using stale rice and warming it up the next day. read more

I have ordered from here a handful of times. I have high hopes and then get disappointed, then I feel like it has been long enough that my hope grows that maybe something has changed. And I get disappointed all over again. I don't think I have placed an order without 1 or more of my items still being FROZEN. Last time it was my shumai and this time it was the tamago. How can you proudly serve frozen food to a customer? I don't just order one thing I always dumb like $60/$70 everytime I order and everytime I'm disappointed. Third strike you're out! I will never be going back. The sushi is average, only slightly better than buying sushi from Publix. I'm shocked they are still in business. Unacceptable food safety. FOH staff is nice but clearly they have multiple problems with management for not checking orders going through expo. And don't even get me started on the kitchen. We were looking for something close by our home to get "noodles" for the kids, so we set our map to lead the way to Rice N Roll! Upon arriving and parking, the outside was not very impressive... I'd actually overlook this place if I didn't know it was actually there. So, at first sight, I was very skeptical. When we went inside, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and inviting. We ended up ordering plain sides of noodles for the kids and they were super happy. Parents +1 brownie point! My husband and I had super spicy Thai and I ordered a bunch of sushi rolls. Sushi was good, nothing stuck out about it. I did rather enjoy the vegan roll though. And we also had some crab Rangoon which was pretty tasty. Me and my father went to eat at this restaurant , we were expecting nice food, and a nice environment. When the first greeted there are about five people just standing at the host stand doing nothing and throughout the night they just sat there on their phones, chitchatting not really paying attention to customers in the store. The food was good to start but then when I got my sushi, the fish tasted bad and my dad's chicken was way too much and the rice that he got tasted like it was cooked in a really old peanut oil and the sauce that the chicken is in, was not as runny as it should've been it was clumpy and sticky. I asked for a small 2 ounce cup of spicy mayonnaise for my sushi as I do every other restaurant I go to and the server came back. It was a cup of mayonnaise and a tiny drop of hot sauce mixed with it. It was literally straight mayonnaise, I do not recommend this place I felt sick ever since I ate there. read more

Today was my day to see the doctor and do the usual check-up thing. The office scheduled my appointment for 10:30 in the morning and then asked if I would be fasting so that they could do all of the necessary blood work. I was practically frothing at the mouth when I got to the office since I didn't have my usual hot tea and fresh fruit to start the day. Despite my begging and pleading, they didn't do the blood draw until the end of the exam which meant it was getting close to 12 Noon. By this point in the day the exam table was starting to look mighty tasty, and thankfully they turned me loose before I tried to take a bite out of it. I had bookmarked a few eateries near his office (in far northern Lutz) and zoomed up the road till I found Rice N Roll in a nearby shopping center at the intersection of Dale Mabry and Lutz Lake Fern Road. Rice N Roll promotes themselves as a Japanese, Chinese, Thai & Asian Fusion restaurant offering fine dine in, take-out, and catering to the local community. That sounds presumptuous, but I found the restaurant and the food to be mighty delicious. Their menu has a long listing of Asian delights with a wide variety of lunch specials and a full sushi bar. I sat at the bar and ordered a couple of rolls -- the Red Dragon and the Spicy Yellowtail. Both rolls were excellent, with very fresh fish and tasty mixtures of veggies, fish, and creative sauces. The restaurant was surprisingly full for lunch with a lot of medical staff from the nearby St. Joseph's North Hospital, as well as local business people, and a crowd of regulars. Many people were ordering their meals to go which ranged from traditional Chinese carryout, noodle bowls, curry, and sushi. If you find yourself way up the road near the Pasco county line, then I'd suggest looking for Rice N Roll in the back corner of the Publix shopping center. My husband found this place on yelp and was excited to go. Chinese places that we both like seem to be few and far between in Tampa. And we're both always looking to add another sushi place to our list. This place is a little hole in the wall in a shopping center seemingly in the middle of nowhere. We actually love hole in the wall places because our favorite restaurants always seem to be holes in the wall. What's so great about this place is that it has Chinese food and sushi. Our first visit we went a little crazy and tried tons of food. We spent $50, which is really reasonable when you consider that we stuffed ourselves silly and had leftovers for days. My husband is a huge fan of crab & cheese won tons but had not found any that were even halfway decent since moving to Tampa. The crab & cheese won tons here are absolutely amazing. Very yummy. We came back a second time, this time for dinner. This time we focused more on the Chinese food, though still ordered some sushi. A high point of this restaurant is the service. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and the chefs always ask us how we like our food. The servers here actually work as a team, which is becoming increasingly rare in our experience. If a server, who is not ours, walks by and sees empty water cups or plates stacking up they will take care of it, which we greatly appreciate. This may not be the absolute best sushi or Chinese food I've ever had, but they're both good, some of it is very good. The fact that I can get both here means we will keep coming back. read more

So the problem with the sushi here is it's not consistent. I've had good sushi and I've had pretty had sushi. The good sushi was 3.5/5 and the bad was 1.5/5. By bad I mean fish that is a bit funky. That is not good my friends. It's a shame because on a good day it's pretty good but I don't like taking the risk of possibly ending up with sashimi on an off night. read more
