This has normally been my first choice when it comes to Asian food. But I doubt I'll come back any time soon. Customer service seriously needs to be worked on here. If employees are going to have a gossipy conversation, they shouldn't be doing that at a table where the customers should be. I can tell they don't care all too much. The staff was nice and helpful! Fried Shrimp was really good sauces were ehh. Fried rice specially made was delicious. We wanted the rice with peas and carrots and egg and they added it and it was bomb. Tried the egg drop soup, it was inedible and kinda cold. Crab wontons were pre-made and a little sweet, maybe you might like them but not my cup of tea. Not very many vegetarian options. No tofu. But for a super cheap Chinese place it rocks! I ordered there and took it Togo. Delivery is available though! Overall happy with my experience I ordered large shrimp with plain fried rice add carrot peas egg, Side of special fried rice, crab wontons, egg drop soup, total was around 20 bucks and me and my husband are full full full. The food is great here if you're too lazy to drive to panda you can get it delivered!!! The reason I didn't give 5 stars is due the service.. If they had a good manger to keep the rude high schoolers in check that would be a plus! Now for the menu all they offered was "fried" rice no veg, no egg just literally fried rice, steamed rice, there was plain soft noodles but I wasn't given a choice.. I had the shrimp lo mein it was good with lots of big plump shrimp. Orange chicken legit, tso's chicken legit, Kung Pao legit. Pretty pricey but I didn't feel like I was ripped off. Not bad for fast food Chinese. Unfortunately, the manager and staff are rude. The cashier point blank told some customers not to come back, after they questioned a menu item. The menu item in question was the fried rice - they offer "plain" fried rice, while most Chinese restaurants (and even the picture on their menu) offer fried rice with veggies, egg, etc. There are so many other options for Chinese food, that offer good quality food and good quality customer service. read more

Chicken pad thai is the best thing on the menu, they use drunken noodles and when you ask for spicy you actually get spicy.

When this place first opened up I wasn't impressed.....so yesterday I went to give it another shot bc I didn't want to cook dinner. First of all, don't expect a warm greeting when you walk in. The teenagers at the front counter have more important things to do than greet you with a smile or hello. I wasn't there to for the service, though. I ordered 1 chicken fried rice, and 1 beef fried rice and 1 shrimp lo mein and spent $35 FREAKIN DOLLARS! Little pricey if you ask me. I will say once I got home the food was HOT and good. My family ate it so I can't complain. I doubt we'll be back......but it was worth a 2nd shot. read more

Customer service is seriously lacking. Pad Thai is a joke. Super sweet with hardly any noodles. They used chow fun noodles. But my fault for expecting a decent Thai dish from a Chinese place. But the Kung pao should have been at least decent, but the sauce was lazily made with Sriracha. I love Sriracha as a condiment, but to liberally use as your sauce is cheap and it was ridiculously spicy. I saw the cook showering the dish in the back, that's how I know. Carrots in the dish were nearly raw. I just ended up eating the peanuts. Won't be back. If the people were nice maybe I would try again. read more

We love this place! We have ordered from some of the other Chinese places in the area, but this one is by far the best! Their dumplings are amazing!! We also love the egg rolls. My husbands says the hot and sour soup is the best he has ever had. We have tried the honey sesame chicken, general Tso's and the black pepper beef and have loved them all. The only dish I wouldn't order again is the Mongolian beef. Too many onions for my taste, but that's more personal preference. Delivery is always super quick, about 30 minutes read more

My wife and I love Chinese food. We get by on the local NTX version that is available all over the place. It's good, but not great, and can be had at any number of restaurants in the lake cities and Denton. Rice Pot Express in Hickory Creek is a game changer. The sauces are very flavorful, the fried foods are always crisp and never over-battered, the meat is generously cut, and the veggies are fresh and delicious. Their sesame chicken is easily the best I've had here in TX. The fried dumplings... I could write a love song to those crunchy little bastards. All across the menu, the portions are large enough for an average couple to share one entree. In my 35 years, I've had a lot of Asian cuisine. I travel all over the globe for work, so I get to taste the rainbow, as it were. The only times I've ever had chinese food better than what they serve at this Rice Pot, there was no english on the menus and I was forced to do some quick currency conversion in my head before ordering. Gotta stay under that per diem budget! Not only is cost not a problem with this place, but the taste... it's as good as any Chinese place you'll find in the best Chinatowns in the US. It's not quite what you will find in Beijing, but then... you'll never find Sesame Chicken in Beijing. Nin Hao, Rice Pot! I hope we know each other for a long time. Denton already has some of the best sushi in all of DFW. Now we have some of the best "Asian Fusion" (read: americanized chinese food) in DFW. We order delivery from Rice Pot probably 2 - 3 times per month. Love these guys! The food is always piping hot and delish - the delivery guy remembered us when we moved to a new house. I admit it may be a little pricier than other options in the area but it's soooooo much better than anywhere else too. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for awesome chow delivered to my doorstep in minutes. They've saved many a dinner time in our home. read more

We've eaten here twice while living in the Best Western down the road, (long story, but will have a happy ending soon) and really love their food. We've always had dinner and the portions are huge. I ordered from Rice Pot Express last night. I used a menu that was sent to my door that clearly said "$2 delivery charge". I called back less than 3 minutes later to add to my order. They charged me $8 for delivery. $4 for each order even though I only added to my order, and they delivered everything all at once. The food looks really good. A nice "fresh" presentation, but like others I found the food to be very bland and without taste. The dumplings came with a laughable amount of soy sauce and they charge $.69 for any extra sauces of any kind. Not sure what size that is. The total bill was shockingly high too. $37! I paid for my second part in cash, so that was just for 2 entrees and one order of dumplings. I'm so disappointed and was looking forward to trying a new Chinese (at least new to me) restaurant. read more

Long story short my $51.86 order turned into a $98.86 bill. The delivery driver decided to give himself a tip off of my card and claimed he didnt have a receipt. Now my account is overdrafted $47 and they did nothing about it. So disappointed with their customer service skills and how they just allow their delivery drivers to take advantage of customers. read more

Poor service, the place states they are open until 10pm. Tried to call in an order for pickup around 9:20. They asked us if we wanted to pick up tomorrow. Went in and ordered anyways. We forgot one meal and when we tried to order it they said they have closed their computers. 9:45. I have lived in Hickory Creek for 10 years and we have had very few choices for Chineese food. The Rice Pot is in the old Starbucks location and they have excellent food. I consider myself to be somewhat of an orange chicken coniasiuer and they have the best in my book. Their "fried rice" that's served with meals appears to be either brown rice or rice that has been fried to look like brown rice. It is good, but I am sure it confuses everyone expecting traditional fried rice. Although, if you order fried rice as a side you get the traditional fried rice with egg, stuff, and pieces of whatever they make fried rice with. Either way, it's good stuff. As said in another review, these people just don't get it. They are rude and really don't care. If you complain, get ready for an argumentative and rude response. The employee was ignoring me and later literally yelling at me and the manager was right there saying nothing. One time I came in and the manager was asleep in a long booth. Literally spralled out asleep. I've visited this place over a dozen times but this last visit was the last. Too bad because the food is good. Just don't ask for light on the sauce because you won't get it but you will get a defensive and why are you bothering me attitude from the staff as they sink back into their chair behind the counter to keep reading a book. I'm trying to be better about reviewing more locations, so I'm starting with Rice Pot. I really liked it! We ordered the orange chicken and teriyaki chicken meals and they were both delicious. Usually orange chicken is a little mushy, but this was cooked perfectly. They did forget the rice on the order (it was a pick up order) but I had rice at home so it wasn't terrible. We also got the crab rangoons, also really good. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone craving Asian food! read more
