Came here for lunch on a Friday and was the first one in the restaurant. We both ordered the pad see ewe, one with tofu and one with beef. The tofu looked amazing. The beef was a bit tough, so next time I will do tofu. Overall, the dish was fantastic. Lunch portions weren't too big, just enough to fill you and no leftovers. I wasn't enjoying all of the culinary offerings here, but was craving some Asian food stat. Thai is always a good option if there's no Korean in the vicinity. Had a great meal here! The menu was surprisingly extensive and included lots of vegetarian options. I had the the veggie rolls and Kao soi noodles with the passion fruit nectar drink. It was a great combination and everything was delicious. The noodles tasted very fresh and the curry had so much flavor. I tasted my friends pad Thai which was also great, not too sweet and very flavorful. The service was a bit slow, but very friendly. Wandered into Rice in search of quality Thai food. First of all-- I love the interior of this restaurant. It's beautifully designed with a minimalist touch and earthy accents. We decided to try this place simply because the atmosphere... i also really loved the attached Thai market when you walk down the stairs from rice (also part of restaurant). I ordered the Pad Thai here and it came with a large egg covering the dish. It was pretty good, although not the best pad Thai I've had. It was flavorful and the chicken was cooked well. Hard TIE for my favorite place I ate for my 2 year anniversary. The staff warned me the sushi would take a while. They were obviously slammed between online orders and a full house. I decided, since it was a date, it's worth the wait. Plus there were some lagers I've never tried to keep me busy while we were socializing. The larb had crisp fresh greens, the meat was salty/funky/savory and the carrots were fresh and sweet. Which made for a rounded flavor profile in my mouth. My only personal preference would have been more green onion, but for the sake of my date, it was probably the perfect amount to get away with a smooch later. The wakame salad is exactly what I'm looking for in a wakame salad. It was briney, had a light squeeze of lemon and the perfect amount of sesame oil. The SUSHI was worth the wait. It was the most delicate salmon I've had on the east coast thus far since my move to Maryland (I'm a Oregonian). It has that delicious kind of buttery quality I love. Perfect rice (I've found east coast sushi rice leans sweeter than I'm accustomed to). The sauce was lovely and light. This place is perfect for lunch. Great atmosphere and fast service. I have had a LOT of crab rangoons and these were some of the best. Not too greasy and the filling was delish. Used to be decent. Can no longer really call itself Thai. I got a curry with zero heat and tomatillos as one of the vegetables. Guess that should be expected from a place offering two totally different type of cuisines expecting they can do either or both well. Papaya salad is the best in the DMV. Perfect balance of sweet (palm sugar), spicy (Thai chilis), sour (lime), and umami (fish sauce and grilled shrimp. Pad Thai with the thin fried egg over the top was also very good. read more

This place is incredible. The ambiance is chill and well -appointed, the service is attentive and the food is excellent. This is a really good spot for a low-key date or just hanging out with friends. I'm also shocked that this doesn't have 4.5 stars. This review is based solely off of the pad Thai (decided to compare pad Thai from 4 places on a Friday) - I don't typically like to review places after having one dish, but I don't see us trying rice soon so here it goes. Pad Thai was pretty good. It was between 2nd or 3rd out of the 4 we had, but probably 3rd due to the price ($16). The flavor was decent, not quite savory enough, a little sweet and had a hint of maple syrup. The pieces of pork were juicy and delicious. It came with a sort of omelet on top which didn't add anything to the dish or make sense to me really. Overall a good pad Thai but it's a few dollars more than most places and the serving size is similar if not smaller. The restaurant itself seems like a nice place to eat in, which sets it apart from other Thai places that focus on carry out orders. The hostess and staff I dealt with were friendly and my takeout order was ready quickly. read more

Love this place!! My husband and I have this delivered almost weekly. We love the pad Thai and the service is top notch. Delivery is quick. I have a gluten allergy and they are always so careful with my order, I never have a reaction. Out of the like 50 times we ordered there was one time when they forgot to write which order was gf, when I notified them they quickly brought me a replacement. They are the best of the best! Really, really good. The drunken noodles were pretty good. I ordered it mild and it was still slightly spicy - glad I didn't go with medium. Good mix of veggies, good flavor. The chicken with cashews had a ton of protein in it - good value. The sauce was a bit bland, so I added chili paste and soy sauce. Not a great dish. I wasn't a fan of the green tea sticky rice that was served with this dish. I would have preferred regular steamed rice. Overall, not a bad place. I'm just so jazzed! I sound like a dork, I realize, but I am only how the Good Lord made me The market also offers cookware, dishware, sake, soju, and local wines. What the what! I could go on, but I'll spare you. I realize I'm just listing out a bunch of ingredients but try to understand where I'm coming from as a person who likes cooking Asian dishes, doesn't want to travel too far for ingredients, and substituting ingredients/making-do with stuff from WF and Safeway. RICE. Came here when they first opened in late 2003. The best most different tasty Thai in the entire DMV and I've eaten at over 150+. Very quickly fell in love with this place. The Panang curry was warm and satisfying and hit the spot but had a looooot of veggies. The drunken noodles were good but there was a little too much fish sauce used for my liking. Their menu is pretty standard and the waitress recommended that I try the sautéed chicken and Asian pumpkin. Rice is a narrow, brick-walled space of the sort that seems to be the norm in the Logan Circle area. Their two distinctive points as far as I were concerned were first that they offer a vegetarian menu with no fish sauce or other such additives, and two that their rice is really fantastic. And I will give them that, the black rice that came with my meal was quite rich and flavorful and perfect in texture. Even when I buy fancy rice, I cannot quite cook it like that. Off their green menu, I sampled some spring rolls, much thinner and longer and more filling creations that what one typically sees (offered at a modest discount during happy hour), filled with a thick taro-based paste and with two complementary (and veg-safe) dipping sauces. The entree I tried was another iteration of my go-to Thai favorite: chili basil tofu. It was pretty delicious. I ended up on three stars for a couple of reasons. For one, I wasn't enchanted with the portion size on my entree, not a ton of tofu and some iffy vegetable selections. For another, if I wanted fish-free Thai food with smallish portions in an urban, modern setting, I could get all that at Beau Thai, but pay significantly less. High prices and small portions is not a winning combo, dragging this place down from four stars to three. read more

I ordered the thai iced tea, spring rolls (4 fried taro egg rolls), and the drunken noodles with shrimp -- which was very spicy! You can get reliable high level food every time . Their sticky rice and red curry are some of the best I've had. This is one of my sisters favorite places to eat - she's been here several times. This was my first time here. It was a cold Friday night after choir rehearsal , we walked 3 long, cold blocks to get a bite to eat. We were seated almost immediately. It's was after 9pm. The restaurant was 75% full. It was very noisy and very dimly lit. Our server was excellent and very attentive. We were placed at a small table for two. We wanted 3 dishes but realized that all 3 plates wouldn't fit on the table so we had the crab fried rice as an appetizer and the other 2 would be dinner. My sister decided to the make Valentine's Day reservations here for her and her man and cancel the other reservation that she'd already made a really popular "soul food" place. She thought that this place would be cozier and more romantic. I'd come again if my sister insisted but this would not be my restaurant of choice, with all the other places that I love on 14th street. I have had better Thai food. It is a little bit smaller so I imagine on the weekends it gets pretty full quickly especially because they have great prices on their food. I rang the restaurant because I have a dairy allergy and need to know if there's butter or milk (oh yeah, I also don't eat meat or eggs) and the guy was so rude. He said unless you say you want Vegan when ordering vegan fried rice they will put egg in and after listening to two people talk they didn't sound confident in ingredient knowledge. Huge fail. Hidden gem. My roommate and I stumbled upon this place at 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon and were a bit skeptical when we entered an almost-empty dining room. We decided to give it a try anyways, having been heartened by the friendly waiter and made more hungry by the scrumptious menu, and boy are we lucky we did! The sushi was fine, nothing to report other than it was an odd number of pieces which made it harder to share! We got the spicy duck dish and the green papaya pad Thai with chicken. Both dishes were well seasoned and well cooked but neither was particularly spicy despite the note on the menu. I was sad that our duck dish came with white rice when I saw so many pretty photos of green and purple rice on other yelpers reviews. Highly recommend the pantry store in the basement, full of goodies for the at home cook, great items that are hard to find in a grocery store.
