I had several follow-up appointments,one of which was to have a root canal by Dr. Raja. He has newer equipment and techniques that made that process completed relatively .... pain free. I have been going to this practice for years. I am delighted that root canals can now be done here instead of going to Frederick. They got me in promptly for an appointment. Dr. Raja was not happy with the fit on my new crown. He sent it back to be redone. So glad he was looking out for me. He wants his work done RIGHT. He has since changed companies to prepare his crowns. He is very compassionate and I greatly appreciated this. I highly recommend Dr. Raja and his very qualified team member including Anna. Highly trained competent staff. Give Dr. Raja and his team a try..you will be pleased.

The office staff is also lovely to deal with and they are in-network with most insurance plans! The only negative thing I will say is that if you have an emergency, they may or may not be able to get you in. Their schedule is just super busy. If you have an emergency, try Potomac Dental Spa, but be prepared to pay out the nose there as they don't take insurance.

The procedures that I would need he told me could take place in his facility and that he could perform all the work that needed to be done. Because of the extensive work needed and given my medical history I opted for a second opinion, and I am THANKFUL I DID! The second opinion dentist I saw said that the procedure I would need and that Gilbert suggested was not a simple one. In fact it was extensive surgery and needed to be conducted by an oral surgeon. He also said, given the work that needed to be done, it would be insane not to put me 'under' which would need to be done in an outpatient surgical facility. And that if the surgery was not properly done and scheduled immediately, my gums could very well become infected (as they had previously which put me in the hospital for a week) and that the infection could easily travel to my brain and become fatal. Taking into consideration all this, and that Dr. Gilbart knew of my medical history, but failed to advise me of about the risks, I can not imagine where I would be if I had taken his recommendations and allowed him to do the work himself. If you need a dentist to perform regular check ups, exams and X-rays, I'd say he would be able to do the job. The only reason I gave him 2 stars was because he had a good bedside manner and seemed to be a real people pleaser. But outside of that, I would get a second opinion or skip his all together!

First, let me say my case was pretty bad. I had almost retired myself to the fact my teeth would rot out of my head before I would be able to afford real dental care. Listen, do not let that deter you, Mrs Shelia gave me information to Atnea Dental that ended up saving me almost 75% of my procedures. For example: I needed 7 full front top crowns and this was just the beginning. Each crown roughly cost around 1700.00, but with Mrs Shelia and Valley Dental Associates as a whole they helped lead me to this insurance taking the cost down to roughly 700 a piece. I use the word roughly because every case is different and therefore could mean price variations. Im using my case as an example only to show how much they helped me save in my case. Now let's move along. After my 7 crowns I will need my bottoms done and restored. Then upper and lower back partials. I intend to make a progress review at the very end. So far I can absolutely promise you will not regret going to Valley Dental they just gave me my teeth back. I had gone to a school of dentistry back in 2018. I wish I had known then what I know now would have saved myself time, money, and likely a couple teeth. As it were I feel very lucky to be working with such a professional and competent team of people to restore my smile and my confidence. Yesterday I held my hand up infront if my mouth, and then I remembered I didn't have to anymore. It had become muscle memory to hide my teeth. Also, I had lost so much weight because my teeth were crumbling. Valley Dental Associates took what I thought impossible and made it possible. I was explained every step, a part of every decision, nothing happened unless I was 100% comfortable and on board. Another thing I appreciated is the kindness and how the whole staff would back each patient as a team. They all came in to see the finished results and see all our hard work together. Because finding a good dentist is very important to me - I wanted to make an apt with more than one and compare. I have to say, I am very glad I chose Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care as one of them. These are the Pro points: 1) Ample parking close to the building 2) Very easy to get to, and not a lot of traffic to wrestle with - getting in and out of the parking area 3) Building is Huge, VERY clean and patients are seen in individual offices - so you have privacy to talk to your dentist, etc. 4) When I came in, I was immediately seen by a very nice person who took me to a small reception room where we filled out my information together and I was able to talk to her about exactly what I wanted to have done (I wanted digital panoramic X-rays which I wanted emailed to myself, and I wanted a no pressure consult for a treatment plan) - This meeting with what i'll call their "Welcoming Person" was very comfortable and unusual, in that I have not ever experienced this before - VERY nice touch! PLUS, they had a little welcoming bag with several small dental gifts inside - I continued to be very nicely impressed. 5) Immediately after the welcoming/informational meeting, I was taken to a very clean office where I would await the Dentist. I was prepared to sit in the Dental chair and read - I brought a book - but it wasn't necessary, as my Dentist (Dr. Brandy Behrens) came in w/in one minute of my getting into the dental chair and getting comfy. She was VERY nice and took the time to really look at the x-ray, my teeth, and truly listen to what I felt i needed. I explained I knew my teeth were in very bad shape - and I was going to need a 2 step plan as I could not afford to have everything done at once. She understood - and did not pressure me to take out loans, charge the work on my credit card, etc, etc. This also, was very refreshing and i felt very honest. I NEVER felt rushed - AT ALL - which really made me feel relaxed and not under any pressure about anything. Dr. Behrens and I discussed solutions and she said she would email me my Dental plan along with my x-rays. 6) I then went to the lobby/reception area and paid my bill ($39.00) 7) When I returned home, all of the info and the x-ray was there in my e-mail - just as they promised. ** In conclusion, there was not one negative thing that occurred, OR that I noticed during my visit. Everyone was polite, cheerful and seemed genuinely happy to talk to you and have you visit. I was never left alone - as I have been in every other dental office i've been to in the last 10 years - Usually i'm handed paperwork by the person at the front desk who barely seems to notice that i'm a human being, and many times seems annoyed to have to bother with me. ** I honestly cannot think of one thing that Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care, could have done any better than they did - therefor, i have no "Cons" Listing.
