Egg Sandwich with sausage and Peppered Bacon
    Sarah B.

Ordered room service for breakfast and their egg sandwich is MASSIVE. It was really good, the bread was a bit thick but overall it was good, the bacon is a bit overpriced for what it is. I can't speak to the ambiance, but I've heard the restaurant is really nice

So glad I decided to wait and make this my 140th review for the year so far. Solid 5 star experience here last weekend. We came here for our anniversary for the 1st time and will for sure be back. Located in the great hotel down Boise Inn at the 500. This is a small plug for the hotel definitely the nicest hotel in town. Made a reservation for this past Saturday and were sat immediately with a nice note on our table about our anniversary. Inside super nice modern restaurant with lots of seating and at the bar as well. Service was a 5 star for sure and our waitress made our experience pretty awesome. For starters we had the olives and homemade potato chips both were delicious. For dinner I had the lamb chops and my wife had their pork special. Both meals were very good but my only gripe would be the lamb chops were cut so thin that they did not come out medium rare like I wanted but still had great flavors. My wife's pork was a really good dish and she even let me sneak a bite. Overall fantastic experience l! I would for sure go back and I would highly recommend this place to any local or out of town guest for a truly great experience.

We decided to make reservations for Thanksgiving, & luckily got on the wait list & secured a res. for 6:30pm. A credit card was required to hold the res. Free covered parking was available off to the side of the restaurant, which was nice & convenient. Arriving it was quiet, but it seemed that the staff was busy. Our server was professional, if a bit stiff. Hostess also was setting tables, but I guess that they don't use tray service to reset as she was holding bread plates against her sweater before placing them on the tables. This didn't appear sanitary to us. Tables were beautifully set & elegant. Unfortunately, the small booths on the raised platform were claustrophobic & not comfortable, so we opted to move to a table w/chairs. The server was quite gracious to accommodate us. We ordered iced teas & we accepted the offer of lemon, but we declined the sugar, however the server still brought the sugar to the table. It took up unnecessary space. The amuse was a surprise, but also seemed to be prepared quite early in the day & had lost it's freshness. The prosciutto wrapped figs w/gorgonzola were oddly greasy & tough. The panko crusted goat cheese was also wet & not a nice texture from the barely covering panko. The mixed salad w/pomegranate pips, orange supremes & feta & the squash soup were both delicious & flavorful. Service appeared to be of a fine dining level, but our table was never de-crumbed, perhaps that is not a standard that they follow. Entrees arrived next. We got the Thanksgiving turkey w/ all the trimmings & the King Salmon. The salmon was crispy & delicious, served w/rice w/ imperceptible saffron & a corn/pepper pudding. The turkey was juicy, but we both remarked at how salty it tasted. Perhaps it was salt-brined to keep it moist, but I needed several refills of iced tea just to finish. The bread stuffing was generous & highly anticipated, but it did come off lackluster, w/o much flavor & an insufficient amount of gravy. The accompanying green beans, w/cream sauce, were still slightly too crunchy & several were grey in color. My disappointed came in the small ramekin of cranberry sauce as it was so minuscule to almost be missed on the plate. It was barely half full & I greatly would have enjoyed more as it was perfectly balanced. After dinner was cleared, we waited & waited for the desserts to arrive, w/ no offer of coffee & not sure why this course the timing was so much longer. I understand that the dessert course is classically served w/ a spoon, but a hard crust pecan tart (pie) is difficult to cut into w/ a spoon & shards of crust did fly across the table, still it was the most delicious item of the evening. The house made whipped cream had an odd texture, but excellent flavor. The chocolate mousse was a disappointment. Much to airy, but dense, almost cake-like, at the same time without the depth of chocolate that was expected. Another odd texture & it was not entirely consumed as the pecan tart was. Never did a manager appear in the dining room & although there wasn't anything outstand to comment on, it would have been nice to receive a holiday greeting from a manager at such a named fine dining restaurant. Yes, the server did check on us several times, but again, nothing so egregious to voice a complaint over & we did tip above 20%. Would we return? Yes, we have heard great things about their regular Italian menu & it will be nice to dine on the upper terrace come spring, but we will approach w/ appropriately lowered expectations. After posting this review, I received a tersely worded reply from Richard, the owner, of which he has since softened his response, but I saved the original reply here; "Glad to see you had the time to post this diatribe on every review site. Perhaps we should not have put you on our wait list - then neither of us would have been disappointed". No apology, no offer. I felt my review was fair, balanced & thorough & only posted on 2 sites, but I will now drop a star, due to his attitude & post additionally on TripAdvisor & more.

As you walk in, your eyes are attracted by the tranquil music and decor. Before mentioning the food I have to give a big shout out to the staff that made the service phenomenal. Starting with the house salad that was joined with savory creamy ranch (no photo), followed by the fried scallop appetizer. The main entrée was the Alaskan halibut combined with broccoli and ravioli. Compliments to the chef as well, in all this jewel of a restaurant is highly recommended.

This was the cherry on top of a lovely anniversary date during the time of COVID. We parked in the covered parking which is set aside just for Richards guests. We entered through a separate door in our masks and were escorted to the elevator. Currently all Richards guest are eating on the 2nd floor so they have access to the patio. We wanted patio seating but the only Available spots were in the sun and it was 102 that day. So we opted to eat inside. This was a bit of a bummer. You're clearly in a hotel conference room with some spaced out tables. The ambiance was definitely a zero. Also, they aren't pouring any draft beers since they don't have access to kegs upstairs. Not sure why they couldn't pour it downstairs and bring it up just like everything else but.... oh well. These were clearly COVID contributions so I detract no points for these things. Just worth mentioning that it's not as nice of an experience at the moment. The staff was nicely masked and gloved up. All guest wore masks away from their tables. Food was very yummy. We had the Fig Flatbread which was definitely my favorite thing of the night. The prosciutto was crunchy, the figs were chewy and the Gorgonzola was balanced out with honey glaze. It would make the perfect happy hour treat. I had the braised lamb. The lamb was very tender with a crisp exterior. The yogurt sauce and feta spinach was a perfect, creamy accompaniment to the meat. I loved the crispy chickpeas too. I could enjoy a lot more of those. My partner had the ribeye which I didn't even try because my dish was so delicious. He said it was a little heavy handed with the butter but beautifully cooked. Our server very sweetly brought us black cherry/chocolate gelato for an anniversary treat (for free!). The mix ins were delicious but neither of us liked the gelato. It was very icy and not as creamy as we expected. We can't wait to go back when things are a little more normal.

Best brunch ever! We were shocked by how delicious this was! I ordered the SHAKSHUKA and wow! Also my bottomless mimosa was filled over and over right on time! Our server, Danielle, was also great! She was fun to talk to!

This is truly one of the most under-appreciated and underrated restaurants in the entire Treasure Valley. My husband and I came here tonight for our last date night before our move to Texas. During our 3 years in Idaho, Richards became our favorite for the ribeye and the cannelloni. Truly the best rib eye in the valley, hands down, full stop. We love Chandlers for other reasons, but Richard's has its rib eye game down. Always beautifully grilled and perfectly seasoned. The quality of the meat speaks for itself. The staff has always been kind and attentive without being officious. The cannelloni, made with homemade sheet pasta is a revelation and worth the trip on its own. We had the tiramisu cheesecake for dessert and it was divine (pictured below.) It's surprising to us that this place isn't more busy, but hopefully others will notice and flock to this slightly hidden gem. Thanks Richard's for helping us celebrate our adieu to Idaho.

Is the brunch service acceptable for kids? Or is it similar to dinner service in which you don't see younger children

    Not a place for kids.

Has this business complied with ADA regulations in the bar?

No. Although built about 2016, some 25 years after the ADA became law, this bar layout does not comply. They did add standard height seating in the form of a fixed seating banguette / table at the far side of the bar. But then put other tables…

From the moment you step inside, the place has that quintessential speakeasy feel. The ambiance is dark, moody, and eclectic, with vintage touches throughout. One feature that really caught my eye was a stunning cove-like structure that added so much character to the space. The menu was just as impressive as the décor -creative, varied, and full of unique cocktails that felt thoughtfully designed rather than your standard bar offerings. They even have a few "secret" drinks hidden on the menu, and the staff will happily tell you how to find them, which is a fun touch.Since another reservation was due to arrive in about 40 minutes, we kept it to two cocktails, which was perfectly fine as we were only stopping in for a nightcap. Both drinks were beautifully crafted. I especially loved The Canvas ,it was bright, refreshing, and memorable. My husband wasn't quite as enthusiastic about his cocktail, though he's generally not one to send a drink back or complain. The staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our visit. Pricing felt fair for the quality of the cocktails and the overall experience.
