My 1.5 year old Maytag dishwasher stopped working and of course the warranty expired after 1 year. After getting no help from both Lowes and Maytag support Rich took time to troubleshoot with me over the phone and we got it working! Rich was amazing. I called at about 7:30 at night - my fridge wasn't turning on. I gave him the model number and he said he'd do some research. Turns out my fridge is slightly not the standard for some reason, so we commenced a multi-modal conversation where Rich emailed me the service manual, along with notes about where I should look for certain unclearly-worded things. He also requested text messages with photos of key features of the fridge. We were initially thinking the control board had burnt out. But while I was gathering materials for Rich (who was off and on the voice-phone with me throughout the next 90 minutes) I found some mouse damage to the cord that I hadn't seen before I called. I then took my fridge apart with full confidence that Rich would talk me through it all. Then, when I found a part that looked like it would be difficult to source (a power cord with several funny ends) he recommended that I go to Home Depot, get the other end of the cord, and wire-nut everything together to Frankenstein a repair that, in the end, will cost me under $20 if I am guessing correctly. What a guy! When I have a real problem, I will call Rich in a hot second. There's no customer service like he gave me tonight. read more

So far really great on the phone. He should be here later this afternoon so Ill amend this review if things dont go right. Worth mentioning two things about this guy. I thought I might want to drive the washer out to him and he said he only comes to see people but then gave me another business that will let me bring it too them. Very honest guy. Worth his fee to get it diagnosed as either something cheap that we can afford or not so we'll have to plan on buying a new machine or not. This is a great option for us since we are very strapped for cash. This is my first experience with Rich. He was able to come an hour earlier then the appointed time; he called before to ask if I was available. He was able to fix my dryer and gave me preventative maintenance advice. He also said he would give me advice on future appliance purchases. I'm planning to replace my almost 20 year old refrigerator and dishwasher. The repair cost was fairly reasonable for an appliance of 7 years of no problems. I'd definitely call Rich again for future appliance repairs. Just some advice about yelp. I also called Eagle Appliance Repair because they were highly rated and had the most reviews in my current location. Unfortunately they did not return my call. They are probably in high demand. So when choosing repair companies or companies like these--don't choose solely on most reviews or ratings alone. UPDATE: So I bought the factory addition that Rich recommended but I never called him back to install it. Today my girlfriend called to say the washer wasn't working again. I called Rich back and he came out same day. Guess what? Another damn bobby pin! Rich fixed the problem and installed the factory addition. I should have listened to him the first time. Straight forward, knowledgeable, and honest. Rich was able to diagnose my potential problem over the phone (something blocking the drain pump). He came to my house promptly and we discovered there was a bobby pin stopping the pump (which was still good.) Thus, I only paid for the labor and was not forced to replace parts I didn't need. Rich also recommended installing a factory addition which prevents objects from reaching the drain pump which I plan to buy as well. I'll even call him back to put it in. Rich is the rudest, most disrespectful person I have ever encountered. He got my renters and myself upset. Women who live alone should not let him work on their appliances, unless somebody else is there too. He repeatedly shouted at me and picked a fight. I tried to calm him down, with no luck. After an hour of his presence at ny rental house, I reminded him I had to leave for work. The job that he promised would take no more than 20 minutes, turned into an hour. The problem was not resolved at that point, and he demanded money. I had to leave him alone in my rental house with my renter, as I had to get to work. She and her husband were very upset that she was left alone in the house with an angry repairman. He frightened her, I also went to work angry. I hired "Rich" because he insisted he could inexpensively fix an Amana refrigerator for me. Everybody else told me the problem could not be fixed with a new relay, but I wanted to give him a chance to prove everyone wrong. The compressor was not coming on. He convinced me he could install a 3-in-1 switch to solve the problem. Said the install would take 20 minutes. I explained to him, up front, that I didn't have a lot of time to wait around for the compressor to kick in because I had to get to work. I clearly also explained I would be more than happy to pay him when I was certain the compressor was working again. I offered to: drive to his home to give him his money when I was sure the fridge was working and when I returned home from work. I offered to deposit the money into his checking account. I offered to pay him via paypal or mastercard. He refused all of my offers. The more I tried to calm him down, the more beligerent he became. He has a bad temper We waited almost an hour for the compressor, instead of 20 minutes. At that hour mark, the compressor was still not running. He assured me it was "fixed" and I should pay him. Having to leave for work, I told him I wasn't convinced yet it was fixed. I reiterated that I pay people when a job is complete. He demanded the money. According to him, it was in the defrost mode, and could be in that mode for several hours, before the compressor would come on. Again, I told him I couldn't pay until the compressor was up and running. I had told him this when I interviewed him over the phone. He continued yelling and carrying on, throwing a fit and getting everybody riled up. He went back inside and ranted some more, telling us he would remove the relay he just installed. I told him to get the relay and go home. I found out later that he installed the relay in the wrong place on the fridge. He didn't have the correct manual and he didn't understand how the defrost cycle works. Pay a little more for somebody who does not have anger issues. Maybe he had been drinking, now that I think about it. read more

I called Rich when my Liebherr refrigerator's freezer unit stopped cooling. He called me back quickly and apologized that he cannot get parts for Liebherr fridges but spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me, helping me identify the model, do some troubleshooting, find the warranty information online and recommended that I contact both Albert Lee (where I bought it 6 years ago) and the manufacturer in order to find a local authorized repair service. A few other people I called simply told me "we don't fix Liebherr." Rich went above and beyond and sincerely felt bad that he couldn't help more.
