Didn't need an appointment and they had new front tires on my car within 20 minutes. The guy who was helping me spoke no English so the lady working behind the desk translated his 5 minute explanation into "you need new tires." Showed me what they had in stock and what they could order and have by the next day. Minus 2 stars cause I'm not totally sure I needed new tires. I had been told by the dealership that my tires had some good miles left in them but soon after the front one sprung a leak. I went to Rich's for a patch and instead got new tires. Overall, I'm happy with the tires and speedy work, but not sure of their necessity. read more

Soooo yesterday, one of my used tires busted =/ I was disappointed of course but that is the risk I took when purchasing used tires....I went back to Rich's and told them what happened...I told them that I of course understood that I have no warranty on the tire but asked for their help in finding an affordable replacement. The guy didn't say anything, got to work finding the tire, installed it and charged me NOTHING. Yes, even a used tire shouldn't pop in less than a week but stuff happens and I was glad that they were nice enough to bend the rules to keep me happy. My new favorite Tire Place. Lately, I have been keeping an eye out for that special, rare, authentic, quality of service very few businesses seem to possess these days. When I do, I login to Yelp and wax on about them. Unlike many folks leaving reviews on Yelp, I do not generally waste my time writing about crappy service experiences...Its not that I won't do it, but maybe its better sometimes to just focus more energy on the Good Ones...like these guys. Authenticity; Good Service; Appreciation: These character traits, truly good and positive, solidify the idea that there really is a difference between good and evil..there is no moral relativity in this. :-) The crew at Rich's Tire Service represent and personify what it means to be the best in their field. I dropped by, with less than ten minutes remaining in their long work day (0700-1900!); my intention was to ask if they had a specific tire in inventory...It turned out they did have; I asked if I could come by in the morning and drop off the old rim and tire, to have them replace it... I did not expect the response of "lets do it right now, it'll only take a minute!" In this day and age, when the typical shop or box store has the security gate pulled half way down over the entrance, to shoo away last minute Customers and hasten those still within the confines of their "business"...it is REFRESHING to experience the attitude of the guys at RTS...! The young guy who helped me (his name escapes me now) was clearly not the owner... nor the manager... just a worker bee...but clearly one proud of his work, and happy to help... Yelp whoring seems like my favorite activity these days.. When in doubt, yelp! Therefore, when my boyfriend took me to a "good and cheap tire place", I was skeptical. It was reasonably priced, and I had no problems afterward. Cool, but never thought about it again. However, I happened to move close to this place, so I came here every time boyfriend and I had problems with our tires. We always took our two Toyotas here, and every time, I left happy with happy tires that can endure our crazy driving (at least for a while). Still though, never thought about looking this place up on Yelp. and then Labor Day came... I woke up thinking about who's going to be open for my tire that's growing a bubble after I hit the curb at 40 mi/ hour (I know that's dumb..) Having move again to Los Gatos this time, the first thing that came to my mind is actually the "tire place that I never even bothered to remember the name of, nor Yelped about" in the faraway Mountain View. Me: Where is that tire place in Mountain View that we always go to? Boyfriend: Don't know the address. Me: Name? Boyfriend: Not sure. I Googled "101 and Middlefield tire", and Rich's Yelp site was the first one that popped out! The best of all is they are open today on Labor Day! While there, I chitchatted with some customers and we all agreed this place is the best. The mechanics always tell me the problems and say I don't have to change it. I can wait it out. Never pushy. One day, boyfriend got a nail in the tire, and they patched it up for 25 bucks when we were about to bleed our wallet for a new tire. I need 2 tires! I called Rich's Tire Service at 11am and the receptionist gave me a quote over the phone. I got there at 11:30am and before I could plant myself in front of the TV, I saw my car jacked up and the 2 rear tires missing. I watched an episode of some mindless reality show and my car was done! $215 for two Kelley something-or-other tires (including labor). I have a 2004 Honda Civic and she's much happier now. read more

So my weekend started off after work with me getting a flat on the way home from work. Major suckage. So it was late, so I waited until the next morning. They are a few blocks away from my house and a friend told me to check it out. Apparently all they sell are tires and they do it well. They tell you to pull up, they take the tire, patch, fill with air and ask for 10 bucks. Seriously no hassle no run around, no, "You want a oil change and premium service" nothing. Girlfriend had a giant screw pierce the tire. We came in on the dot at closing time and they were very friendly. We were told it would take 20 minutes but only took 10 minutes and we were out the door. Had not 1 but 2 bad experiences with this place. I wanted to wheels switched out in my car (I bought new ones to replace curb rashed rims). I wanted the tires mounted again just as they were before. First, the technician put on one of the tires backwards (with the inner side of the tire facing outside). It wasn't until I pointed it out that he fixed it. Second, I had to come back again because the wheels were not properly balanced (they started rattling at around 75 MPH, a sign of improper balancing). The technician also had a poor understanding of tire balancing (claiming that pairs of wheels need to be balanced together. Whatever that means).They charged me again for this work. Unfortunately, the wheels are still not properly balanced. I'm just going to go to a professional and get the work done by them. Stay away from this place if you want professionals. These guys my be able to give you a good deal, but if you value your time or value professionalism, stay away. read more

I got a flat tire and took it to a mechanic to have it fixed but they told me that my valve was broken and I should take it to Rich's tire. i went there and didn't have to wait at all he had my tire off and fixed the problem in less then 10 minutes. I asked him about a tire for one of my other cars and he quoted me for new and used. "Wow, is that installed?" I asked him and he said "yes". Will surely be back. They don't have high performance or well known american quality tires but for around the town driving they should do fine. read more

Great place to fix a slow leak. I had a slow leak in my car and dropped by in the morning around 8am. The guy pulled the tire off my car, found a screw that had jammed into the tire, plugged the hole with a plug, and remounted the tire. I paid $10 and was on my way by 8:10am. 10 dollars and 10 minutes. Can't beat that. read more

I got my rear tires replaced for $185 and about a 20 minute wait. I'll definitely come back, no hesitation. So happy with Rich's. We had a leakage in a tire on the very day we were leaving for Yosemite the day after Thanksgiving. Professional guys, they had no waiting time (Costco next door said 2 hours)... Identified two nails stuck in the faulty tire in seconds and fixed it. All in all, it took 5 minutes, no exaggeration. Paid by card, and we were on our way. BTW, they had a small covered shed on one side where I waited with the kids while my husband talked to the guys at the shop. They are indeed truely as good as what others are saying. I came here after reading the reviews. The service is friendly, fast, and affordable. I wished I have known about them earlier. I had a flat that was fixed with a plug at another place which started leaking air slowly again. That place didn't specialize in tire repair and told me about Rich's at Old Middlefield. So I checked them out on yelp and decided to go there in the morning after buying a tire off of craig's list since the other place told me that my tire is beyond repair. Rich's tire probably could have saved me time and money if I went to them first, but I got a pretty decent brand new tire for $25 which is an excellent value. Rich's mount and balanced for me for $15 and it was quick too. Probably 15 minutes or so. Definitely will return for any tire related services. read more

I came in today to fix a slowly leaking tire after reading yelp reviews that they do flat tire fixes for $15. It turned out that my tire was fine but it was the dent on the wheel that caused the leak. They helped me fixed the problem in a few minutes and didn't even charge me for the quick fix. Efficient, convenient, cheap, and no upselling nonsense. My tire was slowly leaking air. I drove in with no appointment, the guy jacked up my minivan, took off the tire, saw a screw, ran the tire through a soap bath, patched the hole, refilled the tire, reran it through the soap bath to double check, and put the tire back on. All in 8 minutes. For $15. I wish all services worked this way. read more

ooh yelp how you have failed me, thinking that this place was great all around because it practically had 5 stars, but after my experience oh now I beg to differ. After coming home I realized I was ripped off. I had a suspicion that not only did they not have the Kuhmo or Yokohama tires that I was looking for, but the guy inside was charging me a total of $225, when the previous guy told me $218 total everything (labor, disposal, tax, and some cal fee-?) what the heck is a cal fee?) and I only bought two tires. They didn't even have much of a selection to choose from; they were all really expensive for tires that I haven't even heard of. And the so called "cheapest" was $80! and it looked like it was already used, and the thread looked so cheap and being a woman and not knowing much about tires shows forth something. And to top it off they didn't have a good warranty, except for 55,000 mile. I asked if they would replace my tires for flats/nails, rotation, alignment but they offered no such thing not like some American Tires. So I went back to yelp to figure out how yelp could have possibly steered me wrong and I noticed that most of the 4 and 5 star reviews were given in 2008! grrrr But one thing I can't complain about is that they were nice, and somewhat honest. They told me that I only needed the front two tires (which I already knew it was a test hehe) changed because the back two tires were still good for another 25,000 miles. The guy in the front ended up charging me $218 and so he trusted the guy that gave me the first quote. Another positive side is that they were quick and replaced my tires in 25 minutes. But this place is definitely not a 4 .5 star place. read more

PLUS he did not try to sell me on those spinning wheels.. or what ever they are called! I am 52 years old and don't that kind of crap on my car. "OH look Granny's got wheels!" NOT!!.
