Big shout out to Chris in the Volvo service department. My car's battery died last Friday morning and was towed into the service department at around 2pm Friday afternoon. Chris was able to get a diagnostic and battery replacement before they closed at 6pm that same day. All for less than $500 for parts and service. Side note: my battery was last replaced in September 2020, and my rebate had not yet expired. Chris got me a few dollars back. read more

These people are terribly incompetent when doing paperwork on a new vehicle. New xc90 purchased 12/31/2025, today is 4/14/2026 and still trying to get the DMV the paperwork to get registered. This is difficult to review. I have an older Volvo S80 which had a recall for airbags. It also had a srs light which stayed on. So I looked around at dealerships and felt this was my best choice. I made an appointment and liked that they gave me a quick date. Now once there I did get informed they thought I needed a diagnostic on the srs light which may not be related to my recall issue. The recall was free but the diagnostic would not be unless it related to the recall. I went ahead and said I'd wait there since this did not seem like a time consuming issue. The good part was they did get me in and despite being busy they squeezed me in on their schedule. Sure enough it was promptly done while I waited and I was out of there within 2 hours. The place is attractive and they have a very nice waiting area. However the diagnostics cost was $220 and while expected I did not expect that they would say they could not turn off the srs light. There was no replacement part available so I left with the recall fixed but my srs light still on with no solution to that issue at all! Now I do have an older vehicle but it's been a great car and I am mystified as what do I do? Who do I find to fix my problem if not a Volvo dealership? I appreciated the effort they made to accomodate my situation but I left there quite disturbed at not having everything resolved. Call me disappointed. read more

I went to test drive a used xc90 and they pulled it up and it smelled horrible of smoke and there were ashes on the ground in the front passengers seat. The sales agent then blamed it on the lead mechanic saying he was a chain smoker. Doesn't seem like a team environment or like they care about the cars if they smoke in them. read more

Rickenbaugh Volvo Service has undergone a drastic transformation over the last 3 years. The garage been remodeled with slick, modern desks, manned by millennial service representatives. The "old guard," Walter, Jeff, Dwight, etc, were retired. Tenure-wise, the OGs probably had well over 100 years of expertise and customer relationships. The overhaul has sadly resulted in poor customer service and satisfaction. There's high turnover. It's impossible to reach your assigned service manager; no one picks up the phone, so be prepared to leave voicemails, that will likely go unanswered. Service personnel resign regularly, leaving customers stranded with unanswered questions. Volvo service, overall, is inattentive and slow to respond. My latest experience was 5 months long. I needed snow tires (Pirelli $$$corpions), a tire change, and a replacement cap for my car's tow line. The service was especially poor. After months of no follow-up, I ended up calling the parts department to talk to Walter--one of Volvo's Service OGs. Walter connected me to Kevin, the Tire Manager, who's been with Volvo for over 40 years. In 10 minutes, my service needs were resolved. Kevin personally took care of my tire change. This was the level of customer service that characterized Rickenbaugh Volvo for many years. However, Rickenbaugh Volvo's efforts to streamline operations and employ affordable staff has led to a clear decline in service and client satisfaction. I hope Rickenbaugh gets its $hit together soon. My vehicle is no longer under warranty, so unless the service department notably improves, I have no reason to continue my long-standing relationship with this business. read more

Chris always gives me the straight advice as to exactly what needs to be done, does a great job of explaining, looks for the most cost effective way to get it done, and does not try to oversell. Update: I was contacted by Nick Pacifico (Dealer) 2 days after my initial visit to Rickenbaugh Volvo Cars and he assured me he took the time to address my encounter as well as my interaction with management and staff. I explained my experience and he took my dissatisfaction seriously and reassured me that was not standard operating procedure for the dealership. After we spoke I was content to give their business another shot and was pleased to meet him in person and with the service provided by Cris, Rick and Billy. This was my first visit to this beautiful dealership to have my "new" used 2011 Volvo S60 serviced as I just purchased it. Nick is AMAZING!! Very helpful in explaining what was going to be done and checked. Everyone there is super nice and friendly, the loaner SUV was so nice, and from the moment I pulled into the shop until I exited the shop everything went smoothly. Instead of charging me for something they may have been able to fix, it was suggested to go back to another business to have them do it for free. They also did an oil change (WAY more affordable then I thought and less than Jiffy Lubes price!!) washed my car, and fixed the sunroof that had a clogged line. Very affordable and the extra personalized customer service made it an even more pleasant experience. I also received a follow up email the next day, making sure all is well! Once again, more issues arise with the vehicle and the only response I can get is a bunch of "we don't knows." But don't worry give us this much money so we can start guessing some more! The vehicle has had the same ongoing issues with the suspension and steering, the vibration at idle (most likely a harmonic balancer issue) and air from vents being lackluster. To add to that the rear view camera doesn't work and the Cross traffic alert system error is always on. The previous visit we were told the front park assist sensor needed to be replaced due to a rock chip, so I replaced them. The issue went away for a couple days and then the cross traffic alert error message came up. Of course being a certified pre owned warranty means nothing to the good people in the service department, since nothing is covered by Volvo CPO warranty, even when they don't know what is actually wrong with the vehicle, but don't worry because Volvo doesn't cover it! Let me just throw money at you for a big I don't know !? Are you kidding me, you're telling me before you know what's wrong with it it's not covered, and I need to shell out money to someone who couldn't spot my torn motor Mount from my previous review? Assuming something is not covered, and instead of being honorable and trying to assist your customers to the highest level possible, there's nothing but money grabs and greed. I will never buy a certified pre owned Volvo again, since, according to this facility at least, they don't cover anything. After speaking with Keith and Nick and driving around with the technician for a while who pointed out the issues were normal with engine vibration, clunking over bumps and the transmissions adaptive cycles I paid for my oil change and left hoping that there would be something overlooked during the course of the last couple days. I spent about half an hour looking at the car and testing the voltage at the parking sensors and confirming they were receiving proper signals, I removed the 2 parking sensors in the front middle bumper and inspected the wiring and connections. All the connections and wiring were good and receiving proper signals, I had a whole set of parking sensors and I decided to swap them out ONCE again with new sensors. To my delight the park assist warning error went away and the sensors were again operational as normal. This still did not resolve my parking aid camera not turning on when the vehicle would be put in reverse. After going through the motions with the technician he advised me it's probably related to the parking sensor issue. Come to find out, once again, that is not the case. I went through the owners manual and found a 5 amp fuse under the glove box for the park system camera. While at first glance the fuse does not appear to be faulty I did find it to be burnt on the metal on one side, I decided to just put another spare 5 amp fuse in and low and behold the system works as normal now. I can't express my frustrations enough and the fact that now I've been led down a shady path. If I was to authorize the $360 initial estimate to remove my bumper and check my wiring, could I trust that an honest estimate would be presented to me to resolve the repair ? Based on the previous experiences I have had, at this rate, no. It takes 2 minutes to pop the front parking sensors out and replace them, and test the wiring. I am glad I am competent enough in my abilities as a previous technician and service adviser to be able to troubleshoot these issues on my own, I feel bad for the people who lack the knowledge and are blindly taken advantage of. I hate that I've had to make repairs on my own now for a vehicle that clearly has design flaws for parking sensors on the front of the vehicle, a motor Mount that was blatantly denied previously , and 5 minutes worth of work to check a fuse on my own that probably should've been spotted way sooner. I'm disappointed the motor Mount set the trend of what I should expect, and this is not what you should expect anytime you're in for service. I appreciate their willingness to explain everything, and go over the little stuff, I don't appreciate the unwillingness to repair the vehicle in an honest, reputable fashion. I paid out of pocket for an oil change, I feel it's only right I should be reimbursed for the motor Mount that I paid for which should've been covered by Volvo CPO warranty. read more

Service Department had my car for 7 days for a 30k service. I left numerous messages and no return call. No one in the department could update me on the status. Upon completion & pickup- car was not vacuumed nor washed. Very dirty exterior. It was clean when I dropped it off. I noticed the check engine light was on 10 minutes on my drive home. I called the service department but only could get voicemails. I returned the vehicle to have the warning light evaluated. Service advisor was immediately defensive and commented that the light was not on when it left and was not their fault. The transport driver sped away in the car to have it looked at... burning tire rubber in the garage and on the street. 1 hour evaluation determined that I need to pay $900 to replace a sensor. Service department charged me 1.9% to use my credit card. total shit show. Service manager should be demoted to the car wash. This place has lost my future service and new car sales. read more

I hate to write this, because I absolutely love my volvo. But I've been absolutely disappointed in this dealership from the start. I signed up for the Volvo xc40 car subscription. Seemed like the new wave of how to lease cars. Was so excited. And then it was one dropped ball after another. The dealership would call me asking for the wrong person. The people at the dealership didn't know about the subscription program and what it offered. I was told that it would cover all costs including registration and the day I pick it up the dealership tells me I have to pay for registration. They had me sign the wrong forms so someone had to drop off forms to my house the next day. All of which I would have let go and just ignored because I do love the car. Then 8 months later I get a toll bill for 55 dollars that was originally sent to Volvo for 2 dollars because my car still had the preregistered tags on it. Instead of contacting me to let me know, 8 months passes and a 2 dollar toll bill is 55 dollars. I paid it because i didn't want it to increase more but I left two messages with Volvo- one to my sales person and one to apparently head of sales, Terry? Neither of whom called me back. After reaching Rick finally last week- he said to email him the bill and he would call me back in two days. Honestly I just wanted to provide feedback on the process and understand what had happened, and no one has called me back over a week later. It's as if they don't care about anything but the sale of the car- which I expected more from Volvo truthfully. I would not choose this dealership again. I am not aware of ever being lied to by a new car manager when attempting to buy a new car. Perhaps they were better liars than the manager here. After pointing out the wrinkled leather on both sides of the driver's seat, the manager's lie was just to ridiculous to be believed! He told us that it came from the factory that way and that's how all of the driver's seats come in on the XC60's. Silly!! All our salesman, my husband, and I had to do is walk out the door and look in the windows of the 3 closest XC60's to prove that wasn't true. We really wanted to buy the car with the bad seat. If the manager wanted to sell the car, a $1000 or even $500 discount for the bad seat would have resulted in our purchasing the car. We think that the real problem was that we wanted to pay cash for the car, instead of finance the car to enable Rickenbaugh to get a percentage of the finance fee. The salesperson was great, just a rude, arrogant, and unmotivated manager. read more

Buying our car was great. But, if there's problem with the car later - go somewhere else. We've not had a closing fuel door in several years because they can't figure out how to fix it. Nothing happened to it other than that one day the mechanism just stopped latching - no accident, it wasn't bent or damaged. They would be happy to completely replace it for a couple hundred dollars to 'try and fix it'! Yeah. No damage, no idea why it's not working, but they're happy to blow our money on attempts to figure it out. On a ~2yr old (at the time) car. Yeah, I'm glad I didn't decide to pay them for this one after the first failed attempt at fixing it in hindsight. Another time we specifically asked to check the battery because it was acting like the battery was low - they told us it was fine at the service. A couple days later, guess where I was? Dropping off the car with a dead battery after having it jumped at the dealership. They said their diagnostic equipment was giving them a false positive - but apparently the customer telling them there was a problem with the car starting was not enough to actually believe there was a problem and maybe their equipment could be wrong. This was purely lazy and a big waste of our time. They were happy to slap us with the minimum labor charge of $72 for the 5 minute task of changing the battery though! They just did a $400 dollar repair to 'fix' what was causing our check engine light to come on - nope, it was on again a couple days later. Then they tell us it's not even what they were trying to fix - now it's the catalytic converter. So what was I spending money to 'fix' before then? Your service quotas? Come on. Of course we're now paying money to figure out what their 'service' department screwed up diagnosing in the first place. NOT ANYMORE. 0/3 Can't even fix a fuel door. That's tells you everything right there. I'm struggling to find reasons to keep coming here at this point when the problems we've had have 100% of the time turned out poorly. read more

We were in Denver from Los Angeles. We have had our XC60 for about 6 weeks. We stopped to get gas and the gas filler cover would not open. Apparently, there is no manual override. I googled Volvo and Rickenbaugh was the closest. This was a Saturday so I was really worried we would have to spend the weekend waiting to get this repaired. NOPE!!! These folks were so nice. The service writer had someone come out right away who disabled the lid so we could get gas. He also replaced the battery in our key fob that was acting up. The charge? ZERO!!! If I lived in Denver this would be my go-to dealership. They had us in and out in less than 15 minutes. When you are on the road, car problems are your biggest nightmare. Came in today to look at 2016 Volvo XC90 R design. We really liked that we were able to look at cars without being hounded by sales associates. Once we were ready to deal on a car we were met at the door by Tracy Palmer. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the cars we wanted to look at, grabbed my license and got the keys. We went on a test drive and back to the dealer. Asked if they could appraise my car and take me to a dealer down the street to look at a car my wife wanted to see. Without a hesitation Tracy said no problem to my keys to the manger for appraisal and we were off. I would completely recommend Tracy if you are looking to buy a car from Rickenbaugh Volvo. I feel she went above and beyond to make my experience great. We are still trying to finish my deal but I'm sure she will get us were we need to be with the timeline we are working with before moving out of state. read more

Jon Symonds who works for Rickenbaugh Volvo helped me get more money from the claim I filed with Allstate. I took his Jon's advice and Allstate issued me a second check. We lost a tire in Glenwood Springs, Colorado by hitting a pot hole on I-70 East. We were on our way from Southern California to Ohio when it happened. As it turned out, Discount Tire has not replaced the wheel lock to our glove compartment when they replaced one of our tires a few months before the trip. There was no way to get the tire off to replace it other than driving to the nearest dealership in Denver a couple of hundred miles away. Volvo on call Set us up to go to a different dealership in Denver, but when we called the other dealership, they said they couldn't service the car for 5 days. We called Rickenbaugh and spoke with Rick Pickens, who ordered the tire for us and had everything waiting when we arrived at the dealership in the tow truck. The wheel was replaced and we were back on the road in less than 30 minutes. Shout out to the general manager @ Ricken Baugh for inviting us into the showroom and fixing us refreshments while we waited. They have followed up timely and appropriately to complete the "owe" items from time of delivery. Like many people over the years I had lost most of my trust in automobile dealerships. Last year I reluctantly bought a new Volvo direct from Rickenbaugh Volvo instead of using my usual purchasing company. Their prices were so much better than how I usually bought that I had a hard time passing it up. Not only were their prices good, but Mike, our salesman did everything he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it and was honest and transparent. We ended up with some mechanical issues with the new car and had to deal with service more than I would have liked, but Rickenbaugh's service was beyond great each time we had to deal with them. All of the service reps were great but I dealt with Nick the most and he was perfect every time. When we decided to replace the one year old car with a newer version of the same car the dealership took car of us FAR beyond anything that I could have imagined. Sir Nicholas and I recently bought an automobile that I like to refer to as "Ephraim's car." That's because whomever has Ephraim gets to drive this car now that he's big enough to have a car seat that sits up and is a pain in the ass to move from one vehicle to the other. Ephraim was also the reason we bought this new car as I have a Mini (fun to drive, hard to insert kid into car seat) and Nick's car is so old it has stone wheels and you peddle with your feet for the gas. Okay, okay, that may be a slight exaggeration, but you get my drift. So, Ephraim's car is a Volvo that we bought from a very nice gentleman named Rick at Rickenbaugh Volvo. (No, it isn't Rick Rickenbaugh either. I asked.) Rick was super helpful - taking us on test drives, telling us about safety features, options, financing rates, any car information we needed really. While you may wonder what kind of inventory a car dealership in Cap Hill (where space is scarce) may have, worry not friends. They have a lot of choices because they have a nearby warehouse and a book full of the cars that are out there. Rick who helped us out with the car looking and buying and then the woman who helped us fill out all the paperwork were both super nice and very helpful. Two important pieces to dealing with folks selling you a car. They also have a selection of used cars and carry Cadillacs as well if you are looking for either of those. Since our Volvo has a few years of free maintenance I'm sure we'll be back in for that at least. And based on all the great reviews for service on a Volvo here it'll be just as good of an experience. So, I made a phone call... Yep...talked to the service manager, John. After explaining the situation, he spoke with the technician and service consultant guy - they of course said that my story was contrasting to theirs...yadda yadda yadda. However, he did offer to refund me the labor portion of that particular repair. It was certainly a nice gesture and I accepted. I bumped them up one star because I am happy I received a partial refund, but none of that would have happened had I not "made the call." Oh and the waiting area still sucks. Ha! read more
