I've had my XC70 serviced many times in the last few years at Rickenbaugh (switched to them after being less than enthralled by Sil-Terhar where I purchased the car). However, I'm writing this review because just recently, the guys at Rickenbaugh really pulled out all the stops for me, going way, way above and beyond in my opinion. At time of purchase I had opted for an extended warranty that was good through 100,000 miles. Recently I had experienced some mysterious loss of oil and a sense that the car's power had diminished over how it used to drive. It took some time, but the folks at Rickenbaugh figured it out, and concluded that the entire engine was shot and should be replaced. Luckily this should of course be covered by the warranty. Here's where things got interesting. The car was over 99,000 miles. And the warranty folks were less than keen it seemed to cooperate. In some respects I don't blame them, after all, they make money by NOT paying out. But still, they wanted me to pay for the costs of tearing down the engine (~$2000) to prove that a part they covered on the warranty was indeed responsible for the issue Rickenbaugh had found and not something else. My service manager contact, Keith Smerchek, engaged the Volvo rep and worked some magic, ending up with the result that they covered those costs. This ended up proving what the folks at Rickenbaugh were already pretty sure of: the engine had indeed failed in a way that should be covered by the warranty. Now the real fun started. Keith was off on vacation and the warranty folks were less than keen to provide us with a brand new replacement engine. Thanks are due to the Rickenbaugh Volvo service manager, John, who invested a ton of energy working with them until they agreed to pay out for the teardown, a brand new engine and the installation thereof. All in, a total of nearly $11,000 covered by the warranty, and due in no small part to the tenacious work of Keith and John. I just had an incredible experience in purchasing my new Volvo from Rick Garcia at Rickenbaugh Volvo yesterday. Rick was incredibly responsive to a an inquiry I made online about a particular vehicle. He was prompt and knowledgable on the phone and In emails and I was able to quickly make an appt with him and test drive the same day. Rick has a very thorough knowledge base about Volvo's and was an absolute pleasure to work with on our purchase. No high pressure sales tactics or feelings of up selling. He also had some great insight in to trading in our other luxury SUV that allowed me to get more back for my trade in! Excellent customer service before, during, and after the sale. As a healthcare worker, I greatly appreciated the Covid policies/procedures they were following while still providing me a very detailed walk through of all of the features of my car and helping me to personalize my settings before driving off the lot. I had some volvo repair work done here. One thing that I really like about their service department is that they answer any and all questions I have. I was driving cross-country and in Rapid City, SD the car had smoke coming out the exhaust. Not good. Long story short: no one in SD works on Volvos and the one that claimed to told me nothing was wrong with it, so I had to drive to Denver. In SD there were rumors that it was the turbo charger, the service rep here that I talked to was fantastic at asking me questions and letting me know that it was pretty unlikely (spent time on the phone going over all possibilities). I went from $7k estimate in SD, to $120 for a couple of hoses and even got some discount on the labor because it was so minor they felt bad charging me full for the diagnostic. read more

Repeat customer, I brought our older V40 in for some badly needed brake work and a known issue with the suspension. The up-front estimate was well thought out and Mark, our service advisor, was patient and courteous in explaining the work to be done. He was very helpful in finding a ride home. I did receive a call when the estimate changed, but only increased by five percent after they looked up details on the suspension work, and still remained well within our budgeted cost. The most pleasant surprise was settling-up after the work was done. Thanks to the additional efforts of Mark's team, they were able to keep labor costs down, which came to a bottom line of 20 percent *less* than the estimate; on time and under budget! All that, and a complimentary power wash to boot. This is the ONLY place in Denver, or the whole Front Range, to bring your beloved Volvo! read more

Had a flat tire two blocks away from here. Tried calling twice to see if I could get it replaced here and was disconnected both times. I drove the car to their service garage and the technician literally laughed at me because I wasn't in a Volvo or Cadillac. He refused to walk over to my car to check the tire specs and I ended walking back and forth multiple times. They didn't have my tires in stock so I ended up getting my car towed (no spare with new Ford's these days). No big deal on not having the tires. Super disappointed in the staff and lack of empathy on the Friday before Christmas. It shouldn't matter if I don't drive a Volvo, tires are tires and I'm also a potential future customer. I'll never be returning here for service or a Volvo purchase in the future. read more

First time hare. I was given rude service by another Volvo dealership also on Broadway. This guy was rude and informed me that I must have called the wrong place. The soonest they could get me in was two weeks. For brakes. In the meantime, my brake lights are out. I called Dwight at Rickenbaugh. He explained they are only open until 1PM today. He checked out all the lights and said he'd get them all done immediately. Wow. I told him about my brakes needing done and that I knew it might take some time to get on the schedule. Their service department is sub par. I've given them plenty of time to make up for their lack of customer service. Any time I have to deal with them I know it's going to be unpleasant. My 2012 Volvo S60 literally went out on me on the interstate. I told them what my sensors said on the phone and they stated they had never even heard of that message so it should be ok to drive from Highlands Ranch to downtown...I clearly didn't get far before my power steering, brakes, and engine went out. Thankfully I knew something wasn't right and was going incredibly slow. No accident occurred. Fast forward 2 weeks and they could never tell me what happened. They said I needed a new battery but a new battery doesn't cause all of that. I wouldn't have been able to start the car Here we are a year later. My car has the check engine light on and I call and explain what's going on. I also explain the cars history. Walter explained to me that I couldn't bring it in until Monday. I told him that wasn't good enough and that I don't want to end up dead or like what happened last time. He told me there wasn't anything he could do. They were too busy. In my opinion, if you're going to operate a facility in a large metropolitan area you need to staff and prepare for call ins/emergency. I come from Nashville and you didn't even need an appointment at the dealership and they got you in and out faster than Rickenbaugh. They have officially lost my business and I'm selling my Volvo. Since I took my business elsewhere and was treated with the utmost respect. They diagnosed the issue in 5 MINUTES! They asked me if the car ever stuttered or acted like it was stalling when starting it. I told them yes and in fact I brought the car to Rickenbaugh 2.5 years ago for this and THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG!!!! Since my car is no longer under warranty (it was 2.5 years ago) I had to pay $200 for the issue Voltek found. They were incredible, friendly, and knowledgeable. My husband and I stopped by to look at the XC90. We walked in to the showroom at 11:00 on a Monday. There were salespeople everywhere. They were not busy. No one approached us, not even a welcome or hello. We sat in several vehicles and spent about 20 minutes in the showroom. Not one person approached us. Was is because we were dressed down after being at the gym? Because my husband is African American? Because we pulled up in an older xterra? I'm not sure. But it's disappointing. We love the XC90 and will buy one...from McDonalds in Littleton. read more

On the sales side, I felt the Volvo brand of quality was evident throughout the showroom and my dealings with my salesman. There was no pressure to buy at all, and I was very impressed by his offer for me to take the demo model home overnight. He seemed willing to let me test drive as much as I like and followed up promptly to emails and phone calls. Overall, I'd say it was the most pleasant car buying experience I've ever had. On the service side, I'm not so enthusiastic. They quoted me nearly twice the price for a strut replacement than I wound up paying at an independent garage. The flexibility of the service manager in scheduling my appointment. When my assigned service manager was busy with another customer, a different service agent stepped in and asked me if he could process me in. He asked how about my day and asked what time I would be in my car. The vehicle was ready exactly when he said it would be done. The maintenance/repair costs were very reasonable and he offered advice for the next time I should come in. All this was done professionally, using my name, remembering that I have been in previously and the reason why my father and I have been coming to here for well over a decade. read more

The Volvo broke down today. And just out of warranty, too, wouldn't you know. At first I thought the huge puddle of black liquid under the car was motor oil. Then I saw a message that the coolant was so low I shouldn't turn on the engine, so I guessed the big black puddle must be radiator fluid. I had it towed to Rickenbaugh's Volvo service center in Denver and received a call from Dwight in the service department a couple hours later. It turns out that the oil cooler, which is part of the radiator, blew out and when that happened, the coolant and the motor oil all got mixed together and poured out on the pavement. Well, that's a major repair job for a car that's out of warranty. Volvo, however, is taking care of it totally out of good will because, they say, "that's not supposed to happen." Thank you Volvo! And thank you to my Volvo service guy, Dwight, at Rickenbaugh's Volvo in Denver, who talked it out with Volvo. read more

October 2014, I blew a fuse in my cigarette lighter with my GPS on my S80 Volvo while out of town. I called my local dealer Rickenbaugh in Denver and was told by the service manager Dwight that the fuse location was in the manual. Long story short I called Dwight a second time without any success. It was not in the manual and I was unable to fix the fuse. I attempted to pull out fuses see if any were blown. As it turned out the blown fuse was in another area under the dash board and you needed a star screwdriver to remove the panel. No customer service at all. I was able to stop in Bob Penkhus Volvo in Colorado Springs and spoke with the service manager Andy Morrison and Master Tech Jimmy. Within 15 minutes they had replaced my fuse vacuumed and washed my vehicle. Outstanding service and I highly recommend this dealership for its personnel and customer service. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but how I felt leaving Rickenbaugh Volvo yesterday left me inclined to let others know just how they treated me. I was treated less than mediocre to say the least. I walked in excited about a car. I was led to a salesperson, Tammie, and she led me to the car. On the way to the car I expressed my concern that it had been on the market for 109 days and she quickly responded "well we only keep the best of the best and sell the best of the best, so I'm certain there are no issues with it." Okay, on to look at it. As we walked I talked about my credit situation, which is less than great. I have always had wonderful credit, but due to some unfortunate circumstances in the last couple years, my credit took a downturn. My dad was willing to help me out in financing the car and another dealership had already gotten us approved together for a car. I didn't end up buying that car because it turned out to have some mechanical issues when I went to get it checked out. However, Tammie wasn't hearing it. She said I'd probably not get approved there at her dealership because they didn't work with "special financing companies" like other dealerships did and my dad couldn't buy the car for me because that was a straw buy. She was hesitant to even let me look at the car, but she did; the whole time asking me questions about my credit. No offer to let me test drive or to talk to financing, just tried to rush me out the door, telling me my DAD could apply for financing online and then I could come back. Man, did I feel like a loser. No other dealership I've ever been to has made me feel this way. Usually, they are busting at the seams to try to make a deal happen for you. I was extremely disappointed with the customer service I received and the little effort made on Tammie's part to even look into my credit or see if a financing deal could be made. The car on her lot is the car I really wanted and I would've bought it yesterday if she would've worked with me and I know she could've made it happen, because I went right down the street to McDonald Volvo where they treated me nicely, with respect and dignity, and immediately tried to work with me. I have a new car today and I AM on the loan. Thank you McDonald Volvo! Thanks for nothing Rickenbaugh Volvo. I can't believe you think the way you operate is okay and respectful. You lost a deal yesterday, simply because you didn't want to waste your time on someone who wasn't the 'best of the best' credit wise. Shame on you. read more

Long story short.... I dropped my car off before work, brought my xtra key to pick it up after work, as I was instructed to. I walked over after work to get my car, only to find it wasn't where I was told it would be! So I was completely stranded after work with no way to get home, and no way to get to my puppy's surgery at 7am the next morning!! I called the police because I thought it had been stolen, because after going to them since I bought my Volvo, I didn't dream of them actually locking my car up and leaving me stranded!! At the recommendation of the police officer, I pushed my panic button, to see if they had actually locked my car up from me..., and sure enough, to my amazement and the police officers amazement, they had locked my car up!! Being that I work across the street at the hospital, this was a very convenient place for me to drop my car off to be serviced , but the thought of being completely stranded again gives me knots in my stomach!! read more

Best Dealership ever! My husband surprised me with a new XC90 for Christmas and my Birthday. He worked with Nick Pacifico, Ryan and Bob. They helped him pull off the impossible for a Christmas morning surprise! We went back on the 26th for my new car education and it was absolutely the best experience ever. I took my 2008 XC70 in while it was still under warranty to have a noise checked out. The Volvo technician didn't find anything so Rickenbaugh insisted on charging me for their technician's time (they charge as much as most doctors per hour, by the way). I had to argue with the service manager to get it removed from my bill. Not only did I get the short end of the stick as Rickenbaugh's techs were not talented enough to locate the problem (and now it's out of warranty), but then I get insulted with that ridicuous policy. Can be a little tricky to find the service entrance but I'm so glad that I went here to service my volvo. I had an oil change on a Saturday morning. There were two things that my service advisor, Mark, did that particularly impressed me. 1) I arrived around 745a as I like to be the first one there as I wait for my car and do not want to wait all day for my car. Mark was already there and checked me in early, despite the fact that they don't open until 8am. That was appreciated as it was a cold day and nice to not wait in my car. 2) I originally stated that I wanted a 7500 mile service as that is what I typically get. I also mentioned that I will be selling the car soon. Mark suggested that I get an oil change instead, which has very similar services and is about $90 cheaper. I was so incredulous that he did that. In the past, I've been extremely disappointed with Volvo service dealers as they have tried to upsell me on services and suggested things that I didn't need. His honesty and integrity are greatly appreciated. I was very pleased with my oil change, it was done in about 40 min. They have plenty of snacks and drinks to enjoy while waiting. My only complaint is that I had to approach Mark to review the findings listed on my receipt, regarding things that the technician noticed about my car. Granted, I did admit that I plan on selling it so he likely assumed that I was not interested, however, that was not the case. I would definitely bring my car back here and recommend the service dept to friends with Volvos. read more

I brought my XC60 in to have the front grill piece replaced due to discoloration, most likely due to mag chloride. This was done by Volvo under a 1 time replacement warranty. The service was done in less than an hour and it looks great. read more

If you have ever taken your car to Sil-Terhar VOLVO, you have no problem making the 25 mile trek downtown for Volvo service at Rickenbagh. The free shuttle is very prompt and the driver we had last time (Jim) was so nice and even struck up a nice conversation with my 13 year old son.
