They helped handle my car rental situation with another party's insurance company even though they really did not have to. They estimated it would take my car a few days and it was completed by the date they had mentioned. No delays or anything. Definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for an honest and friendly shop. Plus their waiting room is very nice :) Hopefully I don't ever need to go to a body shop again but if I have to, it will be this place! I went in about a scratch on my back car door that I got from trying to park in one of Koreatown's way-too-small parking spots (while I'm at it, avoid K3 Parking too!) Rick's took one 30-second look at my car and then spent 10 minutes "calculating" my estimate on the computer. They told me they'd have to replace the entire door AND do repairs on the front car door (odd, I thought, since the front door was untouched--upon second look later I realized what they must have been looking at was a spot of bird poop). Quoted me $3400 for the whole job. And, for good measure, threw in a sexist comment about how obviously a "girl" like me would get into such a stupid accident. (For the record, the reason I messed my car up is because I'm from NYC and new to driving. Not because of my gender.) Went up the street to Hyperion Collision Center, where they thoughtfully and respectfully inspected my car, ending up with a quote between $850-$1000 depending on the approach--with a lifetime warranty and an offer to waive my insurance deductible. Bottom line: Go up the street to Hyperion Collision Center! They'll treat you with respect and offer you a fair price. Screw this place though. Hopefully this will make them think twice about trying to scam the next young woman who comes along. read more

It also happens to be written on the complimentary floormat protector they placed in my car upon delivery. It has been a week of me seeing that floormat everyday and I am still very happy with the service I received working with Rick's autobody. From the first phone call with Alex I already had a feeling this was a shop not like the rest. On the phone Alex was polite and considerate. He answered my questions easily and honestly. I worked with Geico, my insurance company, to work out an estimate for the repairs. Took that estimate to Rick's and they took it from there. The three words I would use to describe Rick's Auto Body is honest, fast, and cheap. I had a bit of a fight with my parking garage (oh what going 1mph into cement can do to your car) and dent/scraped up the wheel well pretty badly causing to rub the wheel when people were sitting the back seat/I hit a big bump. Brought it into Rick's Auto Body and they gave me two options: 1) They could un-dent it, do some touch up paint to prevent rust and it looking atrocious for $50. 2) They could make it beautiful and looking like new for approximately $1000. I greatly appreciated the options they gave me and chose number 1. Not only did I feel I got a great value, but they promised it in two hours and finished in one hour. This is being a walk-in without an appointment on a Monday morning. What really stood out was they were able to understand what I wanted, quote me a reasonable price for it, and over-deliver on it. While this seems simple, it's something most businesses have a huge amount of trouble doing. I came in telling them I needed the car to be fully functional and un-dented so it wouldn't get further damaged rubbing against the wheel, the exposed metal covered by paint so it wouldn't rust, and didn't want to spend that much money. Rather than only offering me option #2 (as other places did) they offered and even recommended #1. And by the way, there's a nice little coffee shop a few blocks away (just walk out and make a right on Hyperion Ave and walk a few blocks). read more

I had my Honda S2000 repaired after it was side-swiped while driving in Hollywood. The repair was about 3 months ago, and the only issue I had was a piece of trim around the door handle came loose just this week. I brought the car in today and they fixed that within 15 minutes. The entire experience was great. (It took them a few more days to fix my car than first estimated, but this did not cause me a problem.) There were 2 ways to fix my door - with filler, or put a new skin on it. The better way was to put a new skin on it, which is what they did. They also argued that with my insurance company who only wanted to pay for filler. The paint job was amazing - looks brand new and matches the rest of the car perfectly. This is a great body shop. I had the misfortune of needing body repairs twice in three months. The first time was a hit and run in a parking garage (thanks, anonymous USC student). I searched Yelp for a shop near my house, and Rick's topped the list. I was not disappointed. Alex was very helpful and friendly, as were all the staff. Having Hertz on site made renting a car hassle-free. They dealt directly with my insurance company (Mercury), and even threw in some extras for me. The repairs were done expertly. A few months later my glass sunroof was shattered by some unseen object while cruising the 5 at 65 MPH. After assessing the damage, I drove directly to Rick's, called my insurance company, and was in a rental car within 30 mins. Alex contacted me a few times during the repairs to keep me up-to-date, and even helped me switch to a better rental car. Again, the car came back looking good as new. You never WANT to go to an auto body shop, but if you have to, this is the place to go. I came here because it's super close and had great reviews. This place lives up to the positive reviews. Unfortunately, I had two accidents last year and thus visited Rick's twice. Once because I caused an accident and ended up selling them my car. A second time because I was the victim of a hit and run that left my front driver's side damaged. The gentleman recognized me months later when I pulled up in a different car. Embarrassing but also lovely. I felt taken care of and respected both times. Everyone there is honest, communicative, and kind. I appreciate how much they kept me in the loop about repairs the second time around. They ended up finishing the repairs before expected. Speedy! The deal with Hertz next door was also a big help as I don't have rental car insurance on my auto policy. They were great there, too! read more

You know there's a reason why Rick's Auto Body gets 5 stars consistently: their work is first class and they truly do care about their customers. I brought my Range Rover Evoque in as a result of a small dent I "received" when I parked my car next to a large pine tree. I was actually parking in front of a friend's house in anticipation of helping him out with some yard work. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished. I met with Alex and he was extremely sympathetic to my situation. After running the numbers it turned out that it was going to cost me nearly $1,100.00 to pull out the small dent on my right rear fender. I rolled my eyes and said: "Well, that's not going to happen!". Alex gently told me he was going to work on the price and proceeded to lop off labor costs that the computer program was automatically applying. By the time he was done he had the price down to $850.00. Still very expensive but better than before. I went to two other local body shops and the first one took one look and advised that the whole fender would have to be replaced at the cost of $1,600.00~$1,800.00. The second one was much more reasonable but the price came out to $1,000.00. I went with Rick's both based on price and a personal recommendation made by a neighbor who, coincidentally, also owned a Range Rover Evoque. I dropped the car off on a Monday and Alex informed me it would take four days to repair...I might have it back by Friday or Saturday latest. I pushed for Friday and he said he would call me and advise. By Friday morning I was convinced my car wouldn't be ready until Saturday. But, what do you know, Alex called me around noon and advised I could come pick up my car TODAY between 4:00~4:30. I arrived a little after 4:00 and my car was sitting there all detailed and looking great. Alex escorted me into the office and I paid exactly $850.00...no surcharges, no additional taxes, no "disposal fees", etc. Seldom if ever have I been truly happy with both the customer care and quality of work received as with Rick's and Alex. After doing the assessment he took it upon himself to use a tool to fix my car door within a minute. My car and car door are now good as new! He is so honest and helpful. I have never had an experience of walking out of body shop with my car looking great and NOT feeling ripped off. Rick's is great! I was not putting my repairs through insurance so two other shops in the neighborhood would not even bother with me. Peter was eager to help me even though my goal was not to spend a lot of $. After an oil change, I discovered that the little fender bender i had was preventing my hood from closing and the rear hatch wouldn't close either. The day I took the car in I met Kevin. I think he thought the estimate was a little low but he stood by it. When I picked the car up, I couldn't believe what they did for so little money. "The Condo" looked practically brand new! Love them! And I'm telling everyone. Now I have to figure out how to get my insurance company to let me go to Rick's instead of the factory around the corner! read more

A year later, my bumper looks worse than when I brought it in. Simple, day-to-day LA parking dings have completely flaked off the paint on the bumper they replaced, revealing white bumper underneath. My prior 10 year old bumper looked to be in better shape than this one. It's as if they used some cheap paint that, while perfectly matched in color, doesn't adhere to whatever material they've used for the bumper underneath. I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

I chose Rick's Auto Body on Hyperion Ave. in Silver Lake because of the good reviews on Yelp and I am so happy I did. I drive an older 2001 Lexus and wanted to keep the cost of repairs as low as possible without compromising the workmanship. Kevin suggested trying to find a used fender in good condition, creatively cut few corners, and then threw in picking up the cost of my Rent-A-Car and painting my side view mirror that had been damaged a long time ago. He took time with me and explained in detail how the repairs would be done. As soon as the fender came in he called and asked me to come in to approve the condition of the fender. The car was washed and ready to go in 5 Days just as he promised, body work was perfect, and to top things off at no additional charge he replaced a tail light. What body shop does this? First impressions are very important to me, and the moment I drove up into their driveway I was immediately greeted by Kevin, and he quickly assessed my vehicle and reassured me that the damage to my car is not as bad as it looks. Within 10 minutes we were already typing up an estimate, and within another 10 minutes, I got the quote. Because my vehicle is pearl white, I was already expecting the worst, but the quote I got was much less than I had anticipated which deserved another star in my book. Picked up my car within 4 days, and my baby looked soooo new. He was soooo shiny! Got a wash and my front bumper was good as new. They even took care of the scratches underneath the bumper (price one pays for driving a low car). I loved the ambiance/energy of the place. It was professional, and my whole experience was pleasurable. I will definitely take my baby to them again if ever I get into another accident!! I came here wanting to repair the dents on my car before I turned in my lease. They told me that it would cost way more to fix the car than what the maker would charge me for the damages if I turned it in as is. The guy helping me tried to scuff out whatever scratches I had, pulled out the dents he could, and gave me his earnest opinion about what I should do with my lease ending. He could have easily told me to get the 5 grand in repairs I needed, but he was totally frank with me. When I asked him what I owed for his time, he said no charge. Really appreciated the honesty! Brand new Audi S5 got keyed with a scratch the size of my hand (no dents/dings). Took to another repair shop for estimate and was quoted $1200 (see my other review). Thought this was quite expensive for just a scratch! Came to Rick's and met with Kevin. Quoted $450 and said car would be ready in 2 days-Check and check. Quality of work was excellent. Other places talk about "what you pay is what you get". But I'ld say "check out Rick's Auto Body. You're probably getting scammed at the other places". I've come to realize the industry has a lot of finagle room when providing estimates-usually on the labor hours to inflate prices Kevin was very sincere, polite, and kind.
