    AHI TUNA STEAK

12 of us on a family gathering agreed that Ricks is top notch gourmet food in a casual setting, great service and reasonably priced. They gave us our own wing of the restaurant for our party. We all shared tastings... I Loved loved loved my generous serving of Ahi Tuna Steak perfectly seared and rare, served with beautiful asparagus, Jamaican black beans and rice. My sister in law's Cuban Ropa Vieja was fantastic lying flavorful and tender. The two salads i tasted were The Chef's salad and the Chopped salads, both with the finest ingredients, choice chicken, smoked bacon, homemade fresh dressings. I don't think there's anything more we could have asked for! Mwah!

Had a nice meal here last night with 5 of my friends after going to the movies. Excellent service and great food. Two friends had the turkey dinner which they said was very good. Two had the fish tacos and said they were just ok. One had the burger which they enjoyed. I had the turkey club sandwich and it was very large and delicious. The menu has a nice selection of items including smaller portions for those who want a lighter meal. They have their own parking lot which is a big plus for Palm Springs.

We were staying at an Inn nearby and they gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for Rick's Restaurant. We woke up pretty early so we decided to check it out before the brunch crowd got there. It's a pretty big restaurant so there's seating everywhere. Definitely a diner vibe. We were seated right away and waters came to our table immediately. They asked if we wanted coffee, but we declined. The servers seem to be in a rush all the time. Everything goes by quickly: seating, ordering, eating, billing. There wasn't really much of a welcoming routine, just what do you want, ok here you go, and goodbye. Granted, it was a weekend and I'm sure during busy hours, that's exactly what you want/need to keep things moving. The menu is pretty extensive with a bit of everything. The voucher we had was for a Rick's Special of the House (2 eggs, home fries or hashbrowns, toast, and a beverage). I got scrambled eggs, hash browns (well done), rye toast, and a raspberry iced tea. It was a filling meal, perfect for breakfast. Eggs were nicely scrambled, the hashbrowns were fine. I didn't realize that the toast would come buttered and I wish I knew that because I would've gotten it plain but it was still good. We also got a breakfast burrito (I forgot the name of it) but it was a cuban burrito, with lechon, rice, beans, and a few other things. It was also good, but I think we'd go with something different next time. Either way, we left full and content with our meals.

Mimosa was filled to the brim, not too much OJ. Waffle was yummy

The server who was working today in the morning was incredibly welcoming and kind, along with the servers. Food is great, prices and portions are very generous, and they serve the largest mimosa under $10 that I've seen I took a cinnamon roll to-go, and I will be getting one again tomorrow. Very yummy

Everyone you interact with during a visit helps set the tone, right? And while most of the staff was wonderful, our main server unfortunately wasn't. She seemed rushed, didn't really listen, missed half of our order, and just wasn't friendly. In contrast, everyone else--the runners, other servers, and the host stand--was incredibly kind and helpful. The food itself was good and comforting. The hash browns were extra crispy, just the way we love them. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal.

    -Media Noche (aka Cuban sandwich)
    Jacquelyn A.

I stopped here after a long day of flights and ordered the Media Noche. It was one of the best I've had. I'm a sucker for a good Cuban sandwich, and this one had the right amount of fillings. I loved that the bottom was full of pickles- it made this sandwich so, so good. Service was also friendly and top notch. Food came out quickly and it kept me full for a full day!

Denver Omlette (top) Short stack and Hashed Browns.

Friendly and prompt service! My beverage was never empty and our food was prompt. My pancakes and Hash browns were perfectly cooked and the syrup for the pancakes was served warm and the butter was whipped. Both nice touches. Our only complaint is that my husband said his omelette was way under seasoned, and the Ham to Pepper ratio in his Denver omlette was way too pepper heavy and ham light. The ham wasn't seared before it was put in the omlette so that's a little detail that could be better.

Great old photos of Palm Springs history.

We were hungry after "antiquing" a couple miles away. Rick's is a great comfort food spot, with home cooked food and daily specials. Comfortable booths, friendly service and great B/W photos from legendary celebrities and locations associated with Palm Springs all around the restaurant. Service was prompt, but the TWO menus were vast(breakfast and lunch both are served til 2pm, so we were given both those menus), but I def needed a hot minute to figure out which meal I was interested in. Hubs went with hamburger steak and eggs and it was a REALLY GOOD 1/2 lb burger. I landed on trying the Polish sausage with sauerkraut and Swiss, but asked to hold the bun. It came with a side of fresh made fries, which were also very good. The Polish sausage had a perfect snap to it and the two slices of Swiss were real cheese. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'll be getting processed or real is a delicious surprise. We were offered A-1 and Heinz mustard with our orders, which we appreciated, but Hubs had to ask for a coffee refill after he was done eating, none was offered through his meal. The server DID then bring a refill of my water without being asked, once he realized that wasn't offered earlier either, so we lingered a bit longer to finish both bevvies. The GIANT cinnamon roll and other fresh baked goods caught my attention on Yelp and also when we walked in, but I didn't have room to try any - THIS time. lol I'd also be interested in trying one of their scratch made daily soups and their roasted turkey entree would probably be mighty tasty for Thanksgiving. Rick also has some family Cuban recipes with sides of plantain, rice and beans that look very good too. Like I said, a vast selection of homemade comfort foods. We'll be back. Cheers! "CC"

#5 Bacon and Eggs - 3 slices of bacon, 2 Eggs, home fries & white toast.
    Javier S.

Good breakfast, good service. I ordered the #5 Bacon and Eggs; 3 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, home fries & toast. The bacon was crispy, not too fatty. The eggs (cooked scrambled) were fluffy. The home fries were good, but needed more seasoning for flavor, also could have used a bit more cooking time (I like them very well done). The toast was good, ordered white bread with blackberry jam; really liked the jam. The ambiance of ricks was cool with the black and white pictures of old Palm Springs celebrities. The service was fast and very friendly.

My guest suggested Rick's Restaurant for lunch. I immediately agreed. I have been wanted to go. My guest had the Pastrami Ruben with fries. I ordered the Cuban Pork sandwich, chicken tortilla soup, plantains and black beans with rice. The chicken tortilla soup was delicious. The pork for me was tough. I would have preferred a different cut of pork. The plantains could have been fried a little longer and crisper. The black beans could use more seasoning. The restaurant was beautiful. The menu selection was huge. Breakfast and lunch was offered until 2 pm. Staff were friendly and attentive. I would like to go back and try something different. There was ample parking. There was also a separate bar area from dinning area, and patio dinning. $$

Last year we went here for brunch as we left Palm Springs and I still dreaming about their cinnamon roll so I was super excited to be able to go back this past weekend! We weren't able to Rally all of our friends to come with us so it was just me and my husband. For server was super tentative and very fast and taking our order and bringing out our drinks and food. I ordered the corned beef and hash with hash browns and a coffee. And of course the most important part the cinnamon roll! I'll let the photos speak for themselves, but it is amazing! We went Sunday morning and it was surprisingly really easy to get a table, there was no wait. Highly recommend this place if you're at Palm Springs area.

I ordered a Cuban Burger, Chocolate Cake, and strawberry margarita. I have never eaten Cuban sandwiches before so I did not know what to expect. Delivery is pricey. However it was nice to have to go out to have a margarita with dinner. It was a decent margarita but nothing special. The burger had a very large patty and a stack of ham on top with burger toppings. It came with sweet plantains which are one of the favorite things I had in this meal. The loaded baked potato I chose as my free side was salted and covered in bacon and cheese. Jalapeños, sour cream, and butter were packaged separately. It was a salty meal. The chocolate cake was very large- as large as my hand- and very extremely rich. The frosting was even more rich. I ate half of everything and am saving the other half for another meal. This was pretty decent food, the main dish is not my favorite meal but it was good. It's a new style compared to what I am used to.

I noticed a sign that said that you will be seated once your entire party has arrived. We didn't wait too long before our group of 19 arrived and were seated. The decor has a vintage feel with beautiful chandeliers/lighting and dark, but warm color wood throughout the restaurant. Even the ceiling is detailed. My 2nd visit was with my husband. He decided to eat here after I had brought home a coconut crème pie for him from my first visit. During my first visit I enjoyed a wonderful chicken pot pie. Even though it was a warm day outside, seeing it on the menu caught my stomachs attention. It was a good size, I wasn't able to finish it. The crust was baked to perfection. The filling was perfect just the right balance of meat to veggies, with the perfect creaminess. During my second visit I enjoyed one of the breakfast favorites on the menu which it is mentioned only served until 3pm. I had ordered the Belgium Waffle with Gold 'N' Spice Chicken Tenders. I added a side order of scrambled eggs to my order. Everything was fabulous! I devoured everything. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert! The servers are friendly and fast, and always making sure our drinks were replenished. Unfortunately, we live quite far from the restaurant. But, if ever in the area I would love to return and try something new on the menu and make sure I save room for dessert!

There's so much unused space that I'm sure they could fit three restaurants inside. The first thing you notice as you walk in is the large koi pond full of fish and turtles. We were mesmerized. The next thing you figure out is this is definitely an old school spot. All the servers and hosts are older women who have probably worked there for years. Already, it was my kind of place. My sister ordered corned beef hash and eggs, and the size was massive. It was so much food that she took it to go and we shared it for breakfast the next day. I ordered the tuna melt. I'm pretty picky about my melts, but the server spoke highly about it, so I was convinced. It was albacore white meat tuna with very little added besides the mayo, and it was perfectly grilled on rye bread, their recommendation. It came with several side options, but I went for the cole slaw. Suffice it to say it was delicious. We liked the place so much, we decided since it was on our way out of town, we'd stop in again for breakfast. Again, we were not disappointed. I had the short stack of pancakes which were perfectly done and fluffy. Sister had the pecan waffle, which came with dollops of whipped cream and loads of pecans. Another total hit for both of us. I highly recommend if you appreciate old school diners, you stop in and enjoy a meal here. We loved it and will be back next time we are in town.

The two-top table near the bar, with mustard-fabric lounge chairs on low spindled "moon-lander" inspired supports seem to have jumped right out of a 60's time machine, matching the retro vibe in the whole place. Our server was delightful, regaling us with her informative descriptions of her favorite dishes... it's fabulous when a server knows the menu so well that they can describe not only what's in the dish, but why it's so good. Cocktails were an obvious strength, and after my first choice, the pear-inspired Akita was regrettably "out of stock" (she informed us that they had run out of the fresh pear syrup they make by hand each day), I was steered to the It's Giving Julius. This boozy take on the classic Orange Julius, with a mouth-watering egg-white-textured foam floating on rum-infused a citrus blast. For Gayle, it was a moment to savor the non-alcoholic "Clutch Your Pearls," complete with boba pearls atop an icy lime-green concoction. The entire restaurant is themed on "American comfort food with an Asian twist." And let me say, they nailed it in every aspect. My bowl of Tteokbokk was a brilliant spin on a classic Rigatoni bowl, subbing Korean rice cakes for pasta and gochujang spiked tomato sauce for marinara, but keeping the rich parmesan/mozzerella cheese. At the server's suggestion, I topped it with fried pork belly, well executed and delicious, the entire bowl was light with an arrabiatta-like kick. My wife had the Garlic Noodles... imagine a creamy bowl of chicken noodle casserole straight out of the 60's, but without a can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken in sight. Velvety sauce glazed perfectly cooked Ramen noodles with vegetables and chicken... took her right back to her mother's kitchen where the same dish was the perfect remedy for the flu - comforting and scrumptuous without being too heavy. And finally having not overstuffed ourselves on this trip, we opted for the "poor life choice" of dessert. And after asking for the "simple plate of milk and cookies," the server corrected me and stated - rightly so - that this was anything but simple. Three stuffed cookies: Red Velvet with cheesecake cream, S'mores with marshmellow, and cinnamon filled Churro - nuggets from Heaven's bakery, with a glass of cold milk. We managed to finish it and roll on out full of some of the best food we've had this year. The only minor hiccup was when trying to buy merch on our way out, the front stand didn't have a terminal to let us pay, so we had to seek out a bartender to run our credit card (and they were super busy). A minor complaint in the grand scheme... get those hosts a card reader! Note: We didn't see a single dog in the place... but they clearly are welcome to 4-legged clientele. Such a fun spot.

We were taken to our table roughly 10-15 minutes after our reservation, which was perfectly fine. When we were seated, we decided on appetizers to order. Our waiter came over and we put in our appetizer order, but said we'd like more time to decide on main courses. The appetizers came out very slowly, and we were then told that one of the orders (the ube focaccia) had run out, so we could get regular focaccia instead, which we did not want to do. Two orders of tuna tacos were brought to our table but we had only ordered one, and on the receipt they made it look as though they "comped" the second order (which was taken back once they realized we hadn't ordered it). We didn't get to order our main dishes for quite some time, and then it took ages for the dishes to come out. They were tasty, but we were getting to the point that we were ready to go home if the food didn't come out within the next few minutes. Once the mains did arrive, my friend asked if there is any rice we could order, and our waiter said yes, but they had just run out. We found this very odd - ube focaccia is one thing, but who runs out of rice? My husband ordered a beer which was never brought to him, and upon getting the bill, my friend said that we didn't receive one of our drinks. The waiter then said "yeah, I forgot about it. But don't worry, it's not on the receipt." Again, strange. Our waiter seemed very disengaged and unapologetic, which I found odd. I can understand that he was busy, but to not apologize for forgetting the drink, running out of one of our appetizers, running out of rice, and waiting a very long time for our dinner seemed strange. Plus, the food was quite expensive (and the portions were relatively small), so it felt especially bizarre that the service was so off. I wouldn't come back because of the service and the price for the portions, but the food did taste very good. I'm disappointed because I wanted to love it here!

You order at the counter and the prepared for is brought to your table. It's perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch or low key dinner. The portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. The Wednesday night roast chicken special is particularly good. You wont be disappointed here.

I have been here before and honestly could not remember if it was good or bad. For two burger combos and one hamburger by itself, the total came out $72 YIKES !! I did sub zucchini for fries which is an $8.50 up charge . But you make matters worse when I got home one of my burgers was not made the way that I requested it. They forgot the bacon and cheese. I called them and I don't like when they say would you like to come back and grab the right thing because no I'm already home. You guys messed up and I don't wanna be the one that has to drive all the way back just to grab a burger while my other family members eat. Honestly, the burgers were tasteless. No seasoning at all and the fries were undercooked. I did not take any pictures because after I realized my order was wrong. I just wanted to eat and be done with that. Never coming back to this place, the price tag was crazy and the food was just not worth it .

One of the reasons I keep coming back is the availability of private dining rooms that are conveniently located near the main dining area. If you're planning a group dinner meeting, just be aware that the sliding doors don't completely block out the noise from the dining room, so conversations may not be as secluded as you'd expect. That said, the food is consistently outstanding. The heirloom tomato salad is an absolute must-order. The crème fraîche dressing is incredible. Pro tip: save some bread to soak up every last bit of it. For the main course, the mesquite-smoked carne asada is exceptional. The meat is cooked perfectly, and the combination of pinto beans, ranchera sauce, and slightly sweet corn pudding creates a balanced and memorable dish. The portions are thoughtfully sized! Satisfying without leaving you feeling overly full. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. They're all worth trying, but the macchiato cake is the standout and the perfect way to end the meal. Whether you're meeting clients, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying a night out, Eight4Nine delivers excellent food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a dining experience that keeps me coming back.

The building is large, bright, and nicely decorated. Its history is interesting. I was told that first it was the US Post Office. Then a furniture store. For the last ten-plus years, it has been Eight4Nine. Tonight, I started with the Ahi Tuna Poke. It was really fresh with a nice blend of Asian flavors. Nicely chilled, it was perfect for a hot night. My entree was the delicious Carne Asada. The skirt steak was sliced thin and it had a smokey hardwood grilled flavor to it. The refried pinto beans were a nice complement to the meal. My wine, a Chenin Blanc was crisp and fruity also perfect for a hot weather night. Eight4Nine is a great addition to the many delicious restaurants in Palm Springs.

FACILITY: Small, limited seating indoors with very nice, fun, outdoor seating areas. Love this place. MENU: Simple, easy to understand, great photos online if you have any questions. FOOD PREP: Very well done, like professional in just how it looks. FOOD QUALITY: Professional in how it also tastes... Watermelon Gazpacho was perfect with drinks prior to main. LIBATIONS: drinks and bartender were excellent, fun, and the photo print was very cool. WAITSTAFF: just so nice, and fun making the experience all that much better. We have been enjoying The Plaza Theater so spending a little more time in Palm Springs and this will be one of our favorites places to relax prior to an event. OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

I'll consider rewriting the review another time, again. One star given by the goodness of the food, which is mostly an ingredient thing. We serve three of these dishes at my work, so it's honestly not mind blowing or anything, of course. We did vegan options.

Totally worth the wait. Only open 5 nights a week, with seating for under 45 people, and frequented by locals in the know as well as savvy travelers, your dining experience begins with Paul escorting you to either your table or a seat at the bar. Strap in to enjoy great cocktails and a delicious dinner. There are, as I recall, daily specials. From its humble roots ( 30-40 years back), this strip mall location is anything but a mall resturant. The aproned and bow-tied bartenders and waitstaff are REALLY good at their assignments. The back bar is ornate and old. Set your expectations high for the quality and presentation of the food. if you're a party of two, the bar is THE best option (perhaps only) and your wait time to order will likely be shorter there. If you're eating at the bar, ask your neighbors what they recommend or what they ordered, and you won't go wrong. Paul Bar is a one-off, not to be missed dining experience in Palm Springs.
