I came here because we didn't have another other option for dinner. It was good, a solid choice. The place was ok nothing memorable. The service was good and they were friendly. We ordered pernil but it needed more flavor. The space gave me old school vibes. I would recommend it, it was not my favorite meal but it was ok. I do believe there are other dishes they make better so it could be what I ordered.

12 of us on a family gathering agreed that Ricks is top notch gourmet food in a casual setting, great service and reasonably priced. They gave us our own wing of the restaurant for our party. We all shared tastings... I Loved loved loved my generous serving of Ahi Tuna Steak perfectly seared and rare, served with beautiful asparagus, Jamaican black beans and rice. My sister in law's Cuban Ropa Vieja was fantastic lying flavorful and tender. The two salads i tasted were The Chef's salad and the Chopped salads, both with the finest ingredients, choice chicken, smoked bacon, homemade fresh dressings. I don't think there's anything more we could have asked for! Mwah!

We stopped off here on a Sunday morning on our way to the airport. Good, extensive menu. I had the catfish with eggs, and hash browns., and everything was prepared quite well. The catfish was prepared well and tasted really good. The hash browns were decent, and the eggs were plain, scrambled eggs, nothing amazing. I found myself wishing that they something else in them, but they were listed as simply "eggs" on the menu, and that's what I got. I also had buttered sourdough bread, and that was good. I was happy that the catfish was good, and enjoyed my meal there, as everything else was solid if not amazing. The restaurant also serves numerous Cuban specialties, and they looked good. When I come back here, I will probably try one of those dishes such as the El Cubano Sandwich. The service was appropriately attentive and friendly.

We were staying at an Inn nearby and they gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for Rick's Restaurant. We woke up pretty early so we decided to check it out before the brunch crowd got there. It's a pretty big restaurant so there's seating everywhere. Definitely a diner vibe. We were seated right away and waters came to our table immediately. They asked if we wanted coffee, but we declined. The servers seem to be in a rush all the time. Everything goes by quickly: seating, ordering, eating, billing. There wasn't really much of a welcoming routine, just what do you want, ok here you go, and goodbye. Granted, it was a weekend and I'm sure during busy hours, that's exactly what you want/need to keep things moving. The menu is pretty extensive with a bit of everything. The voucher we had was for a Rick's Special of the House (2 eggs, home fries or hashbrowns, toast, and a beverage). I got scrambled eggs, hash browns (well done), rye toast, and a raspberry iced tea. It was a filling meal, perfect for breakfast. Eggs were nicely scrambled, the hashbrowns were fine. I didn't realize that the toast would come buttered and I wish I knew that because I would've gotten it plain but it was still good. We also got a breakfast burrito (I forgot the name of it) but it was a cuban burrito, with lechon, rice, beans, and a few other things. It was also good, but I think we'd go with something different next time. Either way, we left full and content with our meals.

Had a nice meal here last night with 5 of my friends after going to the movies. Excellent service and great food. Two friends had the turkey dinner which they said was very good. Two had the fish tacos and said they were just ok. One had the burger which they enjoyed. I had the turkey club sandwich and it was very large and delicious. The menu has a nice selection of items including smaller portions for those who want a lighter meal. They have their own parking lot which is a big plus for Palm Springs.

Everyone you interact with during a visit helps set the tone, right? And while most of the staff was wonderful, our main server unfortunately wasn't. She seemed rushed, didn't really listen, missed half of our order, and just wasn't friendly. In contrast, everyone else--the runners, other servers, and the host stand--was incredibly kind and helpful. The food itself was good and comforting. The hash browns were extra crispy, just the way we love them. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal.

    -Media Noche (aka Cuban sandwich)
    Jacquelyn A.

I stopped here after a long day of flights and ordered the Media Noche. It was one of the best I've had. I'm a sucker for a good Cuban sandwich, and this one had the right amount of fillings. I loved that the bottom was full of pickles- it made this sandwich so, so good. Service was also friendly and top notch. Food came out quickly and it kept me full for a full day!

Mimosa was filled to the brim, not too much OJ. Waffle was yummy
    Jade M.

The server who was working today in the morning was incredibly welcoming and kind, along with the servers. Food is great, prices and portions are very generous, and they serve the largest mimosa under $10 that I've seen I took a cinnamon roll to-go, and I will be getting one again tomorrow. Very yummy

Denver Omlette (top) Short stack and Hashed Browns.
    Keegan P.

Friendly and prompt service! My beverage was never empty and our food was prompt. My pancakes and Hash browns were perfectly cooked and the syrup for the pancakes was served warm and the butter was whipped. Both nice touches. Our only complaint is that my husband said his omelette was way under seasoned, and the Ham to Pepper ratio in his Denver omlette was way too pepper heavy and ham light. The ham wasn't seared before it was put in the omlette so that's a little detail that could be better.

Great old photos of Palm Springs history.

We were hungry after "antiquing" a couple miles away. Rick's is a great comfort food spot, with home cooked food and daily specials. Comfortable booths, friendly service and great B/W photos from legendary celebrities and locations associated with Palm Springs all around the restaurant. Service was prompt, but the TWO menus were vast(breakfast and lunch both are served til 2pm, so we were given both those menus), but I def needed a hot minute to figure out which meal I was interested in. Hubs went with hamburger steak and eggs and it was a REALLY GOOD 1/2 lb burger. I landed on trying the Polish sausage with sauerkraut and Swiss, but asked to hold the bun. It came with a side of fresh made fries, which were also very good. The Polish sausage had a perfect snap to it and the two slices of Swiss were real cheese. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'll be getting processed or real is a delicious surprise. We were offered A-1 and Heinz mustard with our orders, which we appreciated, but Hubs had to ask for a coffee refill after he was done eating, none was offered through his meal. The server DID then bring a refill of my water without being asked, once he realized that wasn't offered earlier either, so we lingered a bit longer to finish both bevvies. The GIANT cinnamon roll and other fresh baked goods caught my attention on Yelp and also when we walked in, but I didn't have room to try any - THIS time. lol I'd also be interested in trying one of their scratch made daily soups and their roasted turkey entree would probably be mighty tasty for Thanksgiving. Rick also has some family Cuban recipes with sides of plantain, rice and beans that look very good too. Like I said, a vast selection of homemade comfort foods. We'll be back. Cheers! "CC"

YES to everything!…read more The food was excellent. We started with the crab cakes, and although they lacked a bit of structural integrity, they were absolutely divine! The aioli they came with was a perfect pairing. The chili was great! Lots of meat in it & I ate it my favorite way, which was loaded onto some buttered up cornbread! My entree was the chicken pot pie, and wow, wow, wow! What a treat. The crust was perfect, and the pot pie is packed with chicken, veggies, and that delicious signature pot pie creaminess! We were lucky enough to meet the new owners who have committed to maintaining the traditions of the original community stronghold that has been "Billy Reed's". We arrived just after 1pm which it was pretty quiet. It's a big space so if there's not a good amount of people, it does look sparse. But about 20 minutes or so after we arrived, people did start to arrive and it did get pretty lively. Checked in with the hostess which we were given option on where we wanted to be seated. Hi top, low top, booth or the bar. Option is alway a good thing. We went with the booth seating as it was quite roomy and had a nice back cushion. Of course our waiter David was the sweetest. He remembered us from way back but something else was there that I couldn't put my finger on. Asked him if he worked somewhere else which he did and the funny thing was, he took care of us there about a month and half ago. Guess the desert restaurant experience, you'll run into the same people. Very sweet there and the exact same here. Made the dining situation great. Brunch menu does offer a good amount of items. A mixture of breakfast items, egg dishes, sandwiches and salads as well as miscellaneous items. Plus they have the mimosas deal. You can either go straight with champagne with 2 refills for 12.00 or mimosas with 2 refill for 14.00. Not bad and alway a must for brunch. Food wise, I'm not a burger person but something about the "Gregor" looked interesting. 1/2 pound of fresh ground angus beef, Kobe short rib, beer cheese sauce, romaine lettuce, tomato onion jam, dill pickles in a brioche bun. Also had it with an over easy egg. It's massive and a little messy picking everything up. Not a burger lover but this item was quite tasty. The meats were juicy and there was enough of it. It was worth having a burger. That was served with fries which was more like shaved potatoes. Also the Rolys Cubano sandwich. Pressed under iron skillet roasted pork, Virginia ham, Gruyère cheese, dill pickles and sour cherry Dijon. It wasn't the same as I've had at Cubans restaurants in Miami and others but it was tasty. A little different from what I'm used to but it was good. Also comes with a side which we went with onion rings for an additional fee. They were quite tasty and big. Cooked well and nice and crunchy. Refills of mimosas were always on time whenever the glass was empty. Service was excellent. Everyone working was major dolls. David was excellent and made sure that we were taken cared of with anything we needed. Water was always refilled when it was emptied. The place did picked up during our meal and after we left. They do have patio seating but no one wants to be out when it's triple digit. We enjoyed and had a great time for brunch. Until next time.

Do not let the location detour you at all…read more This review comes from somebody that grew up in the San Francisco area and has gone on food trips all over New York, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Hawaii, N/S Carolina, Arizona and Iowa, from Michelin rated restaurants to funky little places that we hear about from locals.. we try it all. Paul Bar is a fabulous experience, I've been here many times and the food as well as the service are always excellent! One of the many really interesting parts is there is a line to get in that starts well before the place opens up at 4 pm and it's like that most of the night HOWEVER the line moves quickly and once you get inside....OMG, you are transported into a really cool, dimly lit, swanky NY supper club with leather booths, tall bar tables plus there's seating at the bar (with many colorful locals that you'll probably end up making friends with) and the selection of food & drinks are so diverse, everything that my friends and I have ordered have been outstanding! Paul the owner who is very sweet is always there and oversees everything in his own quiet way to make sure everything is running smoothly and that his guests are happy, Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is the place to go for really great food, a fun time and an immersive experience and I promise you'll come back

Perhaps the most unique and memorable dining spot you'll ever find. You will encounter a line out…read morethe door several diners long - so just factor that into your experience and justify the wait by the amazing hospitality and service when Paul, the owner, personally greets you and your anticipation level rises. Totally worth the wait. Only open 5 nights a week, with seating for under 45 people, and frequented by locals in the know as well as savvy travelers, your dining experience begins with Paul escorting you to either your table or a seat at the bar. Strap in to enjoy great cocktails and a delicious dinner. There are, as I recall, daily specials. From its humble roots ( 30-40 years back), this strip mall location is anything but a mall resturant. The aproned and bow-tied bartenders and waitstaff are REALLY good at their assignments. The back bar is ornate and old. Set your expectations high for the quality and presentation of the food. if you're a party of two, the bar is THE best option (perhaps only) and your wait time to order will likely be shorter there. If you're eating at the bar, ask your neighbors what they recommend or what they ordered, and you won't go wrong. Paul Bar is a one-off, not to be missed dining experience in Palm Springs.
