Bacon egg and cheese burrito and salsa
    Gabriel G.

I just ordered 2 breakfast burritos and I must say I am very pleased. If you look at the photos in this app there is a phone number on the breakfast menu. I called ahead of time and ordered a bacon egg and cheese and a potato egg and cheese. Both were delicious. Nothing better then convenient homemade food. I also like that this is a local business and even people walking in we're saying hello to Albert who I believe is the cook and the owner. This is obviously a place with regulars. Give them a try, support local business. You won't regret it!

The cook from the previous restaurant in this location pappy's is the one that owns and runs this new restaurant. So the catfish is the same as Pappy's. I had the catfish nuggets they are extremely well seasoned and had the perfect crispness to them. I was extremely impressed with the fresh cut french fries. The fries are not frozen! You could tell the potatoes were cut fresh and fried in that definitely comes through in the flavor. I can never understand why so many restaurants use a frozen french fry :-( however Rico's uses fresh cut fries! :-) so no need to be disappointed in some other restaurants said Frozen fries, just come to Rico's and enjoy in house fresh cut french fries! I was very impressed with the remodel of the restaurant, the decor was much more modern in up-to-date and the restaurant is extremely clean. It is nothing like the previous business in this location when it comes to cleanliness and decor. They have done an amazing job turning around that building in putting in a very modern well decorated in extremely clean restaurant in that space. I am anxious to go back and try some of the new Mexican food dishes on the menu. Rico's is a definite place for lunch or dinner. To be completely honest we did try the breakfast and was not impressed at all, we will not be back for breakfast. But for dinner we are 100% going to be there again! The fried catfish in the fresh cut french fries absolutely cannot be missed. They now serve chips and salsa at the table when you come in, the chips are fresh made in house, and are very good. The chips are extremely thin and crispy and you can still see the hot glistening oil because they're freshly made right before they're brought out to the table. The hot sauce is excellent! But be cautious because the two times that we've had it it was extremely spicy. :-) but then I love a very spicy hot sauce so I was in heaven! The hot sauce has great flavor!! Once I go back and try the Mexican food on the menu I'll update this review. Definitely make a point of coming and trying Rico's and supporting a new family owned restaurant in South Irving. You will not regret eating here!

Been a loyal customer of Via Real since the early 1990's…read more All of a sudden they decided to charge much more in taxes that I assume must partially be to offset what seemed like a nice "social hour" recently added. When we asked the manager about it, he didn't seem to know they changed this. 10/25/25 was 8.25% tax (including alcohol in the order). All recent bills were anywhere from 13% to 16.5% hidden in the "tax" line, not even itemized. I'm sure because they know most won't realize it. This may explain why on a Friday at 5pm (even with a social hour) the bar was empty except for one other couple. Not going to reduce the stars since I like many of the long-timers that work here, but whoever is running the show now should probably re-examine their decisions. #WWFD

The menu leans Mexican fusion, with standout seafood and steak options across the board. One of my personal favorites is their sea bass special with pineapple reduction. It's beautifully balanced sweet, savory, and rich without being heavy and comes with perfectly cooked charred vegetables on the side. The drinks are excellent, especially the margaritas, which definitely lean on the stronger side, fair warning that one drink can feel like two. Save room for dessert too; they offer a solid selection of cakes and sweets that are a great way to close out the meal. Service is attentive and warm, and they also have private group dining rooms available, making it a great option for corporate events or holiday parties. Valet parking is available, but there's also plenty of convenient parking right next to the restaurant. Overall, Via Real is a reliable, elevated dining experience that still feels welcoming and rooted in tradition, a Las Colinas classic for a reason.

My new favorite Tex Mex restaurant. Love the fajitas…read more It was my wife's and my first time here. Kayla gave us fantastic service. Ample seating with festive birthday. The manager also came and gave us free beef fajita samples since he found out it was our first time. The flavor and juiciness of the beef blew me away. My wife and I got queso to compliment the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa and bean dips. I was a big fan of the beans too, didn't think I would be. We ended up getting a trio (beef, chicken, shrimp) fajita 1/2 pound and it was perfect for the 2 of us. You can taste the grilled and charred flavor on the meats. The chicken and shrimp were slightly on the drier side but when combined with the sour cream, beans, guac, cheese, they were perfection. For the two people, the limitation ended up being more the toppings to the fajitas but it was just enough. At about $25 for 2, that was a steal. The queso was about $9. Right before we were about to leave, Kayla recommended the tres leches dessert and you know we had to try it. It was solid. Loved the cream on top. Definitely would come back again!

On our way back from Asia, my husband and I had a stop through the DFW area and immediately decided…read morethat we needed to take advantage of being back near a region that really knows Mexican food. Living in Sioux Falls has many positives, but distinct and deeply flavorful Mexican cuisine is unfortunately still something that's a little harder to come by compared to places like Arizona or Texas. So, we made it a point to stop at Lupe Tortilla while passing through Irving. The first thing we noticed was how packed the restaurant was during lunch. People were pouring in steadily, and the atmosphere had that energetic local favorite feeling where you know people come because they genuinely enjoy the food. Thankfully, the meal itself delivered. Now, was it the absolute best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was still leagues beyond most of what we've experienced lately back home in South Dakota. The carne asada especially stood out. The portion was massive, tender, and packed with smoky, savory flavor. You could immediately tell it had actually spent some time on a grill instead of simply being rushed out of a kitchen. We also enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas, and burritos, all of which had that comforting Tex-Mex richness and seasoning that we've really missed. Unfortunately, we were on a fairly tight travel schedule and couldn't linger the way we would have liked. Honestly, this felt like the sort of place where you could easily sit awhile longer, enjoy another drink, sample more dishes, and just soak in the lively atmosphere. Still, even as a quick stop, it was a great experience and a delicious reminder of how much we miss the bold Mexican food culture of the Southwest.
