I tried Ricobenes during the pandemic, so I haven't had the chance to dine in and sit down. But everything we've ordered for takeout has been amazingly good! Known for their classic breaded steak sandwich! It's very filling and could possibly feed up to three people because it's so thick! It's piled up with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and all the peppers you could want! Personally it's my boyfriends favorite but I'm more of a fan of their Italian beef. Honestly it's just more up my alley But where they also are really bomb is their deep dish pizza. They have a nice heart cornbread-esque crust and their flavoring is exceptionally delicious. We had seen Ricobene's on Check, Please and noted we wanted to try it. Went for lunch on a Saturday and it did not disappoint. We decided we would split two sandwiches so we ordered the fried steak and the combo Italian beef and sausages. Added mozzarella to the steak and green peppers to the combo. The fried steak sandwich is amazing and memorable. Possibly the messiest sandwich I have ever had but the stack of napkins they put on our tray came in handy. The combo was also great- although the sausage was exceptional and the beef was a little drier than I like and expect. We made the mistake of ordering the king size sandwiches. We thought if we were sharing them, this would be a way to get larger sandwiches. Wrong- They were just tiffed with more meat. And they were sloppy- perhaps taking something away from the taste as sometimes, too much is worse than just enough. They are serving a limited menu during the pandemic- but we were there for the items they are best known for, so we had no issues with the menu as it was. The ambience was good. Tables well spaced and cleaned after each guest. Felt very safe and healthy. - except for the amount of food- which was extreme. All in all, another item off the Chicago bucket list and a place I would consider coming back to in the right situation. Certainly not a white table cloth, special occasion place. First time ordering from this location that's in the south side of Chicago in front of a bridge where you can park and eat since they're not seating anyone inside yet. I was satisfied with my breaded steak sandwich. It definitely got me full. The steak was soft and not crunchy. The steak is marinated in a red gravy sauce and it was delicious. Fries were a bit cold but I didn't really mind since it felt like it was 100 degrees outside. Any other day I'd like my fries fresh and hot . Prices were reasonable too. Service was good too. Waited only 20 to 25 min for my order. Good for me given the fact that they were super busy. Picked up our pizza and came home. Clearly, they dropped our pizza because the cheese and toppings had slid off. And the cheese had completely hardened already in the corners of the box. There was heavy grease that cut through the box because of the all the cheese that slid off. Called the restaurant and they did not apologize, and instead told us we had to bring the pizza back. We didn't have the energy to drive back, so asked if they were able to deliver. They asked the delivery man, and he said no. The restaurant said we could only get half the refund as store credit because we didn't bring the pizza back. Lesson learned: check your pickup order before you leave the restaurant!!! read more

Been a fan forever! Not a recent review but more of a request for a historical photo or two from the shack they used to have before the present building? I have so many fond memories. The old building was cramped, small dining area with tall narrow tables with stools. Just enough room on those tables to jam this always huge sandwich into your gaping maw. Breaded steak with sweet peppers and red gravy. Delicious need I say more? I finally tried their pizza and it was very good as well, but I wouldn't go there for just the pizza! It's a busy joint, lots of cops in and out as we sat. They know the good food joints so I know this place is consistently awesome. Heads up for you ladies though, bathroom is a little cramped. This is one of the few places I've gone to over the years and will always come back. The signature piece of course is their breaded steak sandwich (cheese no peppers please) but they also have other things you can get. If you are in Bridgeport and you don't try this place then you are missing out! One of my favorite places to get pizza, hot dogs or burgers. The fries come in a bag and it seems like a bottomless bag of fries which is always a great thing! It's got a giant dining room. You can still find a seat even when a Sox game is going on. Speaking of a Sox game, they let you park in their parking lot if you dine there and they have a shuttle that will take you to the Sox game! Good food and you get to enjoy a baseball game!
