Had food delivered at Rush University Medical Center for lunch. Every sandwich was labeled incorrectly. The manager name Judy was very rude and unapologetic now we tipped the driver and paid over 103 dollars for our order. I will never order from here again. Have never had an issue with this restaurant until today. Ordered two slices of pizza in the back after discussing the ingredients with the young lady in that section. I was assured that one slice had only vegetables and the other was spinach and cheese. Come to find out that the "vegetable" slice included sausage. So much for me not eating pork for over 20 years. I'm definitely going to be sick this evening and never going here again. I have had and stuck with the breaded steak sandwich which is really good. My friends have been coming for years and getting the chicken Parmesan sandwich and swear by it. So today I broke down and got that instead. What a mistake. First of all, they didn't put mozzarella on it. A Chicken Parm with no mozzarella is just a chicken sandwich. They swore that since 2009 every turn they have coke the chicken parm has had cheese. So we go up and ask for the cheese. We are charged $3. So confusing. So now we have cold chicken sandwiches with cold shredded mozzarella. It was really not good. Their fries are also bad. So I recommend this place for the breaded steak sandwich and that alone. Ricobene's has been a family favorite for years in my household. Growing up, my dad would always request their pan pizza for his birthday once a year. Beyond the pizza, everything else on their menu lives up to the hype. They've been around for decades, and that's how you know they're doing something right. My husband's friend from college was in town, so we came here for some breaded steak sandwiches. It was my first time getting it, it's delicious, but definitely not something I'd get on the regular (not the best for my health, but a guilty pleasure). My husband and I split a king size breaded steak sandwich with an order of fries, and I also did an order of garlic bread which is delicious but I wish it came with a marinara dip (it wasn't on the menu and wasn't offered to me at the counter -- wouldn't mind paying an up charge for it). My husband's friend and his wife each had their own breaded steak sandwich, they enjoyed it but didn't end up finishing the sandwich. You definitely get your money's worth here, we filled our bellies spending right around $20, and the best part is that the sandwich is loaded with delicious marinara sauce and meat -- we added giardiniera peppers on top of the sandwich (which are to die for, you haven't lived if you hadn't tried these peppers yet as a condiment). This place is an absolute Chicago classic. The service is super courteous and fast. The food is unbelievable. I'll write about what I tried while I was there. The breaded steak sandwich that they pride themselves on does not disappoint at all. I was extremely pleased with how it came out and tasted. Added cheese and giardinera for more flavor too. Be careful, this sandwich will make you sleepy afterwards. My colleague insisted that I try the pizza, which I did and I am glad I did so. The pizza crust was lighter than you usually get with deep dish, which was nice. The sauce and toppings were super fresh and I enjoyed every bite. Rosa J. recently has been wondering through the streets of Bridgeport, but she finally had her first taste of "Ricobene's." Their customer parking lot across the restaurant is HUGE! In the midst of economy cars and SUVs, I saw a CPD vehicle while hubby was looking for a spot. When a place is patronized, or even endorsed, by police officers, the food should be above average (at least that's what I've been assuming). I ordered their signature breaded steak sandwich with hot diardiniera. You would think it was going to be a freakin' hot mess due to its "intricate" appearance with runny marinara sauce and ingredients that a flimsy piece of bread couldn't normally handle. Wrong, baby, wrong, baby, wrong... I didn't use a bunch of napkins to tackle this big boy. The portion was quite large for a sandwich this caliber. The sandwich was surprisingly deliciously. I was also glad that I asked for hot giardiniera since I'm not too fond of things "drenched" entirely with marinara. In other words, the addition of diardiniera provided a bit of "kick" and "texture" to make it more interesting. The bread they used held up everything well. Therefore, a fork wasn't really need in my case. The dining room has an old-school vibe and is also a size of banquet hall. I can see why many people like Ricobene's: Chicago-style comfort food, reasonable prices, generous portions, and no fuss and fight on parking, and a great pre-game meal option since it's very close to the U.S. Cellular Field. read more

After a late night workout, my friend was feeling pretty hungry so we stopped by here to grab a few slices of pizza to go. I loveeee the huge parking lot across the street, there is nothing nicer in Chicago than FREE PARKING LOTS. Not that it'd be that hard to find parking in this area, but still FREE PARKING. There were still plenty of people / po - pos frequenting this restaurant even though we went so late around 11pm, and they don't close until 2 am ! We ordered the veggie deep dish, lasagna deep dish ( not so yums ), and a sausage deep dish. They stuck the pizza in the oven for a quick reheat, and then they were boxed and ready to go. $12 for 3, pretty affordable I'd say because a slice is enough for 2 people to share. I reheated the pizza at home so it could be super hot and melty, and oh my gosh buttery crust all day long. The veggie deep dish was my favorite because' it wasn't that salty, and the huge chunks of tomato were the perfect addition to the slice. The crust was really the best part about the pizza, to this day I have not had better crust in Chicago. BEST DEEP DISH, but bring home and reheat!! You will not be able to eat it at maximum deliciousness in the restaurant. read more

They forgot my fries! And I wasn't going to drive back to get it, so that kind of tinged the rest of my takeout experience here. The food was decent, I got the steak sandwich with fries and added an order of the arancini just because I can never pass that up. The arancini was decent, not the best, and I didn't realize you had to add cheese to the steak sandwich or maybe mine was just missing the cheese... There just seemed to be a lot missing from the fries to the flavor. I liked the very traditional Italian restaurant type decor/feel. I would definitely come back to try some of their other foods, and you really can't beat the prices for the amount of food you get. It is fantastic. And the regular size is huge. For me, it equals three lunches for $11.97 total including tax. For lightweights, you can choose sweet peppers instead. They currently offer takeout only. You can also sample many pizza varieties (deep dish vs thin crust) by slice only which is a plus instead of ordering an entire pizza unseen. Service is great. This place known for their classic breaded steak sandwich. It's quite the hearty sandwich so be ready cause it's quite filling. They make one mean sandwich. It's a bit saucy so be prepared to grab some napkins as you enjoy each bite. If you're a beginner you may want some utensils to help you out. It's great with the peppers they offer. I personally like to mix it up and can go with either the sweet or hot peppers. They both go great with the sandwich. Make sure you grab a nice cold drink to wash all that goodness down. A few of us were going to picnic at the Millennium Park so we decided to order carry-out from Ricobene's. I was looking at the menu online and noticed a 10% discount for first-time online purchases. I thought to myself, "Why not?!" Not a very good idea. I arrived at Ricobene's ninety minutes later for pick-up but the order wasn't ready. Apparently, one of the wait staff couldn't figure out how to properly process online orders. The lady at the cashier said, "Ugh...." *cue Britney's Oops! I Did It Again* The correction was made and I only had to wait five minutes. It was no biggie. BUT, I must say the food and portion size were very petty. The french fries were soggy and flavorless. It was barely a handful. McDonald's would've been a better option. The garlic bread was a mini Italian roll that fell short of six inches. The crisp was nowhere to be found and the garlic spread was kept at its minimal. There were six or seven mozzarella sticks in the order but it was a mouthful of batter. Ate here for lunch and heard great things about the breaded steak sandwich, so that is what I ordered. I would give the sandwich 4 stars, it basically tasted like a meatball sub. It was very messy, but you will not be hungry if you finish the entire thing, that is for sure. I also ordered their fries and were not impressed by those in the slightest. I would recommend this place. They have a large menu and I would like to try out different options. They also have free parking across the street, which is a huge commodity in the city, so take advantage of that! read more

What an awesome sandwich. Imagine a skirt steak pounded thin and tender, breaded and fried, then put that with homemade marinara, cheese and spicy peppers into a hoagie roll. The amount of steak is amazing - you cannot get your hands around the sandwich without getting covered in marinara. My wife and son used a fork and ate less then half of the sandwich, I leaned in and finally called it quits with a couple of bites left. All the way home we kept talking about how good it was and how much we wanted to go back. I have always been pretty partial towards a great Italian Beef sandwich, and Al's #1 by the hospital was my downtown "go to" place; however, Ricobene's has a lot of choose from (pizza looked great too) and parking is right across the street with plenty of seating inside.
