Tried the breaded steak sandwich. I was excited by the reviews. I was disappointed with what I received. The sandwich was ball park food quality at best. The cheese barely melted. The meat a sore excuse for steak. As other reviews stated, it's basically a meatball sub in the form of flat meat. I've received better at subway. I had the cheese fries too. Pretty much the same result. Maybe a bad day for the restaurant? I don't know. On other marks, clean interior. Friendly folks. The most overlooked and hidden gem of this place is the pizza. They always have phenomenal concoctions. My fiancée brought me home a slice (well, half a slice, it's a long ride) of lasagna pizza yesterday. It's heavenly. I usually have pretty strong willpower but it seems like every time my choices are eat ricobenes or abstain from ricobenes I usually give in and gorge myself. The pizzas are displayed for you to drool over, making choosing hard. Hence we usually end up with several different kinds. And empty plates. The beef is excellent, the steak sandwich is good but its like 3rd on my list so I rarely get it. The fries are soooooo good. And one time I got the antipasti salad (oh I don't know why don't ask) and that's delicious as well. A destination if you ask me. Just started a new job and the site is on the Southside. All my work buds ranted and raved about this place so I had to try it. I ordered a beaded steak sandwich of course because that's what they are known for. Let me tell you the portions were incredible. Steak sandwich was good, really hit the spot. Fries were sub par but what do you expect when they come in a brown paper bag. I'll definitely make this a normal lunch spot. Also this dude in there rocking a cane wad a clown. I would have given them 4 stars but every-time and I do mean every-time I call to get a crushed tomatoes with mushrooms and spinach delivered to my home, the call taker on the phone never has any idea what the name of the pizza actually is and we always spend 10 minutes trying to figure it out. What is even more amazing is that they sell this same pizza to go in the window for take out and yet nobody seems to know the name of it. My first job was at the Ricobene's in Orland Hills. Breaded steak and chicken vesuvio's made up about 90% of my diet in high school. Having lived in the suburbs most of my life, I've only been able to make the trip to 26th Street once since the Orland location closed. I very recently moved to Bridgeport and my first order of business was to see if my new apartment was in one of Ricobene's delivery zones. Luckily, it is. My girlfriend and I ordered a beef sandwich, a breaded steak, and an order of hot wings for delivery. The food arrived much earlier than expected and was still steaming hot. The sandwiches were both incredible and fed us both for two days. The wings were 10x better than I remember from my teenage years and are ranked in my top 3 best wings in Chicago. Serving the wings on a bed of fries makes a huge difference. Ricobene's will continue to be our go to delivery spot! read more

Great parking lot, which happens to be free. Awesome food with a wide menu. Some of the best Italian ice that I've ever had in my existence. My lady got the best bacon cheeseburger we've ever ate. I opted for the famous breaded steak sandwich with mozzarella cheese and sweet and giardinara peppers. The breaded steak is huge for a regular. The bacon cheeseburger is what you pray your charbroiled burger will taste like we also ordered some chili cheese fries. Better than any others I've had and I'm a burger joint expert. Did I mention some really great pizza? They have Italian beef sandwiches chicken vesuvio sandwiches and hot wings. This place is must. Clean tables and restaurant with fast service . On Monday I called to place a delivery order for an office party the following day. The woman who answered the phone was so rude I couldn't believe it. I still worked patiently through the phone order but when I was finished she said "Are you paying cash?" I replied that I wanted to pay with a card over the phone. Went in not knowing what to expect. I have come back to report that I am a fan. My dad and I came here on a whim after getting a fan from Home Depot for my new apartment. After getting lost in Chinatown for about 20 minutes we found the stretch of the Dan Ryan that my dad remembered parking under as a teenager. I ended up ordering what he order because I felt that, being from a family of Southsiders, it was about time I tried a breaded steak sandwich. The sandwich was very messy, but delicious. I normally find myself picking at steak because I always end up getting fatty chunks, but because they tenderize the steak so much I was able to gobble up the who thing. I added some peppers to add a bit of spice which really did the trick with this sandwich. I wasn't man enough to get through the regular sized one and I am quite frightened to see what the king size looks likes. My dad and I also got some of their homemade Italian Ice which was the perfect thing to un-stick the sandwich from my ribs. I've loved Ricobene's since I was a child, have had it delivered to me for a number of years at my office downtown, even ordered large amounts for meetings etc. I recently changed buildings and moved into 401 N. Michigan Ave downtown. Today I called to order and was told they would not deliver to me, that they cut off at 400 N. You're joking right? 400-401 and you refuse. I am told "That is the rule, no change" by the delivery manager? A bit idiotic. read more

Last time I was here was over 2 decades ago at their previous restaurant. When checking out choices for dining out I jumped at the chance to have Chicago Deep Dish pizza from one of my favorite joints of my youth. They didn't disappoint ! Great spinach, sausage and 1/4 anchovies for Mom. Delish. Such a pleasure sharing Ricabene's with my son. My son took the remainder back home to NYC. He said the pizza weighed 20 lbs. yum! read more

I was not very pleased with Ricobene's. I have been here multiple times. The Steak Sandwich is way to big and just loaded with meat but that is a personal preference. I was not even fond of the taste and I am not even a picky eater. However, the biggest problem I have with them is they always get orders wrong. I ordered a steak sandwich for my grandmother with no sauce and by time I got home, I realized to put a lot of sauce. This happened before as well. When I explained to them about the sandwich when going back, the cashier gave me an attitude about it. Only thing I did enjoy was their Mostaccioli with mozzarella cheese. They put a nice thick layer on top and the pasta was so delicious and filling. I had leftovers. They also charge for every little thing like sweet peppers (.44-.99) on the steak sandwich, cheese on the pasta ($2-$4 not sure) and other breaded steak sandwich(.99), and a sausage($3.89) in my pasta (choice was either sausage or meatballs so not sure why it was not included). read more

What can I say, but best breaded stake samich in the city of Chicago. Pizza is top shelf with awesome crust, fresh ingredients Once again they hold there own up in a pizza city. I work on the Chicago area but live in Wisconsin and when you get a craving for a Ricobene's breaded stake you have to answer. I have been known to road trip it just for one. The down side is they are extremely busy at most hours and there will be a wait. They do open at 9:00 a.m. so if working in the area I'll grab mine before the rush and eat it later. read more

Let me just start off by saying that Rico's has been my go to place whether it's with friends or family and even my school has had multiple fundraisers there. That being said I've spent a whole boat load of money at this place and never had any issues other than my boyfriend getting sick after eating pizza. Honestly we couldn't pin point that it was Rico's so we never said anything. Last night I ate there after the Sox game around 10pm and spent the night viciously being sick because of their broiled chicken sandwich. My boyfriend calls today to speak with a "manager" who told us that we had to prove that I was sick. She then went on to say the owners make the calls on refunds and that no one else got sick so she can't do anything. I called back to see if I could get the owners information and was told pretty much they don't care and that I need proof. After I told her that it was awful customer service to tell someone that they need a doctors note on a Sunday for a $15 meal, she then hung up on me. Poor, tasteless, no management skills and apparently don't want to keep customers. Ridiculous! Trust me I will NOT be spending my money here again. Update: I understand that proof is needed however what doctors office is open on a Sunday and how exactly does one even prove this??? Also, her being sympathetic and just refunding me for only my portion of the meal would have been accepted. I honestly wanted the follow up or at least someone telling me that someone would get back to me. I went for lunch yesterday with friends. It was on Check Please so we checked it out . A lot of cops & city workers in the place. I had the regular breaded steak sandwich.
