So we had to request silverware. Back to the steak.... Cooked PERFECTLY..... zero seasoning. Added a little salt and requested steak sauce and the steak was demolished. My wales saw my water getting low and said she was coming with more water. I finished my water she came by and asked if we needed anything.... Water please. With a few adjustments to the obvious (having silverware at the table when seating customers, and keeping a real eye out for drinks) this place might be alright. I ordered a 6" Classic Italian and a 6" Meatball sub with an order of Homemade Chips. I cut them in half so I can sample both and still have another meal or two for the next day. The chips were the best homemade chips, cooked until crispy. And both sandwiches were delicious and on fresh bread but I especially liked the Classic Italian which was fully loaded! The steak and cheese was great, as was the mountain of fries, nice crunch on the outside, and soft inside. Their fries are definitely noteworthy, I've never had this style anywhere else before, they're an odd hybrid between a potato chip and a French fry, but I really enjoyed them. Prices were very fair, they charge a little bit more for credit card use, but not much at all. The cashier was friendly, we placed our orders at the counter, and they'll call out your name when it's ready. For lunch on a Friday, I was impressed how quickly they were turning orders out. The interior is very spacious, providing plenty of seating, though a bit dated with it's checkerboard floor, it's got a bit of a nostalgic 50's diner feel. Overall, it was a great visit, and somewhere i'll surely be going back to again soon!! One other noteworthy thing, this is one of the few places I've been to in a long time that doesn't try to pressure you into a tip for your order, which I appreciated! This is a Saltah (traditional Yemeni stew) with melt in your mouth lamb that came out piping hot and bubbling in a clay bowl (see vid). You can feel, hear, smell and taste the authenticity in this dish. Spices and flavors flowing all over. It comes out with an amazing garlic sauce and a Yemeni style green sauce, almost like a salsa. And if that wasn't enough, you get the biggest clay oven bread (a Yemeni Malawah) you have ever seen. Words don't do it justice, see pics for details. This is honestly the perfect edible shovel. Tear some off, scoop up some bubbling lamb and spices, then drag it through the garlic and green sauce. Get messy...flavor the authenticity this dish explodes with. One of the best international experiences which transports you somewhere else.
