Came here after a show. Was a little apprehensive because there was only a few people there. We yelped the place and saw that it was only rated as an average of 3.5. But thought we'd give it a try. Glad we stopped by. Everything was delicious. Oysters were very small but delicious nonetheless. For happy hour we dropped $275 for four people. Six drinks, 64 shuckers, poutine, fries, baked ricotta and an expensive little crab Scottish egg (that was yummy but not $16 worth). I'll come back next time! read more

Rider is amazing! Everything from the decor, to the service, to the food, was perfect. We ate breakfast here both mornings in Seattle and it was hands down the best breakfast we've ever had. House cured thick sliced bacon, thick sliced sourdough that rivaled anything in San Francisco, and perfectly cooked eggs. You won't be sorry you tried Rider! read more

We went here to kill time prior to a movie for a snack and drink. This was our second visit with the first one being just for drinks after a failed movie outing and trying to find a place to watch a UW Husky game - Note, they do not have the Pac-12 Network channel so you will not find a Husky game here. On our second visit, they were out of our preferred Seapine beer so that was a bummer right out of the gate but, understandable- tough to keep great beer in stock no matter who you are. Our "snack" order was the Burrata, White Anchovy toast and the blistered Shishido peppers. Sorry to say the peppers were soggy, limp, lifeless and over cooked most likely in a unattended deep fryer and not blistered in a hot pan as described. When the peppers arrive and they are an drab olive green you know the result is going to be sad. The dish was adorned with crispy Kale chips which probably shared the hot oil bath with the peppers. Had to send this back and hate to think that people that order this are going away with the thought that this is how one of the best seasonal peppers is supposed to be prepared. They should be a bright deep green with blisters from being pan seared and crisp to the tooth and flavorful. Not so in this case for sure. The toast was also not without its flaws. The concept seemed well intended however, when the toast or stale bread is soooooooo tough you need a chain saw to cut through or chew it, something is amiss. That said, the Burrata was fresh and the white anchovy was flavorful but the bread and the gum gashing rock hard crust also made this dish less than it could have been. It's hard not to like a place that has the aroma of wood fired cooking but for these two dishes it was a double thumbs down. read more

We stopped in for lunch & a cocktail while Christmas shopping. The service was really slow & unorganized...waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine & cocktail...We just wanted to leave...however, ordered fish n chips, which is one large piece of greasy battered fish...$ 22. awful! $63. for lunch, a big waste of time and money. The burger is vastly overpriced for the quality, though it's a pretty big patty. I don't think the bacon really improved the experience, but the French fries were excellent. My husband and I enjoy coming to Rider on date nights. They have a good tasting menu that is reasonably priced. Recently I took my husband here for a lunch celebrating his 40th birthday and they did a wonderful job of making our experience delightful. They sat us in a romantic spot while also offering other seating options. I could tell they paid attention to my reservation notes. The food and drinks were excellent and they surprised us with donuts at the end. I was really pleased at how they made the special occasion feel special. read more

If you are looking to make a diner outing into an event, Rider is a great option. I recently went here with two other couples I had not seen for a while and it turned out to be the perfect setting. We did the family style option for the table, ending up with some great dishes we all could sample. It was a nice, relaxed, upscale experience. They just opened not too long ago. They have ways to go in terms of getting their food to equate to the prices they're charging. Service is more challenged than the food. Beware: they have mandatory 20% tip added to your bill. As an avid restaurant goer, I'm fine with that but the service I received was far from deserving the 20%. I'll go again and see if they're improving though. Restaurants need time to work out it's kinks but that honeymoon period is running out fast. read more

Just came into town needed a place to eat on a Sunday night after 9 and they were open :) Had their khorobi salad was outstanding ! Then the artichoke crab pasta was delicious. My husband had the rock fish and hazelnut cauliflower which was also delicious. As a foody I just love new twist on food. Yes it was a little pricey but for the area it was expected. This was a second choice for breakfast one Saturday when our first choice changed its hours and Yelp was out of date. They play at rustic and it's a swing and a miss. Service was mediocre. In a mostly empty restaurant they attempted to seat us at a table against a big post (uncomfortable), but we're amenable to moving us. The hostess ended up taking our order, a different person brought coffee and the gentleman who brought the main dishes was unable to tell the difference between a crab Benedict and scrambled eggs. Coffee was fair, but with a decent coffee stand attached, I didn't expect Folgers. We started with crab toast. Too much fennel (practically a salad and not a garnish) and the coconut milk was applied with such a heavy hand that the semi-toasted bread beneath had a structural failure. The tastes were great, the assembly failed. I had the crab Benedict, the crab was well cooked, the egg was well past poached. Not a little over, a lot. Maybe forgivable in a packed restaurant, Rider was not. The greens on the Benedict were stringy and bitter. Not a good menu choice. I found the potatoes mediocre. My wife had the basic breakfast with bacon (they call it something else). Her toast had a weird flavorless oil on it (maybe it was butter, but there was no flavor at all). The scrambled eggs were fine and she like the potatoes. The bacon was so thick it might as well have been pork belly. I love thick cut bacon, this was too much. It was, however, cooked well. Overall, it wasn't awful. But in a city of choices for breakfast, I probably won't be back. read more

I was super excited to try this restaurant and finally got a chance to stop in for lunch. The space itself is really cool and I expect it wasn't very busy since it's so new. Opting for a lighter lunch, I had the steamed clams which were really salty and had a lot of sand it them still. My friend had the pork sandwich which he was was really good. Someone next to us had the burger which looked amazing but not sure how it tasted. There are some other things I'd come back to try so hopefully I'll like it better the second time around. read more

I really love the food, drinks and atmosphere here. It's nice to stop by after a long day at work to grab a quick drink. Unfortunately the staff can be rude. I was in on Wednesday and after I came back from the restroom at 11:32pm my friends informed me the staff were kicking us out and had turn on all the lights. I understand not being at a place of service after hours and think it is really rude when people do stay past but they are open until midnight and for the staff to say "yes we are kicking you out" is inappropriate. :( read more

Get it together, people. We arrived 6:30pm on a Tuesday. Not too busy. Still, our lousy drinks did not arrive until after 7pm. The red bearded bartender is a train wreck. We watched the ice melt into our drinks as they sat in their mixing glasses for ~15 minutes, while he horsed around with the servers. He then tried to do some sort of trick and broke a seltzer bottle, spraying tiny shards of glass all over the bar set up and entire array of drink garnishes. Uh, no thanks... We'll not have another. Food menu is strange and unappealing. We do like the decor and the way the place is set up. And our server was a doll. We'll give it a few months and try back later to see if things improve. read more

Giving this place 1 star because there isn't a feature. Our hotel staff was ranting and raving about this place so we figured let's check it out...bad move! Really glad I walked into this spot on a whim. Very good food that focuses on what the PNW does well. Menu isn't cheap, but portions are solid and flavors are fantastic, so I never felt like the price was a mismatch with what I got. Meh. Food was very good and happy hour menu prices were great. Service, however, from hostess to servers, left a lot to be desired. All three of our party experienced staff attitudes as supercilious and a bit as if they were thinking, "Don't ask stupid questions". For example, we asked our server, "How is the Rosé, is it dry?" This makes for a lazy bartender ; there's no need to dazzle guests or go the extra mile if you're already receiving auto- gratuity. My husband and I came here with a group of friends. Since we arrived early we sat i the bar for a cocktail and appetizer. The tuna tartare was delicious and the craft cocktails were nice too. From there the experience went downhill as we entered the main restaurant. Crowded tables, seated near the open flame oven just diminished the atmosphere. The wait staff was in my opinion just horrible. Never greeted, never briefed on the menu and just overall a lackluster experience from food to service to ambiance. Seems like they only want to cater to the theater crowd that runs in out of here. I might visit the bar again but not anytime soon. read more

DO NOT GO FOR GROUP HAPPY HOURS. I'll keep this short- I was asked to show my ID 3 times in 2 hours while at happy hour with a group of co-workers... I believe it was the manager who dismissed the waiter once she realized we were a larger group and each time she came back would ask IDs of everyone.. again. I didn't get younger while sipping on my wine... Then she refused to split the bill after we had all ordered - and disclosed this AFTER we ordered, not before. When asked if we could pay at the bar, she said no and warned the bartender not to let us. Never have I been to a bar that made it hard for me to give them money. What a horrible experience and I can find the same overpriced drinks within walking distance. Similar to other reviewers, it's like they don't want you to patronize their establishment. read more

Great pre-theater stop for cocktails or happy hour. We were celebrating so our party chose to have dinner family style which was so delicious and unique.... oysters as an app and then a tomahawk steak with crab mashed taters, pull apart rolls, and roasted cauliflower for our meal. The chef treated us to a salad that was a beautifully presented root veggie creation. Very friendly and helpful waitstaff that didn't rush us to order but checked in on our timeline for getting to the 5th Ave for the show. This restaurant desperately needs an identity. It's not that the food was bad (although all dishes lacked salt and the correct seasonings), it just lacked direction. The steak tartare had so much Aleppo pepper on the lavash, that it was overpowering the meat. Why? The meat itself had virtually no flavor until we asked for salt. The entrées were confusing in terms of flavor combinations, so we avoided them. The other apps and sides each had ingredients that were just...off. What is this restaurant trying to be? I love the space, but the restaurant was empty on a very busy Seattle Pride Weekend, which should've been a dead giveaway. read more

Came in last Saturday with my girlfriends and YUM! Had the fries, rolls and chorizo (sp?) clams for appies! (Delicious and I don't even care for clams, they had me at chorizo.) Honestly, I don't mind paying for expensive food.. if it's worth it. BUT this place is super expensive and food was not good at all.
