Quality/Quantity - Wow, what a small world. Bumped into our friends from a cruise 2 years ago here. We both showed up in Seattle on the same day. We were both going to Japan via a cruise, but on different cruise lines. Met for drinks and snacks. Got the local beers - D-Mac & Jack Ambers and a local Imperial IPA. Some chicken wings and fries. All of which were good. But really, we were here for the company, not the food. Closed the bar, but our friends had more beer in their room, so we went for round 3+... My friends and I came here while staying at Warwick Hotel to start our night out with a cocktail before heading out for a night on the town. Place was pretty empty. They serve food as well. Our bartender was nice and really made our drinks strong, which we appreciated. He chatted us up and gave some recommendations for the area. We had drink tickets, so our drinks we luckily comped. We stayed at the Warwick Hotel and didn't feel like hitting the streets at night so we had dinner at Margaux, conveniently attached to the hotel lobby. It was a quiet evening so we had no problems getting seated right away and it was very easy to get a hold of our waiter whenever we had a question or needed something. Our bellies were still recovering from lunch so dinner was a light fare for 3 - - cup of clam chowder (fine, but there are better) - brussel sprouts (highly recommend!) - cobb salad (good but chicken was dry AF) - strawberry cheesecake (highly recommend!) Don't know if we would go out of way to eat here but it is a solid choice when staying at the Warwick. I would dine here again during our trip. read more

Our server was attentive and quick to refill our drinks, they were helpful in answering some questions, and when there was an issue with the food they were gracious and eager to help. the food left A LOT to be desired. My youngest ordered a kids order of chicken strips. What was delivered to the table was a few scraps of tree bark on a bed of fries. We were told that the chef said they werent too dark, it was just a different batter than normal. Right. Even before tasting them I could smell burnt oil on them. I tasted them myself to be sure, and when I finally found a piece that wasn't jerky, it very distinctly tasted burnt and oily. My own meal was fish and chips. The fish was tasteless and over cooked and the batter was bland and soggy. The best part of the dish was the fries and tartar sauce, both of which I suspect are store bought. That being said, our server helped my daughter get a replacement "meal" (a large order of fries) and in the end she left happy. Went to Margaux because it was connected to the hotel and we really didn't feel like walking anywhere. Customer service was great. Everyone was soooo friendly. The restaurants looks like an older dim restaurant for an older crown. The food was basic. The French onion soup was good , the bolenese was good but definitely lacked a lot of flavor. We ate breakfast every day during our 4 day trip. The food was very good tasting. The executive chef came out to meet us and get feedback on the food quality. Took constructive criticism very well, and very proactive to adjust the menu. We did dinner one night here and I thought the chowder was excellent, the salmon cooked excellent, and was visited by the executive chef again at our table. The atmosphere is so very nice! We love the rigatone bolognese the meat and sauce is so good. I tried the roasted chicken because my grandson wanted to taste the ratatouille from my plate. I'm glad I did, chicken was juicy and perfect and the ratatouille sauce was perfect with the chicken. Pretty nice hotel restaurant, and makes the meal worth your money when you can actually enjoy your meal. Earlier this week I was at Margaux for a first date. I chose the location randomly simply because it was in my dates neighborhood. Our plan was to meet, vibe check, and have a quick cocktail before heading off to other things. We ended up spending several hours in the quietly swanky, comforting embrace of this little jewel box. Our bartender, Brandon, was perfect - he made us feel like we could have been in a bar in Paris, or Rome, or NYC on a rainy night when the evening will inevitability end with a kiss, which it did. Tbh idk how this place got this much hate cause our experience was more than solid. Our server Paolo took care of us well and were sat immediately despite being in the middle of dinner rush time. Food came out fast and the portions were huge. The berry portion of the club hit different and made it all worth it. Probably wouldn't have been able to finish the single dish by itself so glad I had the Mrs to half with. The carbonara was amazing as well and for most places we go to skimping out of the proteins the dish was stacked with chicken and mushrooms. For desert we had the raspberry chocolate lava cake and never has a cake like that been so fluffy and just melty as this. We usually have dinner at Margaux before catching a show at the Moore. It is a quiet space, usually do not need a reservation and the food is normally pretty decent. The service has always been slow, I've noticed, usually just one staff person running around but since it is never very busy, the service has always been decent. We went and had dinner on Sunday 9/14 and the service was pretty abysmal. The worst its ever been. It wasn't busy, there were like two tables with 2 people in each booth. The waitress looks like she was in the weeds for being as empty as it was. We ordered our drinks and they tasted off, the jack and coke and rum and diet tasted flat/watered down. The drink tasted like they've been sitting on the counter for 2 hours. My husband said his Old Fashion was the worse he has ever tasted. He wasn't even sure if the bartender knew how to make an Old Fashion. The waitress took our order without writing anything down. Is this a trend? The last few times a wait staff tried to memorize orders, they got it wrong, like what is wrong with writing stuff down? I don't go to a staff meeting at my job without a pen and paper, am I weak for needing to write things down? Anyway, the food took forever, during that time, we witness both table next to us sending food back to the kitchen. I ordered a bowl of soup to start, I got a cup (again, writing things down!!) about 10 minutes later. We were joking that someone must be shucking the clams in the back to make my chowder from scratch, ha, it certainly doesn't taste like it was made from scratch. More like the one chef in the kitchen didn't have time to ladle some soup out of the pot because he was too busy remaking everyone's food. Anyway, my friend's burger came first, it was ok. I was giving a club sandwich which was not what I ordered so the waitress took it away. We had to wait 10 more minutes for my husband and my food while our friend sat and stared at her burger sadly because she didn't want to start without us. My wife and I recently stayed at the Warwick attatched to Margaux for our honeymoon. The night we got into town, we were tired but wanted a nice dinner. While the hostess was nice, she was not very attentive due to handling the entire crowd. We waited some time for coffee, which was mediocre. He was not helpful with the menu and just impatient that we didn't know right away what we wanted to order. The place only had 3 parties of under 4 diners. My wife and I flew out to Seattle from Orlando to celebrate our 25th, and a night at this Margaux was reserved as the icing on the cake for this occasion. The 1 appetizer we were able to order after standing and waiting then sitting for like 25 minutes was tasteless. The server could not have cared less about our presence in his territory, and he couldn't have made it clearer had he spoken those very words. Fortunately, this hotel restaurant is across the street from a different hotel restaurant that has a welcoming staff. Evidently no one that matters at Margaux is paying attention to customer reviews. The best part of our hotel was hands down the Margaux. The chefs are actually very good and the food was all sooo yummy. I would recommend the bolognese pasta. My son loved then bolognese sauce and ate it by itself for dinner two nights in a row. We also had the side of mixed veggies and it was a deliciously seasoned blend of fresh vegetables, which was unexpected. The service could definitely use some help. While the staff was accommodating, the wait staff hardly came by the table and made it difficult to order additional items or drinks. It is also very dark in the restaurant and the lights are not turned up when it gets dark outside, so be prepared for very very dim lighting. The drink selection is pretty limited. Especially for beers. It seemed like all of their specialty/local drafts were out of stock regularly. read more

We got there right on time if not a little early for our reservation. The hostess said she couldn't find our reservation and I showed her the conformation and she said this happens all the time with OpenTable. She said she could not get us in for another 25 minutes because there were many reservations in front of us. The restaurant was empty except for 3 other small tables. Finally she sat us at one of the many open tables. Not one person came in the hour we were there and when we left not a single table was full. We were pretty sure they just didn't want to take any more tables so they could go watch the parade. We ordered some drinks, calamari as an appetizer, I had a cup of clam chowder, and my daughter ordered a bowl of French Onion Soup. We got our soup/chowder, but not the calamari. We flagged down the waiter, he checked on it and came back to say the chef left early and another would cook it. (They did comp the calamari since it was forgotten.) As for the food, the chowder was very tough, difficult to chew, "clams". The calamari was a very small serving of obvious frozen calamari, definitely not fresh hand breaded. Service required us staying on top of our order when there was only 1 other table of people at the time. NOW, let's jump 3 days forward to Friday night. We came back from seeing a play and checked online for the Margaux bar hours, or else look for another in the area. See attached photo. It stated weekends until midnight. We got to the hotel at 10:50 pm and went straight to the bar to get a drink. We walked in and the female bartender literally through her arms up, towel in one hand, and said "You guys are killing me! The bar is closed!" We were completely shocked, humiliated, and embarrassed and left immediately, despite seeing other tables with fresh drinks on them ( full to the brim). We went straight to our room appalled. This was the first time (and only) to go there for a drink. The bartender was 1,000% unprofessional and treated us like bums off the street she wanted to shoo off. In summary from our 2 experiences at Margaux, I recommend not to take a step inside unless you want overcooked, not fresh food, and staff that yells at you because it is 10 minutes before closing, despite the posted time online that states an additional hour. The banana foster's French toast was amazing, so that was the only good part of our experience. My fiancé ordered the pancakes with berry compote, but it did not come with berry compote or whipped cream as described on the menu (it came with a very small amount of fresh berries instead and no whipped cream or butter, all for an extra $4.00). There was only one server in the whole restaurant, so it was taking forever for everyone to be seated and served. I would recommend not seating as many people if you can't effectively serve them. I could tell most people in the restaurant this morning were not happy with their experience either. read more

Things close a bit early in this area of Seattle. Why? No idea. However, things were about to start reopening post pandemic so perhaps this is temporary. So after a full day of fun we were wondering where we might get some food after 9pm. Margaux is connected to The Warwick Hotel and you can enter from the lobby or a separate entrance outside. It looks like a typical bar/restaurant. At first we were unsure but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. Friendly service too even though they were swamped with orders. We shared a sizable bacon cheeseburger cooked to order (medium rare) with choice of cheese (American) with fries. Beefy, well seasoned and tasty. Crispy fries were piping hot too. Yes. We also shared a big Cobb Salad that was also good with big chunks of avocado, bacon, blue cheese etc and some sliced chicken with choice of dressing. We took it all back to the room and chowed down while happily watching tv. Think four stars is too much? Margaux is an ok hotel restaurant/bar. From the name and the look I was thinking it would be higher quality but it isn't. The menu has a mix of dishes that I think are there to follow the last local food crazy. Their appetizer are called "tapas" so they can charge more for smaller plates and seem relevant. If you get the shrimp, skip the sauce which I think is a salad dressing that lessens the shrimp. They do a 3 for 2 Tapas HH, nice if you want to group share but a full price plate is a better value. read more

If you are lazy, look to kill some time before going to Cinerama, or just want some quick bite while you stay at War Wick Hotel, this restaurant is perfect for you. There is nothing wrong with the service. The waitress is friendly and prompt with our continental breakfast orders. It's quite expensive than a standard restaurant, but it's a hotel restaurant. My boyfriend and I had vouchers for continental breakfast, so we received 3 pastries , yogurt cup, and a choice of coffee and/or juice. I thought the pastries were good because they served croissant. I love croissant! :) It's a light breakfast, so it'll be perfect for you to begin the morning with.
