Renting a boat online is quick and easy, and they occasionally offer discount codes, which is a nice bonus. The staff is always pleasant, helpful, and genuinely seems to enjoy their work, which makes the whole process even better. We usually rent a patio boat since it comfortably holds up to 10 people. They're easy to drive, great on gas mileage, and the fuel cost has never been unreasonable. (I'd recommend skipping the prepaid fuel option--it usually works out cheaper that way.) Another perk is that dogs are allowed on the patio boats! Just note that medium and large dogs count toward the passenger total, so it's a good idea to double-check when making your reservation. Two things to keep in mind: (1) During the fall season, all boat rentals need to be returned by 3:00 PM. (2) It costs $25 to get into the park. If you're planning on coming 2 or more times within a year, I'd recommend getting the Park Pass for $45. Overall, Katherine's Landing is a reliable and fun spot for boat rentals, and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a great day out on the lake!

Housekeeping was outstanding -- whatever we needed, they took care of it immediately. The rooms in that tower are a little dated, but there's plenty of drawer space and a great view of the river, at least in the room we had, which was on the 17th floor along the river. The rooms offer a Keurig-style coffee maker and bottled water which is free. Water pressure in shower was decent. The only downside is there's no in-room safe. The casino floor is loaded with slots, including a lot of modern machines, plus a decent-sized table games area. There are a few restaurants and a small food court. Staff throughout the casino -- including the drink waitresses -- are constantly checking if you need something, which was a nice touch. We primarily ate at the Aquarius Café because it has amazing deals and the food is decent (reminded me of old Vegas deals) Overall eating there was a huge savings compared to the other options. Valet parking is free, which is another nice touch. And like all the casinos along the river, you've got quick access to water taxis to hop over to other casinos. Some employees were very friendly and helpful, while others weren't welcoming at all. Unfortunately, the rooms were terrible and clearly lacked proper cleaning. The room immediately gave me the heebie-jeebies. There were strands of hair all over the bathroom, the vents were caked with dust, the carpets were filthy, and the walls looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. There was also a strong odor in the room that management appeared to be trying to cover up with an overpowering deodorizer, but it only made the room more unpleasant. The sinks and toilets were dirty, the refrigerator barely stayed cold, and the air conditioner never cooled the room enough to be comfortable. The pool was dirty, overcrowded, and not enjoyable. The drinks were also extremely overpriced--$17 for a drink that definitely wasn't worth the cost. The casino was another disappointment. The amount of cigarette smoke combined with poor ventilation was overwhelming and gave me a headache. One experience that really concerned me involved my 10-year-old nephew. He hurt himself while we were at the pool, and when we asked a staff member for an alcohol pad, we were told they didn't have any. I couldn't understand how a hotel with a pool wouldn't have basic first-aid supplies readily available. After my brother found another employee, we were finally given two alcohol pads, but it shouldn't have taken that much effort. If it had just been my husband and me, we would have packed up and driven the four hours back home or found another hotel. Since we were traveling with our children, we decided to make the best of it. I ended up wiping down the room and bathroom with bleach wipes myself and told the kids to keep their shoes on the entire time because I didn't feel comfortable with the cleanliness of the room. One final thing that made our stay uncomfortable was the number of stares we received for being Black. I can't say what anyone was thinking, but we had several moments that made us feel unwelcome. Overall, this hotel was a huge disappointment and nowhere near worth the price. Between the lack of cleanliness, maintenance issues, poor first-aid preparedness, uncomfortable atmosphere, and overall experience, I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

We had points/tickets on the card and when we went to refill it, the points disappeared. Then after a few minutes of playing, the points reappeared, but the money I had refilled disappeared. That was a bit upsetting as you can't prove that happened. The elevators in the North tower didn't seem to be all working and at times there was a long line and wait time to get in.

Decided to try and save $10 and picked the lottery room and didn't realize this hotel still had smoking rooms. Couldn't change it at reception, they were all sold out. My mistake, smelled like carcinogens in there but we only had one more night there. Go to the beach with my family, have a great time. We come back to the room, I play some music while getting ready on my speaker I brought with me. We notice we left the bed all sandy from the beach and call room service for our sheets to be changed. We leave to dinner with my family for approximately 2 hours. We come back and our towels and our trash are on the hallway outside the door. A lipstick stain that is not mine is on the towel. We think it's strange, walk in and notice the bed has not been touched. Very weird. We decide to clean up and listen to some music before we go back down with my family to gamble. The speaker is gone. THE HOUSEKEEPER STOLE MY SPEAKER. My JBL $150 speaker. Nothing has been done by management. They will look into it and get back to me in a few weeks. Don't stay here.

Also, there might be 7 television channels available but we had a great river view. We stuck to eating at the different themed casinos within the Lodge. We went to Red Dragon and tried the pot stickers & pork char siu with rice; sadly no sauces were available & the staff seemed very frustrated not having the necessary supplies. By the way, they will not pour a drink in a paper cup for you in case you want to take it outside for some reason. Still it was cheap with a total of $10.80 for both dishes. We also tried a personal pepperoni pizza at Dotty's, which wasn't bad just not very hot/ warm. I believe that cost was $7.00. The last thing we tried was a pot roast dip sandwich at U1 that included fries & au jus. The flavor was good but the sandwich had no cheese at all; cost $7.00. U1 has great affordable food, slots, staff & atmosphere. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone traveling; it's unique, comfy & affordable with no resort fees
