I had to retract my previous review. The food is still good. Hence the 2 stars. Unfortunately we've been over charged the past 3 times - & that establishes a pattern. Was in the area and seen this place and decided to give it a try, my expectations were very high considering the high reviews. I walked in and the place was little but nice. I order my food and the portions sizes were HUGE, it was enough to feed 2 of us. I order the rice with red beans, the steak, a beef empanada and a potato ball. The steak was really delicious, as for the rest, not so much. The beans needed a little more flavor. I FOUND A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN MY RICE! Don't know how that got in there! The beef empanada, where was the meat? Opened it and a spoonful of meat in it? And lastly, the potato ball, the meat did not look like it was cooked all the way and severely lacked flavor. I do not recommend a restaurant that while you choose what you are going to bring to your family, they withdraw in front of the customer what you are going to buy because someone at that moment called and separated something! First I have to say how clean the place was, I loved that. The food looked fresh and delicious And it was! I had the arroz con gandules, lechón and the maduros and no complaints. My husband had the mangu with 3 golpes and he ate the whole thing. The amount of food for the price- no complaints there either. 4 stars because they could be a little more friendly. The guy came out and just asked what we wanted to order.... no good morning or anything and me and my husband were the only ones there so it's not like they were busy that there was no time to be pleasant. Food was worth several repeat visits. Cuban sandwich was made after ordering, hot, and had good flavor. Included meats, pickles, and mustard as expected. Bread could have been more toasted and pressed. Plantains had a nice, mildly sweet taste. Prices are appealing for amount of food you get. Portion sizes are on larger size. They had an interesting assortment of beverages including fresh juices. The service left much to be desired. Several employees seemed confused about what I had ordered and whether it was to go or not (they never asked). My wait upon arrival for even an acknowledgement was on the lengthy side. I know very little about Latin food but WOW this is probably the best food in town, period. I had the most tender beef shoulder I have ever had in my life. Bogus lunch special. Sign said it starts at 12:00. I got there earlier and the cashier said I would not get the soda that comes with the lunch special since I was early. Tried the steak and onions which was tough full of gristle. It was like chewing meat gum. Spit more out than ate. Got a couple of Chicken empanatas. They were really, really, EMPTY. Superb! We were pleasantly surprised after having our dinner delivered by BiteSquad containing such favorites as pernil, roast chicken, platanos, empanadas, and a sandwich Cubano. The pernil was tender and flavorful while not too salty. The chicken was moist and had the most outstanding flavor of any chicken we've had outside of California and Texas! Lelo's does a bang-up business here, but disappointingly, their rotisserie chicken's odd flavor doesn't come close to El Rincon Sabor's savory flavor! And lastly, the Cuban sandwich is done right - completely authentic, and doesn't skimp on the pork, and Cuban bread is pressed the way it should be for a Cubano. If there was one slight disappointment, the empanadas, while large, were a bit hollow - they could have used a bit more filling, and the desserts were out of stock (flan and tres leches).
