The tacos hit the spot! Soft and fluffy tortillas. The marinated pork was definitely my favorite but all very tasty. I recommend ordering the tomatillo sauce with the tacos. Great spot!

Haven't been here in a while, but they are always consistent! I always get the same thing but thought I would try something new. I ordered the burrito fajita.... it was huge and very good! It was packed with steak, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and just enough rice and beans! More steak than beans and rice is a win! The flavor was delicious! Our server was so friendly and attentive! We won't wait so long to go back! It was delicious!

I have never had a bad experience at Rio Chico and this location also did not disappoint. Little did I know that they had a special Valentine's Day menu for drink. I knew I had to get the blushing fish margarita! It looked tasty and so adorable! To make it over the top and stick to the theme of love, they even served my drink with a heart coaster and matching napkin! Stop! That's Adorable! The service was great! We never ran out of chips, salsa, or water! I really hope they do more seasonal theme drinks because I was in love!! The food is also so cheap and delicious, ya just can't beat it!

My first thought upon entering was how bright and vibrant the decor was. This restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes made from scratch. A friend told us that these recipes have been passed down from generation to generation. I had the blue motorcycle cocktail and the Rio quesadilla which were both very tasty and satisfying. I could have done without the refried beans. My boyfriend said his tacos were just meh. I also felt that there was a bit of a language barrier, which is why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars. I truly appreciate people who make an effort to learn the language of the country they are living in.

Good option if you are looking for a fast casual Mexican restaurant in the West Ashley area. They gave us 6 different salsas to try (we requested something super spicy and they brought us options which was great)... our favorite was the light orange salsa, not sure what is was called but it was a little creamy, semi spicy, and orange in color... great flavor. Ordered the Burrito El Jefe. It didn't have too much flavor - think the meat inside should be seasoned more (not sure that it was at all.) Not overwhelmingly good, but not bad! Service was good. They were quick, attentive, and thorough.

This pace is really good. We've been here several times over the years and it's definitely has its ups and downs. But it's been very good the last few times I've been. I get a variety of things whenever I go depending on my mod. One of my favorite dishes I've had is the Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo. The shrimps are cooked really well and the scallops are cooked perfectly. 10 out 10 The queso and salad are also very good here as well. And the drinks are really good too. Not to watered down with mix.

Cute little neighborhood restaurant. Our waiter Eduardo was excellent. Food was good. Prices are reasonable.

The food was good but not amazing. The service was good and attentive. The best part was the atmosphere. It was super cute and colorful.

We decided to give this place a try because we were in the area, it was evening time, and we were starving. The place is pretty big and it wasn't too packed but still busy. Our server was not as customer friendly as he could have been. He seemed like he was in a rush and we were an inconvenience. The food was just okay. From the chips, salsa, and queso to the bland-flavored fatty gristle meat and lack of cheese. It was not flavorful as the ingredients tasted cheap. The margaritas are terrible as well. It was like drinking straight out of the cheapest sour mix. I was highly disappointed.

Got the veggie platter option of an enchilada, tamale, rice + beans, plus a generous margarita!

I first heard about Rio Chico through my church bulletin and since then happy I gave them a try. As soon as you sit down you're greeted with a basket of tortilla chips and their house made salsa. The menu is like a book - filled with helpful images and so many options. The portions here are perfect and the margaritas are powerful!! This is one of my favorite restaurants to enjoy. There's something wonderful about the combination of rice + beans, their sauces + salsas, washing it down with a margarita, and feeling alright in the world. Outstanding customer service as well. ¡Vamos!

It's not my favorite type of Mexican restaurant, as it's a little more upscale than I *personally* prefer, but if upscale Mexican is your vibe, then this'll be the perfect restaurant for you! They had an alright selection of beers, to include a couple of IPAs, but my friends and I didn't really enjoy their cocktails. They were expensive, but lacking in much flavor or zest. Besides looking cool, the taste didn't really match the aesthetic. Furthermore, the food was solid, but not that much better than your basic Mexican restaurant. As for the service, our waiter was nice enough, but he always seemed to be in a hurry, and was walking away while we were still trying to give our order. All-in-all, I'm probably making Matador sound worse than it was, but it was merely a slightly above-average Mexican experience, not a transcendental dining experience that I'll never forget. I'll give it 3/5 stars, and would recommend it based on your personal preference.

Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants like Bartaco, but I've been pleasantly surprised: their food is reliably good! (Of note, the Bartaco in Hyde Park Village in Tampa DOES take reservations, unlike this one). I wish this Bartaco also took reservations. On busy days, you can easily expect a 30-45 minute+ wait to be seated here. That being said, the guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) and it came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).
