We arrived with a group of 12! It was a busy Sunday evening but we were able to be seated within half an hour. We made separate orders for 2 pizzas and 2 orders of wings and many pitchers of beer. This is my first time at Rio's Pizza in Montebello but I use the one Monterey Park just next to East L.A. College years ago but not there any more. I really enjoy their subs including their pizza they so good that was then. Now trying this Rio's Pizza to bring old memories I was looking at their menu to something to caught my eye the sub section look good I decided to order the turkey and cheese sub and a side salad with Italian dress by the side. I waiting they call my number finally they did I took my food home. I open the container that have my turkey and cheese sub it looks amazing good then I took a bite wow the bread is really soft and chewy that's kind of bread I like. The turkey meat was good including the cheese and addition of mayo and also comes potato chips. The side salad was good I enjoy it. Horrible service just called to ask if the meatballs they sell are beef or if they have pork due to a food allergy. Unfortunately didn't get the persons name who answered the phone but this took place on 9/3 around 8:38pm she said she was not able to answer that and that I should not eat any meat at all apparently she is a medical professional. So rude and will never bring my business to this place and will let everyone I know and social media about this experience that they don't care about peoples food allergy. Rude and incompetent staff, lack of manager oversight, and lack of customer service have really made Rios the worst pizza spot to come to. Asking questions or requesting add-ons seems to be a real challenge by the way the staff reacts. If you want to be a family business, start acting like one. Don't phone in your order! The customer service stinks, and 8 times out of 10, they have "lost" my order or have "forgotten" to write it down. The pizza is still the same (thank God), but I know this. So my family and I have a habit of coming to this place every single time after practice after a game for our kids, softball baseball practices and games. They've really updated the location and the place over the last couple years but the flavor still the same and I deeply deeply appreciate the home feeling that you get when you walk in there. It is a Mom and Pop location. They are in busy shopping center. we always get the Lush specials. Over all I'm very happy with the quality of Rio's pizza, and this is my favorite place to grab pizza in montebello.... but as of lately, I feel like they've been skimping on the cheese. The toppings are always great, but the cheese just isn't anywhere close was it use to be, so minus 1-star. But they definitely earned that star back in my eyes with all of their safety/covid precautions. They are super careful when it comes to making sure their customers are getting great service while still abiding by county guidelines.
