YUM!! I was in El Paso late this week and thanks to Yelp, I decided to try this place. Oh my. It is GOOD. I was there for lunch and ordered the soup/sandwich combo. The vegetable panini was delicious - (not too much) cheese, marinated portobello mushroom, sweet grilled onions, roasted red peppers with a layer of pesto. The soup of the day, green chile and potato, was pureed and spicy but not too spicy. I ordered a glass of the tropical iced tea as well and the total was $11. The location is a bit far away from downtown but well worth the drive. Similar to what I find in many southwestern cities, this place is in a strip mall. There's a big sign out front advertising the location..... the sign seems more fitting for a mattress sale..... then you step inside to delightful decor, great ambiance, and superb food. Oh, and really nice waitstaff. Not that I plan on it, but if ever I end up in El Paso again, Ripe is my top choice of places to eat. One more thing - they keep strange hours. At least on weekdays, they are open from 11a - 3p, then open again at 5p for dinner. Had they been open at 4p as I drove to the airport, I would have picked up a take away dinner from them. Instead, I had to choke down an airport venue cheese quesadilla with no veggies. They even ran out of salsa. Damn you for taking a siesta, Ripe! I needed your food! read more

Website is incorrect and the staff doesn't care to rectify it. I went in for lunch and checked the website for how long the brunch menu on the weekends was available it states until 2pm. I knew I was going to order a to go order on my way out so at 1:33 I stopped to ask about a to go order from the Brunch menu and was informed that they stopped making brunch at 1:30. I informed them the website clearly has the menu until 2pm advertised, got basically a shrug and a decline to make the item. This place was PACKED for Easter brunch! We had about a 20 minute wait, which they informed us right when we put our name on the wait list. We were seated at a two top, and a server arrived promptly with a warm greeting and to take our drink order. I was disappointed to find out they were out of the wine vodka they use to make their Bloody Mary cocktail, so I opted for the Bloody Maria (which is made with beer) it was ok, but I really wanted to try the Bloody Mary! I ordered the Huevous Rancheros, and my husband ordered the Brisket sandwich. Both were delicious! The brisket sandwich is on a ciabatta roll, my husband opted to eat it open face because it was a lot of bread! The roasted potatoes that came with both entrees were excellent. They were cooked perfectly, not tasting like they were cooked a while ago and sat under a heat lamp like so many restaurants do these days! Service was friendly and efficient given how busy they were I was impressed that none of the staff appeared harried or overwhelmed. We will definitely go back for an evening meal and to try some other delectable selections on their menu. We did see they offer a Prime Rib special on Monday (we are serious carnivores!), and 1/2 off bottles of wine on Wednesday! read more

The customer service is usually great here. The craft beers are usually great. You can always ask for a sample before you buy. The calamari has nice twist to it that makes it a little different but simply amazing. The ravioli is absolutely delicious. With all that said their MVP is the Triple B. My favorite burger is the Au Cheval in chicago but the triple B has to be my second favorite burger. Must Try!!! read more

Haven't been here in a while but thought I would post a quick review - there is one dish that makes me really want to go back to Ripe. The soy ginger calamari. If you like calamari, this is the holy grail. It's an appetizer but last time I got TWO orders of soy ginger calamari and that was my meal. If I were on death row, I would request Ripe's soy ginger calamari as my last meal. Everything else is good, too, and the service is fantastic, but that soy ginger calamari does it all for me! Quick Update: Had to go to Ripe last night for the soy ginger calamari. Got TWO orders, as usual. It did not disappoint. As usual! Quite delicious and as an added bonus, I also got the Mideast chips and dip - their babaganoush is fantastic! And I don't even normally love babaganoush (as much as hummus.) Manager way inexperienced said they were too busy and it would take another 30 minutes to make a new burger. Burnt bun and raw meat, WOW, way to go Issac. My first time coming here and I was not disappointed. I had the 1/2 bbq salmon sandwich, roasted red bell pepper soup and a side Greek salad. That sandwich was the bomb! The bbq chutney was delicious and the goat cheese addition complimented this sandwich so good. The soup was quite good too. My only gripe is that I wasn't told the Greek salad was an upgrade and was charged $3 more. It's customary to let patrons know it will be an additional charge. Oh Ripe, were do I begin? The fabulous waiters who remember you by name (hi Nick!), the amazing food, the beer & wine selection... Brunch. This place is fabulous for it. You really can't go wrong whether you pick from the French Toast, quiche of the day or the Two Step (personal favorite). Come early, especially on Sundays, or expect to wait! Lunch & dinner are equally good. The salads are hearty, especially if you add a protein, and their burgers are huge! The food is always hot and fresh. If you become a regular, be prepared to notice small changes over time. I've seen the breakfast taters change at least three times during the past few years. And the loss of the post meal cookies :( That was a sad day. It is on the pricier side, but most plates are big enough to share or will give you left overs for next day's lunch. Horrible customer service. Their employees have no training and no care. They close on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 and open at 4 despite these days being the busiest. They always run out of quiche despite high demand. Very disorganized place and not well ran. Gabriel old manage at least had the caring to make up to customers by comp food or apologizing when service was not good, but the new manager, Isaaq is beyond rude and unprofessional to say the least. A 9 year old child and a mother arrived today at the restaurant at 2:01 and sat on the patio. They arrived on Uber and Uber left; yet, at 2:03 the waiter said he will not take the order because they close at 2:00. The restaurant was full of people. Many had not even received the order and the kitchen was open and working for the customers that were waiting on the food. Despite asking to make an exception the waiter and manager still declined to take the order for a child because of a 3 minute difference. The order had to have gone in the kitchen at 1:59, 4 minutes before or to bad so sad. So, we had to order Uber again, wait 10 minutes, observe the rest of the customers getting their food while the 9 year old child and mom were told to go "their merry way". They have no customer service , no caring, not even for a child. The only reason they are in business is because West EL Paso does not have as many restaurants to serve our community in this area so they get away with unprofessionalism and poor customer service. The owner needs to reevaluate the new team and new manager Issaq as he is on the way of pissing off many customers. On my young age, I worked in many restaurants and I am a business owner in El Paso and this is not a way to treat customers. I would never ask a client to leave because the office closes at 5:00 and they showed up at 5:02. I would never have a manager talk back to a customer and not let customer talk. When I served in restaurants, I would ask the kitchen to prepare the food and make sure the "customer is taken care of". That is what a business does! Apparently, not Ripe and apparently not the new manager Issaq. Very disappointing! read more

The best word I can think of to summarize our experience here is "incredible!" It was the best dining experience I've had in years, and hands-down the best food I've had thus far in El Paso. We came here for Valentine's Day dinner, which seems to be the one day of the year we probably should of thought to make a reservation, but they were able to accomodate us quickly, and transfer the stellar 22oz beers we ordered at the bar to our table. Our server was very kind and our glasses were never empty. We had the babaganoush & hummus with pita for our appetizer, and that was amazing! (The babaganoush had a unique, smoky flavor that was out of this world.) For dinner, my boyfriend ordered the tenderloin, which he really enjoyed, and both of us will come back just to make a meal out of the smoked gouda mashed potatoes he got with it!!! I ordered the chicken rattatouille. Well, I guess when they made it the first time it was overcooked, so instead of serving the sub-par meal, as some places would, they informed me they were going to make it again so it would be up to their high standards (by the way, it was PERFECT-I've never had a better chicken dish in my life), and due to how long it would take, since I think they make it from scratch, they didn't charge us for the entree and threw in a free dessert!! (Root beer float. Fabulous, of course) That level of customer service is simply unmatched in this day & age, and I can't express how happy I am to have had such an experience. I like Ripe. Most recently we went for a family dinner to celebrate my nephew's birthday. I called several hours in advance for a reservation, and they had our table waiting when we arrived (party of 7). Everyone at our table had something different... meatloaf, burger, salad, steak, chicken, you get the idea, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Also, the service very good. That said... I was a little disappointed that we were seated right behind the hostess stand at the entrance and right next to the kitchen door. So we caught all of the traffic coming and going from both customers and staff. It wasn't a big deal, but we called several hours in advance (before they were even open for dinner), they had plenty of time and room to setup a table out of the way. In all fairness, I didn't request that when I made the reservation. Also, I was served a "draft" beer, that had a bottle cap in the bottom of the glass. I noticed after having a few drinks, then brought it to the waiters attention. He quickly corrected the issue by bringing me a new beer, but I would have thought he'd comp. it (especially given the amount we spent that evening), but he didn't. read more

Went there for a girls night out and was anticipating what would have been an awesome night away from the kiddos. A friend of mine has a severe dairy allergy and she ordered a ripe salad with grilled chicken. First time they had mistakenly put feta on top and we excused it as a misunderstanding. Second time around they brought the salad and it clearly just had the feta been picked as there was specks deep within the onion crevices. I personally walked up and asked for a new dish to be made. Third time around simply took the onion off and washed them and put them on the side. Sent it back because there was soft feta on the leafy greens. Clearly not a new salad Fourth time , yet again on the cranberries and leafy greens there was feta. Manager was asked to come to our table and he blatantly lied about it being a new salad and didn't even offer an apology. Apparently food allergies are no-big deal for the food industry.... We are now waiting for 15 for a salad and grilled chicken. One hour later she's finally eating her salad .. Worst mommy's night off. read more
