We went back to Ripe on Tuesday and again we had the amazing server that we had before. We love Alice! We had burgers this time and to our surprise the burgers are $3 (I think) off on Tuesdays. I had the burger with the goat cheese and it was incredible. I'll be ordering that one again for sure! My husband had the burger with blue cheese and blueberries. Again, Ripe won me over because I don't like blue cheese and that burger was to die for. Our favorite restaurant in El Paso for sure!!! First of all, I am not a fan of breakfast foods. Ever. Until today. I ordered the vaquero breakfast stack and my husband ordered the rough rider omelet. Hush. Although my food came out with the wrong eggs on it, it was fixed and brought back to me which was when I fell in love with breakfast and Ripe. Unfortunately my husband was almost finished eating by the time my meal was returned and my potatoes and beans were only luke warm. I didn't complain to our server though. (She was fantastic by the way) Could've been because of the two amazing mojito mimosas I had. If it would've come back piping hot, I would've given 5 stars. My first trip here was last week and we came for dinner. Everything was absolutely perfect. I had the chicken fried chicken and the hubby had the bahn mi. We decided then that this is our new favorite restaurant. Pretty hard considering we moved here from SoCal where every restaurant is amazing. This place is a must!!! Went here for brunch a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We finally came to realize that if we want good food we'll have to drive to this side of the town. When we got there, we waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The place was pretty packed but there were a few tables still open. As soon as we were seated, we got our drinks (coffee and fresh OJ) right away not to mention the amazing fresh biscuit with jam! Yum! Coffee was strong and good. Not acidic, just the way I liked it. OJ was okay. We've had better. The fresh biscuit though, I don't necessarily think they are biscuits bec they have a different texture but non the less, they were amazing! I could eat five more! Ordered Mellow mushroom omelette, Ricky mountain and blueberry ricotta pancakes. The eggs on my omelette were fluffy and flavorful. The mushroom sauce, wow, silky and had a very strong mushroom flavor. Loved it! The pork sausage inside my mushroom was okay. The side potatoes could use a little salt. The Rocky Mountain was great, eggs perfectly cooked. The beans on the side were okay. Finally the blueberry ricotta pancakes, did I die and go to pancake heaven???? OMG! My husband was raving how good the food was so I was intrigued. We stopped by after church and I ordered the soy ginger calamari and a ice cream sundae for my 4 year old. My calamari was drowning in sauce and jalapeños. So it was super salty and soggy. Kind of disappointed because I was super looking forward trying their food out. My son's sundae was ok and he enjoyed it. Our server was excellent though. She was attentive and pleasant. Which made up for my overpriced $9 sad calamari. Not sure if I want to come back. Mojito Mimosa ($8): A twist on both mojitos and mimosas. Ingredients traditional to a mojito mixed with Cava. Absolutely delicious and fun. It basically tasted like a mojito since Cava's flavor isn't prominent. They have other mimosa flavors as well that I'd want to try. Gourmet Coffee ($2.50): We forgot to ask what type of coffee they serve, but the receipt said "gourmet." Free refills, too. I'm really picky about my coffee and I really enjoyed it! Biscuits and Peach Berry Jam: These are brought to the table to whet your appetite. The biscuits are good and the jam is made in-house and based on seasonality. I was really pleased with the peach berry. Vaquero Breakfast Stack ($12): Cornbread topped with shredded chicken, tomatillo salsa, overeasy eggs, hollandaise, cheddar, and green onion. Uh, yum. I was delighted to see cornbread because it's not common on traditional breakfast dishes and theirs is moist. Everything on this stack was great. Delicious dish with southwest elements. Huevos Rancheros Benny ($11.50): Bacon, chipotle and tomatillo sauces, black beans, soft poached eggs, and chorizo hollandaise. Another breakfast classic and personal favorite with a southwest twist. I loved everything about this dish. The contents and especially the chorizo hollandaise. I like hollandaise, but it can be a little boring, so this kicked it up a notch. Both entrees came with black beans and crispy breakfast taters. Nothing terribly exciting. This is a wonderful spot to grab brunch with a fun menu full of classics with their unique additions. Service was wonderful; our waiter was incredibly attentive, and his recommendations did not lead to dissapointment. Being vegetarians, we were elated to find that their menu ACTUALLY catered to vegan/vegetarians, and that their choices were not the typical salad and etc. Everything was delicious, all the way from the drinks to the Red Velvet Cheesecake. My wife and I decided to make a quick jaunt to Ripe Eatery from the Sprouts grocery store on the west side of town. Since the kids were at Southwest University Park watching the Chihuahuas game, we decided to take advantage and make a night of it and to have dinner out and about. I remembered an inviting review from one of the local elite Yelpers (Tanya) and thought we would have our hand at the Ripe Eatery menu. I chose the Seared Ahi Tuna and my wife had the Monday meatloaf special. I was as happy as a bug in a rug the moment I began chowing down on my sandwich. It was perfectly seared and the tomato jam was just as awesome as the shoestring fries. I snuck a taste of my wife's meatloaf and was thoroughly impressed with the flavor, texture and moistness of the meat. Definitely one of the best meatloaf dishes I've ever had (sorry mom). Ripe Eatery is definitely a place I would highly recommend to anyone with a hankering for classic American dishes with a flare. Three or four years ago my friend Mike kidnapped me for lunch, dragged me across Transmountain, and drove me around the Westside until we arrived at Ripe (I'm not entirely sure if we ended up at Ripe on purpose or he got lucky and spotted it as we were driving through the neighborhoods). And even though it was years ago...I remember thinking to myself, "I've never heard of this place. And I'm not really hungry. Better just go with a salad." I ordered the Cobb Salad. FANTASTIC! The Southwest flare with the corn and black beans spoke to me. It said, "I will be the most delicious Cobb Salad you've ever had!" It did not lie. And then I was swiftly rushed out of my salad haven by Mike because he was going to be late for something, something. Probably a class. And in the haze that I had succumbed to, I forgot the name of restaurant we had just ate at. I figured, no biggie...Mike'll tell me what it's called. A week later I found myself on the Westside and immediately text Mike. I needed that name. I should've known Mike would be selfish, he refused to tell me the name or address...he said I'd have to go with him again. And while this might've been a serious plan, I moved a short time later, we lost contact and I never figured out the name. Then something miraculous happened! I stumbled upon Ripe on Yelp! Except I didn't know that Ripe is what I've been searching for. So it took a couple of months before I went. But last night I moseyed my way over to Redd with my dad after our quest for a skinny red tie. Seeing the lights and the out door seating, I knew immediately...I was finally home! Ripe really sets the mood for a low key night with great eats and good convos. Low lighting, bar seats, open booths, music playing and the most heavenly smells coming from the kitchen as you walk in. What's not to love? Last night there was a live performer on guitar. I swear he played the acoustic variation of my '&ish' playlist on my phone. As he walked around playing Beatles tunes, a group at a table nearby started singing. And when he started strumming 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' I just couldn't help myself...I started singing and for a few minutes I was completely immersed in a real life Across the Universe scene. I just can't get enough of this place. Back to the food! We ordered the Spinach Dip (keep in mind I'm shortening all the names of the dishes) and it was the best I've had in El Paso. Spinach, cheese, chilies, and cherry tomatoes. Can I have some more please, sir? Really great starter and it held me over while waiting for my Ahi Tuna Sandwich. My favorite food is Ahi Tuna and I order it just about anywhere that serves it and yet, this is the first time I've ever had it as a sandwich. It was nothing less than phenomenal. The tuna was a thick cut, seared perfectly on the outside to create a tasty crust and rare in the middle. But the toppings are what sold me on this sandwich. The tuna was served on Ciabatta bread (another favorite...you're two for two Ripe!) with a tomato relish and a wonton chip and other veggies (they may have been pickled, but don't quote me on that). I couldn't get enough. I finished my Simple Salad and told myself I would only eat half of the sandwich and finish the rest for lunch tomorrow, but I ended up eating the rest as soon as I got home. Ya, it was that good! I know this is a super lengthy review...but just hold on, we're going on. Service is on point and I appreciate that the other servers were more than happy to fill our drinks if they were getting even semi-low. Oh and the drinks! For once I didn't have an alcohol related drink because I go ga-ga for any place that serves flavored teas. Ripe has a unsweetened Tropical Tea that is seriously bombdotcom. Also I should mention the Cheladas are only $4.50 (I believe). When I saw the prices for the drinks I kind of expected something rinky-dink because most classier establishments either up charge for drinks or serve drinks in glasses smaller than the regular dinner glass. So you know I was thoroughly impressed when they brought out a large glass filled with red beer goodness. I seriously love everything about this place and we'll leave it at that! read more

The BBB. Notorious by name, I have been deceived once again. This burger tries way too hard to get your attention. From the name to the ingredients... sometimes you are just doing too much. Inside the bun, you have a blueberry jam base layer which lends a very sweet indulgent taste to your savory concoction. The meat is cooked well, which I certainly appreciate, so very rare you get a restaurant that respects the medium rare of a good patty. However, moving up from the meat, things start to go awry. Wow. That blue cheese. The taste is so overpowering and so bold it definitely usurps all the other notes in the burger and ruins the symphony in the worst way. The greens are nice and fresh, which is great when I can actually taste them. Sides to include a few options of which I chose the sweet potato fries at an additional cost. These are done well with a nice crisp. However, Ripe does not offer any special sauce to partner with their fries which is unfortunate. All in all, their burgers definitely range on the higher side in terms of price, but fails to justify this rate. I will definitely not be returning here and will take my burger fund elsewhere. I've given Ripe another opportunity to earn back my business after the owner reached out and attempted to make things right. This time I brought more out of town family for brunch. The server was excellent and brought out their delicious biscuits even before we ordered. While they were great about accommodating our substitutions, I was a little dismayed to see we charged for the substitutions as sides. For example, my daughter who doesn't eat pork asked on her pancake order that comes with bacon or sausage if she could have an egg instead. The server said sure, no problem and didn't mention any difference in cost. When we received the bill, we noticed we were charged $3 for the eggs. I may not have minded paying the difference, but it would be nice to have been given a heads up so I could make an educated decision. On the bright side, the Yelp check in offer for a free soda or tea remains, and they honored it. Food and service continue to remain solid and I know we will be back. read more

Ohhhh, Ripe.... How I miss thee! So, I visited Ripe TWICE in two days during a quick trip to EPT. I left EPT back in '97 and it is really, really awesome to see how the food scene is improving and the high quality of non-Mexican food that El Paso is offering. My cousin and I went to Ripe on a Thursday evening around 7. There was a decent-sized crowd- not too big and not creepily small. There was a guy with a guitar and that was very cool. Live music is a plus! The tables are comfy and the decor is nice. The lighting is good, too. Servers were very polite and friendly. We began with the raspberry limeade and it was quite tasty. It was just a tad sweeter than I prefer, but I do like things on the ridiculously sour side. It was very refreshing and yummy. The smoked spinach artichoke dip was AWESOME!!! Oh my, the smokiness of the cheese combined with the veggie-ness of the spinach and the slight tang of the 'chokes was very, very delicious. I highly recommend this appetizer! It was so good that I came back the very next night and ordered it again for takeout. No joke! I got the Ripe's Veggie Burger for my entree and it too was amazing. It was ginormous, so I thought I'd only eat half, but it was so good that I ended up devouring the entire thing. I can't really describe the patty other than to say that's it's very slightly reminiscent of falafel and it's really good and HUGE. The bun was tasty, too. Oooh, and those fries. Yum! I like that they were really thin and crispy. No mushers at Ripe! The perfect ending to the perfect meal was the Texas sheet cake. Now, I don't get down to the Great Lone Star State but once or twice per year and I promise that I will go to Ripe every time I'm there to get this delicious cake. Finally we got to try Ripe. Honestly I would say 3.5. Will explain later. Ripe has modern American cuisine/interior design. We went Sat night. Live Bossa Nova, my fav. It was a beautiful cool weather outside: we decided to sit outside and we can still hear the band. Our waitress was cordial, friendly and extra accommodating. We got our tropical tea with our check in: delicious. Unsweetened, which is considerate because not everyone wants too-sweet tea. I got chicken ratatouille with ginger noodle soup and my husband got Kalua (?) burger with fries. Ratatouille: delicious. Zucchinis, onion, sweet potato in tomato wine sauce. Embarrassingly, i asked for a spoon so I can drink the sauce! No shame. It was that good. Chicken was cooked moist and stuffed with spinach goat cheese, which was a nice combination with tomato (acidic) wine sauce. Ginger noodle soup: sadly this was not as good. Asian twist of campbell soup, quality wise. Noodles were cold and al dante. Onions and celery were too over cooked. Too much floating grease on top. Yea, it doesn't sound too appetizing. This soup left us with a weird salty aftertaste. Burger: the order was medium well. Came out closer to medium. Fries were thin and crisp but too much oil for us. Burger? Pretty good. Nothing spectacular. Price: this is where it gets iffy. It is bit expensive for what you get. Ambience and my chicken were excellent. But the noodles and burger? Over priced. Chicken was 14, soup 3 and burger 12. This is def a date night place. Expect to spend 40 bucks for two. 1 point drop for the soup. I don't think restaurant at this price range can have any weak links in their menu, like soup that taste worse than canned. 0.5 point drop for price, some items are overpriced. read more

The boyfriend and I went to Ripe for Sunday brunch and were throughly disappointed. We were so amped after reading all the reviews, and Ripe did not live up to the hype. First, we ordered drinks at the bar while we waited. Not a big deal, you go out for Sunday brunch, you should expect a wait. My peach mimosa however, was 50% sugar syrup. It tasted so fake and sugary, I couldn't drink it. Then we got to our table. No hello my name is from our server or anything. He just dropped menus off and took off. We watched Ricardo (only found out from the receipt) and the service he gave the Spanish speaking customers was phenomenal, whereas he barely spoke 3 words to us. And now for the food. My boyfriend got the vaquero breakfast stack, and it was great. The cornbread was a little sweet for me, but he loved it. My coffee was so bitter, I couldn't drink it. I ordered the hot rooster, and the chicken was dry and my eggs were undercooked. I took a picture of the piece of tendon I got in my chicken and the raw egg that was on my potatoes. Ricardo watched me pick my plate and give up and said nothing. We had to call the manager over to get any service. Really though, the best part of our experience was Andy the manager. This is our 6th or more visit to Ripe. The first nice feature is a happy hour with reduced pricing. The next nice feature is a nightly special such as discounts on burgers, meatloaf night, or half-price wine bottles. The service has always been professional and good. The desserts are good if you still have enough room for them, albeit, they are a little pricey. I had the tenderloin monthly special for May and my wife had the 3B burger. I was surprised how good the meat was on the tenderloin and the accompanying vegetables were exceptional. My wife was happily surprised that the blueberry jam tasted so good on her 3B burger. She also got the sweet potato fries, a $3 surcharge, but they were good. They do a good job at Ripe. We've never had the brunch but the menu is diverse. We are not afraid to order anything from the menu as even the oddest sounding dishes have been good. Good job Ripe! Plus, they have Santa Fe Brown on tap, a beer that is hard to find! read more

Ripe was fantastic. We went 2 days in a row. The food is amazingly fresh and a great menu. The wine menu was diverse and allowed for varietals for all tastes. The only down fall or FYI for those with food restrictions is confirm with the kitchen because the menu is misleading. There are some items that are labeled "vegan" that definitely are not that may pose a huge risk for those with true allergens, strict diets and definitely for the restaurant advertising vegan food that actually isn't. We tried to check out Ripe this weekend, but we were disappointed to find out that on weekends the only food available is from their brunch menu. We aren't really breakfast/brunch fans and it was frustrating to drive all the way out to the far west side only to find out that we couldn't get the lunch options we had hoped to try out at 11am. I went back to their website to double check and I couldn't find anything that mentioned this detail. On top of this the parking lot was packed and there was a wait just to be seated and find out that they didn't serve lunch food for lunch on weekends. We will probably give them a try again during the week at some point, but given how bad traffic is heading to the west side it's hard to know exactly when that will be. It's disappointing to think that random diners can serve tasty food from their breakfast or lunch menus all day but this restaurant can't manage that. read more

Decided to try out this place for the first time and man was I impressed. Upon arrival the place was pretty packed and I didn't really see anywhere to sit. Although we were seated within minutes in a table I didn't notice. All the staff was incredible, courteous, and just on point with everything. I ordered a Boston Lager to drink from their wonderful assortment of craft beers. Not a lot but still a great selection. My mom ordered a frozen Margarita which she found to be perfect. Ordering was a tough choice because there was so much I wanted to try. I ordered the Bordeaux Burger, my brother ordered the Shrimp Bahn Mi sandwich, and my mother ordered the Salmon Pasta. We all tried each other's food and it was beyond delicious. The pasta is a definite for me the next time, and while I really enjoyed tasting the Shrimp Bahn Mi sandwich, I'd definitely take my burger over it. I love ordering my burgers medium and good lord did they make it the perfect amount of medium that made it so juicy I almost drooled over myself while taking bites. The red wine mushrooms, brie spinach, and onions added so much flavor to the burger that I demolished it. Since it was our first time there we also decided to try dessert. I ordered a Root Beer Float with their craft root beer non-alcoholic, and by the gods that was the best Root Beer Float I've had in a long time. My brother ordered the Baked Cherry Galette which he devoured but before I had a taste and man was the 10 minute wait for his dessert definitely worth it. I highly recommend both. Wow! What an incredible breakfast! All kinds of options. Perfect spot for any foodie. We ate here prior to hiking. We loved the vaquero stack, the southwest scramble with chorizo, poached pear salad, and steak and eggs. All delicious! While I'm not a coffee drinker, everyone else in our party drinks coffee. The coffee is sourced from New Mexico, and they all said it was strong yet smooth. As if this wasn't enough, the staff were excellent and we ate outside in beautiful spring weather. After a long day of winery hopping in Las Cruces we stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner. Obviously this place has been well rated and it seemed like the type of place to have fresh interesting food and looked like it had some gluten free options for my mom. We were not disappointed. The hostess/server was kind enough to let my mom choose where to sit (my mom walks with a cane and she didn't want her to walk far). I appreciated the accommodation and kindness. We ordered the smokey green chile spinach dip and the hummus for our appetizers. The spinach dip was one of the most interesting, smoky, yummy, dips I have had in a long while. There was just the right balance of green chile to spinach. The cherry tomatoes and blue corn chips made it complete. The hummus and babaganoush tasted fresh made and the generous portion of pita with the dips were greatly appreciated. Don't you hate when you run out of pita with precious dip waiting to be sopped up?! Our waitress was so kind and helpful in helping my mom choose something gluten free and they were very willing to make any substitutions. My mom had the Pecan-crusted Salmon with veggies, I had the Stuffed Chicken over ratatouille, my boyfriend had the Cordon Bleu sandwich. First and foremost... awesome presentation. All the food we got was so visually appealing it looked delicious before we tasted it. My mom said the salmon was perfect and ate every bite. My chicken was super tasty! Very memorable. The goat cheese stuffing would mix with the ratatouille and it was heaven. So flavorful! The chicken was tender and juicy and I loved the random bites of sweet potato. My boyfriend is the pickiest eater of the bunch and he liked his sandwich but didn't care for the spinach instead of lettuce. Overall, really great meal. I'd really love to try more on that menu. Overall experience was good. The food was good and the service was as well. They have a good variety of dishes in their menu. Enough to keep and peak my interest. One thing I'd highly recommend is to increase a variety of desserts. I am a huge dessert guy not to mention a foodie. Website is incorrect and the staff doesn't care to rectify it. I went in for lunch and checked the website for how long the brunch menu on the weekends was available it states until 2pm. I knew I was going to order a to go order on my way out so at 1:33 I stopped to ask about a to go order from the Brunch menu and was informed that they stopped making brunch at 1:30. I informed them the website clearly has the menu until 2pm advertised, got basically a shrug and a decline to make the item. Must be nice to be unconcerned about what is advertised and what you actually offer. read more

This place is my absolute favorite! My husband and I love coming here for our date nights because the service and food are always amazing! We have tried most of the menu and each item is always consistently delicious. Brendan and Alyssa always go above and beyond to provide the best dine in experience. This place was PACKED for Easter brunch! We had about a 20 minute wait, which they informed us right when we put our name on the wait list. We were seated at a two top, and a server arrived promptly with a warm greeting and to take our drink order. I was disappointed to find out they were out of the wine vodka they use to make their Bloody Mary cocktail, so I opted for the Bloody Maria (which is made with beer) it was ok, but I really wanted to try the Bloody Mary! I ordered the Huevous Rancheros, and my husband ordered the Brisket sandwich. Both were delicious! The brisket sandwich is on a ciabatta roll, my husband opted to eat it open face because it was a lot of bread! The roasted potatoes that came with both entrees were excellent. They were cooked perfectly, not tasting like they were cooked a while ago and sat under a heat lamp like so many restaurants do these days! Service was friendly and efficient given how busy they were I was impressed that none of the staff appeared harried or overwhelmed. We will definitely go back for an evening meal and to try some other delectable selections on their menu. We did see they offer a Prime Rib special on Monday (we are serious carnivores!), and 1/2 off bottles of wine on Wednesday! read more
